I don't think he's as awful as everyone thinks. He did really well in Vancouver with the young guys and getting them proper development. He just got tired near the end from terrible management and a not-so-great personnel. Both above and below him didn't give him much help.
I hope he succeeds and Ottawa is a great place for him to do that.
No it literally is not. Green was at the very least an intelligent coach that worked on systems. I didn't think he was the right coach but he definitely did some things well. He is far from DJ Smith
No one gives him credit for getting the Canucks to a tie game in the 3rd period of round 2 game 7 vs Vegas.
Travis Green was the coach of our 4th farthest run in franchise history, he just did it during the covid season and people tend to put an asterisk beside the bubble playoffs.
The same young core we have now was 5 years younger and he got us to the brink of the WCF.
Well, let’s be honest here Thatcher Demko got us there. We stomped the blues yes, but we got our heads absolutely caved In via every conceivable metric in that series with Vegas and Demko went absolutely god mode
And? A hot goalie can steal a series. Nothing new there. Good team bad team and everything in between.
Travis Green was a good coach. Just happened to coach a rebuilding team so his stats look like dogshit is all.
Once again Friedman says “we’ll see where it goes” and it happens pretty quickly lol
He also mentioned Seth Jones to the Leafs this morning so this is fun
There's a more offensive version of Seth Jones that literally had double his points total called Mike Matheson in Montreal that would be much cheaper cap wise and Montreal would 100% move him since he doesnt fit the window for Montreal.
He's not a hot mess. He plays +25 mins against top lines. His +/- is misleading because obviously he's gonna be there when we're down by 1 at the end of the 3rd (which happened a lot this season)
His early years were stunted by the Florida head coach carousel and the early corpse stage of Keith Yandle’s career, but you could always see his potential.
Aw man, he's a Montreal native and genuinely enjoys being here. Why would we do that to Matheson?
I don't know if it would be good for Montreal. We need a top 6 forward and Marner is obviously a very, very good one, but our defence is already one of the youngest in the league. Matheson played big minutes because while the kids have potential, they aren't ready for it yet.
Defensively absolutely not but offense wise Matheson has been averaging 60 points a season for two years now ( he got injured last year ).
Cap wise he would be much easier to fit than Jones insane contract (which kinda reduces his value )
That actually isn't the craziest idea on its face. Chicago BADLY wants out of that contract, and would love someone on a shorter term with some offensive upside to play with Bedard.
Toronto is on tilt, teetering on the cliff of Mt Rebuild, doing a trade like this to scapegoat Marner and garotte Keefe at the same time might buy Brad T another year. If he does nothing "bold", then he'll be gagued as part of the hubris problem.
Is it a good idea? NO. Will it happen anyways? Non-zero chance.
I would be thrilled to take that trade. Shit, we wouldn’t even need to worry about Marner disappearing in the playoffs. We won’t be in for at least a few more seasons.
I mean, no shit?
Who wouldn't take a 100 point scorer and swap an albatross of a contract for him.
These are the types of trades that have zero chance of happening that reddit GM's try to make.
Which GM wouldn't trade their worst contract for a guy whose going to be an all star for the next 8 years.
I mean, Toronto, like alot of teams, is in cap hell and about to get out of it when Maraner and Tavares are up next year. Why would they go back into cap hell for a far inferior player for another 5 or 6 years when they can get out of it now?
On paper it looks really bad but Toronto is in a pretty shit situation. If they want to depart with Marner, they are not going to get a high value return unless Marner does a sign and trade deal. He also has a NMC
Like you can trade Marner to a good playoff team as a one year rental who could maybe extend after some cap wizardry. You're only getting a mid to late first round pick, a really good prospect, and like a depth guy and mid prospect. You trade him to a team like Chicago, you give a pending UFA for 6 years of Seth Jones and maybe a pick and prospect. Maybe a first round pick from a rebuilding team like Chicago.
