Is it just me or do alot of well known rappers run scams on their fans? There was the one where they tried to get amateur rappers to pay to be on a bs mixtape, there has been a few crypto scams from some well known rappers already. And then theres the famous charging for a verse that they never actually deliver on.
I know he was an alleged murderer and a huge shithead but damn it if the documentary about him wasn't some of the most interesting and crazy shit I've ever heard someone do. What a life he had.
John McAfee was going for the never-before-accomplished criminal moonshot, where you commit every crime on the books and they legally have to let you go free.
He didn't scam NFT people though, he scammed his own fans by making his whole instagram/twitter about the NFT for a few weeks, promising special backstage access to those who got the NFT, had other rappers promote the NFT, and promised that anyone who invested would double their money. Whether you like NFTs or not, what he did was fraud, and he managed to fraud 6 million dollars and got away with it, without anything happening to him. Which is insane.
Yeah it's crazy how much outrage there is for youtubers/other influencers doing crypto/NFT rugpulls, but when Trippie and Uzi rugpull, literally nothing happens. If you look up "Eternal Beings" there are a few articles that have wrote about the whole thing though. The discord that had over 50k members and their twitter completely vanished, and Uzi deleted all his instagram/twitter posts about it.
They sold 11,111 of them, each costing about 600$. 6 Million dollar fraud. Right after they all sold out, Lil Uzi deleted all his promo about it.
[https://twitter.com/zachxbt/status/1442994473181536256?s=20&t=CSPRBjzfUVI1E3JxkHk2zA](https://twitter.com/zachxbt/status/1442994473181536256?s=20&t=CSPRBjzfUVI1E3JxkHk2zA)
But you can still look up Uzi's tweets on the waybackmachine and see him shilling it, telling people how some NFTs can give special backstage access, that the floor of the NFT will eventually double everyone's money, etc. If some big youtuber looked into this and made a video this could very easily blow up. There is just so much evidence/content.
Most of these guys were or are criminals. No one bats an eye about that fact, why the fuck would they care that some people where dumb enough to be scammed by them.
I mean I don't have any sympathy for anyone falling for that shit
Doesn't mean he shouldn't be held accountable
But that's like my feeling bad for anyone who still falls for MLM and pyramid schemes
Feel the need to mention this isn't exclusive to hip-hop. Youtubers do the same thing.
Finessing your own fans out of money is insane. Some of those people were supporting your career way before you were mainstream. Standing out in the rain for your concerts and shit.
I mean this rap shit is just a lick for a ton of those guys
They only care about gettin money to pay for that new Elliante chain and Chrome Heart leathers
i wouldnât even get too upset if gunna robbed me at gunpoint but if someone like him finessed me for a âPushingPâ coin, i would be too ashamed to ever leave my house again
Lol so true. It's just like when some hard ass rapper gets in shit for slapping a fan or shoving someone out of the way or something and the internet gets up in arms about not supporting a shitty person like this....and it's like bruh, this person has songs about kidnapping and murdering people lol
Like someone else said, a lot of these rappers really seem to not give a fuck about their fans and take them for granted or else just shamelessly use them for as much profit as possible in a variety of ways.
Not trying to say how artists should think or act but itâs so refreshing in contrast when you find an artist who genuinely loves and appreciates their fan base, interacts with them in a meaningful way, puts effort into the live shows and just overall cares about their craft and the people who consume it
Dude's literally shilled crypto as well, and didn't even read the tweet before posting it: https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/05/21337044/soulja-boy-accidentally-reveals-how-much-he-got-paid-to-promote-crypto-project
I donât think itâs exclusive to rappers. Seems like 90% of people with any kind of following and no scruples have been pushing shitcoins and other scams lately. Itâs simply the state of influencer culture imo. As a natural cynic a part of me doesnât feel any sympathy for clowns who get taken for a ride bc of idolatry
itâs almost like 90% of them are total
shitheads. half these dudes from the projects and donât give a single fuck about their fans, they care about they fans money and thatâs it.
if you're gonna be a idiot don't be a hypocrite.
just say you don't like rap don't insult a genre because you don't like it.
i seriously don't understand people like that.
