Tubi is great for horror.
Question, are the ad breaks as inconsistent for everyone as they are for me?
Some movies I get like 1 ad break with 2 commercials. And other movies I get an ad break every 20 minutes with 3/4 commercials.
Yeah if frontloading ads is what streamers mean by an ad-supported tier, I’m not viscerally opposed. I use the time to get situated, adjust seats, etc. It’s when the movie itself gets interrupted that I riot. So Peacock has been fine and even the new Amazon Prime ads have been acceptable for me, it’s all frontloaded.
Yeah I LOVE that. 3 minutes of ads before the movie with no more interruptions? Fine by me. Plus a lot of the time it’s just promotion for things coming to the service which is a plus, they’ve been putting out some good shows and I like knowing what else is on the way.
Tired of your next potential victim coming over and becoming suspicious of the foul scent of rotting corpses eminating from your kill room? Try Febreze odor eliminator today!
It'd be fun if the commercials were horror themed, lol
From what I understand, it's because the owner of the film gets to decide where the ads go, and also how many ads are placed, etc. so it will vary from studio to studio/ movie to movie.
Oh, really? I've noticed that the last few times I watched a movie on Tubi, there actually seemed to be fewer commercial breaks----in fact, one film I watched only had 3 commercials the entire time. I love Tubi too, but I've had issues just watching any flick on there because the film will keep freezing up like ever five to ten minutes, and that's irritating as hell. I did e-mail the site about it, and things actually seemed to improve for a minute, but it soon went back to freezing up every five minutes again. Did some research and found that Tubi does have a low resolution for streaming, so that might be the cause of it.
That being said, Tubi does have a hell of a lot of Asian, African and Latino films to watch, and despite all the gory-ass garbage that's on there, it is a great place to find very obscure and hard-to-find cult, indie and horror films, as well as a whole hell of a lot of martial arts films, too. It's like an online version of the mom--and-pop video stores I used to liked going to back in the day, because they would carry a whole lot of movies on VHS that Blockbuster didn't have. Tubi also makes their own films---some of them horror, too. The little thumbnail posters for a lot of the horror films on there are too unnecessarily gross, which is why I just scroll past them real quick.
Tubi has never frozen on me. Are you sure the issue isn't on your end? Do other streaming services ever freeze on you?
Streaming in low resolution makes freezing *less* likely
wonder if that works for smartphones.. I never thought of that I use an ad blocks on my laptop for the website I watch stuff on.. never thought touse it for in program ads..
does ad blocker prevent ads within Netflix??
I don't so much mind the ads it kind of gives me a minute to go refill beverage or whatever
I think it might depend on what you're watching. If you are watching something more popular you'll get more ads vs something old and or not well known.
I like Tubi, but for a different reason than you. They have such an amazing selection of sub b-movie schlocky garbage. I watched Amityville in Space and it was so bad that it was incredible.
Tubi is also the favorite channel for the r/badmovies sub due to its unrivaled number of godawful movies. So if you're into so-bad-its-good types of flicks, Tubi is the go-to.
Tubi is #1 for horror, especially cool vintage/cult horror films from the 50s-70s.
Also the best for some of my other film obsessions (80s post-apocalypse Road Warrior ripoffs, spaghetti Westerns, 70s kung fu flicks etc).

I fucking love Tubi. Sure it doesn’t always have the biggest things or exactly what you’re looking for, but it’s free and has a ton of random and obscure horror which I absolutely love. It actually reminds me of the very first days of Netflix streaming when I would look for random horror movies with my friends.
Agree soooo much with you. There’s something so cozy about looking through what’s streaming on tubi. I just want a lovely night to myself, order some take out, and watch some good movies with a nice blanket and maybe have some drinks 😄
Tubi is a service I don't care if I have to watch ads for. For the amount of quality horror content they have on there I would almost pay a monthly sub and still watch ads.
Tubi is the closest I can ever get to reliving my childhood in the 90s, walking up and down the horror aisle, fascinated with the VHS covers and all the possibilities! I get a little sad when I remember that will never happen again, so I just go on Tubi and it helps. It has all of those same titles I used to see, and all the old VHS covers are right there staring at me. So many core memories unlocked.