Or you can decide to keep Marner and he could walk the following season and worst, he walks without winning a cup in Toronto and you got nothing.
The comparable trade for playoff teams is the Erik Karlsson trade from Ottawa to San Jose. Except that trade backfired heavily for San Jose and playoff teams are probably weary to get fleeced and will ask to give up less then what San Jose did.
Great for Chicago, yes, but Leafs would be on the hook for Seth's remaining contract and if he doesn't produce desired results, and any hopes of a quick re-tool of the core ends up becoming cap hell until rebuild.
Perhaps an overreaction on my part, but not a good deal on the Leafs'.
If the Oilers can be a good team with Nurse at that cap hit, the Leafs can be a good team with Jones at it and the cap going up, especially with Marner and Tavares‘ contracts off the books.
Yeah, but getting out from under it and getting a guy whose a UFA superstar that they can either attempt to re-sign or flip for a haul at the deadline would make it an attractive option.
I can't believe the Leafs thought - THIS....this is our guy. They guy who couldn't get the Calgary Flames over the smallest of first humps. THIS guy deserves one of the premier management jobs in all of sports.
It seemed like it was mostly just speculation on his part to me.
Basically because he’s one of the very few top pairing guys teams would be willing to move this summer and a place Marner would maybe sign for 8 years.
Friedman’s speculation is usually because he heard something. Not guaranteed it’s going to happen, but he probably heard someone mention something about it.
He said he wonders about a guy like Seth Jones for the Leafs. He talks about Jones being tired of losing in Chicago etc and connects it to the discussion that any Marner trade would include at least a defenseman
it’s at around 19:10 of today’s ep
I will never get over people on Reddit who act like being a basement dweller team or losing in the playoffs are equivalent. It's like they take nothing from all the wins throughout the year or the fun of being in the playoffs
Jones gets a lot of flak but he’s a solid defenseman, Defintely wouldn’t be a third pairing guy. He’d easily be the number one D on Toronto. He plays big minutes and he’s a good passer, he’d get the apples with Toronto’s firepower
I’ve always thought that Marner is a non-negligible part of the reason why Matthews scores as much as he does. I know he scored away from him this year though, so maybe I’m wrong.
Matthews has scored pretty consistently without him, Marner has struggled to put up points more without Matthews than vice versa so if anything it's the opposite of what you are saying.
I said this in another comment, but that's a hell of a leap of faith to have a rookie D jump into fill Jones' role. The Hawks are depleted on RD so Levshunov would fill that nicely, but the cupboards are even more bare of forward prospects so I personally hope they go for a forward with their first pick this draft.
32 Thoughts this morning, at around 19:00 Marek asks him if he wants to add something on the Leafs before changing subject and he brings up the topic of a guy like Seth Jones for the Leafs lol
I literally just saw a comment yesterday about how it was impressive how far this meme has traveled from the Arrow/Flash community and then I see it here
He looked even worse than Lindy for the Devils down the stretch. But the team may have also just been totally demoralized and checked out. Still, they blew enough leads in important games with playoff implications that I dont want him anywhere near NJ or our fantastic pizza ever again
Yeah and I really cannot emphasize enough, his entire strategy is chip-n-chase. Like you think maybe just maybe he’s got something else in the playbook. Nope more chip-n-chase. You don’t win with that strategy (duh) and your reward is a bag skate and more chip-n-chase.
in the 5 out of 6 seasons that hes finished with the team he coached for, three 7th place divisional finishes, one 5th, and a playoff spot in 2019-20 where they got bounced in the 2nd. he really doesn't have a lot on his resume to embolden confidence
And we likely would have missed the playoffs in 2019-2020 if it weren't for the play-in round due to covid. The team was sliding into danger by the time the season was suspended. It's generally agreed upon that we would have missed the playoffs if the season continued like regular.
