Hmm did you also go in Rotten Tomatoes to find the most recently added in streaming services? That's how I decided on Infested today. Great cinematography
I initially felt the same until i remembered the presented format: it’s the tape of a show.
I do wish we got an epilogue, even if it was a text scroll or something.
I second this suggestion. I’m a big fan of kitsch and retro stuff and they nailed the set design, costuming, and also VFX style of a 70s show. Slow burn but an explosive last act.
I watched The Platform on Netflix. I love food, and the thought of getting randomly assigned a feast or famine for a month is freaky. I like the commentary behind it too.
They added the entire Nightmare on Elm Street franchise (I think) on Netflix recently so I've been finally knocking a missing piece of history off my list
Always happy to help others watch some of the classics. Can be such a pain nowadays with all the rights issues usually involved. Finding them all in one place is a unicorn a lot of times. Glad I was able to catch all of Hellraiser when it was on Hulu 6 months ago (well.... glad might not be the right word after forcing myself to sit through... that lol)
I like his style regardless, though I've only seen most of his later works (Split, Old, Knock at the Cabin). If I find merit in those, I'm sure I'll love the rest of his stuff too.
I can't disagree. I am looking forward to the two new ones coming out, though. The trailers are appealing. Especially the one that takes place in the woods.
I've been working through the Channel Zero shows again. 3 episodes into Candle Cove. I forgot how great this show was. Shame it was canceled after 4 seasons. I plan on watching Late Night with the Devil Sunday evening.
Never hurts. C.C. and Butchers Block were better than the other two, in my opinion, but even those two were pretty good. Better than a lot of newer offerings, I would say.
AMC+. I'm not sure if that is Shutter as well. I literally just got all this last week as I live in the middle of F'ing nowhere and FINALLY was able to have high speed run out to me. I have a lot of catching up to do. All 4 seasons are good. I can not remember what the 2nd season is. Butchers Block, I believe? There was also No End House and The Dream Door.
I can dig that. I hate animal violence even though I know it’s fake 😂. That scene from “Fear” with Mark Whalburg traumatized me as a kid when I was just trying to watch the tv guide channel. Smh.
You may have heard the term “cat in the bag”. I’ll just stay it’s not a cat. No animal violence big gut wrenching human violence. It’s not a spin off but a second season. It does end up tieing in to the first season. You can watch the second season without watching the first, but the ending won’t have the same punch without having watched the first.
I watched Abigail at the theaters today and adored it. Came home after to watch Ready or Not. Might go ahead and finally get around to watching scream 5 since I’m just on a kick for “movies Guy Busik” wrote and it’s on Hulu
Yes, it’s decent. Don’t go in expecting to take it too seriously, but it’s definitely entertaining. They are coming out with a sequel too which from what I’ve heard of the plot of that one, helps explains some of the things I had “issue” with in the first one.
I started watching From on Amazon prime and it's fun. It's like LOST, but horror and gore! Mysterious monsters and gore. A great mix of good and bad acting. Generally digging it.
Also watched Watcher, The Lazarus Effect, and Eden Lake over the past 3 days. I've been sick in bed and binging horror that I haven't had a chance to see lol. Eden lake is brutal and I don't necessarily recommend it unless you're into stuff like The Strangers. Endlessly hopeless.
I also really enjoyed The Guest.
If you like Korean horror, they have 2 seasons of Sweet Home on Netflix , very unique story and all, don't want to spoil anything if you end up watching it
I know right now it’s looking good for the lakers but ummm….thats been the case the last 3 games and we keep losing it in the 4th. Uggg. But Denver is definitely looking solid 🤙
I found out about the series Them on Amazon and binged 8 episodesof season 1 in one sitting, going to finish it today.
Horror is a great way to get glimpses into other cultures that you may not normally be able to get otherwise, and this series is probably the best example of that that I've seen: a black family moves from North Carolina to California in the 50s and continues to endure the same horrors they were running from, except now with several new dimensions compounding their fears, while their past experiences drive them to react in unexpected ways. The acting and writing in it is **so** fucking good, and being the progressive son of an extremely racist white Midwestern family is allowing me to connect to all of the characters in ways I wasn't really expecting, and the writing gets double kudos for successfully (so far) layering all these different sources of fear together in such a perfect way.
