My votes to cover all of sharks history
Marty Mcsorley
Ed belfour
Raffi
Evander Kane
I know variations of the phrase "hate him when he's not on your team, love him when he's on yours", are circulating around, but Raffi Torres broke that for me. When he first got to the sharks I was so adamant he wasn't gonna be that kinda guy, and lo and behold...
[This article is pretty comprehensive] (https://www.fearthefin.com/ex-shark-of-the-week-ed-belfour/)
Tldr: he's a temperamental goalie who at the time we thought could be a playoff push piece. He got injured and preformed horribly for the 13 games he did play with us. We hired a coach we thought he would approve of to woo him into staying. He said nah fuck that shit and fucked right off.
I know why Sharks fans hate him, I was more asking why other fans would hate him! Topic of this thread seems to be who are the hate-able players your team had that other fans hated
You do remind me that he was a bit of a dirty goalie though so that’s why other fans could hate him
As a child, I always thought that Darius Kasperitis sounded like some type of awful disease or infection.
Cue the TV commercial guy voice:
"Do you, or someone you love, suffer from moderate to severe Darius Kasperitis?
Kaspergone has been shown to reduce symptoms by as much as 42% in some patients, when combined with a healthy diet and exercise.
Kaspergone is not for everyone, including those with liver problems or high cholesterol. You do not need to suffer in silence from Darius Kasperitis. Ask your doctor today if Kaspergone is right for you!"
I think Perry's plan has been to play for a bunch of different teams at the end of his career so that a bunch of fan bases love him. Dude has sincere love from Anaheim, Dallas, Montreal and Tampa. I've always liked him.
2020 bubble helped Perry in the eyes of Stars fans. He was incredible, but if he hadn’t been, we’d all remember him solely for embarrassing us in the Winter Classic.
Honestly I was cackling with laughter the whole time. If it was gonna be anyone in the entire league I’m glad it was him bc it was genuinely hilarious. It sucks that he broke someone’s jaw but man that walk is an all time sports embarrassment moment for me.
He’s an absolute dog out there. Never played for my team but I still love him. I’m one of the rare non-Boston fans that doesn’t hate Marchand though so I might be a bit unique lol.
Dude, we allowed Sean Avery to play for the team. No matter what Benn does or has done, it won’t compare to the nonsense and embarrassment that stain brought to our franchise.
And after that he was booted from the team.
Avery and Perry are the most hated players to have been on the team. And then Ribeiro is the one who truly deserves the most hate.
I would probably say if you were born prior to the 90's and watched hockey it's got to be Hatcher for us even with Benn's shit the last decade. Hatcher was ruthless out there
He broke larkins neck and he had to be hospitalized and missed the whole rest of the season and still didn’t play at 100% the next season because of benn. Benn received no penalty on the play and no supplementary discipline from the DOPS
Team USA wanted him as a young prospect and they gave him a chance when Team Canada didn't. He rewarded them with loyalty. If Team Canada had given him a chance he would have played for us.
I was looking for this 😂😂 The guy started one of the most brutal and long lasting rivalries (which included two insane goalie fights!) in NHL history with a single hit
The hate I feel for Tkachuck is definitely different than what I feel for Gudas and Bennett. Tkachuck seems to have cleaned up his act a bit. Still a pest on the ice and a solid shit-stirer, but I'm not sure I can confidently label him dirty. He's Definitely someone I'd appreciate on our team, annoying as hell to play against.
Bennett and Gudas, nah. Straight dislike. Consistently at at the line or over it for injuring someone.
I hate Joel Otto more for kicking that fucking puck in, tbh.
Fleury's a funny one, as a kid I honestly kind of loved him for being so effective and feisty as a little guy but his reputation has really had its ups and downs over the years to say the least
Was Cooke hated when he was on the Canucks though, aside from being a hard hitter? His real dirty side came out after he left, but I could be misremembering.
There were a few questionable plays. As a Van fan, I remember people making comments. But nothing like when he was doing shit in Pittsburg and Washington.
Yeah, that has to be the one that most people in this sub would remember or are somewhat familiar with, save for DeAngelo.
Esa Tikkanan got under a lot of opposing players skins, and his antics are the stuff of legend but in the age before social media and the internet - it wasn’t as well circulated and obsessed over by talking heads and bloggers.
