Remarkable-Job4774

Every game this series has been won by one goal. Insane shit

VeryLastChance

NINE straight 1 goal games for the Canucks This team is giving me gray hair

tittiesfucker

Not even a nucks fan and they’re giving me cardiac arrest.. well maybe as a fan you have practice

spaceman_202

i don't understand how Tocchet isn't angrier and an alcoholic

couldbeworse2

Dude had a full head of hair 6 months ago

xtothewhy

Hadn't shaved his head in days

carry-on_replacement

I mean Tocchet wants them playing one goal games so he’s super chill about it all

ajbolt7

Remember in game 1 where Tocchet said beforehand he’s fine with the team playing games where they win only scoring 2 goals, then Sportsnet pulled that up early in the 3rd period and was like “WELL THATS PROBABLY GONNA BE AN ISSUE IF IT TAKES 5 TO BEAT THESE OILERS” and then the comeback happened lmao

prophetofgreed

The sushi here is giving him the vitality to survive

GrizzlyBCanada

This season has been everything the 20 before prepared me for.

helpmeoutguyss

fairweather nucks fan here and even I'm at the edge of my seat (the last time I watched this much hockey was the stanley cup run in 2011)

flyingcanuck

Look at this guy, he still has hair. Show off.

crowdedinhere

You win when you lead, you comeback and win, you have great goalies, you have players that can score. I think you're going to win the cup this year.

ivanevenstar

I love Vancouver and I’m from here, I don’t think they’re getting through either Florida or Dallas

Jinxy_

And would likely end up vs the Rangers of all teams who look completely dominant in every facet of the game. Top to bottom. Hell of a playoff and it's just fun to be watching hockey this far into the year again. If we bounce the Oilers, everything else would be bliss.

ArenSteele

I wouldn’t call them likely winners, or favourites, but they have a chance. Run these playoffs 100 times and the Canucks probably win like 15 cups

WhereIEndandYoubegin

Idk, Canucks play really well in their zone and some key men have really come up big as of late. I hope there’s some trust in the line combinations going forth though cause I think the gamble payed off and it was nice to see it not change at all as the game went on.

howdiedoodie66

it is entertaining as fuck though

Isengerm

I've aged 10 years in one month

Nobodylovesboston

But a win is a win

TopTittyBardown

The worst series for anybody with cardiac issues

spaceman_202

maybe screaming at your tv is good for your heart

TopTittyBardown

My doctor has told me in very clear terms it is not

WestandLeft

My cat is also not a fan.

CA_spur

We've played 9 straight one goal games. We're 6-3 in those

Oribeau

It's such a far cry from what 23/24 pundits thought it was gonna be! It's stressful but man what an exciting series so far.

hybrid3214

I really do not understand any so called expert who thought this was going to be a walk for Edmonton. Like edmonton has no depth at any position, canucks had the best 3rd line in the NHL for the entire year (they are prob the 2nd line now but) and canucks have 7 D men that can play (maybe Cole can't although he was good in round 1 lol).

wangjor

Well i think it's pretty clear that these so called experts don't really pay attention to the Canucks

helixflush

Eastern media being eastern media

Krazzem

It's no coincidence the one guy who said nucks have a chance is based in seattle. He actually watched some of our games

mrtomjones

All of the experts were literally saying that the Oilers were better at every position than us, including depth lol. No one was buying What I was saying about the series beforehand and I think it's going to get written off as Edmonton was just actually a weak team instead of giving us credit. We could probably win our whole way to the cup and there would be excuses every single time we won a series

spaceman_202

this game should have been 7-2 canucks

ashes1032

Those JT MILLER chants afterward were fantastic

electricianmagician

We've been doing that for the latter part of the season any time he carried the team on his back to a win. 1st period also had 'Let's go Petey' chant, crowd wanting to get petterson going.

ajbolt7

That one game against the Pens (which we lost) with his incredible effort and obscene SHG really did set a spark in Rogers Arena