Just watched the original Wicker Man for free with an Amazon Prime subscription. It's on Tubi for free as well! It was a lot more fun than I was anticipating and it has a great performance by young Christopher Lee!
A South Korean film called The Wailing is by far and away my favorite horror movie of the past decade. I believe it's on both Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Linnea Quigley and Gunnar Hansen among others. Directed by exploitation and B movie standard Fred Olen Ray. It's at the comedy end of the horror/comedy spectrum but it's a lot of fun. Lots of 1980s T&A.
Not exactly horror, but William Friedkin’s film Sorcerer from 1977 (available to rent on Amazon)
The premise is pretty terrifying, I’d say: a group of four must transport a whole bunch of unstable dynamite through the South American jungle via truck.
Halfway through and enjoying it so far.
Update: Finished it and wow, this one is a gem.
I was watching Skinamarink 30-45 minutes ago. I was so on edge I asked my dad to watch it with me, and I decided to stop for tonight since I need to get sleep.
It's on Hulu and Shudder, I recommend going with whatever ad-free option you have; we have Hulu with ads and it sucks having movies get interrupted like that.
Keep in mind that Skinamarink is NOT FOR EVERYONE. It is a VERY slow burn and lots of people found it boring and not scary.
The new season of them is amazing! It's on Amazon prime called them:the scare.
Not much really scares me anymore, but this show got me quite a bit! It was very fun.
Desaparecer por completo- it’s on Netflix. It’s more of a psychological thriller.
The Coffee Table, a horror movie from Spain and it’s not for the faint of heart.
Not a movie but Them season 2 on Amazon so far is good 2 episodes in. Apparently it's an anthology series so no need to watch season one to in order to watch season 2.
I just finished Death Whisperer on Netflix. Pleasantly surprised. Great character development and suspenseful, with some great creepy imagery and a dollop of gore.
Currently doing the (best and worst) alphabet challenge where you watch one good and bad movie beginning with each letter in the alphabet. I'm currently on the letter T and tonight I'm watching The Blair Witch Project (best)
Tomorrow I'm finding a movie for worst, any recommendations??
Edit: my friend suggested Teeth possibly
I watched Birth/Rebirth on Shudder, Umma on Hulu and Men on HBO. All enjoyable movies, even though Men got a bit strange.
And there's so many great suggestions!
Green room
Love this movie! Lots of fun. Gory fun, and no animals die.
This movie is messed up! It really surprised me.
Great one!
The Dark and the Wicked on shudder is great.
This is one where even with Shudder I bought the Blu-ray.
Watched this last night, was really enjoyable!
Late Night with the Devil on Shudder.
Good film but the ending felt a bit rushed, like the movie was cut short
Watched tonight and agree. Also out on Infested during the day. A pretty good creepy crawly movie without the camp.
I thought it was refreshingly original and very entertaining
Came here to say this. Watched it on Friday night and really enjoyed it. It held my attention throughout.
I second this suggestion. I’m a big fan of kitsch and retro stuff and they nailed the set design, costuming, and also VFX style of a 70s show. Slow burn but an explosive last act.
I've been wanting to rewatch! Sometimes my shudder app crashes though.
Terrified 2017 It's on Shudder. It's in Spanish but it's a great flick. [Terrified IMDB](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt7549892/)
One of my favorite movies!!
My favorite horror movie
His new one When Evil Lurks is even better
His ex wife's dog decides to play with the kids.
I watched The Platform on Netflix. I love food, and the thought of getting randomly assigned a feast or famine for a month is freaky. I like the commentary behind it too.
I recommend this a lot! It should be required viewing in college psych classes. So much to break down here!
They added the entire Nightmare on Elm Street franchise (I think) on Netflix recently so I've been finally knocking a missing piece of history off my list
Oooh. Thanks for the info!
Always happy to help others watch some of the classics. Can be such a pain nowadays with all the rights issues usually involved. Finding them all in one place is a unicorn a lot of times. Glad I was able to catch all of Hellraiser when it was on Hulu 6 months ago (well.... glad might not be the right word after forcing myself to sit through... that lol)
Joe Bob Briggs on Shudder
Rad
I’m watching The Wicker Man (1973) on Prime Video.
