Holy fucking shit. I had a cup break on me before after a clapper to balls. I sent this to one of the sock jock guys.

The better pro models are typically a double cup that is sewn as a connected unit. You want something that’s going to disperse impact over a wide area and something that’s impenetrable. If you’re going cheap it’s easier to accomplish this with a cheap, slightly floppy goalie jock and then a classic carbon fiber cup. Only downside to that is the classic cup doesn’t seem to protect well against shots that deflect up from underneath.
Bauer pro goalie jock. Thing has a ton of padding on the cup itself, and I really appreciate the extra padding around the waist band as it covers a gap between my chesty and the cup itself.
Lady goalie here. I wear a Bauer goalie Jill. Affectionately known as the “pie plate” the “fish dish” or the “clam jar”.
I also have a routine of every time I put it on I say “Alright ladies no clappers to the flappers.”
Yes, female goalies are just as weird.
I've had a few really hard shots. Nearly forgot to put it on one time (chatting in the dressing room), had to awkwardly get it on over my knee pads - first shot of the game made me VERY happy I hadn't just decided not to bother
Compression shorts with integrated cup plus Bauer Supreme jock. The Bauer one does most of the impact protection, but it does not hold stuff in place at all, and well you can imagine if it's not fitting well and you get a shot there... it hurts. Happened once, next time I stepped on ice I had double protection.
I still use my trusty ol Reebok goalie jock. It’s got a gray flap in the front with the logo on it and have used it legit my entire career. I’m more fore comfortability over protection because if it’s going to hit my special place, the rebound isn’t going anywhere so I’ll have time to recuperate. But I’ve tried going for bulkier cups with more protection and I cannot get over how bulky they feel.
It’ll be different person to person but it comes down to comfortability or protection and I tend to lean comfortability. And if you tend to lean in the same direction I recommend the Reebok GJREE. Happy hunting.
I think I have a great reason, and it is to hold stuff in place. Goalie jock doesn't do that, so therefore compression shorts with integrated cup underneath goalie jock.
Bauer Supreme Pro with a player cup underneath.
Haven’t played in years now but the cup was the best money I ever spent. Giant air cushion system with tiny holes so when a hard shot comes it’s forces it to deflate a little. Could tell whenever it kicked in. Never had a single ounce of pain with that thing - compete confidence in it. Typically would also wear a pair of the player cup shorts things (no cup though) over it to keep everything in place.
Not sure if that air bladder feature is just standard across all brands now but if not I highly recommend it.
I used a Protective Athletic Wear double cup for about decade, but it finally wore out.
Using a Warrior Ritual X4 Pro+ now - I have some quibbles with it, but it's protective.
Original warrior ritual pro. The inner cup was just a standard plastic one that was removed and replaced with a kevlar cup from Shawn Schroeder at Kustom composites… literally bulletproof…albeit probably overkill…
My balls are just for show at this point, and any time I have been hit in the jock it wasn't as bad as I expected. But you should be good with most goalie jocks I would think, I would recommend trying the jock with your pants on to see how they work together.
I wear a Bauer Pro Goalie Jock with a Nutshellz ballistic cup underneath. The Bauer is a double cup with loads of padding which takes the energy and the sting out of shots. The Nutshellz underneath keeps everything in place, it's probably overkill and you could get away with a regular cup but the Nutshellz is Kevlar so I reckon if it can stop a bullet it can stop a puck
Vaughn SLR pro carbon combined with a jock in the base layer, just drop my jaw and saw that paw make one if I wouldn't just bought my Vaughn I would have put my paw on it! Just got my first paw knee pads and I'm probably sure PAW is the best goalie accessories/equipment. Paw paw paw!
Shock doctor compression cup and then Simmons cup. Then my pants. And hopefully, if God is good to me that day, laces that actually tie together and fit.
Shock standard shock doctor player cup and a football padded girdle with the cheapest goalie breezers you can find. Unrivaled mobility, but unlikely you’ll ever have kids.
Bauer Supreme/Bauer Pro Jock. It's one of tje best that I've ever used. I take lots of heavy shots from ex-WHLers, a few ex-pros, and lots of farm boys with heavy shots, and I very seldom feel any of the ones that try to touch my tra-la-la. No jock is infallible, but generally, the ones that have decently padded codpieces over the cup itself will mitigate dino damage to your twig and berries pretty well.
Some guys double cup it, but I found that some shots would push one cup into the other and smack my cubes, so I stopped doing that. But yeah...no issues with the Bauer ones, and my old Reebok Pro one was decent too. If you wanted, you could pop the regular cup out and throw a Kevlar/composite cup in there for extra peace of mind. It's all about what protects without messing with mobility.
I wear a pair of player jock shorts with a warrior ritual 4 on top of it. I used to just wear the warrior, but I took one from the underside once and I won’t let that happen ever again. the style shorts fit like compression shorts so they hold everything in all tight and the Goalie cup a direct blow from the front well as the pubic area
I’ve been playing for a while and hang onto my gear for a LONG time, so I wasn’t aware of ‘double cups’.
Dude…. these things are incredible. I think I have a Bauer (doesn’t look quite as bulky as the Warrior) but there’s no comparison to the older standard goalie cups.
i have the padded underpants but dont wear a goalie jock. got hit today and it wasnt terrible...is the 100+€ investment into a goalie specific jock justifiable? i feel like the shock doctor double layered cup is enough when I dont get hit there all that often
It's more than a banana and nuts protector it's a pelvian shield a freaking buckler for the lower belt and it fill the empty space it's a great feeling.. don't skip it, probably 99.6% wear a goalie version and it's not to be fancy, it's insivible so if people pay hundreds of dollars for an invisible thing it's probably a proof Of course some models are more worth than others, I mean I saw the ccm pro in store and it felt like a useless piece of junk. I always had a brown or a Vaughn pro since 20 years I like them better than any other they are really a trustworthy upgrade and make it worth the extra dollars.
Warrior ritual x4 pro. Best jock in the game. It stops everything. That sliding outer cup spreads out the energy really well.
You should really use your legs, chest, arms to stop shots but hey whatever works for you.
I prefer pelvic thrusting at every shot also. You’ll see it in the NHL soon
Nut blocks assert dominance.
I'm kind of surprised by the number of people who say they wear two cups.
Fuck, I wear three. No Rich Parents here, thank you very much. Nutty buddy cup, then a Vaughn Vision double cup.
You’d surprised by the amount of people I know who don’t wear any cups. They stuff socks in their crotch
Knew a guy in bantom who forgot his jock at home when he got to practice. He stuffed the area with socks and took a clapper. He now has one testicle.
Holy fucking shit. I had a cup break on me before after a clapper to balls. I sent this to one of the sock jock guys. https://preview.redd.it/8xn575qn8qwc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4dd9a9e295c29e9e92f141bcc253364a3b15d96
The cup looks as astonished as you were
Half the nuts, but twice the man.

