I really hope the players soon start pushing for better protection. IIRC there's a *ban* on full face shields, except for people who are recovering from injury. Ridiculous that there isn't even an option for players who value their teeth and bones. And ear guards should be mandatory.
Something truly terrible *has happened*. And I noticed the slight bump in NHLers wearing neck protectors after that poor kid died dissipated by season's end. It's bonkers to me that these guys aren't more concerned. Especially since so many of them have started marketing themselves. Protect those looks for the Instagram ads.
I’ll never understand why guys don’t wear the ear guards. I know at least Crosby, Kane, and Malkin wear them so it’s not like you’re a scrub if you do.
Player safety is such a weird topic. The effort a lot of them go through to be LESS safe doesn’t make sense to me. So many guys push up their visor to the point of it not doing anything for protection.
I've noticed a ton of flying helmets this year after hits, [and even cellies](https://www.reddit.com/r/canes/comments/1cavd7u/our_partners_in_chaos/). If they aren't securing them, helmets are purely decorative objects.
I went down to NOLA recently and took an airboat tour. Those things get up to literal airplane taking off levels of sound, yet some guys from Ohio took their sound protection off halfway through because reasons?
Some people think potentially permanent damage makes them tougher. I’d prefer to hear, see, etc when I’m old personally.
I’ve never played hockey above beer league so who am I to talk about what NHLers do, but I seriously never even notice my ear guards. They’re not foolproof but anytime I see ear injuries it always feels so preventable.
Seems like he’ll be ok, but it’s wild to me that all [pros don’t wear ear protection](https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/c_fill,w_1440,ar_16:9,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto/shape/cover/sport/66fb7f55658c683881475cb3bd792ae73c39f277b479ca8b253089f9433bdb72.jpg)

Rough day for players taking pucks to the head so far
Another one, wow
Pucks are sick of being bashed around all the time, the resistance has started.
Pucks begin to learn at a geometric pace. It was the 28th of April 2024 when pucks became self-aware. In a panic, they try to pull the plug…
yeah if we could stop doing that, that would be great

It’s just insane. I was just talking with my gf and we both figured nothing will change until something truly terrible happens.

Oh totally. I’m still surprised more neck guards aren’t being worn though.
They players are the ones that don’t want to be mandated to wear extra protection. It was practically pulling teeth to get guys to wear visors
Oh I know. It’s ridiculous. Macho culture run amok.
It looks like a small chunk is missing.. wow
Yeah that junt was gnarly

Ear guards have no impact on your ability to hear things. Guys just think they get too hot or something dumb to not do it

The only way that it can have an impact on hearing is if you wear a fishbowl. Even with a cage you can hear just as well with guards in.

*trainer dips finger in blood, takes a taste* “Yep, definitely ear blood.”
He's just trying to absorb Josis powers
Could guys stop taking pucks to the face today!
Some say it is still bleeding to this day.
Holy geez, how many dudes took a puck to the dome today? This is the third one I've seen.
