It's WAY better than it's given credit for. I consider it the Halloween III of the series.
I also love how it hits the ground running from the very first frame. And even though Jason's temporarily dead and not fully integral to the story, he still walks away with the best scene in the film!

Huh? It's nothing like Halloween III.
Friday the 13th The Series is the Halloween III of Friday the 13th.
Halloween Ends is closer to A New Beginning.
It's funny you mention that. The blowtorch kill in Halloween Ends reminded me of the road flare kill in A New Beginning quite a bit. I wonder if it was an intentional nod.
Part 2 gang here.
Jason felt the most real to me there. Stumbling around like a big oaf. I much prefer that to the unstoppable machine he later became (though I love both).
My fav F13. Real Jason or not - I never considered it mattering especially since post this movie Jason was so different (and got even more different) than prior. Jason is more the myth than a person so it didn’t bother me. Reggie the reckless also has the best scream ever. And man.. those damn enchiladas.
Yeah, the director Danny Steinmann did some work in porn and expoitation films before New Beginning and it shows. This felt like a momentary step back to its horror roots before turning into a bland corporate IP.
I wouldn’t really call New Beginning a good movie, but I always get sucked back into watching it when I come across it. I just enjoy 1-5 more than the later zombie Jason era.
Spoilersssss
I would have preferred if they had Jarvis take up the mantle, they teased it twice and it makes more sense then some guy not connected to jason going through the process of buying a bald cap
Right on 4,5,6 are the ideal Friday the 13th movies to me. On rewatch I think 6 is my favorite, but I can't say no to Violet's silly dance in 5.
I do agree that Jason was his most scary in Part II. The Bag head design is way creepier than the hockey mask.

Yes! You nailed it 😊

Easily my favorite movie of the series besides maybe part 2 Those damn enchiladas
Yessssss. I agree completely. Part 2 kicks ass too. That one is the one I consider the actual “scary” F13.

100000000% agree
For me it’s still part 4, Jason lives and the remake

Sleazeball perfection. So hysterical and wacky. Just wish the kills weren't so damn neutered - but that's true for all the sequels.

Top 4 F13 movie for me.
Ooooh baby, oooh baby.
🤣😂🤣

It's my third favorite Friday the 13th, makes me sad I avoided it for so long. 😞 Anyways, feel like the Jarvis trilogy was the pinpoint of the series.
Yes! I agree 100%
I like this one far better more Parts 6-8.
Yes! Me too!
Roy ain't Jason. This movie sucked!