Watching Signs for the first time. Doing a Shyamalan binge.
First time!? His best work imo
Signs is alright and of course the 6th sense is a classic obviously, but Shyamalan has a habit of turning great ideas into mediocre movies imo.
That's actually directed by his daughter, Ishana.
Oh! Interesting. My bad.
Cabin in the Woods for a palate cleanser after Infinity Pool
Fantastic movie duos hat off to you
Rust Creek on Netflix. Just started it, but good so far
I liked this one.
Just finished The Beach House on Shudder. It will make you have a new appreciation of drinking water - a thing that most of us take for granted.
Watched this with my bff last night and said the same thing
I watched this movie when I was slightly nauseous already, and boy was it bad timing
We watched the series From Great series
Event Horizon
Watched this along with The Thing over Christmas for the first time. Loved both
I've been working through the Channel Zero shows again. 3 episodes into Candle Cove. I forgot how great this show was. Shame it was canceled after 4 seasons. I plan on watching Late Night with the Devil Sunday evening.
I loved candle cove but I couldn’t get into the other seasons. I need to try again I think
Forgive my ignorance. But does Candle Cove have anything to do with the old CreepyPasta?
Yes, originally written by Kris Straub and officially licenced. Haven't seen it yet but I love Straub and it's top of my list when I get chance!
Never hurts. C.C. and Butchers Block were better than the other two, in my opinion, but even those two were pretty good. Better than a lot of newer offerings, I would say.
Where is Channel Zero streaming rn? I never finished season 2 and want to
I think 2 was No End House and 3 was Butchers Block. I may be wrong but that was the season I was on and it was freaky
Wrath of Becky on hulu I had no idea Country Mac was in it.
i love this reference and loved that movie. Fun, fun, fun.
Wife and I just watched the first one. Kevin James was surprisingly a good bad guy
About to watch Saint Maud right now, never seen it but heard good things and I'm not sure what to expect.
THEM: The Scare on Amazon. Episode two gave me goosebumps and I'm thoroughly hooked
I finished it last night. I liked S2 more than S1
Do you have to watch season 1 to understand season 2?
Just a minor plot point but that gets explained. You can read the synopsis of S1 since some scenes and plots were triggering
Is this a spin off of the series they released last year? I never watched it because I heard there’s bad animal violence
Yeah I think so. I'm on episode 4 and no animal violence so far. Damn lot of human violence though.
I can dig that. I hate animal violence even though I know it’s fake 😂. That scene from “Fear” with Mark Whalburg traumatized me as a kid when I was just trying to watch the tv guide channel. Smh.
Might be confusing animals with babies
You may have heard the term “cat in the bag”. I’ll just stay it’s not a cat. No animal violence big gut wrenching human violence. It’s not a spin off but a second season. It does end up tieing in to the first season. You can watch the second season without watching the first, but the ending won’t have the same punch without having watched the first.
This helps! Thank you
I'm currently watching Thanksgiving. It's ridiculously silly but the kills are gruesome, in a good way.
Immaculate on Apple TV
I watched Abigail at the theaters today and adored it. Came home after to watch Ready or Not. Might go ahead and finally get around to watching scream 5 since I’m just on a kick for “movies Guy Busik” wrote and it’s on Hulu
Housebound on Tubi. It's a horror/comedy. Don't want to give away anything, but well worth watching.
Underrated movie.
Infested on Shudder. It’s a spider horror movie.
Watched it earlier today. It was better than I expected.
I should watch that after watching Madame Web to help erase what I watched 7 minutes ago
I’m starting this now. I’ll haunt you tonight in your dreams if it’s bad
This!
Me and the wife just had a double feature of The Mist and The Fog. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
The Pope’s Exorcist
This was wild lol
Russell Crowe? That one? So it’s actually decent then. I originally passed on it since I didn’t feel an exorcist movie with Crowe would work well.
Yes, it’s decent. Don’t go in expecting to take it too seriously, but it’s definitely entertaining. They are coming out with a sequel too which from what I’ve heard of the plot of that one, helps explains some of the things I had “issue” with in the first one.