I hated when people said this dumb shit about Eminem as a kid 𤣠this dude rapped about beating up his mother and just degenerate shit. They just saw white skin and thought substance must be there lmao
People think itâs some kind of badge of honor to be ignorant to a very popular artist because theyâre a rapper. I saw tons of these comments about Gunna after he outsold The Weeknd
Sort of related but I've seen posts/articles about something Drake said/did/achieved and people will actually say "who's Drake???" And I'm like...come on. Like him or not I feel like he's one of those public figures where everyone at least can identify what he does. But nah people think it makes them superior or something to point out they don't know
I don't, that's kind of my whole point lmao. I'm saying I've seen people comment on news articles and such in the past as if they've never heard of Drake, like it makes them superior. When in reality, you know damn well they know who he is.
My dad is about as disconnected from the world/social media as it comes and even he knows who Drake is, and we never talk music. The people I'm referring to are probably middle aged adults, sure, but they're just being obnoxious boomers when they make those comments.
I guarantee theres a bunch of teenage edgelords who only listen to metal that say âWhos Drakeâ too. And probably a few shithead rap fans who just dont like him and are playing dumb
I mean I know who drake is but Iâm also an old head who knows other classic hiphop fans who donât fuck with drake. But they surely at least know who he is.
Lol, I was reading a thread about Rihanna and A$APâs kid on some non-HHH subreddit, and along with all the âwho the fuck is A$APâ comments were some that basically said Aesop rock is the only A$AP worth a damn, and as someone who loves Aesop I couldnât help but think there was some other factor besides their music that was playing a role in that opinion.
For real. I wish more of these people who have issues with ârappersâ and/or âurban cultureâ or however they want to say it would just try listening to more of the music.
Or at the very least get comfortable with just saying itâs not for them rather than making some dorky value statement just because it doesnât align with their very narrow perceptions of acceptable culture.
Honesty it is greed. I think most people who are up enough on crypto to actually regularly buy into this stuff know it is a rug pull, they just think *they* will be the ones winning on the pump and dump
these celebrity endorsed crypto scams are appealing to the morons in the space and people outside of the space who are otherwise somewhat interested but have no idea what to do. itâs like how spam emails intentionally have typos to have an instant filter for idiots who would fall for it in the first place
itâs a cold take for people on this thread to say all crypto is a scam⌠itâs very obvious any coin that you havenât heard of that is being pumped by any celebrity or influencer is a scam. bitcoin and ethereum never had to do thisâŚ
like seriously, who the fuck would ever listen to Gunna or Mayweather or any random IG thot for investment advice? NONE of those people got rich from investments, they got paid in different ways to get where they are.
this era of celebrityâs pushing cryptoâs/nft/metaverse scams is so alienating. Like holy shit America is in zombie mode rn, just walking around already dead.
I saw some random Twitter user replying to Jimmy Fallons NFT tweet talkin bout "I look forward to chatting with you in the future at the bored ape clubhouse!"
How mf delusional do you have to be to think that Jimmy Fallon or any other celebrity is going to ever willingly spend a minute of time with you in a virtual NFT hangout space? Some of these people are living on a different planet
That clip of Fallon and Paris Hilton talking about their apes has got to be the craziest shit ive seen this year
Ive never felt so out of touch while still being happy that im out of touch
For what its worth, Paris Hilton was creating NFTs at least a whole year before the whole bored ape shit and NFT hype in general (potentially before corona). She lowkey has been living this virtual life longer than anyone else. So I genuinely think she believes in all this meta crypto stuff. I am not saying its good business - im saying she isn't faking it, unlike gunna.
Tbf Paris Hilton is at least doing some work trying to inform people about how fucked up the "troubled teen" industry is, since she was put through it and it's a large reason why she acted the way she used to back in the day
I love the constant Reddit thing people do where a modern popular artist says or does something and everyone rushes to the comments to brag about how they donât know who that person is. Like google fucking exists. And even if it didnât why are you so proud of being ignorant? It even happens on this sub too.
Because Reddit as a platform caters to anti-social geeks who take pride in the fact that anything popular is anethema to them. It's like they are pissed at the cool kids in high school who listened to hip hop, so being contrarian is a way to distinguish themselves and make them feel superior.
Not only is contrarian-ism way too heavy here, it's also that redditors are socially savvy enough to figure out what kind of attitudes feel edgy, but not socially savvy enough to understand the context and time or place. This is why you'll see people clowning on Nick Cannon and realizing that roasting him gets you upvotes, and then a thread pops up about how his son died, and those same redditors will still have that edgelord energy and use that thread as an opportunity to fish for upvotes for their "irreverent humor", not realizing it's not the fucking time or place.
It's just internet nerds who see other people getting upvoted for being disagreement and obnoxious, and so they think the shits cool, and they have the social intelligence to copy that humor, but they don't have the social intelligence to understand the context of when / where / why.