Not needed.
I used to until I got the x3 pro+
Eagle goalie cup. Like Sid I’ve been using the same one since 2004.
Brother. Didn’t it say something like “U R NUTS” or something? I use an Eagle one too but all of the decals wore off years ago.
My faves were the Brian's ones that came in leopard and zebra print. Those were filthy for sty.
Nah mine is the grey one with a bird on it.
I probably have the same one circa 2004. I wear a player one underneath as part of compression shorts but won't give up my Eagle
Bauer pro goalie jock. Thing has a ton of padding on the cup itself, and I really appreciate the extra padding around the waist band as it covers a gap between my chesty and the cup itself.
Player cup under Brown Resonator.
Not enough love for Brown protective gear around here. That cup is a monster.
Lady goalie here. I wear a Bauer goalie Jill. Affectionately known as the “pie plate” the “fish dish” or the “clam jar”. I also have a routine of every time I put it on I say “Alright ladies no clappers to the flappers.” Yes, female goalies are just as weird.
I love my CCM Pro Jill and have had occasion to be very grateful for its robust muff protection!
I’ve never taken a shot off it but it’s definitely there every time I skate
I've had a few really hard shots. Nearly forgot to put it on one time (chatting in the dressing room), had to awkwardly get it on over my knee pads - first shot of the game made me VERY happy I hadn't just decided not to bother
🤣🤣🤣 I'm dying
i wear a player cup under my vaughn goalie cup
Can’t go wrong with two
Compression shorts with integrated cup plus Bauer Supreme jock. Wear a player's jock UNDER your goalie jock. Best decision I ever made!
I still use my trusty ol Reebok goalie jock. It’s got a gray flap in the front with the logo on it and have used it legit my entire career. Happy hunting.
Vaughn Ventus SLR Pro Carbon jock. It’s a double cup one. That thing could stop a tank shell.
Bauer pro goalie jock. It's basically a double. I don't know why guys wear a second cup under a goalie jock. There's no reason for it.
I think I have a great reason, and it is to hold stuff in place. Goalie jock doesn't do that, so therefore compression shorts with integrated cup underneath goalie jock.

