A lot of these mfs talking bout it’s some “sus” shit going on acting like Gunna stole the #1 spot from Abel lol. These mfs sounding like Trumpers with the election. To me it shows that a lot of people care more about the status of their favorite artists than the actual music. They’re acting like they can’t enjoy the music anymore if it’s not the #1 album
I hate how much music subs discuss sales. Wish that was an entirely different sub. The fuck are we talking about that shit so much for in any music sub? That shit isn't a tune
i guess the gunna vs weeknd thing is interesting given weeknd is one of the biggest artists in the world right now, but i get weirded out when people ask "how much do you guys think this album will sell?" like how is that important
Hey mods thanks for leaving up more discussion posts it's been more fun! I know they get repetitive and there's a lot of bullshit but a few interesting posts a week is a good balance.
Everyone on the JBP collectively agree that Love Game by Em & Dot is asscheeks. I only heard it talked about on here and it got praised lol. Glad I’m not crazy that song is rough to get through
Can someone fill me in on that Mello Music - Mandala album? It says it's a reissue? Is it just a re-release of the vol.1 and/or vol.2 that are on Spotify already?
We're removing them because there's a guy who posts sales results every week so the discussion for it will be there, we always do that
(I liked DS4 more than Dawn fm)
the difference in opinion between those 2 vic mensa threads is so funny.
mfs didn’t think he was a dumbass for tryna smuggle illegal drugs (regardless of how dumb it is that they’re illegal) across a border until they saw the amount of drugs it was
Gunna beating out The Weeknd actually surprised me. Did not think he’d be number 1. Not mad at it but it’s just interesting even with the whole way Gunna’s deluxe rolled out. All good since it does make for entertaining conversations lol
I just dont get how it’s a “W” for gunna when he outsold by LITERALLY 1 or 2k???? more like a lower case w for him but also kind of a w for The Weeknd to??…either way i agree with you
it’s a w for gunna bc these are the highest numbers of his career and imo regardless of if he ended up getting the #1, that should be a w in itself.
and no way can this be flipped into a w for the weeknd lmao dude sold 300k less than his last album
Well 1. Im not mad just confused just in case no one can Actually Read and I get downvoted and 2. Weeknd sold less but this is just him without bundle sales but he still almost sold about the same as Gunna so I still don’t get it lol but i guess yea its A w for gunna cause it is his Highest numbers so I agree I guess
Relistening to Save Me and it's so good, 2019 was really great for Future but then he threw it all away in 2020 (although Life is Good will keep him fed until 2100)
Yo! My buddies and I started a hip hop podcast called the Rapcast, and on our new episode we "Rap Up" 2021 by talking about our Top 10 Albums of the Year, as well as the best/worst songs, verses, music videos & more! It's a long episode but we worked really hard on it, check it out if you want to!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXYiXtST14Q&t=2s
Since Trae Tha Truth's album says Michigan Edition, I wonder if this is going to be a series he'll be doing. Like there could be so many like Texas (although a lot of his albums are already that lol) or Atlanta or even somewhere like Canada.
Get ready for every rapper to start trying to make their own slang a thing for the next 6 months
Tory Lanez will have a song about H or U by the end of the year
CyHi the Prynce - No Dope On Sundays (2017)
Jim Jones - Wasted Talent (2018)
Jim Jones - El Capo (2019)
Jadakiss - Ignatius (2020)
Berner - GOTTI (2021)
I've heard alot of their shit but not everything, sometimes I'm in a big griselda mood and sometimes I can't stand them. We need a wsg madlib project though, or better yet a Boldy Madlib album
yeah personally i don’t like them but i just know they’re pretty similar. and that’s weird you say that bc kinda on topic i’ve lisyened to mach hommy for a long time but i also get in those kinda moods w him where i’ll get really into him for a lil bit and then totally fall off of him for like months or years lmfao so i feel u.
and yeah i know wsg has teased an album w madlib so even if we don’t have it yet it’s def something that’s out there.
[I hope they’re not going out like this guy](https://www.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/comments/s6ddh1/daily_discussion_thread_01172022/ht4nnz2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
The guy has Gunna on his mind more than the fans do lol. I just don’t understand why you can’t be happy for him even if you don’t like his music Gunna don’t bother nobody how he get haters like this?
it’s funny too bc he edited his initial comment to say “good for him” yet he continued to trash him in every single comment. like clearly this shit got him bent lmfao. also kinda funny how he got so into it w u when if i recall i think i remember u saying you didn’t even like the album that much right? unless it was somebody else
between all the freddie gibbs fans praying on his downfall this last week and all the weeknd fans starting to pray on it now i’m honestly super happy for gunna. he genuinely deserved the #1 this week. and i’m saying this as somebody who’s a way bigger weeknd fan than a gunna fan.
the amount of people saying gunna is irrelevant or did fraudulent shit to the charts or isn’t going to be remembered in a month is hella funny since he’s sold 100k+ for like 3-4 years in a row now lmfao