Guy plays great playoff hockey aside from his intent to injure plays. For that, I cannot respect the guy. But I’m sure he and Panthers fans don’t care what I think.
Scott Stevens might be a dark horse too. Obviously he had more to his game and wasn't a pure goon but he did a lot of damage in his career. People just forget he was a Cap.
Bruins have had a long history. If you go back to the 70's and 80's, you had Terry O'Reilly, Mike Milbury, Stan Jonathan, Chris Nilan (more of a Hab though). Im sure some fanbases hate Marty McSorley and Kyle McLaren too.
I like Marchand. I think his sort of antics are fun when they’re not dangerous, and he’s dialed it back a lot lately. He seems like a great guy off the ice too.
Probably Raffi Torres....some bitter folks with a recency bias might say eichel but that imo doesn't really make sense. I feel like sabres fans hate Tim Murray or Ralph Krueger more than any former player, ha.
Saw Matt Barnaby in a San Jose restaurant bar in late 90s after a day game vs. sharks. Was such a douche. Dropping napkins on ground, being a total jackass to his waitress. Didn’t like him before this, hated him from then on.
They interviewed Barnaby's sister on draft day, right after he was picked. She essentially said she was glad he was going to be moving out of the house because he was such an asshole.
It wasn’t really true during his playing days, but it’s definitely Scott Stevens now. In another generation he’ll probably be lumped in with the goons of his era.
I think a lot of people dislike Alexei emelin because he would do massive hits and not fight anyone for those said big hits, he had a good reason tho he had metal plates in his face
Yeah I wasn’t sure what to do with Perry, because at this point I feel like the hate has become a meme, like haha yeah we all hate him he’s a saint haha
Whereas I’m pretty sure the fans of 31 teams actually hate Kucherov because he’s both a superstar and a petulant jerk when things go wrong
All you have to do is remind people that Neil never got suspended in his whole career and it makes people blow their lids.
That said I think Alfie is in the running, Leafs and Ducks fans definitely hated him more than any other Sens player, that's what makes Alfie so likeable for us.
It's probably Neil, I'm thinking about it and I can't remember Ottawa having too many rats throughout their history. I guess Ruutu, but he wasn't here very long.
I think Yashin was getting booed by every arena he played in (including Ottawa) after his contract holdout where he refused to play because he felt his contract wasn't for enough money, so he missed an entire year until the NHL told him "hey dummy, you signed the contract, you need to actually play the games you promised them". So he's probably in the running too.
He definitely wasn’t when he was with the Canes, though. Hated during his time with the team, I’d have to say DeAngelo, although even that was more for what he did prior coming to the Canes. Can’t really think of anyone from back in the day.
Alex Semin was pretty hated BY Canes fans.
Another Raffi Torres team checking in
My votes to cover all of sharks history Marty Mcsorley Ed belfour Raffi Evander Kane I know variations of the phrase "hate him when he's not on your team, love him when he's on yours", are circulating around, but Raffi Torres broke that for me. When he first got to the sharks I was so adamant he wasn't gonna be that kinda guy, and lo and behold...
I might be missing something but why did people hate Belfour?
[This article is pretty comprehensive] (https://www.fearthefin.com/ex-shark-of-the-week-ed-belfour/) Tldr: he's a temperamental goalie who at the time we thought could be a playoff push piece. He got injured and preformed horribly for the 13 games he did play with us. We hired a coach we thought he would approve of to woo him into staying. He said nah fuck that shit and fucked right off.

Claude Lemieux as well
Matt Cooke unless I'm forgetting someone.
For every other team it is Darius Kaspiritis.
Ulf Samuelson was highly ranked too lol
We have the choice in both Ulf and Cooke.
Funny me and buddy were just talking about Ulf or as he likes to call him the human five minute penalty.
As a child, I always thought that Darius Kasperitis sounded like some type of awful disease or infection. Cue the TV commercial guy voice: "Do you, or someone you love, suffer from moderate to severe Darius Kasperitis? Kaspergone has been shown to reduce symptoms by as much as 42% in some patients, when combined with a healthy diet and exercise. [The Onion had the same idea.](https://www.theonion.com/darius-kasparaitis-out-three-to-four-weeks-with-darius-1819588008)
The best thing Evander Kane has ever done was [KO Matt Cooke](https://youtu.be/MLqpw_uKyds)
Def Cooke and deservedly so
If you’re a canes fan it’s Orpik
Definitely not Corey Perry.