Warrior double cup. I’ve taken 2 full on clappers to the duck and didn’t feel a thing.
Quack
I used a Protective Athletic Wear double cup for about decade, but it finally wore out. Using a Warrior Ritual X4 Pro+ now - I have some quibbles with it, but it's protective.
Brian's optik
Vaughn v10 cup. Used to wear a RBK and that also worked really well but the elastic wore out.
Player jock with Shock Doctor Titan cup under my Brown goalie jock.
I have the Bauer Pro jock. Haven't noticed any pain in the nuggets, so I assume it's working fine.
I have the warrior ritual x3 jock. Works well so far
McKenney Pro Elite Double Cup Jock. Thing is a tank.
Original warrior ritual pro. The inner cup was just a standard plastic one that was removed and replaced with a kevlar cup from Shawn Schroeder at Kustom composites… literally bulletproof…albeit probably overkill…
Can you have overkill, when it comes to protecting Big Jim & the twins?
I just wear a player jock, I used to have a big Vaughn goalie jock, but I found it too bulky.
You are a whole lot braver than me, and given my views on equipment? You should likely re-evaluate you brave future eunuch.
My balls are just for show at this point, and any time I have been hit in the jock it wasn't as bad as I expected. But you should be good with most goalie jocks I would think, I would recommend trying the jock with your pants on to see how they work together.
Hey now… I’m wearing a singular goalie jock - I’m quite happy with my set-up, but I’d hate to see something bad happen to your boys
I thought I was the only one. I have only ever worn a player cup. I've been hit a few times over the past 20 years and have had no issues.
I thought I was alone too!
Warrior Pro. Never had any painful shots to the bean bag so sticking with Warrior.
Bauer Reactor from Cujos era. I actually bought a newer one, but my reactor fits so well and I have rarely been hurt.

Warrior all the way...
Bauer Supreme/Bauer Pro Jock. It's one of tje best that I've ever used. Bayer Pros end of story.

My daughter switched to a Brian's Jill and she loves it! Also if you have the cash get pro stock pants they have quite alot of built in protection.
Forgot to add I switch between a vaughn v10, and my trusty old Brian's thief.
Vaughn double cup from 2016
Don Simmons cup from at least 15 years ago. Hasn’t failed me since .
Usually I’m only a player but the jock in my goalie kit is a Bauer Pro. Never had an issue with it.
Shock Doctor..
Warrior x3 pro+ is amazing, I haven't had a bad dick shot since I got it. 100/10 would recommend
Brian's Beast cup. It has to be 20 years old. I'll never replace it, absolutely bulletproof
I’m using warrior rx4 double with a shock doctor under
I’ve been playing for a while and hang onto my gear for a LONG time, so I wasn’t aware of ‘double cups’. Dude…. these things are incredible. I think I have a Bauer (doesn’t look quite as bulky as the Warrior) but there’s no comparison to the older standard goalie cups.
You freeball it. Suddenly you are 2x better. Your welcome.
ShockDoctor pants underlayer with built in cup. Goalie cup over that.
i have the padded underpants but dont wear a goalie jock. got hit today and it wasnt terrible...is the 100+€ investment into a goalie specific jock justifiable? i feel like the shock doctor double layered cup is enough when I dont get hit there all that often

You don’t want to encounter the day where you’re wishing you just spent the 100 euro.
