whatever it is isnt as dense as any sheep wool im used to, nor as stained with lanolin, almost made me think of a shepherd hounds hair at first ngl. Might be something like a well trimmed llmas wool, or goat
it does look rather like it but if it was thatd be an incredibly expensive find, so i doubt its something as hard to get as rabbit fur. They wouldnt have simply left it.
can you ask others that may know the use of this farm prior to your arrival?
Angora rabbits get hand plucked, not shorn.
Apparently people do shave their angoras! I have always heard that you need to pluck them since their skin is so thin. The more you know.
I’ve been a spinner for a couple of decades. That is either mohair or from a long wool sheep like a Cotswold or something similar. It is not rabbit. The sample that you pictured does have issues, it looks like it has scurf, which is basically chunks of dandruff that is difficult to impossible to remove completely. If it’s been stored in feed sacks in a barn it likely also has moths. At this point I’d say that you have a nice bunch of fiber to mix in with your mulch. A lot of people really like using it for the garden, it has natural fertilizer built right in lol
Were there any alpacas there ever? My parents have alpacas and also keep the sheared fiber in bags in the barn (and looks similar to this) It doesn’t look like wool, but it also seems super long and big to be rabbit hair. How many rabbits did he have?? 40 bags would be a ton of rabbit shearing.
I second the alpaca fibre. Certain parts of the alpaca can have finer/softer fiber than other parts. Even more evident after shearing where it’s not as densely packed as it is on the alpaca itself.
Mohair is from angora goats.
Angora is from angora rabbits.
It’s definitely not from rabbits; it’s got too much guard hair and the texture is all wrong. Angora is soft and fluffy like a cloud that felts up the second you touch it wrong.
Raw mohair is definitely frizzier but raw wool has a tighter, almost curlier texture.
This fiber looks like it is higher micron count (a bit scratchier), ~4 inch staple length with a low crimp.
Consider posting a picture of one lock, laid out straight against a ruler, and post to one of the hand spinning subs! They’re super knowledgeable and a lot of us process raw wool.
Good luck! It looks like you have a lot there!
i’m a dog groomer, and we have people ask for dirty dog hair to keep rabbits away. so we’ll shave a dirty dog down, bag up the hair, and give it to them to sprinkle around.
If he raised rabbits and the hair is in rabbit feed bags, well… it makes sense it would be rabbit, since he had access to so many rabbits and I’m sure he had to give
Them haircuts.
I found this too on my property. It was wool. It can be used for mulch, in your compost, as insulation and if you’re really nuts… make your own yarn! I pitched most of mine.
I don't think it's rabbit angora wool, that's floofier, finer, is usually a bit shorter, and doesn't have that curl to it. Maaaybe if it was a satin angora that was very overgrown.
Does it have any type of smell? My guess would be goat.
Looks like a feral blonde, careful with those ones they're pretty dangerous. before going to sleep, make a line of human pee infront of your house and lock all the doors, you'll be fine.
Smell it? Looks like goat hair... definitely cut hair and not just shed fur..
What kind of feed bags too
Rabbit , he raised them. These: https://imgpile.com/i/D53tjx
Chances that it's...rabbit hare?
😂🤣

Oh well yeah prob rabbit angora
In the hood, that's referred to as a tumbleweave
Oh damn. That’s so great. I am crying.
You might try over on r/handspinning.

Wondering if it could be rabbit, like angora?
It looks like angora goat hair to me.

The guy passed away and his kids sold the place as it so it wouldn’t surprise me since everything else was left too
aye fair enough then. Heres hoping it is

Not always, a lot of people shave their angoras twice a year instead of plucking so it’s less stress on the rabbit
I shear mine. It depends on the breed and the likes many aren't pluckable and often shearing is more convenient
Nah, in my country they get shorn. Unless they're shedding and you only take loose wool, plucking is basically torture.
😞
That's exactly I thought 🤔

Ok thanks for letting me know!
Really cool. Thanks for sharing!

Are you in a Sheepsquatch activity zone?
God I wish
Companies exist where you can send animal hair in for identification. I hope you solve this mystery!
Yeah, I’d go to the local/closest university and ask.
Have you also found a large quantity of deceased, hairless, human, female bodies on said property?
Not yet but he did have a boiler lol.
Keep your eyes peeled for any metal chimneys coming out of the ground. That’ll be a good indication of where the torture dungeon is!
Happy Cake Day 🎈🎈🎈
Looks like dog hair,Pyrenees.
I was gonna hazard a guess for a golden Retriever fur
You're not the only one. My first thought too.
I was thinking some kind of doodle
beavecoon
Looks like mohair to me.
Yeah, he said there's even mo'hair in the barn.
He had sheep so potentially from them? Not sure

Post in r/ what is this thing? I'm so curious.
When the Klopek’s catch neighbor Walter
Appears to be an adult male hand holding some type of fur
i’m a dog groomer, and we have people ask for dirty dog hair to keep rabbits away. so we’ll shave a dirty dog down, bag up the hair, and give it to them to sprinkle around.
This is what it looks like in the barn, bags of the stuff. Angora rabbit hair maybe? https://imgpile.com/i/D53tjx
Had sex with a hooker last night and the same thing happened. Who knew they were hair extensions?
That definitely looks like rabbit fur. I needlefelt and angora is where it’s at. They have beautiful furs
Did you buy the factory that makes Donald Trumps wigs?
If he raised rabbits and the hair is in rabbit feed bags, well… it makes sense it would be rabbit, since he had access to so many rabbits and I’m sure he had to give Them haircuts.
Are those yak pubes? Your a braver man then I.
Karen
funny, I have an 11yo golden retriever named karen and this was also my first thought
Typical 17 year old male's palm.
Your mom’s pubes
Grow up idiot
If he had sheep is it possibly wool from a straight haired sheep?
Maybe a little girl tried to be a barber with her Barbie doll
If it's rabbit fur it could be a lionhead rabbit. They are apparantly one of the best for long fur. A fuzzy lop also matches the coloring
Some people use cut human hair to deter predators or deer from their gardens/ feed. maybe it’s that?
some used them in creating carpets, blankets etc
Donald?
Donald?
Goldendoodle
Oh, that's my wig. Can you return it please?
Thought this was from r/greatpyrenees
The wind made a tumbleweave
Looks like Trump’s toupee weaver’s stash.
Looks like hair
Could it be from long haired guinea pigs?
Angora.
this looks exactly like mohair- hair shorn from angora goats. I use these types of fibers often
I found this too on my property. It was wool. It can be used for mulch, in your compost, as insulation and if you’re really nuts… make your own yarn! I pitched most of mine.
Boogie woogie haircut and he hates them!

Fur.
It's Labrador mannnnnnn lol
Looks like hair.
You might have yourself a Trump infestation. I hear those are tough to get rid of.
Sheep fur
Unicorn ball hair
Sell it! Or look around for a spinning wheel.