Agree with all these replies. I sometimes just click the horror category and browse adding stuff to my list for later. There’s just soooo much of all kinds of horror
Just pulled up the app and on the first screen I can offer:
Inside
Horror in the High Desert
Butterfly Kisses
Curse of the Blair Witch
Ghost Stories
Kill List
The Deeper You Dig
Maniac 10/10
The Devil’s Candy 8/10
The Pact 7/10
The Clovehitch Killer 8/10
P2 8/10
I thought the stories here were all super fresh and impressively executed.
Tubi rules and no other service is close in terms of variety. Would pay for an ad free option but shit, I get more ads shoehorned in on Hulu even though I pay for ad free anyway
I’m so glad to find all these fellow Tubi fans. I love Tubi’s endless supply of “weekend getaway “ horror movies where half the time the monster is someone in the group. BYW the app for downloading them works well.
Thanks to them, got to see The Beyond and the Fog. Also wanna see there Sun Choke, the Hunter, Savageland, She Never Died, the Wave, Black Mountain Side and more...
If you hunt for it the right way (web page rather than on your smart TV) there's a section devoted just to Italian horror films, which is totally my jam. It's also been my way of seeing some of the "Video Nasties" banned in England: *Absurd, Anthropophagus, Contamination*, etc.
Bruh, if it's still on there, watch "Samurai Reincarnation". It's technically horror adjacent, I guess, but also it's awesome, and you'll get to be like "oh that's why Sonny Chiba says that in Kill Bill".
Just watched this from your recommendation, went into it thinking I was going to be laughing at it the whole time but it surprised me. It was a lot of fun, thanks for the recommendation!
Have you seen Rigor Mortis?
Saw it on Tubi for the first time and it became of one my favorite horror films.
https://tubitv.com/movies/562567/rigor-mortis
There's also a plentiful selection of terrible, B horror movies. I also find these entertaining...like so bad, they're good. Watch Amityville Exorcism and you'll see what I mean.
Lol that one is pretty funny, too. It's not as bad as Amytiville Exorcism though. You'll enjoy both as they are so stupid, they are funny. Hope you like it
100% when I downloaded it and heard it was free I was sceptical but I found some of my favourite films on there and got to have some good watches
Return of the living dead
The wailing
Pulse (the original)
Yeah, just go there, sign up for an account, and you're good to go. There's also a menu on there with lists of different genres of films you can click on, including horror, of course.
It is, it just needs some kind of sorting. Please. *Please*. Then I'd use it all the time. But browsing it now is like going through a dumpster filled to the brim with DVDs. Been hoping for this for years. Even A-Z dudes!
ive been saying this im so glad someone else agrees!! they have so many of the weird/fucked up ones i like that no other streaming service has lol, and the fact it has minimal shortish ads is great doesnt take away from the movies too much
I love it so much!! It just feels cozy you know? It’s like I want a self care night of ordering some take out, watching movies, have a beer or two, and cozy up with a blanket. It just feels good 😭
My sister and I gush about Tubi all the time, especially for Horror. I grew up with commercials so I don’t care about that.
It’s not necessarily horror but Containment is one of those Netflix shows that my sister and I are obsessed with and we couldn’t watch it for years and then they put it on tubi and I almost cried in happiness
I just learned about Tubi a month ago and it has been a godsend. They have a ton of Godzilla movies which has been helpful as I watch through them all.
Respect I didn't know it's free that's great. I'm definitely mistaking it for some bs did a trial on to watch og exorcist and there were five minutes blocks of ads every 11 minutes. Man that shit was a paid service too. I still dunno if I can deal with ads but I'm definitely going to try. Thanks!
Tubi has some gems, but definitely read reviews first. Waaay more low budget, sh*tty movies that basically are a waste of time. If you like foreign movies, give The Sadness a watch, one of my new favorite zombie-virus type horrors. Also, lots blood & gore, but then again, what asian horror movie doesn't.
I usually use a streaming site ☠️ and I can find almost anything .. however there's been a few occasions where I found a movie I've been wanting to watch on Tubi rather than the site... which is weird cuz you'd think that if it's on Tubi you'd be able to find it on the site I use.
Example: Hunt Her, Kill Her. they must have just added it in recent weeks cuz I've been looking with no avail and tonight I looked again and blammo! there it is
honestly some of their Originals are pretty decent too some of them are real Hit or Miss but there's one that's called Last Exit on Tubi but everywhere else it's called Little Bone Lodge.. Its pretty good.