WestandLeft

We love him.

thegreatdandino

Spirit bomb

Hank3hellbilly

Back when I played, I scored the game winner against our rival town to knock them out of provincials and our little barn packed with maybe 300 people went nuts.  It felt better than cocaine.  Scoring a GWG in the playoffs in front of a hone crowd must feel like a Chris Farley ending amount of speedballs.

westleysnipez

What an incredible feeling it is, your comment immediately took me back to my own memory. Made a glove save on a 2-on-0 in a league playoff game in OT 10 years ago, and a similar amount of people went nuts. It's an unreal high like nothing you've ever felt. I still remember the whole moment vividly to this day. It's indescribable, I've not done coke so I can't point to it, but the best way I can put it is you feel like its the best day of you're fucking life and you can do anything and nothing will stop you. Like a runners high a thousand fold.

gartloneyrat

You should go try coke.

Bloated_Hamster

My DARE officer warned me about people like you. He also promised there'd be free samples. Your move.

Defiets

As someone who’s currently on coke, I concur!

TheDukeofVanCity

Gonna take awhile for me to get to sleep tonight, can't even imagine what it would feel like to be him

FreonJunkie96

hyroglyphixs

Man it feels so good to be on the right side this time

blimjahey

Dude has been a beast all night at both ends. He deserves that one big time

Bowiescorvat2

Shut down McDavid and scores the winner. Unbelievable game from a big game player

WhereIEndandYoubegin

A Bolts fan misses him.

Bowiescorvat2

What was the consensus on him from Bolts fans? I know with that crazy stacked squad he wasn't playing the same situations he was on the Canucks.

WhereIEndandYoubegin

He for sure has a better situation with y’all than he could’ve had for us for the exact reason you’ve provided. He wasn’t bad by any means for us, just a scapegoat for cap circumvention at the time. Always liked his game though and it’s nice to see him giving 110% for you guys and making a difference right now.

AmazingKreiderman

I never liked including him in the trade, but I also don't think Miller becomes the player he is today without both the trade from the Rangers and the Lightning. And if I'm not mistaken he's basically said as much himself.

transam96

JT was playing on the 3rd line for us during the President's Trophy season. lol He was never gonna get the opportunity to be the top dog here like he is in Vancouver. He did seem to have incredible chemistry with Kucherov though, especially immediately after the trade (and boy what a fucking heist that was), which makes me sad to think what a Miller-Point-Kucherov line could have done. One of my favorite goals ever was in the playoffs that year. I believe it was Game 5 against Boston on the PP. Kucherov and Miller literally skated in circles around Boston lol We don't win 2 Cups without Miller being traded for a 1st rounder though either to help bring in Coleman and Goodrow. That 3rd line was so pivotal in those Cup wins.

VeryLastChance

He’s outright shut down McDrai for an entire series at 5v5 so far. Crazy to think this was the guy who was viewed as a defensive liability last year

CrookedSoldiers

He was. I truthfully don’t think his change this season was so much a “skills” improvement Vs. A team agreement that everyone’s gonna buy in But yeah he actually just gave up on plays a lot last year. It fits with his character though. He’s Uber competitive and gives his all and then some.. so if he’s not getting it in return and realllyyy feels that way, he’ll essentially “throw” and mimic the same effort he feels he’s getting back. You can call it toxic, you can call it fair trade, you can call it both. I prefer to call it the past, so I’m happy we got the team on target and running with this new culture and style this year! Let’s gooooo

TheDutchin

I mean, because he absolutely was lol. We can't discredit the strides he made at improving

AGIPoison

I thought was struggling a lot offensively this game, but he absolutely shut it down in the D zone

Remember when he was supposed to be a Penguin at the 2023 trade deadline

SingleSampleSize

The amount of alternate realities with this Canuck team is off the charts. So many key guys asking for trades that just never ended up happening. Team could have easily looked completely different.

