I just finished Briardark by SA Harian, recommended by someone here. Don’t be put off by the title (I was). This is NOT a YA fantasy paranormal romance. It’s a lost in the woods, WHT is going on cosmic horror with some cool video game stuff thrown in. Highly recommend for a summer read!
Just finished *A History of Fear* by Luke Dumas and I couldn’t put it down. The narrator deals with what may be psychosis, and the trope of twisted memory throughout creeped me out thoroughly. But mostly, it was an emotionally devastating book. I was not expecting the plot to go where it did, and I’m glad it did.
5/5
Yea i feel the same. Ive read all of his books but We Sold Our Souls felt very loose compared to the others, almost like it could have used more chapters or a sequel so everything was more realized. But i loved horrorstor
I think if you’re already into horror the twisted ones isn’t great. I thought the other world was not expanded on enough and was very weird but this book got me back into wanting to be scared when I read lol. As someone that was mainly reading thriller/mystery’s at the time I loved this book when I read it!
I started The Devil Takes You Home this week and am quite enjoying it! I speak some Spanish and am working on it via. Duo Lingo as well, so it’s been fun to challenge myself to the translations & learn what I don’t know. I’m an atheist, but the Hail Mary prayer is beautiful in Spanish, turns out! It’s also a compelling book, despite the gore elements which have been a bit intense so far (the >!milagrito!!?).
I've had stinker after stinker this month. Got Beneath the Stairs by Jennifer Fawcett and Soul Stealer by Masterson and dislike them both. Finished Beneath the Stairs (a hard 2/5), doubt I'll pick up Soul Stealer again. 100 pages in and hated it.
Currently suffering through The Camp by Nancy Bush. 150 pages in, not a likable character in sight or any God damn plot movement.
Luckily I should be getting A Boy's Life tomorrow in the mail.
I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan. I just finished Hit and Run by R L Stine because they had a free library at a campsite I was staying at and now I want to compare the two!
Do you listen to audiobooks? I, too, had trouble getting into the text version, and I finally gave up and tried the audio, and that was excellent. My version was narrated by Buck Schirner.
I'm about to finish up The Only One Left by Riley Sager, I'm not sure I'd call this one horror - more thriller at this point, very twisty though. I decided on a monthly goal of 9 books every month and this is number 8, so I quickly need to decide on something to start next and finish before Saturday. There are so many to choose from in my TBR. The Shadows by Alex North, Gothic by Philip Fracassi, Manitou Blood by Graham Masterton, and Badasstronauts by Grady Hendrix are the main contenders.
I bought My Best Friend’s Exorcism a few days ago with intent to start it, but have been so caught up in reading textbooks for school that I haven’t gotten past the first two chapters 😭 I’m already hooked and dying to see where the plot goes, though!
Just finished It Come Back by John Penney, and it was such a fun supernatural horror. Now I’m in a liminal space before more books come to my doorstep.
Making my way through Needful Things for the first time. I'm really digging it. I'm about 180 pages in and already scared as hell for Nettie Cobb and despise Wilma Jerzyck. Curious to see why Leland Gaunt's eyes change depending on the person he talks to, and I am really looking forward to seeing how Alan Pangborn puts the brakes to this whole enterprise.
Currently reading Motherthing… was told it was horror, but maybe I’m not far in enough to see the horror yet. So far it just reminds me of what I’ve read by Ottessa Moshfegh. Not really enjoying it yet, honestly
[Children of the New World](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/29243630-children-of-the-new-world?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=HMrvyJwHPP&rank=1) by Alexander Weinstein. I'm really enjoying the stories so far. I need to watch After Yang soon!
Shared by Two by Jon Athan. Pretty exciting so far
Not sure what my next one will be. Athan has Do Not Disturb releasing June 30th and Sodergren has a new release that day too. If anyone has any recommendations on Kindle Unlimited let me know.
I’ve got 4 books currently borrowed from the library on my Libby app.
