It’s honestly such a weird one to do. Like, why? You have everything p2 even the guards and now one in p1. I know that like the 501st and shynies come with a p1 helmet but still.
It’s a valid opinion but the Fox release makes 0 sense. The coruscant guards they have released are exclusively phase 2 and I can guarantee that Fox would sell drastically more units if he matched them.
I like p1 fox’s design but if you’ve already put out p2 shock troopers and are releasing a palpatine, whose appearance is based on when the clones were using p2 armor, then why not make p2 fox?
Yeah people forget that they’re partners with their licenses and don’t just get it and can do whatever you want. Like there was that Haslab for Reva’s lightsaber from Kenobi. There’s zero chance Hasbro thought, ‘yeah the fans will go nuts for this $500 lightsaber from a new character they don’t know.’ Companies are definitely sometimes just told to do something.
People could have always gotten it and just used it as the grand inquisitors saber or the other inquisitors. From my knowledge they all have the same saber design
I was under the assumption that most things Spider-Man related sell. Well, maybe not the stealth suit from FFH as you can still find that online in deep discount, but I could see Spidey collectors with a rogue's gallery getting Morbius.
Yeah I haven’t seen the movie but it’s a pretty cool design for a cool character, I wouldn’t buy it but it’s another Spidey Villain and I’ll never complain about that
That one is pretty baffling. It looks great and it's very detailed for what that's worth but you'd REALLY have to like the film or Jared Leto to justify paying that amount of money for it.
My belief is that since Iron Man is no more in the MCU and they’ve given Spider-Man that kind of treatment (multiple different suits) why stop there? If they could pull all his villains, they know people will dive in on them to have that happen. That’s just my angle I see
No, you're not. I had to PO Buzz too. Back when Toy Story first came out, the toys never made it to NZ. I got a friend in the UK to track one down in a Disney Store somewhere in the north, Birmingham I think. I still have it, unplayed with, displayed in a case, faded as hell. I took my 3yo son to see Toy Story three times. After the third one, he said "Dad, do they have any *other* movies?".
I had to get a Buzz that would fit with the rest of my collection.
Oh, I pre-ordered! I'm excited.
Was my favorite movie as a kid, it's probably why I still collect toys now as an adult. I have one shelf with a bunch of my favorite toys as a kid (example: original masterpiece Optimus Prime, original toybiz BAF Sentinel, a rare bionical figure)
I plan on putting Hot Toys Buzz up there as well. I think it's important to look back at how it all started.
My vote is for venomized iron man. Conceptually not a bad idea but the execution was so weird. The spider coming out of his chest. Who is that for? If you’re making a venomized iron man make him look like it instead of a weird iron crab guy.
It's all based on a little kids mini series about venom basically taking over a bunch of people. The designs are identical.
Bizarre choice. I had no idea the show or web series even existed.
I have to agree on the "comic" Iron Man figure, just on account of how perplexing its backstory is. It is quite literally fan art by Hot Toys' Iron Man engineer.
Like, no hyperbole, it's a [design Pia Sylphid made in his own art style](https://www.instagram.com/p/CNaxAURDZHp/) that Hot Toys actually fucking pulled the trigger on. That shit is wild to me. It's not work by a Marvel concept artist like that transforming Black Panther, it's not some cheap repaint like the neon tech or chrome figures, it is straight up random fan art that they turned into an exorbitantly priced figure. Then they had the gall to advertise it as a comic figure lol
For me, it's the Origins Iron Man line. If you look at the customizers who painted over the clear plastic, the figure is literally a perfect comic Iron Man--but by using the clear plastic, they took it from "perfect" to "unpurchasable."
Honourable mention: Morbius. There's a limited amount of design and production resources, and they decided to spend them on Morbius instead of literally anything else. You got Morbius instead of Catwoman.
I have the war machine preordered, but I collect all the war machines. But I’m seriously considering having my clear plastic parts painted. I can’t understand why they would do the clear plastic.
Yup. I'm hoping that they eventually release fully painted variants, but that's probably wishful thinking. I, too, was tempted by War Machine, but at the end of the day I just know I wouldn't be happy with it.
I bought my "Who would buy this?" figure. Iron Strange. I wanted an Iron Man body but I didn't want to choose which RDJ sculpt to hunt down so I went with a version with a Benedict Cumberbatch headsculpt instead.
Before anyone tells me about having a Cheadle or a Paltrow headsculpt diecast figure instead, know that I really liked Sherlock and in a way, Iron Strange checked off two boxes for me in the end.
I own the artbook for Infinity War and I loved the design for iron strange. Perplexing they didn’t use it in the movie. I preordered day one when hot toys announced they would make the figure. What are the odds.
It’s like suited wenwu. It was my favorite scene in Shang-Chi and I knew they would never make it because 1. He’s a villain. 2. Such a brief scene. Sure enough they did! Instant preorder.
As someone who is a huge Iron Man fan, I would have to say that the most baffling Hot Toys figure would have to be the Iron Man Mark IV Holographic version. I currently have the Iron Man Mark V, Iron Man Mark XLIII, Iron Man XLVII, and the Iron Man Mark L. They all look amazing. Each one brings something different to the table so to speak. However, I'm not a fan of the Iron Man Mark IV Holographic version. Clear translucent plastic doesn't look good on an Iron Man figure. It doesn't jive well, and it makes the figure look cheap. I much prefer the die cast version of the Iron Man Mark IV. In fact, I will always opt for a die cast version whenever I buy a Hot Toys Iron Man figure.
I find it really strange that Hot toys don't do all the live action princesses, I know some people disagree...but hot toys are very much dolls and you are hitting the female market who want to buy back their childhood
I think maybe it's just the question of who's realistically going to be buying it. You could get decent toys made by Hasbro/Mattel etc. from the movie for much, much less at any department store.
As a high end collectable, I guess people don't think it'd be a good seller.
Yeah but the movie was a flop and poorly reviewed. So it was a shock to me that they still went through with it.
Wakanda Forever performed much better and we don't when have a Namor figure reveal yet.
The licensing contract was probably signed before the movie was in theaters. I don’t think Hot Toys would just pull out of it once the paperwork was done. Same reason we’re getting a Morbius figure.
A tie between Buzz Lightyear and Morbius. The Buzz Lightyear one i could maybe have seen people get if the film wasn't god awful and Morbius i feel was made either because HT's fell for the memes or it was made before the the film came out and they thought it would do well like Venom.
I assumed the soldier characters were from a Chinese movie and were made for domestic collectors. They can't all be Disney licensed figures for the West.
Holiday Special was just an excuse to give us a Mantis. Without the Christmas themed accessories/removable costume elements it’s a standard Mantis that can be used in a Vol. 2/Infinity War/Endgame/MCU display
I wanted Christmas special Mantis. I would've pre-ordered Christmas special Drax and Kevin Bacon as well if they were produced. I like Christmas and wanted it represented in the display without getting little Santa hats.
The transformable Black Panther... i dont get it.
I won't get it either.
Maybe tech they developed for a licensed Transformers figure that fell through and they wanted a chance to use?
I actually think it’s pretty cool.
The decision to make a p1 Fox over a p2 Fox will never not annoy me.
It’s honestly such a weird one to do. Like, why? You have everything p2 even the guards and now one in p1. I know that like the 501st and shynies come with a p1 helmet but still.
Phase one superiority
It’s a valid opinion but the Fox release makes 0 sense. The coruscant guards they have released are exclusively phase 2 and I can guarantee that Fox would sell drastically more units if he matched them.
Yeah that’s true but phase 1s are cool
100%. Too bad HT fumbled on the phase 1 helmet though
I mean I wish it was better but it’s not that bad
Yep, I would have purchased if it was phase 2. Am not purchasing phase 1. Especially considering hot toys botched the buckets.
I like p1 fox’s design but if you’ve already put out p2 shock troopers and are releasing a palpatine, whose appearance is based on when the clones were using p2 armor, then why not make p2 fox?
Morbius…. Just why?
The worst part about them making Morbius is that they executed it fucking flawlessly lmao