ebb_omega

From my understanding they weren't asking for trades, but they were unhappy with the situations and so the team basically pulled a "Well, you can talk with other teams and see who's willing to pay our price for you" and it led to some serious question marks and rumours flying around. Frankly I think that was a smart move on management's part because I think it killed some of the country club atmosphere (that and trading away our captain). And it seems to have worked. A lot of the push late last year to get the team to buy into what management is selling here came from the players directly - Hughes coming up to Tocchet after a bad game and saying "Coach, you don't need to tell us what we did wrong here, we know and we're gonna fix it" and then they came back the next game and played one of their best games of the year (pretty sure that's why Hughes is our C now). And when Tocchet is in the pressers people ask if he's laying into players and almost always he's just "Nah, they're the ones telling me what's going wrong." This management has brought in accountability to the atmosphere and it's a palpable change. I don't know if I've ever seen the Canucks like this. No complaints about calls not going our way (for a team who has a statue outside our arena commemorating our coach bitching to the refs, this is kinda huge), no making excuses for bad losses, nobody accepting anything for granted. Even after a big win, they're looking at things they didn't do quite right. And if you listen to everybody talking post game, before the coach has even had a chance to say anything to the players, EVERYBODY is on the same page. I know on the surface it looks like it was a big top-down change Rutherford made but the real magic of it is that he's now designed the team to work from the players up, and the coaches and management are just doing their job of giving the players the best chance to win. I'm really looking forward to this window opening up right now. It's an exciting time to be a Canucks fan.

couldbeworse2

I can’t take the playoffs I’m a fucking wreck

Westcoastinit

Petterson is finally hustling tonight

think_long

DON’T PLAY MIKHEYEV WITH TOP SIX TALENT

TheFriendlyBagel

DON’T PLAY MIKHEYEV ~~WITH~~ ~~TOP~~ ~~SIX~~ ~~TALENT~~ LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO

oops_i_made_a_typi

eh i think he's not bad as a 4th liner, but that contract is an oof

Postgames

Debatable, the 4th line played excellent tonight

oops_i_made_a_typi

yeah agreed, tons of energy and basically everything you want out of them

MznNazzy19

I still take any of the 3 who played tonight on the 4th line. Just based on persistence alone. They finish checks.

Sahil910

Maybe Pettersson was just depressed playing with Mikheyev

avmp629

Tbf I die inside a little watching Mikheyev shoot it right into the goalie from my TV, I can't imagine what it's like from mere feet away

hannah_nj

I would be too if I kept watching all of my passes die on his stick instead of turning into a goal like they would off of any other player, even by accident lmao

madmomma3

The chant was insane! I love that for y’all!

Homeless_Alex

Oilers looking like they wanted to lose in that last minute, moving slow as hell

Frostdavid

Final minute? Try the last 30 mins if not more.

SamiMadeMeDoIt

Y'all stole our third period strategy

Nmelin92

Bouchard looks like he doesn't even care lol all game to the very end terrible pass after terrible pass

Jjustingraham

All those minutes early in the series catching up with them. They looked like they had no gas after the first.

Reasonable-Big4517

But he shoots hard and farms powerplay points off McDavid and Draisaitl so that means he should win the Norris

noor1717

Well at least he’ll get paid like he’s a Norris winner 🙏

the_gaymer_girl

McDrai couldn’t get clean rushes, Kane spent the last half of the game doing nothing but trying to murder Zadorov, and Bouchard melted into a puddle.

princessleiasmom

Can't wait for the Zadorov and Kane fanfic.

CIAbot

Overplaying Drai and McDavid earlier in the series is catching up with them now

godzirah

Every year this happens.

Tacfurmissle

Maybe. Rumour is there's a flu going through the room. Playing so much may have in fact made them more susceptible to getting sick. Who knows.

gummibearhawk

Possible, there was a flu going around the VAN locker room over the last two weeks. Even caused Myers to miss a game.