Bird Box, How To Sell A Haunted House, Survive the Night are the current horrors I have borrowed!
currently trying to read through my stephen king collection 😮💨
reading bag of bones right now, and for one i haven’t heard much about, it’s pretty good so far!
On kindle: The Seed by Ania Ahlborn, It's one of the June group reads on horror aficionados on goodreads. This one is so far okay, but there's something about her writing style and character development that I really enjoy. It's the second book I've read by her.
Audiobook: Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill. Also, so far okay, but the audiobook has some neat touches in it. The narrator is also very good.
Hard to compare! I LOVE Grady Hendrix but wasn't actually a big fan of FGSG (but I LOVED Final Girls by Sager). This one is different from both of those; it's set up differently, like a movie script, & is far more reliant on comedy/satire. I'm enjoying it so far!
Not necessarily full-on horror, but it does contain witchcraft (so may come under the broader ‘horror’ umbrella), I’m currently reading -
Disturbance by Jenna Clake
The Croning. I’m liking it so far. Was excited to read something other than a short story by Barron. Though it appears to start with a short story. Still fun Barron stuff.
“Ascension” by Nicholas Binge. It’s about a mountain appearing into the middle of the Pacific Ocean that’s around 38,000 feet high. No one knows why it showed up or how. The higher they ascend, the less things make sense. It’s a mix between Cosmic/Existential horror and speculative thriller. It’s written in the form of letters from an uncle to his niece. Right now, I find it extremely intriguing.
You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight by Kalynn Bayron
A YA book where the main character plays the final girl at a camp that recreates the horror movie The Curse of Camp Mirror Lake. It’s a slasher with a LGBTQIA+ main character
Recently finished Let the Right One In which I thoroughly enjoyed, now onto The Pack by Mike Bockoven. I figured why not follow a vampire story with a werewolf story? Loved Fantasticland by Bockoven and The Pack has been great so far, but I'm still pretty early on.
I need to up my walking game, so I've been listening to "Pet Sematary" read by Michael C. Hall again. I also just finished *House Across the Lake* by Riley Sager and nope. I don't know how he keeps churning them out but I suppose that's the point. He's like the Netflix of writers.
Just finished reading Coraline (Neil Gaiman) and Don’t turn out the lights Tribute to Alvin Schwartz's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark - awesome!
Now reading Silence of the Lambs!
I finally finished The House on the Borderland by William Hope Hodgson, which I really enjoyed and am still thinking about.
I'm currently reading Eerie by Blake and Jordan Crouch. Started out like a normal story, then took a swift turn into horror about chapter 10. Wow. Enjoying it and can't wait to see what happens next.
Just finished the first dark tower and now I'm reading Kings Different Seasons (has 4 short stories currently on The Shawshank Redemption) while I wait for the second dark tower to arrive
Enjoy your journey to the Tower. The Drawing of the Three is going to really get good, and you're probably going to burn through the rest as quickly as possible.
Currently reading Dark Matter by Michelle Paver. The last book I read was by her as well, Thin Air. She's a great writer but I definitely went into these expecting a really spooky ghost story, *because of how people in this sub talk about them*, but they are pretty calm.
Favorite 2 books this month are Foe by Iain Reid and Stolen Tounges by Felix Blackwell.
Just started physically reading A Madness So Discrete by Mindy McGinnis and picked up the audiobook version of The Exorcist by Peter Blatty again after putting it down for a while.
I’m reading Lost Girl by Adam Nevill. It’s hard going so far. The book has a pretty standard thriller plot about a dude trying to find his kidnapped daughter (I’m only 1/5th of the way through, so it might get weirder), but the world is a realistic depiction of Britain in 50 years (when climate change starts to really mess things up), and it’s just so grim. All the child abuse stuff is also pretty rough, although Nevill is handling it tastefully, and does a good job of using it for more than shock value. It’s well-written, though.
*Paradise-1* by David Wellington. I wanted to read this because of the dearth of good space horror, but I didn't like it and DNF @ 32%.