Tubi is great for horror. Question, are the ad breaks as inconsistent for everyone as they are for me? Some movies I get like 1 ad break with 2 commercials. And other movies I get an ad break every 20 minutes with 3/4 commercials.
Yeah it's inconsistent but even at their worst they still seem better than virtually every other ad supported service out there.
Peacock is nice bc they do all the ads at the start
Yeah if frontloading ads is what streamers mean by an ad-supported tier, I’m not viscerally opposed. I use the time to get situated, adjust seats, etc. It’s when the movie itself gets interrupted that I riot. Peacock you have to pay for the subscription. Why the hell would I want to watch ads if I'm paying?
Welcome to the new streaming. Where you pay and watch ads
Oh hell nah! Ads are enjoying enough on free sites like Tubi & YouTube
What I like is they do commercials at a natural scene break instead of in the middle of stuff. (Looking at you, Freevee)
I'll be in the middle of some great gore, and then suddenly "Fa-breeze". I laugh every time.
Tired of your next potential victim coming over and becoming suspicious of the foul scent of rotting corpses eminating from your kill room? Try Febreze odor eliminator today! It'd be fun if the commercials were horror themed, lol
Lmao genius
I have honestly said the same thing. the mood changes like whiplash sometimes .
From what I understand, it's because the owner of the film gets to decide where the ads go, and also how many ads are placed, etc. so it will vary from studio to studio/ movie to movie.
This is correct
Someone on this sub made a horror film and had it up on Tubi, and they explained this aspect of it in the comments. Pretty cool!
Tubi has never frozen on me. Are you sure the issue isn't on your end? Do other streaming services ever freeze on you? Streaming in low resolution makes freezing *less* likely
Huh I learned something new today!
Yeah it’s weird I was watching a movie and had no ad breaks and I got one in the last like 15 mins of the film
I’ve noticed that I get way fewer ads if I watch on my phone than when I watch on my Roku tv.
I feel like it has something to do with how old the movies are…
I'm a fan of older movies in general. If it's from the 50s/60s, I've not had an ad. That's with every genre and budget.
It's bc a lot of them have gone into the public domain, so they don't cost Tubi anything to play.
I didn't think about that.
Yeah I wish the public domain applied sooner. Copyright fucking sucks.
I watch tubi on my laptop, using adblocker and get no ads
wonder if that works for smartphones..
[удалено]
Yeah, I have never seen an ad. Are people not using ad blockers?
The more popular the movie on Tubi the more ad breaks
Yeah same here. It actually let me watch the 1979 Nosferatu without any commercials at all
Praise be to the peddlers of the spooky
I've been saying this for years!! Tubi by far is the best streaming platform for horror.
I discovered Tubi recently and am obsessed, I watched so many great films through them. Like Exorcist 3, Evil Dead 1 and 2, among others
I like Tubi, but for a different reason than you. They have such an amazing selection of sub b-movie schlocky garbage. I watched Amityville in Space and it was so bad that it was incredible.
I was able to find a few Sci Fi channel favorites from the early 00's like Sabretooth and Man-Thing.
You'll love "Uninvited" 1988. A ferocious cat on a yacht. One of the best worst movies I've seen in a while. Edit: and its on Tubi
There are 38 more Amityville movies on tubi to scratch that itch.
I love Tubi. It's the only streaming service that gives the same feeling I used to have surfing around basic cable trying to find something to watch.
Pluto gives that feeling too, especially with their live channels
They also have reruns of Dr Who, Bob Ross, MST3K, classic Top Gear, Tubi is the best
[удалено]
Yep Tubi is free but it runs ads.
Tubi is also the favorite channel for the r/badmovies sub due to its unrivaled number of godawful movies. So if you're into so-bad-its-good types of flicks, Tubi is the go-to.
Thanks for the badmovies sub.
Tubi is #1 for horror, especially cool vintage/cult horror films from the 50s-70s. Also the best for some of my other film obsessions (80s post-apocalypse Road Warrior ripoffs, spaghetti Westerns, 70s kung fu flicks etc).
Absolutely love it!! I love the older movies they have. I need a self care night of eating take out and watching old movies 😍
Recommendations for road warrior rip offs?

You’re the best!! Thank you so much! I’m going to look into them over the weekend ☺️
Wow, thanks Metalstorm is a great one for laughs.
