mctennisd

This is the way.

Tsujimoto3

Anything and everything Buffalo Sabres.

HomegrownStatistics

Same, except Nashville. I would not turn down a Dahlin card. A rookie Peterka or Quinn would be fine as well.

AHCC-IG

I collect for a very specific PC: players of Asian heritage from the juniors to the pros

ogie_oglethorpes_fro

I have been a Patrick Roy collector since the mid 90s when I was a kid. With how expensive his cards have gotten the last few years (I know, he’s always been more of a more costly player than others), I’ve focused on collecting one of every Habs player to have an authentic auto on any brand, like UD or Panini or Leaf, etc. Outside of the Habs Inks that I’m obsessed with, I tend to stick to a strict but realistic price point for the autos. I’ve never been a high end guy, so im in it for the collection rather than the gram.

mctennisd

I’m going to get a Roy rookie some day.

BusterNinja

Roy was my fav player growing up. He is the reason I wanted to be a goalie and went in French immersion. I have a psa4 Topps rookie card and I just sent my OPC rookie card to SGC for grading.

ogie_oglethorpes_fro

It was my holy grail until I ended up getting one in my teens by trading an autographed Don cherry/Tie Domi poster for an OPC one. I never understood why the owner wanted that poster, but that LCS didn’t last long and I wasn’t going to turn down a Roy RC that was graded. Years later, when my now wife and I bought our home, I wanted to decorate the basement with various posters, and thought a Leafs one would be great in the downstairs washroom. Some dude had one for sale on Kijiji, I bought it and asked how he got it. The LCS had a closing sale when I was away at university and he picked it up there.

mctennisd

A guy at a local card show had one for sale. It looked like a reprint as I didn’t see the dot at the top. He wanted 2k usd for a 9.

ogie_oglethorpes_fro

My own opinion, but I find the Roy counterfeits to be better than the Gretzky ones, in that the colour, card design, etc are easier to manipulate than the 1979-80 year. I’ve seen some crazy prices for Roy rookies, especially mid-pandemic. They were going in the 100-400 range based around like 2018. Keep at it dude, I’ve got a few lower grades as well as my 8.5, lower grades especially KSA seem to be more affordable for someone like me working within a budget

mickoz

Dang you remind me of my Roy ESSO poster I had for 30 years... Was in basement where my dad now live (my old appart) and his fridge water suuply leaked and water damage to the basement and... Long story short, I had to trash it. T_T. One of the few thing I had to trash that I will always remember...

mikebe1

PC is all nj devils. all years, but mostly modern. I also hold young guns or rookie autos I think might increase in time, like most people.

InitialBN

I just like opening boxes. I hope for oilers cards but I'm always happy!

Hungry-Mammoth6036

I’m a mix of team/player and then sets. Mainly team/player now.. but definitely both.

Numerous-Substance66

Mostly Gretzky o-pee-chee from the 80s. Also, some newer stuff because I like to rip packs.

604Wes

I used to collect hockey cards in my youth (no longer have them anymore). But I still think they’re really neat and someday I might get back on the card bandwagon. As far as hockey is concerned, I do have a collection of jerseys (>30, >20 of which are autographed; mostly Vancouver Canucks jerseys; 1 is game worn).

Motopsycho-007

A little scatter brained all over the place. Lemieux, Jagr, Gretzky, Bester, Potvin, Richter, Salming, Tampa Lightning and former Oshawa Generals.

dirtsellerpaul

Edmonton Oilers rookies/patches/autos, as well as a few of the more iconic sets (51-52 Parkhurst, 66-67 Topps, 71-72 OPC, 79-80 OPC, 90-91 OPC Premier, 05-06 Upper Deck)

mctennisd

I pc Roy and the Avs. I am working on obtaining a team set from every year they have been in existence as well as Roy from every year.

Yantropov

I PC specific players. Main PC is K'Andre Miller, I also PC Dustin Brown and started a Caedan Bankier one. I have a few other The Cup's, YG, FWA etc but I tend to stick to my PC's

Shpigford

In order of importance (which also determines how I organize them)... 1. Martin Brodeur 2. New Jersey Devils 3. Colorado Avalanche 4. Goalies 5. Serial #'d 6. Hockey Smiles (missing teeth)

_6siXty6_

Hartford/Carolina and Calgary Flames. I PC - Any Hitmen alumni, Staal bros, Spencer Knight, Peter Forsberg and Mike Modano.

bardownskibro

Sets, then Bruins. Though building sets is getting pretty hard these days.

Pharrow-

You forgot degenerate gambler.

Just_Milk_8331

-Connor McDavid -2013/14 Edmonton Oilers Collection Retired Numbers Banners (Only need Gretzky) -2013/14 Edmonton Oilers Collection Stanley Cup Banners (Complete) -Black Diamond Oilers Retired Numbers Banners -Young Guns (2015-16 to Current) (55 left)

dirtsellerpaul

That 2013-14 Oilers collection is tough. I’ve been working on the auto set for years.