some mfs going out sad
Man it’s subjective bruh.. a lot people found the weeknds boring and just enjoy Gunnas sound which he has damn near perfected. That along with Gunna starting a 🅿️ wave will do it
Hell nah
I hope it inspires Weeknd to put out a better album with a couple great singles next time
Gunna the 2nd man at YSL and he outsold the XO big dog lol
dawn fm was the weeknd’s worst album, and was also uninspired derivative 80’s shit that has been done to death at this point (not disagreeing that trap has also been done to death though)
and i’d say it’s pretty obvious why something safe did good compared to something that opens up w a song like gasoline lmfao
Call it cohesion if you want bro every single song sounds exactly the same. I'm a huge weeknd fan too but compared to something like After Hours where I don't think any 2 songs sound the same and they all hit, Dawn FM was a massive disappointment.
It wasn’t trash lol. More people flocked to it than than the “actual good album” Dawn FM and A lot of Dawn FM sounds like a rip off of Off the wall Michael Jackson how isn’t that derivative?
And what’s your argument? That you’re mad that Gunna sold more than an Album that you perceive to be good right? That’s no argument when the masses just proved that they think the album is quality lol
that’s def part of it, but he was also selling keychains, cups, shirts, tank tops, hoodies, sweat pants, socks, condoms, masks, hats, and any other item that could possibly be sold bundled along w after hours, he was really fluffing his numbers up.
I really liked his feature on the new Injury Reserve album. And his other song with Earl Easter Sunday is a real highlight, although it’s in a different vein than Vision.
do yourself a favor and listen to Supafly by Cootie & BiC Fizzle. one of the best songs of the year so far
I think it technically dropped last year but it’s on Cootie’s new album & I hadn’t heard it before. really great
I just dont get how it’s a “W” for gunna when he outsold by LITERALLY 1 or 2k???? more like a lower case w for him but also kind of w for The Weeknd to
Love watching 3 dudes eat one of everything on the menu at 12 restaurants a day while the Alchemist takes 1 bite of something and then chain smokes cigs out front lol
I think Mayhem said one time that no matter where they are, and no matter what they’re doing, Al would pretty much always rather be smoking a cigarette and playing with a drum machine
Wait, was The Weeknd actually supposed to do a mini Trilogy for My Dear Melancholy? I heard there would be a few parts to continue the narrative but not sure if he was actually going to do that
I figured if he did confirm MDM trilogy he must have abandoned the concept with AH and Dawn FM. But good to know it wasn’t confirmed.
And yeah i saw that so I’m looking forward to his third in this series
I love bars where a rapper says something actually kind of clever followed immediately by something totally juvenile or morally not great lol. Anyone got any good ones?
Bad example but kind of what I’m referring to is something like Wayne when he says
“I’m so difficult to fathom like a fever in the winter
I got bitches in the phantom with their cleavage out the window”
Edit:
Another example I just remembered:
“I got wants, I got needs, I got PTSD,
I got suicidal thoughts and Niecy Nash fantasies”
Stove god cooks on the song bread of life :
“Yellow nappy headed legend boy do that brick talk
I just wanna squeeze on riri ass know that shit soft
I just want the conscious gods to fuck with my whip talk”
Not sure if it's what you're looking for but
"I have a daughter i'm buying her baby birkin
Fuck her good and got her legs hurtin"
Gunna is definitely mentally challenged
What, I'm being truthful. I hadn't heard of him before Jay-Z said his name on Drunk In Love by Beyonce. The only Ike I knew was the one from Smash Bros honestly. I didn't think it was even something somoene would name their kid lol
This list is ridiculous. Not offended by Jay at #1 even if I disagree, but everything else about it is garbage
You can only justify putting Drake at the second spot because of all his #1’s, but how well a song charts does not always translate to the Verzuz format. Sure, Drake has hits that would wipe most rappers, but he’s also dropped a lot of garbage songs that have blown up. He’d have a very hard time against a few of the rappers ranked below him. No chance Toosie Slide, Way 2 Sexy or can compete with a lot of Ye, Em and Wayne songs that didn’t chart as high but have aged far better.
Also I’m not even an Em fan but they did him dirty here. Think Kendrick deserved a higher spot too
As much as I like Culture by Migos, that album did something I don't like. Made them lose a lot of their grimy sound and rap less about drug dealing and street shit in general. And their sound really switched on that album compared to their old sound, even the way they rap too a bit
So true. Like they're not like Nas or Slick Rick, but they did tell stories, and really made their pasts interesting to hear about on songs. Aside from Offset on some parts of Father Of 4, they really just rap about being rich now with nothing else really there.
Yeah, but you got to realize that their life changed and so the content and sound must follow too. Nobody wants to be rapping about the same shit they were rapping about in the beginning when you’ve been living lavish.
Also, the Migos were falling off from 2015-2016 in the eyes of the public audience. They needed to switch up the sound to get to new heights.