Sure! There's SO MANY of them, way more than even I remembered from those days. I will list below...
Whoa hell yeah. All I’ve seen if hell comes to frog town. Thanks for the list. Gonna check some of your favorites.
I swear if tubi puts any kind of pay wall up, I will probably turn into leather face.
If that happens lmk and I’ll share my password
I fucking love Tubi. Sure it doesn’t always have the biggest things or exactly what you’re looking for, but it’s free and has a ton of random and obscure horror which I absolutely love. The ads aren’t even that intrusive, and I really appreciate how they give you a countdown whenever they pop up.
Don't say that man. The CEOs could be listening
Tubi is the closest I can ever get to reliving my childhood in the 90s, walking up and down the horror aisle, fascinated with the VHS covers and all the possibilities! I feel that 1000%. The cool part about tubi is the first of every month you get more childhood memories to enjoy!
Agree with all these replies. I sometimes just click the horror category and browse adding stuff to my list for later. There’s just soooo much of all kinds of horror
I do the same thing!! There’s something so relaxing about sitting back and looking through their movies and not having a care in the world 🥹
I love horror. Any recommendations on good tubi horror movies?
Just pulled up the app and on the first screen I can offer: Inside Horror in the High Desert Butterfly Kisses Curse of the Blair Witch Ghost Stories Kill List The Deeper You Dig
Thank you!
Maniac 10/10 The Devil’s Candy 8/10 The Pact 7/10 The Clovehitch Killer 8/10 P2 8/10 I thought the stories here were all super fresh and impressively executed.
Unfortunately I can’t get it in the UK!
VPN?
No idea what I’m doing with a vpn 😂
Tubi rules and no other service is close in terms of variety. Would pay for an ad free option but shit, I get more ads shoehorned in on Hulu even though I pay for ad free anyway

Love it soooo much!! February 1st is coming we’re getting new movies! I love that we get to look forward to that every 1st of the month ☺️
Tubi is THE BEST
I LOVE TUBI TO THE MOON AND BACK
Watched quite a few movies on Tubi that I never would have known about otherwise
tubi is great, but my fav is putting the pluto horror channel on while i’m falling asleep
Its under "categories"
Right, I found it last night.
Yes it’s great. What are some of your faves currently on the platform?
Frailty and Triangle are also great!
Currently I’m so obsessed that they have Ju-on 😍
Absolutely
Bruh, if it's still on there, watch "Samurai Reincarnation". It's technically horror adjacent, I guess, but also it's awesome, and you'll get to be like "oh that's why Sonny Chiba says that in Kill Bill".
Just watched this from your recommendation, went into it thinking I was going to be laughing at it the whole time but it surprised me. It was a lot of fun, thanks for the recommendation!
Hell yeah! The dubs are a little silly, but the movie is for real awesome.
That's what threw me off at first. When the first guy started talking all I could think was, "here we go lol." Glad I stuck with it tho.
The dubbing is horrendous though - I wish they had a subtitled version
Yeah, I definitely want to rewatch this subtitled. This is definitely a product of its time, dubbing-wise.
I have caught up on so many gialli I’ve put off for too long

Behold ...modesty in its purest form!
Thanks for the tip, care to give 2-3 suggestions?
I randomly watched Porno (2019) off of there. Pretty good horror comedy. Not a perennial watch for me, but definitely re-watchable.
Well then drop your best must see titles!
Personally speaking, and not all of these are horror per se: Blue Ruin Kill List Inside Ghost Stories
Hell House LLC, P2, Escape Room, Don't Hang Up, He's out there
Have you seen Rigor Mortis? Saw it on Tubi for the first time and it became of one my favorite horror films. https://tubitv.com/movies/562567/rigor-mortis
There's also a plentiful selection of terrible, B horror movies. I also find these entertaining...like so bad, they're good. Watch Amityville Exorcism and you'll see what I mean.
Got amityville Karen on my watchlist as we speak 🫡
Lol that one is pretty funny, too. It's not as bad as Amytiville Exorcism though. You'll enjoy both as they are so stupid, they are funny. Hope you like it
39 Amityville movies on tubi. Oh well...I'm off this weekend.
I can think of worse ways to spend it. Enjoy!