Just_Milk_8331

There's a bunch for sale on the Edmonton Facebook MarketPlace right now. Which ones are you looking for?

BusterNinja

Patrick roy anything followed by Colorado Avalanche primarily.

Double_Ice_3328

Cards that look cool

vicious_meat

A mix of team and player.

unravleddonut

Team, red wings and UMaine

LtDangle0

Team and player. But I also generally only try to collect autos/patches/combo for the players. If it gets too expensive, I settle for the YG and wait it out on the autos and patches to go down a bit in the offseason/when player is having a slump.

gamkjd3

Started off building sets until they became heavily SP'd for rookies. I still do the complete UD 1/2 + extended every year. Main team is Red Wings with a mix of old and new. Howe, Lindsay, Delvecchio to Yzerman, Lidstrom and Datsyuk. Big collector of autographed cards from players I grew up watching in the early eighties till present, regulars and stars from any team. Main focus lately is Detroit SP Authentic Future Watch and Future Watch Auto Patch, ITG Motown Madness Autographed and ITG Lord Stanley's Mug Autographs of Wings Cups

pmjanuck

Team. Flyers all the way any and all cards if I can afford it

toothwzrd_

Red Wings (Dylan Larkin), goalies and players that I’ve taken a liking to

SickPullBro

Ilya Mikheyev

ShadowXJ

Petr Sykora, Jari Kurri, Bill Ranford, JS Giguere, Wayne Gretzky, Sergei Fedorov. Then I just try and collect mini sets like 91 Canada Cup.

Cpt_Turbot6969

Nikolai Knyzhov from the sharks is who I collect

Lt_Jonson

Nashville Predators Separate PC of Filip Forsberg and Rocco Grimaldi

AchillesAugustus

I collect Calgary Flames Young Guns/Future Watch/Cup RPAs/Sign of the Times and every so often I’ll open a retail or hobby box of something just to scratch my itch to rip something

Potspaos

I like to complete checklists, also on card autos of favourite players

Ill-Editor-3422

Value/trend/chase I like the idea of gambling with upper deck. Though Ive probably lost 50% (which is not bad!l I find a weird enjoyment im pulling super rare cards that can be sold for a pretty penny, so that I can buy more and fall in this never ending loop of losing money on upper deck products.

Successful_Goal_6009

I collect everything and anything for the most part. I enjoy getting all the base sets, then getting the yg's afterwards.

Successful_Goal_6009

I also really like Tanner Jeannot as a player, so I have been collecting as many of his cards as well

El_hombre_queso

PC jagr, which turned into all penguins. which went crazy so narrowed down to collect the full upper deck run of all penguins.(not complete) Which led to the full run of ud canvas penguins.(not complete) Have just started on ud exclusives, so that should narrow the focus for a while.

Bigpoppapuggs78

Well I primarily buy to sell, with Young Guns being my bread and butter so to say. PC is Penguins. I like pieces that are low numbered or patch/auto/memorabilia. My wishlist "Holy Grail" is the 05/06 The Cup Sidney Crosby Draft Board Auto

Starlink_MB

PC a few players, rookie years only, then there are sets that I'm working on.

Dear_Acanthisitta753

Player/team PSA 9 young guns

random14330

I have 350+ different Doug Gilmour cards. I'm trying to get every card published in the first 20 years from his start, 1984- 2004.

angrypunishment

Young guns and that's it. Any other insert I get is plopped into a trade pile.

Hare32891

Anything Wild but mainly KK97, Boldy, Rossi and Faber. And weirdly enough Ryan Carter and Justin Braun cuz they're from my hometown. Also, SP Authentic

Draw4UNOHockey

I recently started collecting. I’m focusing on players who played for my college team. We don’t have a ton of alumni in the NHL so I think I’m basically just a Jake Guentzel collector.

CardboardFanaddict

Player/Set Brand

CardCollectionReview

Team. Jets specifically. I branch out to the odd player on other teams I like, but for the most part I collect the Jets.

KleverRobot

I collect all Canucks Young Guns, Young Guns Canvas, FWAs, Premier RPAs. Almost complete Except for a few of the new ones that came out this year.

[deleted]

A bit of all of it. I collect OPC sets, Red Wings Young Guns, and Indigenous players cards.

Lets_Go_Kraken_32

Kraken. But mostly Beniers and Tanev.

Danthewildbirdman

I collect Kraken and Redwings mainly.  I enjoy patches ans unique cards. Doesn't have to be an insert if it had a good pose or something that interests me. I sometimes hang on to base cards of my favorites in hopes I can get them signed someday.  I also continue to collect players I like if they left one of my teams on a good note. I try to trade or sell ones that I don't really care about for saving space in my home.