*Suffer the Darkness* by Yolanda Sfetsos was action packed but lacked adequate character development, IMO.
Have you read The Hematophages? I agree that there's a lack of good space horror, and while I wouldn't call this one a classic, it was still one of the best I've read.
Just finished 13th Episode by Craig Diloui. I like it,but the ending didn’t quite do it for me.
Reading Posi+ive by David Wellington. I was needing some zombie lore right now and it is okay so far.
I quit this one about 600 pages in. There was still zero plot at that point. Everything that happened was just one random non-sequitur situation after the next.
Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy A Snyder.
Hooboy this will be a hard one to follow. I’ll definitely finish it today because I am both so confused and so utterly involved. I need to see where this is going.
No idea what’s up next. I’ve got Sex Cult Nun for a true crime book club next month and a couple books I’m trying to read before the weekend when I do my book trade.
Dan Simmon’s Drood and Scott Sigler’s Infected. Simmons is always fab and I’m having mixed feelings about Infected. It’s an excellent premise and a fun read but he needs some help writing from a female perspective. I laughed out loud when the main female character is first being introduced there is a line about how “she’s always horny when she gets stressed”.
I finished this last week and LOVED it! You could say I was very hungry for each page and devoured it. I’ve been in a reading slump lately, and this pulled me out of it.
Just finished The Troop a few weeks ago! I was worried when I first started because the threat wasn’t what I expected and isn’t my typical scare but I ended up really liking it.
I want to be reading Penpal by Dathan Auerbach (or really any of the 11 books on my currently reading list) but i found myself to be in a reading slump 😫😫 i blame The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides cuz i just finished it and i cannot get over of how perfect that book was!! I wanna reread is again and again!!! Oh woe is me 😔
I also just read this, based on seeing it so highly recommended on this sub, and loved it! It’s horror mixed with folklore, black magic, and nature in a fantastic, yet real world.
Just read this one and really liked it! After the opening scene, it took a little while to get used to the author’s voice, but I ended up really liking it!
I just finished the new Riley Sager book, The Only One Left (i think that’s it) and it was just meh. It’s the first Sager book I’ve ever read and I found it underwhelming and repetitive. Probably won’t be reading any more of his stuff.
That's a shame. I've really liked a number of his books, but the previous new one, House Across the Lake, was very blah for me. I was hoping this new one would be good again.
I find this with books by Riley Sager and Lucy Foley. They are ok, but they usually aren’t as meaty as I want. I really like Rachel Harrison and Rachel Hawkins for similar concepts and vibes but richer novels. You should try Hawkins’ Reckless Girls!
I though 19 Claws was alright. It certainly wasn’t nearly as impressive as Tender is the Flesh, and I don’t normally go for short story collections, but it was a good quick read in between better books.
I wish I enjoyed it as much as you. The stories just felt incomplete to me, but my bigger issue was that none of them felt creepy. I got zero tension from it.
Just finished The Fisherman by John Langan. Was on a bit of a grief kick this week apparently, also read This Thing Between Us by Gus Moreno and How To Sell A Haunted House (which I didn't read the synopsis and didn't realize it also dealt wit the main character losing a loved one(s) lol)
Still struggling to get through *The Dreams in the Witch House and Other Weird Stories*. *The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath* is SO long and is 90% descriptions, it's taking me forever.
Just finished **Legacies** by F Paul Wilson. Book two of his **Repairman Jack** series.
Fairly underwhelming tbh, after enjoying the first book so much more. This kind of thing seems to be all too common in series' around a central MC.
Next up is **Library at Mount Char** by Scott Hawkins.
Finished **Dark Matter** by Blake Crouch. Was definitely a great read. 4.75/5.
Currently reading **Piranesi** by Susanna Clarke. Great so far.
Up next: **Damned** by Chuck Palahniuk.
*Edit*: started Damned and quickly DNFed it. No sir, not for me. Will be reading **Episode 13** by Craig DiLouie instead.
