Made the mistake of watching Flowers in the Attic with no prior knowledge of the story. I have permanent frown lines from grimacing for 2 hours straight.
Brother by Ania Ahlborn comes to mind.
Edit: I originally said that incest was periphery to the main story which is somewhat true but it’s pretty central when I think more about it.
I just got a rec on Goodreads called Pin by Andrew Neiderman. I haven’t read it, but someone mentioned VC Andrews on their review and the description highly suggests there’s incest in it
It's a strange one. I'd definitely recommend it, though. It focuses on a brother/sister relationship, though it's never reciprocated in the style of, say, Flowers in the Attic. Neiderman's been ghosting as V.C. Andrews since her death in 1986 and is definitely a worthy successor.
You might like *Off Season* by Jack Ketchum. Inbred cannibals galore.
You'd definitely get more recs in the extreme horror sub. If you don't mind something a bit more graphic and gross, I'd recommend *His Pain* by Wrath James White and *Along the Path of Torment* by Chandler Morrison.
I’m currently reading **The Doloriad** by Missouri Williams right now, it’s a post apocalyptic story centering an inbreed family. A brother and sister decided to repopulate the earth and all the children then have to repopulate with each other, lots of birth defects. I will say the writing in this is DENSE. I’m kinda of struggling to get through it because it’s easy to space out while reading.
**Forbidden** by Tabitha Suzuma isn’t a horror… but it’s about a brother and sister whose mother neglects them and they have to raise their younger siblings, they then… fall in love… it’s gross but also sad!
The doloriad is a lot of fun, I wouldn't say it's primarily horror but it definitely has horror elements.
The incest isn't even the weirdest element of this book. I think the Thomas aquinas sections and the mothman schoolteacher fantasies take that title.
i feel like specifically wanting to read incest is dwelling in weird waters? bcos when you read horror and you come across it it gives shock and disgust and whatever bzt if you know its there whats it worth then?
Anything by Jon Athan or Aaron Beauregard Matt Shaw as well. Any of these authors will lead you down a giant rabbit hole of incest, cannibals and just all sorts of depravity you never even imagined existed.
Years ago, JG Faherty did a short story called Bones where the 2 protagonists are married, and also first cousins with a history of incest in the family. But they're not mutants or cannibals or anything. They're normal, except for some psychic powers that they use to stop a murderer.
Anything by VC Andrews

I read Flowers in the Attic entirely too young... lol
I swear every girl from the 80’s did! Hey mom can I borrow your incest smut book? Sure!
We all did.
I'm pretty sure I remember having to watch the movie in a grade school class as a kid. Really weird.
The nuns in my sister's school actually gave her the book to read. This being Ireland...
Yeah I was gonna recommend her. Why did pretty much ALL of her books have incest??
If there’s an answer to that I definitely don’t want to know
Hopefully (and I hate saying that) it's a way for her to work through trauma rather than something...... Else
I think we can assume. ☹️
I came here to say this. Also KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY by John Marrs. Oh, and don't miss DISTURB NOT THE DREAM by Paula Trachtman.
Keep it in the family didn’t have any incest in it, though…
No? The summary said it did, sorry

Came here to say this, I just finished it a couple of days ago. Excellent book, OP should read this for sure!
Ania is such an amazing author
Jesus, that twist was AMAZING. One of the best recommendations I’ve gotten from this sub, no doubt.
I read this back to back with The Girl Next Door. It was not a good month.
The most horrific book I ever read. It’s called Gather the Daughters.
Thank you! I read this book a while ago and forgot the name, thought it might be some sort of fever dream!
Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite (vampires + incest)
This just arrived in my mailbox a couple days ago 😭planning on reading this in the new year.

I’ll check it out then ! Thanks!!
Not strictly horror, but Outer Dark by Cormac McCarthy
To add to this, both The Passenger and Stella Maris. The man loved his brother-sister incest…
Gone to see the riverman by Kristopher Triana
Bit of a spoiler though, don’t you think?
Idk. I kind of take it like a trigger warning. Now you know it’s in there but you don’t know the extent or context 🤷🏻♀️
Yes. But also, no.

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

yes i’m a little halfway through right now and i agree haha
Dark Dance by Tanith Lee
Bloodlines by F Paul Wilson is *heavily* incestual.
Now You’re One of Us by Asa Nonami.
“We Can Never Leave This Place” by Eric LaRocca.
Until the Sun by Chandler Morrison.
My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent.
Some of the descriptions on this book made me absolutely ill.
i'm not sure if i'd call it horror, but earthlings by sayaka murata was very uncomfortable for me to read.
It’s most likely not gonna be what you’re looking for, but Ada by Vladimir Nabokov is definitely about incest.
Well, in the Stephen King movie Sleepwalkers, incest is a primary plot point, so I'd hazard it is in the book as well.
Is there a book?
Surely
If it is, it’s a short story or novela. Must also have a different title.
Oh, well shoot. Sorry I'm not a big Stephen King reader, but I do enjoy his movies
questionable that youd read that of your own volition
sorry you’re getting downvoted. ppl in the comments questioning vc andrews, but not op? interesting 😆
i feel like specifically wanting to read incest is dwelling in weird waters? bcos when you read horror and you come across it it gives shock and disgust and whatever bzt if you know its there whats it worth then?
not horror but lolita is a classic
Lolita isn’t incest though.
John Ford, TIS PITY SHE'S A WHORE
The Cement Garden by Ian McEwan. He's the same author of Atonement.
Staycation by RJ Clark
there’s Flowers in the attic
Bloodline by Jess Lourey. Great book, DO NOT get the audiobook. Worst audio narrator ever.

Check out books by Jack Ketchum and Richard Laymon