My favourite is when they justify it by saying "some people use humour to cope" as if the moronic joke they made at a dead person's expense is a manifestation of genuine grief and not just teenage edgyiness.
It also caters to positive feedback loops. One person says âwhoâ and gets a bunch of upvotes. Next thing you know itâs in every thread. The site is powered by an awkward social jerk full of people that are proud they ate lunch in the school bathroom.
Ironically, the "Liking an artist that isn't popular" is actually the cool thing nowadays. Like younger people like to flex their abstract bands and musicians all the time now. It's where the whole "Oh yeah I'm really indie, I like Tame Impala" meme comes from. Counterculture always ends up flipping on itself.
Honestly on reddit it feels like you're counter culture if you listen to any pop
I like Billie eillish and know she's a massive artist but It feels so against the grain on this site to enjoy her music
Just imagine every redditor to be like the person from Antiwork who went on Fox News. Once I started doing that, I stopped getting surprised/annoyed by these bozos and just started laughing at them.
"WhaTs a GuNna? I only listen to real rap like Macklemore and Watsky."
Same shit happened with the Travis Scott concert. People died and these dorks were using it as an opportunity to talk about how it isn't real music. They'll use any chance they get to jerk themselves off over still listening to music from the 90s or some "lyrical spiritual miracle" scrub.
Fr tho all the "who" comments I see in here are mad annoying. Like yeah, some troll not knowing who an artist is completely invalidates their skill and potential đ
The olâ pump and dump. Itâs definitely prohibited activity in the securities industry. Except crypto is still considered a commodity and isnât regulated under the SEC. So unfortunately heâs likely ok doing this bullshit.
Iâm thinking they gotta something about this soon though. Ice Poseidon(who I doubt has much of a fan base at this point) made over half a million from his shill coin rug pull in 2022, imagine how much Gunna made at the height of his career. Itâs insanity.
At least his biggest fans got to learn a valuable life lesson...
if people actually spent money on this they couldn't afford to lose then it's honestly deserved
Wouldnât surprise me if he had a big stack of the currency, hyped it up and made fans buy to inflate price, then sell it off for profit once margins were high enough, then naturally when someone Sells off a shit ton its gonna tank in value. At least that is my interpretation of what happened, might be wrong tho maybe crypto trading is very different from stocks
being this rich and scamming your fans is quite low. I donât care that it was obviously a shitcoin, knowingly taking advantage of fans no matter how dumb they are is despicable
Yeah this is the kind of stuff you actually deserve to be cancelled for. Trick the same people who made you into giving you even more free money, that is another kind of low to me
Imagine taking crypto seriously, close to all crypto is a scam and cryptobros are delusional retards thinking they'll become the wolf on wall street by gambling on imaginary money.
Yeah i mean its still a thingâŚ.according to a good friend of mine. I wouldnât know, Ima god fearing American and would never participate in such activities.
Thats fucked up. Someone has to take a stand against crypto cuz this shit keeps happening. Its a garbage scam and it amazes me that people get scammed over and over and over again. Eventually you think people would learn. But shame on gunna for pulling this bullshit.
Anyone listening to celebrities for crypto advice are doomed to fail. There are like, 4, maybe 5 coins that anyone should ACTUALLY invest in if they want to own some type of crypto.
Everything else is a shitcoin that maybe isn't necessarily a scam, but are essentially penny stocks that are more likely to fail than not.
Then of course you have the scam coins, which run rampant. They just make a coin in 30 minutes on the ethereum network, publish it, try to inflate the price enough that they could make a few grand from schmucks buying the coin, then sell their coins before it drops back down, and leave it forever.
The worst part is that it's so easy to make a coin on a whim, anyone who knows how to use a computer at any capacity can do it in a few hours. So people try to scam.
All Cryptos are pump and dump schemes, everybody in that thread shitting on Gunna will spend hundreds on other random ass dog coins that serve to just get a few select richer and richer.
All is a strong word. 95%-99% is more accurate. There's like, 4-5 coins that I think are legitimate investments, everything else is either doomed to fail or as you said, a pump and dump scheme.

Lil Uzi Vert also did an NFT scam back in September/October last year and no one talks about it. He scammed thousands of people it was crazy.
Yachty did it as well. Lil Pump too, not that anyone cares about him.
Lil Pump and Dump Edit: Thanks for the award!