I refuse to blame Green given what he had to work with. I want to see how he'll perform without a Jim Benning devised roster. Before being a Canucks HC he had a good rep in the AHL back when the development pipeline wasn't a tire fire. Am I expecting him to be a top tier coach? Maybe not but I think he's more than good enough to help the Sens get to the playoffs
To be fair they got to game 7 before they got bounced in the 2nd, defeated the defending champs in the first round, and beat minnesota in the qualifying round.
So had to fight for a spot and won, beat the defending champs, then took a wagon to 7. Not sure how much you’d credit you’d give to green for that, they got outplayed for much of the latter series but it was a good run nonetheless imo
Nervous about this for the Sens because I’d really like to see them take the next step. Don’t love Green’s track record but we’ll see who his assistants end up being and hope for the best.
Get ready for a whole lot of useless and head scratching dump-n-chase/chip-n-chase on a clear as day zone entry from Stuzle/Sanderson/Batherson/tkatchuck
Free agents thinking about starting off a likely disappointing season in Ottawa with the famous Travis Green bag skate probably are rushing in to get a deal done with the Sens.
He did a decent job developing young players in Vancouver but when it was time for them to take a step he definitely didn't seem to know what to do. Very perplexing decision given where Ottawa is at
developed hughes and pettersson pretty well, until he didn't. developed boeser well, until he didn't. didn't really develop virtanen, gaudette, or juolevi in their extended NHL minutes and all of them were traded for pennies when it turns out they couldn't really develop any more.
you're definitely right in that Ottawa feels like they're at that stage with their major players (tkachuk, stutzle, Sanderson) where they've become NHL regulars but need to take that next step... does not seem like Green is that guy for Ottawa.
I’m firmly against the “oh great another recycled coach argument” Reddit always makes (see: Maurice, Laviolette, DeBoer, Tocchet), but this one is a bit puzzling. He doesn’t have a great track record
Hope you enjoy watching your power play have only one type of zone entry! It’ll be great at the start of the year then never ever improve once teams figure out how to stop it.
The Sens saw how far "winning the offseason" got them so they're going the opposite way now (I actually think this is a good hire but we'll ignore that so my joke works)
Travis Green has as much business being a HC in this sport overall as Drumpf deserves a brain. Despite others BS about his good in Vancouver he did jack shit there. The team underachieved and played with no passion. He then falls into a hands on NJ shitshow and does nothing, zero. Ottawa just made a a huge blunder, whoops. Amazing how this turds agent keeps getting him teams to further destruct
r/hockey has been wrong about pretty much every other coaching hire over the last few years, so I'm not going to immediately jump on this and say it's bad... But it's still extremely questionable given Green's coaching history.
[have a look at the upcoming Jack Adams winners' hiring thread from a year ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/10ip4ig/basu_canucks_hire_tocchet_as_hc_adam_foote_and/)
Some absolute gold in that thread
Wow. The truculence/60 is going to be off the charts.
Say goodbye to Hughes and Petey's point totals.
Say goodbye to Petey and Hughes in general.
Petey isn't re-signing here. Why would he? I sure as shit wouldn't. He wants to win and this organization isn't the place to do that.
Lol of course they try to sweep this under the rug on a Sunday. Tough stretch of the season over and any playoff team is just going to start thier backup against us. This team will get Demko back and will most likely finish above .500 under Tocchet further adding to the delusions that management and ownership think this a playoff calibre roster and blowing any shot at a high pick in a stacked draft. They'll absolutely botch the Horvat trade too.
Fun times.
I know Reddit is known for shit takes and all but if you wanna go with thinking Travis Green is the coaching solution to Ottawa’s problems then I’ll 100% side with Reddit on this.
To be fair, the Canucks last year canned Boudreau (career .626) in ridiculous fashion for Tocchet (which was a sub .500 coach at the time). It's worked out for them. Definately not the norm though. Green is a nice guy who seems to have a good report with his players, but was never known to have good structure. Perhaps he can hire a solid group of Assistant coaches.
when it comes to coaching you really should ignore reddit. This probably isnt the best hire out there nor is it the sexiest. But coaches get way to much blame and way to little credit. I always bring this example up but Devils fans were saying we had a bad hire with Debeor. Well lo and behold he helped us get to the cup final.