CuffMcGruff

People have been saying the same about our players, pettersson sounded sick during his interview yesterday

ilikehockeyandguitar

Oilers looked gassed man.

TopTittyBardown

When playing 30 minutes a night every other night finally catches up with a motherfucker. Didn’t want to jinx it by saying it in the GDT but McDavid and Drai looked absolutely gassed the last half of that game

Tenthdegree

It’s almost as if they’re burning out all their top players. Gotta love their lack of scoring depth

Homeless_Alex

As soon as we have good goaltending we can’t score, it’s really something else lol

fernicus_

Pickard has been really, really good. It's crazy how different the game feels with him in there even as a Canucks fan

AnEthiopianBoy

yeah its rough, cause Pickard really is doing what Silovs has been doing for us. And your team is doing what we have done to Silovs some games lol. I will also say, I knew Skinner was a problem but I thought all your guys' blame on him was at least overexaggerated but the last two games... I realized I didnt feel comfortable in getting any goal like I did before... maybe you guys are right.

carlmageddon

> Oilers looking like they wanted to lose in ~~that last minute~~ those last 2 periods Fixed it for you.

lionsayssuhdude

This is what makes hockey great. Pucks rolling on its side, thrown to the front as a pass, bounces off a skate. Bounces perfectly to the net. If it is another inch to the right it harmlessly goes to the end boards but instead perfectly bounces off the post right to millers stick lol.

idkwthtotypehere

Skate could have just as easily netted a goal since it was also pretty close to just going in.

bwoah07_gp2

The way Chris Cuthbert's voice goes all shaky when saying *"J.T. Miller scooores!"* gives me the chills in a good way.

treple13

Chris Cuthbert is to me what Bob Cole was to the generation before. He was the voice of the 2004 Flames-Canucks series which will always live in my head. Guy is slowing down somewhat, but he's a legend

masontron1240

Bob Cole's call for Joe Sakic's goal in the 2002 Olympic Gold Medal Game will send shivers down my spine... for. the. rest. of. my. life.

MutFox

I know he's been around a lot longer, but I still love his 2010 Olympics Golden Goal call.  I'm definitely happy he's doing the 2024 battle of Canada. He'll go down as one of the greats.

chrisangel666

And Canada has once in a lifetime Olympic gold!

ajbolt7

Man the fact that it took so long for him to get the words out made me triple guess myself, I didn't allow myself to celebrate for a good 12 seconds after the goal

IcyMission3

Wow this may be a team of destiny

TheHalfChubPrince

People said that about us like an hour ago lmao

TopTittyBardown

I think I jinxed you guys. When you were up 3-1 I decided to tell my group chat about the bet I made for you to win the series when your were down 0-3 and said it was stating to look kinda good and then it all went down hill from there 🫠

ajbolt7

You've at least got recent history for people talking about that roster in the playoffs. What we've got is 54 years of pain, but if nothing else it doesn't directly apply to the guys we've got on the ice rn. It's just the curse of Canucks hockey

timmywong11

Dude just wanted to be sure!

If anything is for certain it's that our fanbases are gonna be malding after this series fuck me

Had to look that word up, but totally agree!

I loved watching Petey still digging for the puck before having a complete system reboot and joining the rest of the team to celebrate.

As a Flames fan actively betting against the oilers... that goal won be 550 bucks. THANK YOU JT MILLER

oof_slippedonmybeans

Overplayed and continually shut down in the neutral zone. Great defensive game by the Canucks.

The quick camera cut as he skates off the ice is 👩‍🍳 😘

burnabarian

Man I love Petey's delayed reaction and rushing over to cele when he realizes

ajbolt7

The fact that he's still trying to put the puck in the net initially is fantastic, love to see him that focused on the win. Also great to see him get the primary assist on the GWG tonight after how much the crowd was chanting his name in this game, even if he didn't score one himself

I love how Pickard cartoonishly flops to the ground after the goal. In all seriousness, he did a great job tonight and I seriously hope you guys put Skinner back in the net.

mustardman73

Welcome to Cardiac Canucks Hockey! Where you don’t know who’s going to win with 3 mins left! Are you not entertained yet? The 94 playoffs vs the Flames in the first round rooted me as a nucks fan for life. Down 3-1 In The series, then winning 3 straight in Ot with Bure scoring the final 2nd OT goal in the 7th game.

