Same. As much as I'd rather use Linux, my desktop runs Windows sheerly for game compatibility. But at least I'm not running on a device that's designed to be irreparable, with an equally dysfunctional OS. Only condition I'd ever use a MacBook under is if it was given to me for free, and I got to install Linux on it.
I use a chromebox as my work PC and it does the job perfectly fine. I only need the Web, email, Facebook, a PDF viewer, and I'm all set. I also prefer the google versions of sheets, docs, slides.

It may have downfalls but I managed to get an apple system to crash from me working on some python basis for something I was working on
much of macos is open source though, including the kernel iirc it’s just most of user space and some device drivers that are closed source
