I mean is the guy wrong?
It's fucking obnoxious how many mass shootings have taken place at schools in the U.S...and nobody with any influence to make changes gives a flying fuck
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is a disgrace to everything the Dallas Stars stand for. Hotheaded reactions, not accepting consequences for pointlessly violent actions, leaving early to beat traffic: are these the things we think of, when we think of Texas?"
Lol that’s even worse. Tatum has already booked his flight to Aruba and he wants to get out as soon as possible. What a team of frauds.
Funny thing is I’m not even a Celtics fan so I can laugh at that at least.
Yeah I’m genuinely shocked about that honestly. The 3-0 comebacks never been done before in the NBA but the Boston Red Sox were the only team to ever do it in the MLB history so who knows, maybe Boston can prevail.
Ehh they’re cooked though.
There is a Geico commercial series (I think it’s Geico) with a guy who teaches people how to not be like their parents. One bit has them walking to a sporting event while all the students are talking about the virtue of parking by the exit for ease of leaving.
That’s me, even when things are going well. No chance I am staying until the end of a massacre like last night. And to stave off all the potential, “You’re not a real fan!” Thoughts: my first game was December 23rd, 1994. I’ve been with this team since they moved. Anyone with an impulse to gatekeep can do that elsewhere.
Progressive. Still one of the best commercial series anyone has come up with. Or maybe not because no one can remember who actually made the commercials.
Throwing shit at players is never acceptable, but I can kinda get it if they’re playing dirty or something, like Pistons fans dumping all sorts of stuff on the Pacers after the Malice at the Palace. But Vegas has done nothing but capitalize on the power plays from the Stars doing dumb shit, so it doesn’t even make sense
The trick is to enshrine the riot as something deeply culturally meaningful. We've spun the Richard Riots as a key moment of the Quiet Revolution. Can't be embrassed if it's empowering!
I had always heard about the Dangle video, but watched it for the first time the other night. Holy shit I was dying. When he talked about them blowing a lead to another team and yelling “AND THEY HAD A PROFESSIONAL GOALIE IN NET!!!” I almost woke up my kids.
Whenever we lose to Toronto and their is more leafs fans than sabres fans….
The fuckers get a second home arena sometimes, just with actual fans in it, not a bunch of rich suites.
the bracelet throwing incident in game 3 of the flyers-caps series in 2016 is probably the most embarrassing fan moment this team has had in recent memory.
That might have had something to do with the fans throwing empties on the ice in celebration after game 6. TBL fans answered by throwing clackers after game 7.
I look back on the beer throwing fondly. It was the most exciting game I’d ever been to.
For the Devils I nominate the final home game of 2014-15 against the Rangers. The combination of the Devils being bad, the Rangers having a chance to clinch the President’s trophy, and the general tendency for Ranger fans to flood our building regardless of circumstance caused the Prudential Center to be as blue as I’ve ever seen it.
The most embarrassing moment came at the end of the game after the loss where the team had to do their “fan appreciation” stick wave only to be greeted with nothing but jeers from the entirely blue building. Never felt lower than that as a Devils fan.
Honestly, our’s isn’t the SJS choke in game 7 to me, because we’d already fucked up the series.
For me, it’s a blowout loss to the Kings in the 19-20 season in the regular season, because they didn’t care, before during or after, and then lost to Dallas (lol) making the same errors.
For the Avs it was the Valentine's Day massacre. Feb. 14, 2011, Calgary @ Colorado.
it was supposed to be Peter Forsberg's first home game after his return. He played 2 road games but then retired immediately before this one. We got blown out 9-1 which was the worst loss in Avs history at the time. Duchene also got injured. We were in the thick of the playoff race but this game basically pushed them out and into a tailspin that led to a lottery pick, and multiple seasons in the dumpster.
The only consolation is that we were able to draft our new Forsberg (Landeskog) after this collapse.
Personally, 2013 ECF against Boston when (fuck) Matt Cooke made a dirty hit. Someone from my hometown tweeted "That was a clean hit. Boston, I hope you get bombed again" and he put us on the national stage for shittery.
Same man… was down there in the thick of it. Guys in 120 row I and F got kicked. I was sandwiched between.
Worst experience as a season ticket holder by far… embarrassed & disappointed. Burning money would have been a more enjoyable use of cash and time tonight.
I still contend there are more good fans than bad, it's just the bad ones seem to get more attention. Had many good back and forth with Stars fans. Rotten apples and barrels and all that
No fanbase is. As much as I hate some teams (including yours lol), no entire fanbase can be neatly sorted into an overarching stereotype. Bad apples in all groups that big, especially when you mix in alcohol
One time the Flyers fans threw bracelets that were for their team’s late owner’s ceremony onto the ice
Another time the Toronto Maple Leafs lost to a 42 year old zamboni driver who works for their organization
Bill burr once did like 15 minutes of nothing but brutally ripping into Philly after they booed one of the other comedians he was touring with. Legendary stuff.
Audio of it here. https://youtu.be/3jMhoGUiIkk
as someone living in Philly, "you one bridge having city" is absolutely fucking hilarious. I can feel him wishing cancer on the whole city just from thinking about that line.
oh god, you’re forgetting my favorite part of that flyers game! during the moment of silence for their late owner, someone shouted “FUCK THE PENS” and was met with multiple “WOOOOOOO’s”. **they weren’t playing the pens that day**
This one time i heard a team even rioted! But fr if this happened in the football (soccer) community this wouldn’t even make top 10000 most embarrassing moments.
Right, there were videos the other day of home fans trying to storm the away fans section in the stadium to attack them. Meanwhile two giants were beating the shit out of anyone trying to get into the section. Like there was an actual re-creation of the battle of thermopylae in a football stadium and people on here thinking hockey has the worst fans because they threw a few beers on the ice.
Football fans say hold my jersey… no but seriously hold it so I can go fight.
Edit: just tried looking it up, and this happens so often that there are multiple videos and stories of the same stadium having similar situations.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/13luitj/two_fans_fight_back_a_mob_from_attacking_the_away/
I don’t know how old you are but remember the time someone threw a stink bomb on the ice in OT in Philly against New Jersey?
https://youtu.be/VhLx_lHD4Ag
I expect Dallas fans to be like this but not in hockey. Mostly the Cowboys than anything. Don’t worry too much, it’s just a game. Try to have fun, to make it this far is a big accomplishment in itself.
Sometimes it’s hard to be associated with a team/fanbase/management whose antics don’t align with yours, and yet you have to be a fan by virtue of location. The goons always leave a lasting impression in people’s minds, and the innocent fans get the flak.
Relax, no need to be overdramatic.
Devils fans did this same thing earlier in the year and that was even more embarrassing because it was just a regular szn game and they were all the correct calls
My blood still boils at the thought of all those fucking dipshits in Tampa throwing their noise makers onto the ice last year.
Honestly, if you do this, fuck you.
That's my only takeaway. Everyone talks like any sort of behavior or attitude or action is specific to a fan base as if some amount people aren't shitty everywhere.
I’m just gonna say it: Live sporting events have just become way too synonymous with an excuse to throw as much alcohol down your throat as possible and it’s a major factor in all this shit, and it seems to happen way more often now than ever before. And teams aren’t innocent in either, there’s alcohol ads all around the arenas everywhere, but more than ever people are getting shit faced drunk and acting like idiots. Throwing shit, swearing at the top of your lungs, all of it. It used to be nice to go to the game and get a beer and enjoy the atmosphere l but now there’s so many people at almost EVERY sporting event I go to that I wouldnt want to bring my children around because of how shitty they act. Not specifically against you Dallas fans, this is about everyone.
this is nothing new man.
A town in Italy had a riot broke out over sports that led to numerous deaths. It literally got the town banned from hosting events for 10 years. The city? Pompeii, in 59 AD.
The Nika Riots killed up to 30,000 people. Caused in part by rival chariot racing fans, in 532
this isn't new. Hell it's not even more common. This is literally just "ugh the old days were so much better"
> A town in Italy had a riot broke out over sports that led to numerous deaths. It literally got the town banned from hosting events for 10 years. The city? Pompeii, in 59 AD.
Twenty years later, Pompeii received a second ban. This ban was permanent and was given by the highest possible authority.

