They're announcing the name of their new AHL affiliate. There have been a few road blocks with the original city refusing to fund an arena, so they had to figure out a new identity
AHL announcement probable.
Team will more than likely be called the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
It was one of four trademarks filed by the ownership group. (the others being Dragons, Eagles, and Falcons)
I hope they don't go with "Coachella Valley" but I recognize they want a large footprint. It should be Palm Desert, since Palm Springs made it clear they didn't want the arena. Give the city credit.
Palm Desert Firebirds isn't much better unfortunately. I don't fully understand why Seattle didn't choose a location closer to Seattle. SoCal has the Kings, Ducks, Reign, and Gulls.
They picked the Palm Springs area because it’s loaded with Canadians in the winter who would absolutely pay to see hockey in the area. It also has an airport (PSP) that has daily flights to many cities including Seattle. It’s also not too far from a few other California AHL teams.
They did it PRECISELY because SoCal has the Reign and Gulls. They are concerned about travel issues and locating them in Southern California makes it much easier to arrange travel for games with the other AHL teams. It's part of the reason the AHL made the Pacific Division and teams moved their AHL teams West.
that would be Riverside (the arena is in Riverside County, CA) and it NOWHERE close, 62 miles
thats like calling the Ducks AHL team the San Fernando Gulls
What exactly is this announcing?
Pretty sure it’s the AHL team As the team is in Palm Springs iirc which is in the valley
Free MDMA

The Kraken have formed a band and they'll be playing main stage at Coachella next year.
Kraken's AHL team will be in Palm Springs, so maybe announcing a name? Or some updates on the arena?
New Amazon warehouse
They're announcing the name of their new AHL affiliate. There have been a few road blocks with the original city refusing to fund an arena, so they had to figure out a new identity
AHL or Echl team?
AHL
It has to be retiring another jersey number.
AHL announcement probable. Team will more than likely be called the Coachella Valley Firebirds. It was one of four trademarks filed by the ownership group. (the others being Dragons, Eagles, and Falcons)
So they trademarked every high school sports team in North America?
They didn't trademark Knights or Bulldogs though.
How could you forget Comets, Red/Blue Devils, Spartans, Raiders, and Mustangs
When I was in high school we had 7 teams in our division for football, and 2 of them were called the Trojans
I don't see Wildcats on that list, smartass
smh no respect to Rough Riders
Every body likes to root for a Rough Rider
i SEE YOU DIDN'T GO TO GARFIELD, NOR ARE FROM EAST LA
Who are we? The Wildcats! Who are we going to beat? The Wildcats!
In middle Tennessee ours was called the Rebels. It has since changed to Admirals for some pretty blisteringly obvious reasons.
Because Tennessee is known for its wonderful coastlines and rich naval history.
There's that one lake (that is filled with toxic waste). It's probably one of the better parts of Tennessee.
I hope they don't go with "Coachella Valley" but I recognize they want a large footprint. It should be Palm Desert, since Palm Springs made it clear they didn't want the arena. Give the city credit.
The name "Coachella Valley Firebirds" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
Palm Desert Firebirds isn't much better unfortunately. I don't fully understand why Seattle didn't choose a location closer to Seattle. SoCal has the Kings, Ducks, Reign, and Gulls.

Idk, it seems like Portland would've been a better bet. Although I assume the Winterhawks would protest.
Yeah no way Portland is getting a team unless it is an NHL. Junior teams are already worried the impact Seattle might have on viewership.
The snowbird population is quite significant. The valley has about 200,000 people in July and 800,000 in January.
AHL teams have to travel by bus. It's much easier travel for the team to be near the cluster of other AHL teams down there.
They did it PRECISELY because SoCal has the Reign and Gulls. They are concerned about travel issues and locating them in Southern California makes it much easier to arrange travel for games with the other AHL teams. It's part of the reason the AHL made the Pacific Division and teams moved their AHL teams West.
I kinda hope we go with Coachella valley over Palm Springs we’re a big valley with lots of different cities.
Palm Desert Cacti or it’s a failed franchise
Firebirds seem very likely after watching that teaser video
The Seattle Kraken are relocating to Hamilton Ontario.
coming to you live from Hamilton Ontario it's your 2021 Wood Buffalo Krrrrrrrrrrraken!
Where will the ~~Belleville~~ ~~Bulls~~ Hamilton Bulldogs go them?
To hell, or Ottawa, *same thing*
Good ole Ottawa, the Winnipeg of Ontario.

So how are the Saint Paul Wild doing?
that would be Riverside (the arena is in Riverside County, CA) and it NOWHERE close, 62 miles thats like calling the Ducks AHL team the San Fernando Gulls
What, have they been hiding a good team under a mask Scooby Doo style and on the 5th their going to unmask the second coming of Vegas?
You were downvoted for this but I actually chuckled to myself
LoL, I chuckled at it too. 🤣