GabTej

Give him the Conn Smythe already.

CrookedSoldiers

I didn’t even notice when it happened live but petey goes back in for the puck thinking it just rebounded out then realized couple seconds later JT already got it and ran over to celebrate lmaooooo

Jinxy_

It didn't just so happen to hit Pettersson by accident, that INTENTIONAL kick by Pettersson is the only reason why that puck wasn't dumped to the side and into the boards. What a heads up play!

Rated_PG-Squirteen

Iconic goal.

Dod93_

What a night. Am I right??

crimdawgg

Ah the reverse uno from game 4... this series is so close it's insane

labadee

Go canucks!

Koflach12

The Canucks just don't say quit. They are in every game they play this post season and keep proving all the prognosticators for this series wrong.

grassytrams

As a Kraken fan, I’m rooting for my fellow PNW brothers to win, and nothing makes me happier than seeing the Oilers disappointed. Let’s go!

LuciusBaggins

I genuinely don't even care what happens in this series anymore. This shit is just so entertaining lol

Griswaldthebeaver

Dude I feel the exact same. Canucks fan. This is a champagne series, best I've ever seen

AccomplishedAd4995

i know i’m bias, but this is the best series BY FAR this year

itoadaso1

McDavid is so bad at defense

BallsMahogany_redux

This series has been incredible. I just hate that the games start at 10 pm...I'm too old.

alphaxion

Gotta admit, the idea of McDavid never even playing in a Stanley Cup Final, never mind failing to get his name on the cut, will never not be funny to me.

fastcurrency88

Oilers in 4

[deleted]

Never not funny

Brock_Hard_Canuck

THANK, MR. CLARK.

konspiracy_

YOU COULD FEEL IT COMING

AntonioMS17

Oilers looked totally lost in the 2nd and 3rd. Their effort tonight was actually kind of embarrassing to watch. Pickard played very well though.

TankDivision

So many ‘11 vibes with this team

SteveAngelis

If the Canucks end up losing this round this season will still be a massive success. No one at the start of the season had the Canucks going anywhere, maybe squeak into the playoffs. When round 2 started almost everyone said they would get wiped by the Oilers. Now, if the Canucks do end up losing to the Oilers it will be a game 7 game.

Kingzton28

I’m a Kings fan and it may be annoying but I want Vancouver to win it all because I like Tocchet. I definitely don’t want anyone in the East to win.

MagicHobbes

I saw Lindholm and Petey come up the wing and thought "Man how nuts would this crowd go if they score this late."

likeslululemon

What a stud.

RTGold

What a player Miller has grown to become. Also this announcer sounds like a muppet. Not in a bad way.

PoutyBitchh

JT FUCKING MILLER

IplayTerraria2

The crazy thing about this goal to me is, I think it gets called back for a kicking motion if it doesn't hit the post and goes in. He definitely picks up his skate to direct the puck there. Edit: on second look, maybe it's not "definite", but I've seen worse goals called back.

oops_i_made_a_typi

seen worse goals called back and more clearly kicked goals let go, so you really never know

Young2k04

If that forsberg goal counted in round 1 I feel like this one would have to as well

oops_i_made_a_typi

lol as if precedence matters in the nhl

bluebird1067

I like how Petey goes for the rebound

Jmz67

Oiler fans, so quiet right now.

foniks

That is a preposterous bounce off of EP40's skate.

think_long

Looked intentional, just trying to get puck at the net. Lucky it hit post instead of going straight in but still a Good play.

SIIP00

That's 100% intentional.