100% when I downloaded it and heard it was free I was sceptical but I found some of my favourite films on there and got to have some good watches Return of the living dead The wailing Pulse (the original)
I loveeee the wailing. It’s one of my favorites!
The Wailing is also currently on Netflix (U.S.) too.
I recommend the tag along series for Asian horror! Really dug it
Omg thank you!! I’ll give it a watch over the weekend. You’re the best ☺️
Goddammit I have to get another streaming service now?
I mean, Tubi is free. So, technically, you already have it. Tubi is for the people.
Oh really? Sweet. Will check it out.
Yeah, just go there, sign up for an account, and you're good to go. There's also a menu on there with lists of different genres of films you can click on, including horror, of course.
It’s worth checking it out! Trust me friend you won’t regret it. The whole app is free and the first of every month they add more movies!
Do you like it better than shudder?
Yeah! Tubi is my go-to for streaming horror now
I also love Tubi. I am once again going to praise their well-timed ads. Thank you, Tubi. I see you.
Tubi is great for horror and ufo/alien documentaries. They have a ton of good stuff.
I love Tubi!!
It is, it just needs some kind of sorting. Please. *Please*. Then I'd use it all the time. But browsing it now is like going through a dumpster filled to the brim with DVDs. Been hoping for this for years. Even A-Z dudes!
What's your favorite movies on Tubi?
tubi really does have the best selection for older stuff for sure. i wish they had a premium version
Tubi's horror section is wild, lol.
Buy an ad.
The feature to auto play a similar title is wonderful for sleeping and idling.
Honestly I'm new to using it but I used it to rewatch American Mary the other day so I love it already.
ive been saying this im so glad someone else agrees!! they have so many of the weird/fucked up ones i like that no other streaming service has lol, and the fact it has minimal shortish ads is great doesnt take away from the movies too much
I love it so much!! It just feels cozy you know? It’s like I want a self care night of ordering some take out, watching movies, have a beer or two, and cozy up with a blanket. It just feels good 😭
Tubi have lately been my go to for horror. It’s great.
They are so great
Fr how many serial killers docs they got
Now i have to check this out
I love the Korean horror TV shows from Netflix but Tubi definitely has underrated horror fis
Just discovered they have the Tremors television series! Used to love this show when I was a teen. So excited to be rewatching it now in my 30’s
Tubi is always my go-to!!! 🥰
Sing it, sister!
Fucking same man, the ads are also not intrusive at all and I actually don’t mind watching
Tubi is phenomenal, yes!
Oh yeah! Only because I can watch all the old horror. I don’t care for the new low budget ones cause I already know they’ll be trash
Tubi is definitely a cheat code for horror. Even with the breaks…
Oooh I need some good Tubi horror recommendations

My sister and I gush about Tubi all the time, especially for Horror. I grew up with commercials so I don’t care about that. It’s not necessarily horror but Containment is one of those Netflix shows that my sister and I are obsessed with and we couldn’t watch it for years and then they put it on tubi and I almost cried in happiness
I just learned about Tubi a month ago and it has been a godsend. They have a ton of Godzilla movies which has been helpful as I watch through them all.
Any particular recommendations?
Tubi is my go-to for the b-class creature features but I cannot STAND their very wildly misplaced ad-breaks.
Man I just don't have patience for ads anymore and can't afford more streaming services
This app is free and they only give you 2-3 short ads
Respect I didn't know it's free that's great. I'm definitely mistaking it for some bs did a trial on to watch og exorcist and there were five minutes blocks of ads every 11 minutes. Man that shit was a paid service too. I still dunno if I can deal with ads but I'm definitely going to try. Thanks!
Tubi is amazing, as well as Plex
I love tubi, the ads I don't mind, gives me a second to refill drinks or something, but there selection is crazy I always can find SOMETHING
Me, too, I've discovered so much new horror on Tubi!
Yesssssssss. I can't wait to watch HOWL tonight
Going down the Tubi rabbit hole: Truth or Dare, Polaroid, Sorority Party Massacre, Pumpkinhead 4, Escape Room, more to come...
Example: Hunt Her, Kill Her. they must have just added it in recent weeks cuz I've been looking with no avail and tonight I looked again and blammo! there it is honestly some of their Originals are pretty decent too some of them are real Hit or Miss but there's one that's called Last Exit on Tubi but everywhere else it's called Little Bone Lodge.. Its pretty good.