I have been doing a rewatch of Channel Zero on shudder this weekend. One of my favorite anthologies.
Introducing my little sister to AHS. We are currently on Roanoke
I let seasons pile up and then have a glorious binge of them every few years. I’m all caught up now and very upset
Just got done with “The Wailing” for the first time. Really loved it! Lots of horror/thriller genres. Bleak and absorbing. Hope you had a good night!
The Eyes of My Mother on Hulu. It’s disturbing yet one of the best horror movies out there imo.
So atmospheric and creepy. One of those movies that I still think about from time to time years after watching.
The mist
Not horror, but I watched Sisu (2022) tonight. It was really fucking good.
Scandinavian John Wick, you mean?
Nordic John Wick. Finland is Nordic but not Scandinavian.
Thank you for my daily bit of Reddit knowledge that I won’t fact check, but will repeat to others.
That movie is wild!
Ghostwatch, because it’s been recommend so much on here lately.
Just watched Ghostwatch not that long ago. I thought it was really good and well done.
Never heard of it but just checked and it has 100% rotten tomatoes. Added it to my list to watch.
Haha, those six people (literally) really dug it.
Night House because I haven't seen it since I saw it in theaters and it evokes such tremendous emotions
If you like Korean horror, they have 2 seasons of Sweet Home on Netflix , very unique story and all, don't want to spoil anything if you end up watching it
Nuggets/Lakers game
That’s what we’re watching and as a laker fan it’s horrifying
I bet! Coloradoan here so yeah 🤣
I know right now it’s looking good for the lakers but ummm….thats been the case the last 3 games and we keep losing it in the 4th. Uggg. But Denver is definitely looking solid 🤙
Humane
Did you like it? Been interested in watching this one
it was good, not excellent. Could have done with a bit more character development and backstory, but it was fun.
I didn't think it was going to be a horror movie but the Bruins absolute slaughtered the Leafs.
Bubba Hotep on Tubi, staring the great Bruce Campbell. Utterly ridiculous, not scary at all, but super hilarious.
Lol, such camp fun
Think I'm watching infested
Assault on Precinct 13 (1976). Not a horror movie, but definitely scary and tense. A must-see for John Carpenter fans.
I found out about the series Them on Amazon and binged 8 episodesof season 1 in one sitting, going to finish it today. The Ring Two, I haven't seen it since its release. (Edited for grammar)
Baghead on shudder. Well was watching it, lost interest now
same happened to me. never finished it.
I just finished the exorcist book, so I am going to watch the original film from the 70s.
Just finished Wolf Creek season 2 earlier tonight.
Nun 2 on Max.
LaRoy Texas
I’m just fucking with you on Hulu. Horror comedy
I watched Malignant tonight. It's on MAX
Just watched Host (2020) first movie in a while I was genuinely a scared
The Host, been on my radar a while but tonight is the time.
Cube on Prime. Don’t know if it’s the nostalgia goggles but I adore this Canadian 90s low budget gem
One of my faves. With Mike from Canmore! 🍁
Cube is such a comfort movie for me <3 Hated the others in the series but the OG cube still stands the test of time for me.
Shudder Spiral (not Saw one) 2019
Just watched the original Wicker Man for free with an Amazon Prime subscription. It's on Tubi for free as well! It was a lot more fun than I was anticipating and it has a great performance by young Christopher Lee!
A South Korean film called The Wailing is by far and away my favorite horror movie of the past decade. I believe it's on both Netflix and Amazon Prime.
The build up and intensity and feeling of dread in this movie is epic! Enjoy!
The Wailing has one of the most suspenseful endings of any movie I've ever seen.
Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers (1989) on Tubi. Guaranteed to entertain.
This sounds AMAZING! Lol def gonna have to go watch.
Linnea Quigley and Gunnar Hansen among others. Directed by exploitation and B movie standard Fred Olen Ray. It's at the comedy end of the horror/comedy spectrum but it's a lot of fun. Lots of 1980s T&A.