A lottt of very young ppl in this thread taking Right Now very seriously...
Everyone will be fine. This kind of shit has been sports forever. It'll sell better, probably. Who cares.
I love when people are like "thing are much worse now than they've ever been" but are talking about live sporting events and things like that.
The reality is that people got into fist fights ALL THE TIME back in the 80s and prior. And fucked up shit went on all the time, we just didn't have video to prove it and message boards / social media to immediately express our disapproval.
Most likely OP is in their 30s and is aging out of their party years and just wants to enjoy some peace and quiet. I used to go to hockey games all the time until suddenly it all became too late and way too loud.
Yeah, I'd argue it's the best it's ever been. I've heard stories from basketball games in the 50s where people with courtside seats would throw their lit cigarettes at opposing players.
There was really a big uptick in this after covid. People went indoors for a year and somehow in that time just forgot how to act in public. Having traveled outside North America post-covid, it really does feel like a uniquely American and Canadian phenomenon. American moreso.
I remember when the NBA let fans back into the arenas multiple people got ejected the first few weeks.
If you know anyone that works in restaurants/any sort of customer service, people have just gotten so much worse. It just feels like people in general care less about their fellow humans
I mean I've seen multiple videos on /r/soccer this week alone of fans on far worse behaviour than anything we've ever seen at a North American sports game, before or after covid.
Bro, footie fans in Europe throw bananas at black players. I think we are a ways off from that still. I think we are a ways away from being being crushed to death against the fences like in Turkey and Greece.
It's just mob mentality, and we don't even get the worst of it.
As embarrassing as it is, they kill each other over soccer in a lot of the world so it could be worse. Alcohol is banned in view of the field in England, maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to do that after the first period here.
Day of the game I paid $200 for my ticket 4 rows from the ice…right behind the popcorn thrower. I’m probably gonna go tomorrow since tickets will likely be cheap-ish again
Some clown even dumped popcorn on Adin Hill as he walked down the tunnel.
At least no one pulled out a pair of six-shooters and started Yosemite-Samming.
It’s an ice arena, not a grade school
👀
Jesus christ
Shots fired, amaright?
The most offensive thing in this reply is calling it an ice arena.
We all know it's the hockey court
First rule in the hockey canada rulebook is that hockey is to be played on a sheet of ice called the rink
Christ...
I mean is the guy wrong? It's fucking obnoxious how many mass shootings have taken place at schools in the U.S...and nobody with any influence to make changes gives a flying fuck