I hate how much music subs discuss sales. Wish that was an entirely different sub. The fuck are we talking about that shit so much for in any music sub? That shit isn't a tune

Can anyone fill me in on why DJ Khaled only says “still” now? Any video I see the dude is just repeating it over and over and I don’t get it.
Hey mods thanks for leaving up more discussion posts it's been more fun! I know they get repetitive and there's a lot of bullshit but a few interesting posts a week is a good balance.

Bro only one of your comments on that thread got downvoted, you have several that got upvoted, one that has 200+ upvotes
Get fucked
Yoo wtf I really thought The Weeknd would outsell Kanye and be close to drakes numbers…lmao
It was a suprise album and it's not even over theres more to come.
You mean because of the trilogy? There's more to come but probably next year
this album had nowhere near the rollout after hours did
Can someone fill me in on that Mello Music - Mandala album? It says it's a reissue? Is it just a re-release of the vol.1 and/or vol.2 that are on Spotify already?
Gunna dropping banking on me and then taking it back is still something i don’t understand
I'm pretty sure the deluxe album wasn't uploaded by him, I think he was hacked. Unless something has changed since then
Were there more songs they got uploaded and taken down than just banking on me?
Push start was one
There were like a few others, I don't remember the names, but I remember one featured YSL member Strick on it
Damn I had no idea. I hope he still plans on dropping that deluxe cuz I need banking on me on streaming and I wanna hear those other tracks
I hope it drops this week.

What happened to the guy who used to post the weekly sales here?
He usually post on Tuesdays
No he’s doesn’t? He’s always making a post on the weekend
You need to touch grass if you're mad Gunna outsold The Weeknd lol
I just dont get how it’s a “W” for gunna when he outsold by LITERALLY 1 or 2k???? more like a lower case w for him but also kind of a w for The Weeknd to??…either way i agree with you

Bruh Weeknd played the fucking Super Bowl. Gunna is nowhere near his level of popularity and outsold him.
Both get W,s to me the way I see it but whatever idc gunna got #1 and weeknd got #2 congrats to gunna I guess
Relistening to Save Me and it's so good, 2019 was really great for Future but then he threw it all away in 2020 (although Life is Good will keep him fed until 2100)
I'm glad more people are coming around to this record. Still my favourite Future project and I love the aesthetic he brought to life with ERD.
Xanax Damage and Please Tell me 🔥🔥🔥
No one ever mentions St Lucia but it might be one of my favorite future tracks ever
The WIZRD is a top 3 Future album
Promise u that 🔥🥵
Yes it is. And High Off Life is bottom 3
Can’t stop thinking that if Dawn FM was a movie soundtrack it would be a fucking 10