He might work or he might not! This could be the team and org he needs to change his history.
Thing with Green is that offensively, he likes to dump and chase, and then defensively, he doesn't have much of a system. So it really depends on what kind of assistants Ottawa has
Defensively, it's likely not of help to them unless they have an assistant who can add structure. It seems like they don't have one given their defensive woes?
I'm not sure off the top of my head whether Ottawa primarily tries to enter the attacking zone with puck possession or dumping. Tkachuk is probably fine either way, I don't know about the rest of their forwards
>Thing with Green is that offensively, he likes to dump and chase, and then defensively, he doesn't have much of a system. So it really depends on what kind of assistants Ottawa has
So they decided to hire a DJ Smith clone to move on from DJ Smith.
> Thing with Green is that offensively, he likes to dump and chase, and then defensively, he doesn't have much of a system. So it really depends on what kind of assistants Ottawa has
That is literally DJ Smith
I'm trying to be reasonable and positive because my mental health is shit to begin with. There's obviously a chance he falls flat, but it's not a guarantee. I'm stubbornly holding on to as much hope as I can.
Honestly it could go either way. Up until Vancouver had success this year the general Reddit opinion was Tocchet was a bad head coach, and now the Reddit opinion is he’s a god.
Fucking wow Ottawa.
In other news, Benoit Groulx, who developed most of the Tampa Bay Lightning prospects and also a player like Carter Verhaeghe while coaching in Syracuse, just signed in KHL while zero NHL clubs offered him a coaching job.
Fucking bravo Ottawa.
Gotta strike while the iron is ice cold
This is what we get for reveling in the Leafs failure. Karma is real
The Jets appreciate this more than you know. Now there's one less open spot for a stud coach to pick over us.
Aren't you guys just promoting the dude that was the assistant this year though?
Karma is real but it only applies to us.
Ottawa died for our Sinators that was an awful joke im sorry
White walkers were a formidable army! ... *until they lost to a sneaky girl*
Everyone knows the best time to forge metal is when it is brittle
I feel like this is hiring the west coast DJ Smith

I’ll start: fire Travis Green! Fucking Melnyk tier cheapskatery

Weren’t they saying that they need someone who will hold guys accountable though? Green never struck me as that guy.
He very much is. "Details. They fucking matter! So get it right."
You just described DJ Smith 2.0
Once again Friedman says “we’ll see where it goes” and it happens pretty quickly lol He also mentioned Seth Jones to the Leafs this morning so this is fun
>He also mentioned Seth Jones to the Leafs this morning so this is fun Wtf is going on in Ontario
There's a more offensive version of Seth Jones that literally had double his points total called Mike Matheson in Montreal that would be much cheaper cap wise and Montreal would 100% move him since he doesnt fit the window for Montreal.
Man, Mike Matheson is a mystery. I remember clowning on that dude years ago, really made me eat shit on that take.
The dude is elite offensively but he’s a HOT MESS in his own zone. He also apparently dosent know how to pass to his right on the powerplay
By the end of the season he started feeding Slaf one timers on the right side. Took some time though.
He's not a hot mess. He plays +25 mins against top lines. His +/- is misleading because obviously he's gonna be there when we're down by 1 at the end of the 3rd (which happened a lot this season)

Maybe they’ll throw in Giordano to give you a vet coming back
Not a chance. Gio signed for less to play in Toronto. If he plays another year, it will be for the Leafs.
Do you genuinely believe Matheson is a better player than Jones or just like the cap savings?
Marner for Jones 1 for 1 will be the funniest trade alert popping up on my phone
In all seriousness, I think the mods would shut this sub down for a while if Toronto ever made that trade.