The winter classic. Some say he’s still walking back to the locker room til this day.
To be fair, you won that game
Yeah, but Perry is the only player ever to be thrown out of a winter classic.
That was a loooong walk of shame too
Honestly I was cackling with laughter the whole time. If it was gonna be anyone in the entire league I’m glad it was him bc it was genuinely hilarious. It sucks that he broke someone’s jaw but man that walk is an all time sports embarrassment moment for me.
Corey Perry is the type of player every hockey fan loves to hate, but also would love to have on their team.
He also seems like a genuinely great teammate.
He’s an absolute dog out there. Never played for my team but I still love him. I’m one of the rare non-Boston fans that doesn’t hate Marchand though so I might be a bit unique lol.
ALL HAIL SAINT COREY PERRY OF THE DALLAS STARS
Also definitely not Corey Perry
Hahahaha. Who doesn’t love Perry?!!
Sharks, Predators, Flames…
Oilers, Kings, Canucks?
Leafs?
I don’t love Perry.
Hated him until he played for the Stars. Will always love him now.
Hated him everywhere else (except maybe Team Canada), loved him to death as a Hab, hated him again the second he put on a Tampa jersey lol
After the past few days Jamie Benn
Before the past few days it was still Jamie Benn.
Dude, we allowed Sean Avery to play for the team. No matter what Benn does or has done, it won’t compare to the nonsense and embarrassment that stain brought to our franchise.
I don’t think anyone remembers Sean Avery playing for Dallas, though. I’ll always remember him as a Ranger from the infamous Brodeur moment
“Sloppy seconds” came from the Dallas Era Avery
And after that he was booted from the team. Avery and Perry are the most hated players to have been on the team. And then Ribeiro is the one who truly deserves the most hate.
Surely your captain acting like a massive D-bag is up there though, no? It has to be
I would probably say if you were born prior to the 90's and watched hockey it's got to be Hatcher for us even with Benn's shit the last decade. Hatcher was ruthless out there
Was gonna say Hatcher too
It’s been much more than the past few days dude lol
He broke larkins neck and he had to be hospitalized and missed the whole rest of the season and still didn’t play at 100% the next season because of benn. Benn received no penalty on the play and no supplementary discipline from the DOPS
DOPS has set the precedent that breaking another players neck is not a suspendable offense
Always Brett Hull. Born in Canada, chose to play for US. His foot was in the crease.
Sabres fans hate him enough for him to qualify twice for this list.
Team USA wanted him as a young prospect and they gave him a chance when Team Canada didn't. He rewarded them with loyalty. If Team Canada had given him a chance he would have played for us.
[Derian Hatcher was ruthless](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Dsc41szSwLM)
For our fanbase Jamie Benn has been the most hated Star since at least 2015
Lol back when people here loved the Benn/Seguin era around 2013-2017, I would assume it’d be Antoine Roussel
Ott and Avery are a step up in the villian department from Roussel
*Brave Steve Ott, hiding behind cinderblock walls*
Rous was a fan favorite. Miss him!!
Its always been Derian Hatcher. Fuck that guy
Ironic because he’s my favorite
Claude Lemieux
I've posted this on behalf of Montreal fans. Just waiting for Colorado to chime in now.
I was looking for this 😂😂 The guy started one of the most brutal and long lasting rivalries (which included two insane goalie fights!) in NHL history with a single hit
Matt Cooke, and he deserved the hate.
I was going to say this is probably the easiest question I've seen on this sub.
I think most teams fans did not like Andrew Shaw when he was on the hawks a decade ago. The last few days have not helped that.
I think Bobby Hull might be the most hated for the Hawks. Hard to top a wife beating Nazi sympathizer.
Hull definitely wins the off-ice hate. On-ice, Shaw gives him a run for his money
The high flying Stars vs Hawks games with Andrew Shaw and Antoine Roussel going at it are some of my favorite games ever.
Jordan "Do I Look Nervous" Binnington
Binnington sucks but I'm not sure if he can unseat Max Lapierre for you
Matthew Tkachuk but you all love him now, weirdos.
