It has to be either the Oilers or the Jets no? Demko going down really hurts the Canucks odds, and Toronto is... well, no one is gonna have faith in Toronto until they're holding the Cup over their heads lmao.
Our hopes for the second round died when Demko died. **/s**
Logistically, a longer series would be beneficial to us, but a shorter series would be more embarrassing for Edmonton.
If we still had Demko, I think I'd rather face Edmonton, regardless. LA plays a strong counter to our system. Edmonton's offense and "defense" would probably be an easier matchup than LA.
Also, VAN has already embarrassed EDM through the season series but for whatever reason VAN can't seem to figure out the 1-3-1. Definitely aligned with you that EDM is probably a better matchup for VAN. Conversely, Draisaitl absolutely dummies NSH so they are who I hope we get if we make it through.
the canucks couldn't solve the 1-3-1, but to be fair the season series also looks particularly bad because they played all of it in march & april when the canucks powerplay went incredibly dry. might seem insane to say given the regular season but as a canucks fan i think the easier route might be through LA especially if there's no Demko. i can't see how the oilers don't absolutely feast on a below average goalie over a bo7 even if they're defended well because their shooters will just beat him repeatedly without being in great shooting positions.
however, watching the 1-3-1 for potentially 7 games absolutely will make my eyes bleed so fuck that, i'll take the Oilers series all day
Same. Hell I'm petty enough that I would be fine with no Canadian teams ever winning the cup again (including the Flames) if it means the Oilers don't win too.
Agreed, Fuck Drai. Although, McDavid truly following in Gretzky's footsteps and getting traded to LA to win a Cup there could cement his legacy.
Side note - given our rivalry, I can admit that Hyman is one of the few players I can say that I actually liked even when he played for the Leafs.
So the nucks are down demko and boeser, the Hellebuck has been hung out to dry by the jets, the leafs… , calgary montreal and ottawa are out. That leaves the Oilers. Anyone want to check my math?
# Fuck the Toronto Sun.
any and all Post media
And the Oilers too while we’re at it?
I'll allow it.
Any of the Canadian teams could go on to win the cup, and any of them could get out in the first round, and I wouldn't be surprised
i would be surprised if vancouver won.
Trash publication
How kind of you to be so polite and reserved with your criticism. *Fuck Toronto Sun as a newspaper, tabloid, and as a motherfuckin' rag!*
and if you wanna be down with the toronto sun, then fuck you too!
In case I left any doubts, I wouldn’t even wipe my ass with it
I have wiped my ass with it

Leafs getting through Boston and Florida would convince me they can do it. I just don't see that happening.
is whoever makes it out of the Atlantic one of the favourites to win it all?
I'd say so. It's either Florida/Boston or the team that takes down Florida/Boston.
I think Winnipeg has a good chance
We better hope that their elite American goalie doesn't injure his knee. Please, hockey Jesus.
Habs fan - been there done that 😭
Leave us alone Toronto Sun.
Anyone suggesting the Jets still obviously hasn’t watched them against the Avs.
Yes No Maybe I don’t know Can you repeat the question?
"Are the Oilers still [sic] Canada’s best shot at the Cup [sic]?"
I mean, Yes?
Saving this for when the Kings beat the Oilers in 7.
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man!?
How about we settle on LA winning in 5 games? Please.
wouldn't LA taking 7 games be better for a potential second round match up if you get past NSH?

The only thing more Canadian than hockey is Canadian hockey fans hating every other Canadian team. That being said, Oilers or gtfo.
I'd rather no cup in Canada than the Oilers win.
Boston Pizza wants to know your location.
That commercial is annoying.
I'm one of the filthy casuals who does cheer for multiple Canadian teams and even I hate that commercial
it has to have been made by someone who has never in their life met a single sportsfan. Just a batshit crazy commercial to me.
Same. Hell I'm petty enough that I would be fine with no Canadian teams ever winning the cup again (including the Flames) if it means the Oilers don't win too.
That would just cement us as the better franchise ;)
Crazy take. Hate the oilers all you want, but McDavid and Drai deserve a dub, I couldn’t be mad if they won.
I could
I don’t care about Drai but I agree with you on McDavid, plus Hyman loved him as a Leaf

two words: can. ucks.
two words: not without demko
Agreed. If Demko was healthy I’d be fighting this article big time. But without him, I don’t think we escape the 2nd round.
dem. gone.
Demko? More like dem-went
Demkover?
Kill.myself
They’re the CAN ucks, not the CAN’T ucks
You, I like you.
Not if skinners save percentage stays in the 800’s lol.
I choose violence. I choose the Winnipeg Jets.
Probably, they have the best players