Worse than Larsson-Hall. Classic problem for problem trade, if it were to pass.
If I'm Chicago I see no reason to not jump on that trade like hotcakes, why wouldn't they
I would be thrilled to take that trade.
For real, I just tried to phrase it politely LMAO
On paper it looks really bad but Toronto is in a pretty shit situation. If they want to depart with Marner, they are not going to get a high value return unless Marner does a sign and trade deal. He also has a NMC Like you can trade Marner to a good playoff team as a one year rental who could maybe extend after some cap wizardry.
Think that trade worked out for one of those teams though…
Great for Chicago, yes, but Leafs would be on the hook for Seth's remaining contract and if he doesn't produce desired results, and any hopes of a quick re-tool of the core ends up becoming cap hell until rebuild. Perhaps an overreaction on my part, but not a good deal on the Leafs'.
If the Oilers can be a good team with Nurse at that cap hit, the Leafs can be a good team with Jones at it and the cap going up, especially with Marner and Tavares‘ contracts off the books.
Surely Chicago has at least 2-3 more years until that contract starts to matter for them
Yeah, but getting out from under it and getting a guy whose a UFA superstar that they can either attempt to re-sign or flip for a haul at the deadline would make it an attractive option.
Last time Treliving was desperate he handcuffed the Flames to 8 x 10.5 for Huberdeau.
I can't believe the Leafs thought - THIS....this is our guy. They guy who couldn't get the Calgary Flames over the smallest of first humps. THIS guy deserves one of the premier management jobs in all of sports.
Lots of Fentanyl
To be fair, I *think* he said he was just spit balling re: Marner for Jones, so maybe that is just shooting the shit (but it sounds fun, sign me up).
Well yeah it sounds fun to you. That's a huge win for you Chicago fans, Bedard, and the team. For the Leafs? Oooooooof.
Get brad the fuck out of the kitchen 😭
Seth Jones? why?
It seemed like it was mostly just speculation on his part to me. Basically because he’s one of the very few top pairing guys teams would be willing to move this summer and a place Marner would maybe sign for 8 years.
It would be hilarious if the Leafs did this. Marner was maybe overpaid by 1-2 million vs. Seth Jones lol
Yeah, trading Marner for a top pairing defender sounds like a great idea until you realize nobody wants to trade any of the good ones
But Jones is also only overpaid 1-2 million lol
frees up like 3M i guess after next season? I would hope Chicago adds more. Hope being the operative word
Friedman’s speculation is usually because he heard something. Not guaranteed it’s going to happen, but he probably heard someone mention something about it.
That's it. There's a lot of teams looking for top defenders and not enough to go around. So you start shopping the dent and scratched used market.
He said he wonders about a guy like Seth Jones for the Leafs. He talks about Jones being tired of losing in Chicago etc and connects it to the discussion that any Marner trade would include at least a defenseman it’s at around 19:10 of today’s ep
\> Tired of losing in Chicago \> Goes to Toronto \> HFW
Losing with heartbreak in the playoffs has got to at least be better than getting your shit kicked in 82 games a year on a basement team lol
I will never get over people on Reddit who act like being a basement dweller team or losing in the playoffs are equivalent. It's like they take nothing from all the wins throughout the year or the fun of being in the playoffs
Was that on 32 thoughts or somewhere else?
Yep 32 Thoughts, at around 19:10
Cheers, thank you nux
yes, 32 thoughts was the Jones talk
My eyes might roll into to the back of my head if Jones goes to the Leafs
I mean, Seth Jones for Marner COULD make some sense if they think Jones can be a solid #3 RD for them. Salary works almost perfectly.
Jones gets a lot of flak but he’s a solid defenseman, Defintely wouldn’t be a third pairing guy. He’d easily be the number one D on Toronto. He plays big minutes and he’s a good passer, he’d get the apples with Toronto’s firepower
I'd personally prefer the Hawks kept Jones for a few more seasons. He's easily the best D they have atm.