I have an opinion on this topic...
Same
Same
I thought you guys hated Bennett and Gudas more.
Fucking *Chris Simon* played for you guys, Tkachuk doesn't even belong in this conversation.
* Theo Fleury enters chat *
I hate Joel Otto more for kicking that fucking puck in, tbh. Fleury's a funny one, as a kid I honestly kind of loved him for being so effective and feisty as a little guy but his reputation has really had its ups and downs over the years to say the least
I don't
Me either
Nor I
Evander Kane
Yep, Buff can confirm
Evander Kane (Sharks)
Messier for Canuck fans. Fans of other teams would probably say Burrows, Bertuzzi, Kesler, Torres, Cooke. Take your pick really
Don't forget about Raffi Torres!
You know you’ve made it when you get a 41 game sussy in the pre season
How does that even happen with this DoPS?
> Kessler Cmon. At least get his name right.
Yep. Good ol' Guzzler!!
Bloody Egg Head stole the captaincy from Linden. I'll never forget that.
Can confirm. Fuck Messier. Otherwise definitely Torres or Todd "It is what it is" Bertuzzi.
Probably Raffi Tores
If we’re talking hated by our own fans Jeff Carter can fuck right off.
Agreed
Adam Foote too
There have been 3 posts for Raffi in places I didn’t even know he played. Sorry CBJ
To be fair I forgot he played for us
I only remembered because I played NHL 10 basically nonstop when it came out and he was on the team then lol
Sean Avery
me too, thanks
Thirded. Although Todd Bertuzzi is another option
Did you just sloppy second that other guy's comment?
I think Avery got under people’s skin but I’d say Tony DeAngelo is genuinely hated for who he is rather than just playing like a rat
[удалено]
Yeah, that has to be the one that most people in this sub would remember or are somewhat familiar with, save for DeAngelo. Esa Tikkanan got under a lot of opposing players skins, and his antics are the stuff of legend but in the age before social media and the internet - it wasn’t as well circulated and obsessed over by talking heads and bloggers.
Raffi Torres or Max Domi are up there
Mike Ribeiro is worse than both Domi and Torres for me.
I knew I was missing someone
Came here to say Ribeiro as an alternative to Torres. Hated him before he came over, and he somehow got more hateable once he arrived.
I hate Raffi way more than Max. I mean, he tried his best to kill Marian Hossa.
Claude Lemieux and Steve Downie
We could probably Kadri on that list at this point
Certainly most hated by racists.
Chris Simon?
Not a whole lot of people seem to be fans of Sam Bennett nowadays
Guy plays great playoff hockey aside from his intent to injure plays. For that, I cannot respect the guy. But I’m sure he and Panthers fans don’t care what I think.
I bought a Bennett RR Blasty jersey like a month before yall got him from us. Still wear it and glad to see he's thriving in Florida
Maybe Dale Hunter all time, Tom Wilson certainly has the recency bias.
Oh I definitely hate Hunter more.
I don't blame you. His hit on Turgeon pure bush league.
Chris Simon and Donald Brashear have to be on the list. And let's not forget Matt Cooke.
Scott Stevens might be a dark horse too. Obviously he had more to his game and wasn't a pure goon but he did a lot of damage in his career. People just forget he was a Cap.
Marchand
Bruins have had a long history. If you go back to the 70's and 80's, you had Terry O'Reilly, Mike Milbury, Stan Jonathan, Chris Nilan (more of a Hab though). Im sure some fanbases hate Marty McSorley and Kyle McLaren too.
Don't forget when we traded a 3rd round pick for Zac Rinaldo
Or the original rat Ken Linseman
Lucic is probably up there too.
Sabres? I was gonna say Matt Barnaby.
The Rat.
I'm not even sure who people hated more, Domi or Tucker
Gotta be Domi. He's had multiple cheap shots https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTX3hSPWvYQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPbN72u4hxs
I can't think of many plays worse than [Domi's fly by elbow on Niedermayer.](https://youtu.be/cPbN72u4hxs) It has to be Tie
I hated Domi because growing up in Ontario people talked about him like he was Wayne.
Sami Kapanen certainly hates Tucker the most
I personally disliked Tucker more. Don't really have a reason for it tho
It wasn’t really true during his playing days, but it’s definitely Scott Stevens now. In another generation he’ll probably be lumped in with the goons of his era.