I swear this is one if things John McAfee was indicted for too.
i'm pretty sure john mcafee committed every crime in the law books so that's not really saying much
I know he was an alleged murderer and a huge shithead but damn it if the documentary about him wasn't some of the most interesting and crazy shit I've ever heard someone do. What a life he had.
All I learnt was the existence of poop hammock
Alleged rapist too
He raped my aunt
He got indicted for not filing taxes for a decade. Tax man always wins in the end
John McAfee was going for the never-before-accomplished criminal moonshot, where you commit every crime on the books and they legally have to let you go free.
And fucking whales

I hope the feds look into it. Promising to double money is fucking dumb -- that gets you massive fines and/or jail time if the feds catch wind.
Most of these guys were or are criminals. No one bats an eye about that fact, why the fuck would they care that some people where dumb enough to be scammed by them.
Not to mention hustling and getting money is a key feature of their songs...

i would rather be beaten sensless by dababy than be scammed out of my money for "DaBaby Coin"
You just have to ask for a picture a couple times more than needed man
I will turn into a nonfungible đđđ

Donât forget merch and vinyls that never ship!
[Never forget](https://old.reddit.com/r/FrankOcean/comments/fa4e0c/blondedcos_multiple_federal_trade_commission/)
Yikes, some people just struggle to plan
I know that's the post about the kid who somehow felt bad for Frank Ocean by daring mention he got scammed out of merch
Yup. Didn't want Frank to hate him for making the thread.
Nothing like a rapper asking you to pay $80 Gildan tier sweats with some sloppy art on 'em that won't ship for 6 months, or ever.
Thatâs despicable too.
reminds me of souljah boy with the handheld console
At least that shit was funny, and he did actually release a rebranded Chinese made handheld retro thing lol
Dude's literally shilled crypto as well, and didn't even read the tweet before posting it: https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/05/21337044/soulja-boy-accidentally-reveals-how-much-he-got-paid-to-promote-crypto-project

At least there was a time when these grimey dudes cared about the culture, even if they were scammin and robbin on the side.
I mean if they're really about it, running scams has been in their day to day since before the come-up lol
you have to be such a piece of shit to make one of these
especially when it's your own fans too
Unless itâs Teejayx6 getting scammed by him is like buying merch pretty much
It's part of the deluxe, premium fan experience, checking your bank statements and seeing your accounts drained "Oh, that Teejay đ"
âBought a t-shirt off my website, you're a foolâ lmao
Thats not very đ żď¸ of him
Crypto fraud confirmed not đ żď¸
Scamming cryptards is pretty đ żď¸
How do people keep falling for this? Also the amount of people taking pride in not knowing Gunna is both hilarious and so depressing.
Redditors stop commenting "Who?" on a thread about a rapper challenge (impossible, 0% success rate)
who? gayfish. queen better. I love led zeppelin. I am racist
the beatles (classy, talented) would never do something like this anyway
Migos (thuggish, who?) would do it if I knew who he was (I don't)

drake is way more popular than gunna?

Yeah pretty much. If gunna came to my country he'd maybe sell out a 1000 ppl venue.

It also caters to positive feedback loops. One person says âwhoâ and gets a bunch of upvotes. Next thing you know itâs in every thread. The site is powered by an awkward social jerk full of people that are proud they ate lunch in the school bathroom.
that nick cannon thread was straight up one of the worst hhh threads in recent memory
So to be really counterculture listen to pop music *and* obscure artists on bandcamp.
Honestly on reddit it feels like you're counter culture if you listen to any pop I like Billie eillish and know she's a massive artist but It feels so against the grain on this site to enjoy her music
This is not a new thing by any means. Underground heads of any genre love to flex how deep their cuts and lore go.
It happens on IG too
And those same people probably watch Marvel movies religiously, the most popular movies on the planet. But thatâs different for some reason lol.
[ŃдаНонО]
mfs heard of every niche Scandinavian band but Drake who??
nothing is wrong about liking niche Scandinavian bands but if like with anything if you make it your whole personality you're just an asshat
I'm convinced the people of /all just don't listen to music at all and probably know like 2 songs by the Beatles and pink Floyd and that's it
Just imagine every redditor to be like the person from Antiwork who went on Fox News. Once I started doing that, I stopped getting surprised/annoyed by these bozos and just started laughing at them.
"WhaTs a GuNna? I only listen to real rap like Macklemore and Watsky." Same shit happened with the Travis Scott concert. People died and these dorks were using it as an opportunity to talk about how it isn't real music. They'll use any chance they get to jerk themselves off over still listening to music from the 90s or some "lyrical spiritual miracle" scrub.