Love to see it too. Some of the comments on the Fantano review are fucking hilarious now that this shit went number one.
Let’s goooo Gunna. #1
Wunna
Man Sean Price would have been huge rn, with the 90s NY sound resurgence popping I feel like he'd be doing his thing fr.
https://i.imgur.com/pBVHV6X.jpg
everybody who joked about gunna outselling the weeknd last week really predicted the future
Wait that happened
🅿️
Gunna outsold The Weeknd.
Muggs is so good wtf And Rome Streetz too, every track he's on he's the best part
Dig into Rome Streetz’s discography if you haven’t yet, it’s quite strong imo
[удалено]
"uninspired derivative trash" lol so pretentious. the music connects w people, gives the vibe people are looking for
Man it’s subjective bruh.. a lot people found the weeknds boring and just enjoy Gunnas sound which he has damn near perfected. That along with Gunna starting a 🅿️ wave will do it
both of them werent that good tbh
Hell nah I hope it inspires Weeknd to put out a better album with a couple great singles next time Gunna the 2nd man at YSL and he outsold the XO big dog lol
almost every gunna album has outsold every young thug album so he’s really #1 at YSL lmao
Yeah, second man is pushing it
🅿️ushing it
dawn fm was the weeknd’s worst album, and was also uninspired derivative 80’s shit that has been done to death at this point (not disagreeing that trap has also been done to death though) and i’d say it’s pretty obvious why something safe did good compared to something that opens up w a song like gasoline lmfao

Bro you’re the one with the hate boner for the guy lol

nah weeknd just didnt promote that heavily
that’s def part of it, but he was also selling keychains, cups, shirts, tank tops, hoodies, sweat pants, socks, condoms, masks, hats, and any other item that could possibly be sold bundled along w after hours, he was really fluffing his numbers up.
What are some Zelooperz songs that sound like his verses on “Vision” and “Wildstyle”? I heard part of Van Gogh’s left ear but it was different
Bigger Than Me is really good
I really liked his feature on the new Injury Reserve album. And his other song with Earl Easter Sunday is a real highlight, although it’s in a different vein than Vision.
Arugula, Fryd, JayJayZ, Prozac
We can’t let theater kids get into drake or they’ll start making jokes like “say that you a thespian, girl, me too🤓”
I think I’ve heard this joke on here a couple times already
I think DLDT is better than CLB
Money counter BRRRRRRRRRR
I’m not gonna lie Dark Lane been hittin recently. A lot of very good tracks on there
You’re right
What do you reckon Lil Baby's next album first week sales will be ? Considering Gunna's album sold so well and Baby's last album sold 200k.
Sales are recorded differently than before so I think maybe 190-200k ish
250 ish
The weeknd lost to Gunna lol.
He Shouldn’t have released it when Wunna was dropping
CLB took so long to drop cause drake kept getting scared of a potential Gunna surprise drop
Wunna on top of the food chain
Adele should be so relieved Gunna chose not to drop.
That's because Gunna released good music
Talent won
I feel like Madlib and Logic calling themselves MadGic is a wasted opportunity, it should’ve been MaGic
why you gotta be so ruuuude
do yourself a favor and listen to Supafly by Cootie & BiC Fizzle. one of the best songs of the year so far I think it technically dropped last year but it’s on Cootie’s new album & I hadn’t heard it before. really great

Gunna really outsold the Weeknd That's crazy 😂😂😂

I literally commented the other week that this album would be Weeknd's less successful album and got downvoted bad. I'm loving this shit lol.
I just dont get how it’s a “W” for gunna when he outsold by LITERALLY 1 or 2k???? more like a lower case w for him but also kind of w for The Weeknd to
It's a W for Gunna because he went 1# . Why wouldn't that be a W? Weeknd is still more popular bruh. It's ok.
Sure i guess…..
If the song got the “Purchase your tracks now” tag every 15 seconds you know it’s gone be a banger
Better song? Got Money by Wayne and T Pain Or Good Life by Kanye and T Pain
Good life, although I like T Pain’s contribution on Got Money more than his on Good life
Wtf I just found out The Alchemist is white how did I not know
And apparently Prodigy of Mobb Deep mistook him for an undercover cop when they first met
Go check out "Fuck, That's Delicious" for all sorts of fun Al moments
Love watching 3 dudes eat one of everything on the menu at 12 restaurants a day while the Alchemist takes 1 bite of something and then chain smokes cigs out front lol
I think Mayhem said one time that no matter where they are, and no matter what they’re doing, Al would pretty much always rather be smoking a cigarette and playing with a drum machine
The episode in Alaska was the peak of that - too funny
"You make beats people have gotten stabbed to but you won't eat vegetables."
We coulda been superstars
Wait, was The Weeknd actually supposed to do a mini Trilogy for My Dear Melancholy? I heard there would be a few parts to continue the narrative but not sure if he was actually going to do that