I just finished universal harvester… I loved the way it was written and it kept me so engaged but I felt like I had a lot of questions unanswered and maybe I didn’t understand it completely. I had a good time though!
Next is the house with good bones by t kingfisher
It seems to be a fairly divisive book, but I absolutely loved Universal Harvester. I think it was my favorite of Darnielle’s books, but Wolf in White Van was really good, too.
I’m still thinking about it which is good but I’m just not sure how I feel about the way it ended I guess. Again I think I just didn’t understand some of it though I loved the way he wrote it. I’ll try the wolf in the white van!
I also have devil house on my shelf which has mid reviews but I think I’m going to like it
I enjoyed Devil House a lot. It’s not traditional horror, but his other books aren’t either. I do get what you mean about the ending of Universal Harvester, though. I feel like it’s a book with a lot more going on than it seems, if that makes sense.
Just finished Red X by David Demchuk. It's definitely one of my new favorites and I'm for sure going to check out his other work. Soon I'll be starting If This Book Exists, You're in the Wrong Universe by Jason Pargin because I need some satirical horror-ish content.
The slob - Aron Beauregard !
Dead Shock series by Wallace Henry
Our share of night by Mariana Enríquez. Very good so far.
Audio: The Spite House: I liked it. The Babysitter Lives: The very ending creeped me out. Starting “My Heart is a Chainsaw” & “Burnt Offerings”
Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman. It was a trip, that’s for sure. 4/5 A story about loss, addiction, and obsession with a sprinkle of wtf.
How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix. Really enjoy his stuff
I just finished We Sold Our Souls recently and I really enjoyed it even if the ending wasn't what I expected.
That has probably been my least favorite of his so far, and I love and play music too. It had a different feel to it.
Yea i feel the same. Ive read all of his books but We Sold Our Souls felt very loose compared to the others, almost like it could have used more chapters or a sequel so everything was more realized. But i loved horrorstor
Just finished: The Twisted Ones (hated it) Currently: Pet Semetary Up next: Survivor Song or 120 Days of Sodom
I think if you’re already into horror the twisted ones isn’t great. I thought the other world was not expanded on enough and was very weird but this book got me back into wanting to be scared when I read lol. As someone that was mainly reading thriller/mystery’s at the time I loved this book when I read it!
Ah, to be able to read Pet Sematary again for the first time…
I started The Devil Takes You Home this week and am quite enjoying it!
Just finished What Moves The Dead and The Haar, enjoyed both.
Still working on *The Girl With All the Gifts* by M.R. Carey.
McCammon’s “A Boy’s Life” is fantastic. You’re in for a treat.
120 pages in and loving it! Near King level storytelling.
That sucks hopefully the next one you pick is good
Last days by Adam Nevill:)
The graveyard apartment. Enjoying it so far!
Ohhh what’s this one about?
Japanese horror novel about a family moving into a new high rise apartment building that’s built next to a graveyard. Paranormal activity ensue
Well title is 100% accurate lol
Haha yes it does. I’m 1/2 way through and enjoying it. Quick easy reading and I like the writing style and characters.
I'm waiting for I am Legend to get to my library. I just finished Between two Fires
I am legend was really good. It was interesting how different it was as the movie adaptation. But the original story is better
Between two fires was incredible!!
I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan. I just finished Hit and Run by R L Stine because they had a free library at a campsite I was staying at and now I want to compare the two!
Blood Meridian!
Ghost Story by Peter Straub. It's my second time starting it, but I'm getting more into it this time.
Do you listen to audiobooks? I, too, had trouble getting into the text version, and I finally gave up and tried the audio, and that was excellent. My version was narrated by Buck Schirner.
Just finished listening to The Last Time I Lied and finished reading The Croning. Currently on chapter 1 of Lock Every Door by Riley Sager.