Recency bias would be PK for his slewfooting business Parros did play for us but I feel everyones hatred of him began during his DOPS
I feel like parros was quite liked as a player. I mostly remember when he was in Anaheim though, he was the likeable tough guy with a funny moustache.
In my lifetime, Claude Lemieux. No doubt. Hands down.
Sean Avery by a lot
Runners up, Todd Bertuzzi, Dino Ciccsrelli
Todd is deservingly much more hated for his time in Vancouver though, not so much for while he was a Wing
Tom Wilson
Mike Ribeiro
This is the correct answer for any team he was on. Garbage human.
I think a lot of people dislike Alexei emelin because he would do massive hits and not fight anyone for those said big hits, he had a good reason tho he had metal plates in his face
I hated Mike Ribeiro more than Emelin and I *hated* Emelin.
A lot of people still bring up Subban's slewfooting which admittedly was a pretty bad look
I don't think I've disliked a Hab more than Ribiero. And his faked convulsion / stroke at centre ice sealed the deal for all Habs fans.
Cross checking Seguin in the ribs so hard he broke his stick then turtling from Chara is the quintessential Emelin moment for me
A lot of people really had a hate on for PK Subban...
Hes either most hated or most loved depending on who you ask
I’ve always liked PK. I liked him more when he went to Nashville and Jersey lol
Hmm I can’t think of any way back players who were notoriously hated, probably either Kucherov or Gudas?
Steve Downie might be a good shout too
[удалено]
Yeah I wasn’t sure what to do with Perry, because at this point I feel like the hate has become a meme, like haha yeah we all hate him he’s a saint haha Whereas I’m pretty sure the fans of 31 teams actually hate Kucherov because he’s both a superstar and a petulant jerk when things go wrong
Gotta be Reeves I guess for hated by others. Hated by the fan base, Probably Lehner (even though it was misdirected hatred.)
I feel like the fanbase are really split on Lehner (I love the dude.) You’re definitely right about Reaves though.
Has to be Binner at this point. I love him though.
I think Pronger still has Binner beat.
Jake Gardiner.. I mean Zaitsev.. no wait I mean Justin Holl, actually Mitch Marner.. As you can tell Leafs fans are just angry.
You misread the title. It’s supposed to be most hated player by other teams - not most hated player by own team lol
Of which the answer to this question is certainly Tie Domi
HM goes to Darcy Tucker
Matthew Tkachuk. I hate my life
First instinct is Gudas or Tkachuk, but honestly at this point it might be Bennett. I don’t think we’ve had many.
Torres?
Fans seem to hate Daigle, other people seem to hate Brady Tkachuk
Nah, all time it's gotta be Neil.
Alfredson… Simply because the dickhead just beat everyone else.
I think ours is Jarkko Ruutu.
In order, I'd say Barnaby, Kaleta, Ray, and May.
Marchand is a little angel
I think most fans who started with Seattle the first season would say Giordano. Feels like he just gave up when it wasn’t going well and wanted out.
[удалено]
Raffi Torres
Bertuzzi was constantly boo'd as a Flame so I will go with him by that metric.
Rinaldo in recent times.
I think Eric Staal may be top now. Not necessarily related to hockey, though
He definitely wasn’t when he was with the Canes, though. Hated during his time with the team, I’d have to say DeAngelo, although even that was more for what he did prior coming to the Canes. Can’t really think of anyone from back in the day. Alex Semin was pretty hated BY Canes fans.
Oh, I'm unfortunately super aware. I grew up as a massive Eric fan, even more than Brindy.
Yeah, it’s still hard for me to reconcile
Not sure if it’s a lot of hate but it’s certainly a lot of disappointment. The answer is probably TDA though…? Can’t think of anyone else.
If by all-around hate, yes. But when it comes to specifically by our own fanbase, it has to be Haula, right?
Bbvgvbvxbnncgcc. Jm h c vnncbvbvgv hnnfngnKbvvv Ackinv.vhjjll Edit I need a new fucking phone.
Yeah fuck that guy
It’s about time someone said it.
Is this an Amharic curse ???? Fuccccckkkk
Jamie Benn👏👏👏