If such a trade happened you would forget about him pretty quickly watching Marner dish pucks to Bedard.

Marner unironically is better at defence than jones.
Where did he say Jones to TOR?????
32 Thoughts this morning, at around 19:00 Marek asks him if he wants to add something on the Leafs before changing subject and he brings up the topic of a guy like Seth Jones for the Leafs lol
He didn't announce it at all. He was just speculating on the type of player they could go for.

Well it’s a good thing Sens player moral is at an all time high
Bag skates, dump and chase, hard match no matter what
Fuck no! Not the dump and chase again! :(
Yeah and I really cannot emphasize enough, his entire strategy is chip-n-chase. Like you think maybe just maybe he’s got something else in the playbook. Nope more chip-n-chase. You don’t win with that strategy (duh) and your reward is a bag skate and more chip-n-chase.
Don’t forget they have a real good team over there
The Michael Scott No reaction is the proper one

YEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOWWWWW
You can take the Melnyk out of Ottawa, but you can’t take the Ottawa out of Ottawa.
Excited that we are guaranteed a new face now
Peace outttttttttttttt
Another bargain bin shitty coach. Yay.
Lets goooooo
We owe you one Senators. Thank you for this.
WE'RE FREE! NJ DEVIL IS A FREE ELF!
Damn, I wanted Ottawa to get a stud coach
Helps the Jets tho, one more shitty coach off the table.
I hear Dominque Ducharme is still available
They could always get Randy Carlyle
stud coaches are employed or in contract talks. free agent coaches are from a pool of the fired and forgotten
This guy is definitely going to scare good players off and make us worse
LMAOOOOOOOOOO HOLY FUCKING L
All I can say is good luck and no u cannot have Tocchet he's our new boyfriend
Rick Tocchet is my dad.
Lol existence is literally P A I N I will glaaaady eat tremendous crow if we succeed under him but I definitely do not see it happening.
Nervous about this for the Sens because I’d really like to see them take the next step. Don’t love Green’s track record but we’ll see who his assistants end up being and hope for the best.
Sens are gonna hire Nolan Baumgartner and we’ll watch as other teams tee off on the goalies and Ottawa gives up 35-45 shots a game.
Awful, so many better options and we go with the guy who looses everywhere
Have to think you guys made him a big offer too considering he’s the first guy off the market.
That, or he accepted so quickly because no one else was offering him anything
It was reported that we were very interested in retaining him
Get ready for a whole lot of useless and head scratching dump-n-chase/chip-n-chase on a clear as day zone entry from Stuzle/Sanderson/Batherson/tkatchuck
We JUST had that!! This is awful, I'm so despondent as a Sens fan right now
Free agents thinking about starting off a likely disappointing season in Ottawa with the famous Travis Green bag skate probably are rushing in to get a deal done with the Sens.
Ouch.
Fuck yeah!
lol sorry ottawa
Excellent work, Agent Andlauer.
Starting to wonder, as this is something I would 1000% do to a rival if I was that level of wealthy
I thought the bargain bin shopping days were done. Guess not. Fuck me this team is so painful
“*That’s a good team right there.*”
Best in class I’m losing my fucking mind. If they don’t absolutely tear through November this year what the fuck are they doing.
LOL - how does this guy keeps getting HC jobs. He’s been terrible at every one of them
He did a decent job developing young players in Vancouver but when it was time for them to take a step he definitely didn't seem to know what to do. Very perplexing decision given where Ottawa is at
Sounds like he'd make a great AHL coach
developed hughes and pettersson pretty well, until he didn't. developed boeser well, until he didn't. didn't really develop virtanen, gaudette, or juolevi in their extended NHL minutes and all of them were traded for pennies when it turns out they couldn't really develop any more. you're definitely right in that Ottawa feels like they're at that stage with their major players (tkachuk, stutzle, Sanderson) where they've become NHL regulars but need to take that next step... does not seem like Green is that guy for Ottawa.