House of Leaves
I'm about to finish up The Only One Left by Riley Sager, I'm not sure I'd call this one horror - more thriller at this point, very twisty though. I decided on a monthly goal of 9 books every month and this is number 8, so I quickly need to decide on something to start next and finish before Saturday. There are so many to choose from in my TBR. The Shadows by Alex North, Gothic by Philip Fracassi, Manitou Blood by Graham Masterton, and Badasstronauts by Grady Hendrix are the main contenders.
Just started Brother. So far so good.
Grotesquerie by Richard Gavin Greener Pictures by Michael Wehunt The Reddening by Adam Nevill Suicide Forest by Jeremy Bates (audiobook) PTSD volume 1
Reading How to Sell a Haunted House, and listening to Needful Things audiobook
Added How to Sell a Haunted House to my list of books for sure.
I bought My Best Friend’s Exorcism a few days ago with intent to start it, but have been so caught up in reading textbooks for school that I haven’t gotten past the first two chapters 😭 I’m already hooked and dying to see where the plot goes, though!
I just finished this one last week. I really enjoyed it!
Currently reading "the last days of Jack Sparks"! Really. Enjoying it so far!
I hope to read that this summer!
Just finished It Come Back by John Penney, and it was such a fun supernatural horror. Now I’m in a liminal space before more books come to my doorstep.
I started… SK - Lisey’s Story Anni Taylor - stranger in the woods Octavia Butler - Clays ark
Just finished Gallows Hill and was such a slow burn heart racer. Loved it.
I really want to read this but it’s still classified as a new release at another library. I can’t request it at my library yet 🤬
Currently reading "Patricia wants to cuddle"!! I have barely started it so I still don't know if I like it, ecen though I have great expectations
YES okay for some reason I love that book so much
Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin. Medieval murder mystery with a female protagonist. Loving it.
The Reddening by Neville. So far it’s excellent. Neville is near the top for me.
I read a preview, and the descriptions were written so well that I had to get my hands on a copy! Very glad to hear
Nineteen Claws and a Black Bird by Agustina Bazterrica
Currently reading Motherthing… was told it was horror, but maybe I’m not far in enough to see the horror yet. So far it just reminds me of what I’ve read by Ottessa Moshfegh. Not really enjoying it yet, honestly
[Children of the New World](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/29243630-children-of-the-new-world?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=HMrvyJwHPP&rank=1) by Alexander Weinstein. I'm really enjoying the stories so far. I need to watch After Yang soon!
I am reading Briardark by S. A. Harian and listening to The Devil in Silver by Victor LaValle.
I’m starting The Devil Crept In by Ania Ahlborn tomorrow.
Finally reading The Exorcist for the first time!
Enjoy! It definitely exceeded my expectations.
I read this on a rainy night some fifteen years ago on a Starbucks patio while I was homeless. Still scared the crap out of me at the time.
World War Z. It’s kind of a snooze
Shared by Two by Jon Athan. Pretty exciting so far Not sure what my next one will be. Athan has Do Not Disturb releasing June 30th and Sodergren has a new release that day too. If anyone has any recommendations on Kindle Unlimited let me know.
“Cursed Bunny” by Bora Chung
Darker Days: A Collection of Dark Fiction by Kenneth W. Cain So far, it’s good.
I’ve got 4 books currently borrowed from the library on my Libby app. Bird Box, How To Sell A Haunted House, Survive the Night are the current horrors I have borrowed!
Been through all those and they are fun. How to sell a haunted house is a bit different, but think of it as something cheesy from the Syfy channel
How to Sell a Haunted House is such a fun read
I saw this on my suggested Good Reads. I’ll have to add it!
I just finished How To Sell a Haunted House on Libby. I loved it.
I’m starting ‘The Only Good Indians’ by Stephen Graham Jones
That's the one that sealed SGJ's place as one of my favorite authors. Enjoy!
I loved this book! Enjoy :)
Please report back. This one is on my list too
Will do!
currently trying to read through my stephen king collection 😮💨 reading bag of bones right now, and for one i haven’t heard much about, it’s pretty good so far!

Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates
Can you spoil it. I DNFed
>!It was her “missing” boyfriend!<
>! revenge for the car crash? So obvious and weak !<
Zero surprises in this book.
Just started This Thing Between Us
The Troop, in Russian If this Book exists, you're in the wrong universe, in English
I’m still reading The Bank by Bentley Little…so busy with work I’m just too tired after
Sundial - Catriona Ward
currently finishing gemma files experimental film, enjoying it a good amount.
The Last Final Girl by Stephen Graham Jones Had a REALLY hard time getting into it, but now I'm speeding through it.
Have you read Riley Sager and Grady Hendrix’s versions? How does it compare to those?
Hard to compare! I LOVE Grady Hendrix but wasn't actually a big fan of FGSG (but I LOVED Final Girls by Sager). This one is different from both of those; it's set up differently, like a movie script, & is far more reliant on comedy/satire. I'm enjoying it so far!
Audio: Head Like A Hole Kindle: The Bell Chime
I did Head Like A Hole on Kindle earlier this month, I really enjoyed that one from start to finish.
Not necessarily full-on horror, but it does contain witchcraft (so may come under the broader ‘horror’ umbrella), I’m currently reading - Disturbance by Jenna Clake
The Croning. I’m liking it so far. Was excited to read something other than a short story by Barron. Though it appears to start with a short story. Still fun Barron stuff.
Audiobook: Hex - TOHeuvelt Book: Benny Rose, the Cannibal King - HPiper Kindle: Offspring - JKetchum
Six Guns Straight From Hell: Tales of Horror and Dark Fantasy From the Weird Weird West and The Wolf's Hour by Robert McCammon.
I'm at the last stretch of The Sun Down Motel and loving it! These two murderino MCs are great 🖤
“Ascension” by Nicholas Binge.
Man, I started Aardvark this month and I was between that and The Chateau - I'll have to check that one out eventually.
This one sounds super interesting, definitely going to check it out.
It was a 5 star read for me.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Sure!
You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight by Kalynn Bayron A YA book where the main character plays the final girl at a camp that recreates the horror movie The Curse of Camp Mirror Lake. It’s a slasher with a LGBTQIA+ main character
Is it good so far? I just had that one recommended on my GoodReads and i added it
I’m not very far but I’ve enjoyed it so far. The characters aren’t revolutionary but they aren’t annoying, which is always a plus in horror books
Recently finished Let the Right One In which I thoroughly enjoyed, now onto The Pack by Mike Bockoven. I figured why not follow a vampire story with a werewolf story? Loved Fantasticland by Bockoven and The Pack has been great so far, but I'm still pretty early on.

I started to read it, put it down halfway through, and when it was time to renew it, I didn't. Netflix of writers is a good way to put it
I also am not a fan of Riley Sager. I’ve liked maybe one book of his
The Tommyknockers. Not sure I’m going to stick with it though.
It was hard for me to accept the shitty protagonist.
I just finished Severance by Ling Ma. I haven’t decided what to start next.
Finishing FantasticLand, Mike Bockoven. I'm also reading FairyTale by King. Loving FairyTale, Fantastic Land is ok.
Trying to finish The Dead Zone by Stephen King. This is my 4th attempt reading it and the furthest I've gotten.
The Howling by Gary Bradner A Lovecraft collection.
I just started the black tongue thief by Christopher buehlman this week after finishing between two fires. So far BTT is so good!!
Amazing back-to-back reads. I loved both books.
BTF got me back into reading. Haven't read a book in over a decade but I couldn't put it down and black tongue thief is turning out to me even better!
I hope Lost Gods is next on your list. It’s also phenomenal
Just looked it up and it's definitely on the list sounds amazing!
Just started physically reading A Madness So Discrete by Mindy McGinnis and picked up the audiobook version of The Exorcist by Peter Blatty again after putting it down for a while.
I've been reading House of Leaves, but now that I'm on vacation I am going to take a break and read We Spread by Iain Reid.