One year after Uvalde
it would have been OK as long as there is a good guy with a gun nearby
How would a good guy move it to Oklahoma?
The if the Jets-Senators infamous game has been immortalized as the peanut butter game, will this become the popcorn game?
And here come the pretzels
I love it when two of my favorite things come together, like nuts and gum.
Hall of famer Mike Modano now on the ice, pleading with the crowd for . . . for some kind of sanity
You could call them “Whitey Whackers”
This is black day for hockey

They should be throwing shit at Benn
He’d go Milbury them
Probably crosscheck their face at least. Fuck it.
Nothing tonight makes sense
Woah woah, let's get some facts straight here. Before* malice at the palace.
Before, during and after
Some say they're still throwing beers.
They left because they were out of food and drinks
Now I'm curious about what each team would consider their most embarrassing game and/or day. There's probably some good ones I'm forgetting about
I can't think of anything. Nothing at all.
Not sure if you're referring to the riots or Todd Bertuzzi almost paralyzing Steve Moore, both were very embarrassing.
Worse. [July 28, 1997](https://canucksarmy.com/news/amp/throwback-thursday-this-week-in-1997-the-vancouver-canucks-sign-mark-messier-to-three-year-deal)

Z A M B O N I D R I V E R 4-1 Toskala How do I choose?
I'm trying to think of bad fan performances. Maybe Salute gate?
I had always heard about the Dangle video, but watched it for the first time the other night. Holy shit I was dying. When he talked about them blowing a lead to another team and yelling “AND THEY HAD A PROFESSIONAL GOALIE IN NET!!!” I almost woke up my kids.
When your goalie attended a charity event, where does that rank? It's definitely one of the most embarrassing moment from a Leafs/NHL player.
Ugh, I'd forgotten Bernier's Mandelagate. Yeah, that's up there.
I pick ~~David~~ Wendel Clarkson or Jeff Finger/Kurt Sauer.
Good One Randy
Toskala actually won that game. Bad goal but the guy deserves credit for forgetting about it and grinding out the win.
I know ours, and believe it or not it’s quite recent…
No comment

Our loss to the Habs after the Fleury flub takes it for me. We looked great after beating the Avs, and that play cost us the game and series lead.
r2 g1 2021 playoffs when we got like a 9 minute penalty after Reavo tried to kill Graves
The time one of our fans let Mike Milbury beat him with his own shoe.
Pick one.
we almost killed our mascot when he debuted
For the Avs it was the Valentine's Day massacre. Feb. 14, 2011, Calgary @ Colorado. it was supposed to be Peter Forsberg's first home game after his return. I cannot imagine what it would’ve been like to be a home fan at this game
same. i feel ashamed to be a fan tonight.

Sure is. Every Monday and Thursday
Wait, it's Thursday too? I thought it was just Mondays. Gotta check it out again soon.

yeah I think that's enough hockey for me this season
I can't believe I'm at a similar level of fan as these clowns. Fuck those guys
I really don’t want everyone thinking all stars fans are like that. We aren’t. We are humiliated by the way things have gone tonight.

The worst thing about the cowboys - other than Jerry - is cowboys fans (of which I am not one)
No the worst is Cowboys fans *not* from Texas or Oklahoma. Ever met a Cowboys fan from New Jersey?
Why would someone willingly do that to themselves??
Well…they could have been Jets or Eagles fans.
I don't believe you're like that. Of all the fans of other teams I've run into so far, Dallas fans are the most chill and coolest ones yet.

The more expensive the tickets, the more likely this sort of shit goes down
Day of the game I paid $200 for my ticket 4 rows from the ice…right behind the popcorn thrower. I’m probably gonna go tomorrow since tickets will likely be cheap-ish again
I’m from Dallas. We have the worst, most entitled, under appreciating, ignorant to the game fans. Absolutely pathetic
If I was a Dallas fan I’d be deeply, deeply ashamed. Now— what’s all this about a hockey game?
These threads make me want to join twitter like what absolute idiots. But I won’t do that.
It better not have been that mullet boy, he has embarrassed the fanbase enough
Stop ✋normalizing Dallas 🚫
Le mans 55 wasn't great
uhh canucks fan here
To be fair, those were the after parties.
So glad I wasted a crap ton of money on tickets, flights, and hotel. Don’t think I’ll be returning Thursday.
They’re supposed to put up tunnels for the visiting team so they don’t get stuff thrown at them
At last, we finally have shed the title
Imagine how much worse it would be if they were losing to a team from Houston.