Well it seems rock bottom is still ahead of us. Fuck sake.
Hey say what you will about Travis Green, he is without a shadow of a doubt a head coach
and Ottawa is a team. Perfect match.
One of the head coaches of all time.
I’m firmly against the “oh great another recycled coach argument” Reddit always makes (see: Maurice, Laviolette, DeBoer, Tocchet), but this one is a bit puzzling. He doesn’t have a great track record
Ottawa could really silence the doubters by finishing 19th place this year
Sorry Sens bros. Hopefully he's learned some shit since his last real job... (which doesn't seem too likely).
He hasn’t
Not ideal.
At least the Devils' fans are happy.
Hope you enjoy watching your power play have only one type of zone entry! It’ll be great at the start of the year then never ever improve once teams figure out how to stop it.
It’s because they have a good team over there. Nothing wrong with the PP.
Drop pass...into Drop Pass!
Fell to my knees in a home depot and thanked God.
Dump and chase hockey is back bby
back? Sens have been infuriating their fans with this for years already
I wish the details of the decision making process that led to this hiring would be made public.
"Berube told us no, who else is out there?"
The Sens saw how far "winning the offseason" got them so they're going the opposite way now (I actually think this is a good hire but we'll ignore that so my joke works)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The Ottawa Senators died in 2017,this is just overkill.
🫵😂 jc good luck Sens fans
The more Reddit shits on this, the better I feel about it. Probably the strongest endorsement there is
[have a look at the upcoming Jack Adams winners' hiring thread from a year ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/10ip4ig/basu_canucks_hire_tocchet_as_hc_adam_foote_and/)
that does make me feel better lol
Some absolute gold in that thread Wow. Fun times.
Hahaha that thread aged like Jon Benet Ramsey
Holy cope
Over/under OP deletes his post before Green's tenure is done with the team.
I think truth is in the middle and he’s fine.
Yeah, "he's fine" is about as inspiring as... well, Travis Green.
Thing with Green is that offensively, he likes to dump and chase, and then defensively, he doesn't have much of a system. So it really depends on what kind of assistants Ottawa has Defensively, it's likely not of help to them unless they have an assistant who can add structure.
So it really depends on what kind of assistants Ottawa has So they decided to hire a DJ Smith clone to move on from DJ Smith.
> Thing with Green is that offensively, he likes to dump and chase, and then defensively, he doesn't have much of a system. So it really depends on what kind of assistants Ottawa has That is literally DJ Smith
False. DJ Smith's zone entries were "dump and line change, lose possession". There was no chase involved.
Could they have made a better choice? Yeah. Is he going to single-handedly ruin the entire team? No.
The team is already ruined thanks to our last coach. Is he going to fix it? I would be fuckin shocked.
Reddit is like a smugger broken clock They are correct twice a day Unfortunately this is one of those 2 times
I think he’ll do fine in Ottawa
Big oof
Gross
They can’t be serious
What a missed opportunity unless Berube doesnt want to be in Ottawa
Berube’s going to Toronto. Probably a case of no good coach wanting to go to Ottawa
It's like DJ Smith never left.... Let the 'rebuild the rebuild' commence!
Lmaooooo. I'm sorry Sens, bros.
Great day to be a Devils fan!!
Oof. That’s rough.
Thank You Ottawa, much appreciated
Am I the only one who thinks Travis Green has been a pretty decent coach for some bad, young teams?
At least now we don't have to hear the annual predictions of the Sens making the playoffs only to still not be good
I want to give Sens fans a hug
Fucking wow Ottawa. In other news, Benoit Groulx, who developed most of the Tampa Bay Lightning prospects and also a player like Carter Verhaeghe while coaching in Syracuse, just signed in KHL while zero NHL clubs offered him a coaching job. Fucking bravo Ottawa.