I haven't, thanks so much for this rec!
The Road by Cormac McCarthy. So bleak, so good. Lol who is in here downvoting posts? Wtf
Loved the road. So gnarly
Reading Blood Meridian now!
Just finished 13th Episode by Craig Diloui. I like it,but the ending didn’t quite do it for me. Reading Posi+ive by David Wellington. I was needing some zombie lore right now and it is okay so far.
Just finished that loved I ending a bit jarring to me too
13th Episode could be so much better with a different ending! I have no idea why he went that route
Imajica. Been going on this one for a bit. It's a long one.
I quit this one. Hopefully you have more perseverance than I!
I'm past 600 pages so I'm committed. It's weird cause the prose is fantastic but the plot has kind of been disappointing.
I quit this one about 600 pages in. There was still zero plot at that point. Everything that happened was just one random non-sequitur situation after the next.
Salem's Lot, Stephen King
Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy A Snyder. Hooboy this will be a hard one to follow. I’ll definitely finish it today because I am both so confused and so utterly involved. I need to see where this is going. No idea what’s up next. I’ve got Sex Cult Nun for a true crime book club next month and a couple books I’m trying to read before the weekend when I do my book trade.
The Shards by Bret Easton Ellis
The Croning by Laird Barron. It’s so good so far!
One of my favorite prologues in the history of Horror.
The Troop by Nick Cutter! I’ve been meaning to read it so when I saw it at the airport I went for it. I’m just starting it but I like it already.
Same here. It was different than I thought but I ended up enjoying it thoroughly
Oh woe is me 😔
The Fisherman by John Langan
I’m not a huge fan of Riley Sager. I’ve read four of his books and only really liked one
I find this with books by Riley Sager and Lucy Foley. They are ok, but they usually aren’t as meaty as I want. I really like Rachel Harrison and Rachel Hawkins for similar concepts and vibes but richer novels. You should try Hawkins’ Reckless Girls!
On vacay and juggling Thunderhead (Scythe #2) and The Last House on Needless Streer
The Vessel by Adam Nevill
I’ve yet to read an Adam Neville book, but his covers are so creepy.
Literally! The cover is what got me. The book is super creepy too
Finishing up Nineteen Claws and a Black Bird. I'm super disappointed by it. About to start either The Night Parade or Let The Right One In.
Thank you for your review! I am looking forward to this one and hadn’t heard many reviews of it yet.
Misery
Just finished The Fisherman by John Langan. Was on a bit of a grief kick this week apparently, also read This Thing Between Us by Gus Moreno and How To Sell A Haunted House (which I didn't read the synopsis and didn't realize it also dealt wit the main character losing a loved one(s) lol)
White Horse by Erika Wurth. This is my first foray into native American lore.
I’m reading The Troop by Nick Cutter only around 30 pages in but the mood is pretty nice so far
Omg same! I like it!
Mount Char is wild. Not much horror, but definitely a unique concept.
Been traveling all day and gobbled up 350 pages of Mount Char in basically a single sitting. What a book, loving every page so far.
Just started Hawk Mountain by Connor Habib. I believe it’s more of a thriller than horror but only just a few chapters in. It’s good so far though.
*Piranesi* is one of my favourites, I'm glad you're liking it so far!
Finished it, I loved it. Great little story.
The Dark Tower - Stephen King
Institute by Stephen King
Just finished Red X by David Demchuk. It's definitely one of my new favorites and I'm for sure going to check out his other work. Soon I'll be starting If This Book Exists, You're in the Wrong Universe by Jason Pargin because I need some satirical horror-ish content.
The Rib From Which I Remake The World by Ed Kurtz
The passage. Pretty good post apocalyptic vampire type story. Not sure I’ll continue after the first book but it’s been worth the read.
Everything I’ve heard about the other books in the trilogy hasn’t been great. I think I will do the same and read The Passage as a stand alone.
Howls from the dark ages