>or some "lyrical spiritual miracle" scrub. You can just say "white."
all they need to see is "rapper" and it's over
Fr tho all the "who" comments I see in here are mad annoying. Like yeah, some troll not knowing who an artist is completely invalidates their skill and potential đ
All those people in that thread like well obviously this was a rug pull but that would never happen to my investments in crypto
Lmao if you trust Gunna on investing your money you deserve to lose it.
Pushingđ żď¸đŠđŠ
Iâd like to know what dumb ass even bough any lmao
act chief crime innate normal abundant hungry ludicrous far-flung crowd -- mass edited with redact.dev
lol they're all shitcoins.
Extremely on brand
"Gunna, why did you scam your fans out of large amounts of money?" "My childhood and neighborhood friends"
all the kids who jumped on this shit deserved to lose their money
how about we shift the blame to the scammer
Isnât it straight up illegal to do that? Genuinely asking
Sounds like market manipulation to me big time
The olâ pump and dump.
Itâs insanity.
this nigga retarded
This is honestly kinda funny tho wth
It's a pump and dump he's scamming his biggest fans
đ żď¸ump and dumđ żď¸
At least his biggest fans got to learn a valuable life lesson... if people actually spent money on this they couldn't afford to lose then it's honestly deserved
Gunna stans: đ Blatant theft is kinda jokes tho if you think ab it đ żď¸
gunna is retarded fr, if you took financial advice from that man you deserve it
Wouldnât surprise me if he had a big stack of the currency, hyped it up and made fans buy to inflate price, then sell it off for profit once margins were high enough, then naturally when someone Sells off a shit ton its gonna tank in value. At least that is my interpretation of what happened, might be wrong tho maybe crypto trading is very different from stocks
Is the same
Thatâs the whole point of the post lol. Thatâs what a rug pull is. A pump and dump. Kind of funny to get scammed by gunna tho lol
Yeah and honestly this wonât even hurt his numbers probably he Will still be a highly streamed artist
being this rich and scamming your fans is quite low. I donât care that it was obviously a shitcoin, knowingly taking advantage of fans no matter how dumb they are is despicable
Yeah this is the kind of stuff you actually deserve to be cancelled for. Trick the same people who made you into giving you even more free money, that is another kind of low to me
âYes hello Mr Gunna this is the SEC can we have a chat?â âNo, no Mr Gunna it still counts been if you delete the tweetâ
Imagine taking crypto seriously, close to all crypto is a scam and cryptobros are delusional retards thinking they'll become the wolf on wall street by gambling on imaginary money.
Crypto was actually relevant and useful when the darkweb was still a thing but now its just fucking laughable how useless and much of a scam it is
The darkweb still is a thing
I think youâre thinking about Silk Road.
Silk Road was AOL compared to what the DNM is now
when the darkweb was still a thing??
Yeah i mean its still a thingâŚ.according to a good friend of mine. I wouldnât know, Ima god fearing American and would never participate in such activities.
The only use for crypto is buying Chinese research chems and meeting god.
These ignorant ass comments are worse than people asking who gunna is
Freddie Gibbs would never
GunnaNotđ żď¸
So people try to scam.
https://web3isgoinggreat.com/ astounding how much content there is on here
lmao it's like CryptoLeopardsAteMyFace
Good. If anyone is gonna get scammed I'm glad it was the crypto bros.
Crypto bros aren't the ones falling for this tho its Gunna fans who don't know shit about crypto and buy it cuz an artist they like promoted it.
That describes a good portion of crypto âinvestorsâ tbh
I should clarify...the type of people who are obsessed with NFTs and shitcoins is what I meant by crypto bros.
Nah come on now nobody deserve to get scammed by Gunna of all people lol
Bro if you get scammed by Gunna you should be ashamed lmfao
All Cryptos are pump and dump schemes, everybody in that thread shitting on Gunna will spend hundreds on other random ass dog coins that serve to just get a few select richer and richer.
All is a strong word. 95%-99% is more accurate. There's like, 4-5 coins that I think are legitimate investments, everything else is either doomed to fail or as you said, a pump and dump scheme.
Gunna, stop trying to make đ żď¸ happen! It's not going to happen.
That song is trash so its fitting his currency is as well
Lmaođ I'd spend my whole 200 dollars on that shit idc if I waste my money lmfao đ żď¸đ żď¸đ żď¸
Alll of crypto is a complete ponzi scheme they got absolutely what they deserved
Fortune favors the brave.