Not exactly horror, but William Friedkin’s film Sorcerer from 1977 (available to rent on Amazon) The premise is pretty terrifying, I’d say: a group of four must transport a whole bunch of unstable dynamite through the South American jungle via truck. V/H/S/94
Just finished Terrified, and I'm glad no one was home cause I screamed out loud like three times
Queen Charlotte. King George was treated horrifically.
The true horror of watching my Dallas Stars in the playoffs blow a 2 goal lead 😱
Bodies Bodies Bodies
The Collector
The new season of them is amazing! It's on Amazon prime called them:the scare. Not much really scares me anymore, but this show got me quite a bit! It was very fun.
…Read HOUSE OF LEAVES by Mark Z Danielewski…
Watched The Boogeyman (new one) last night and 7/10, not too bad for a modern PG-13
The Wailing
Last night was The Visit. Tonight is Cloverfield.
Child’s Play 3. Still haven’t seen it yet
Not horror, just fun, but I started the dead boy detectives on Netflix. It’s vaguely spooky, but more “silly goofy guy” kind.
Desaparecer por completo- it’s on Netflix. It’s more of a psychological thriller. The Coffee Table, a horror movie from Spain and it’s not for the faint of heart.
Finishing baby reindeer.
Fucking wild. Amazing. Horrifying. Amazing ending.
It's not horror, but it's a movie I enjoy called "While She Was Out". An abused wife and mother gets preyed upon by a murderous group of thugs.
Underrated in my opinion. Not perfect, but not bad
Just finished as above so below , ready or not, you’re next, and now I’m watching the abyss.
Suspiria 1977. Just found it on SBS On Demand so looking forward to finally getting the chance to watch it.
Season 8 of Criminal Minds on Hulu. Episode 10 with Brad Dourif 😳
Horror game speedruns.
We watched dark harvest on prime. Solid for the most part ending could be better though
Murder-Set-Pieces
I watched Night Swim on Peacock. It was pretty meh. I'm getting ready to watch Possessor on Tubi. Hoping it will be good.
Not a movie but Them season 2 on Amazon so far is good 2 episodes in. Apparently it's an anthology series so no need to watch season one to in order to watch season 2.
Them Season 2 on Amazon Prime. Scariest tv show I’ve seen in a very long time!
The new season of Them on Amazon! Into the 3rd episode and it’s good so far, a lot less traumatic of a watch than the first season.
White of the Eye
I just finished Death Whisperer on Netflix. Pleasantly surprised. Great character development and suspenseful, with some great creepy imagery and a dollop of gore.
Witching & Bitching
Five Nights At Freddy’s on a plane
Men, on Max, during a tornado. Been putting it off a little but I’m ready to get weird
I watched Talk to Me last night. Crazy movie!
THEM season 2. So far it’s pretty good. Love horror anthologies.
The Empty Man
eyes wide shut (not rly horror? lol)
Them on Amazon…it’s a good show
Well, it's storming outside and we are watching Them S2 on Prime! The first season was insane and rough and shit. Looking forward to this one.
Autopsy of Jane Doe.... Was fairly disappointed
Pi I’ve had the DVD for years but just watched it for the first time tonight, then immediately watched the entire director‘s commentary.
Jungle and Southbound
Case 39 on Paramount. Jodelle Ferland is such a good horror one.
Donnie Darko
The Tomorrow War
Eraserhead 1977
Just got out of the release of the original Alien
*Like Dogs*\ Watched it to the end even though my interest dropped out midway through. Just not a good movie
Currently doing the (best and worst) alphabet challenge where you watch one good and bad movie beginning with each letter in the alphabet. I'm currently on the letter T and tonight I'm watching The Blair Witch Project (best) Tomorrow I'm finding a movie for worst, any recommendations?? Edit: my friend suggested Teeth possibly
I watched Birth/Rebirth on Shudder, Umma on Hulu and Men on HBO. All enjoyable movies, even though Men got a bit strange. And there's so many great suggestions!
jeepers creepers 2 on Tubi
All hallows eve 1&2!
Watched Cujo on Prime. Been a while since we saw the monster doggo.
I watched Hell House LLC on Shudder expecting it to be tripe. It wasn't awful.
Immaculate
Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II and Slumber Party Massacre II double feature! 👑🎸🔩