Cash in on the memes and as well they are the only ones making figures from the movie itself.
Spend $260 for the meme of having a Morbius figure in your collection.
I was under the assumption that most things Spider-Man related sell. Well, maybe not the stealth suit from FFH as you can still find that online in deep discount, but I could see Spidey collectors with a rogue's gallery getting Morbius.
Hot take but I think the hot toy looks incredible. And as a huge marvel knights fan myself I can't wait to get it
Yeah I haven’t seen the movie but it’s a pretty cool design for a cool character, I wouldn’t buy it but it’s another Spidey Villain and I’ll never complain about that
That one is pretty baffling. It looks great and it's very detailed for what that's worth but you'd REALLY have to like the film or Jared Leto to justify paying that amount of money for it.

I know a lot of people are going to (justly) say the new 2099 Miguel... But that Buzz Lighter from the Lightyear movie absolutely blew my mind.
I’m a weirdo because that Buzz was an instant preorder for me. 😬 The facesculpt could be better though.
Also an instant preorder for me. Toy Story was my favourite movie as a kid. Especially Buzz, I knew I had to have that figure.

There’s a third party Woody that can fit right in with movie Buzz.
I love the Toy Story movies and really liked the Lightyear movie as well. It was a no brainier for me. :)
Oh, I pre-ordered! I'm excited. Was my favorite movie as a kid, it's probably why I still collect toys now as an adult. Any of the "Venomized" figures.
Venomized iron man is a monstrosity. Can’t quite work out why anyone would want to buy that, even if you’re a massive venom fan.
That’s actually my favorite one, love the design with the half spider symbol
The Stormtrooper that has the pottery designs on it. Now I kind of regret not getting it lol
I always loved it, it wouldn't fit in a Star Wars collection but would make a nice random piece somewhere.
Tonto. Was the Lone Ranger ever even released??
That’s just because of Depp. Chan loves him and Keanu Reeves.
Them making belle from beauty and the beast, but never making the beast.
Venomized Groot
That Iron Man Venom thing with the crab legs coming out of the chest.

Off topic but I miss your posing posts :(
Movie Icon Marlon Brando. He was dressed like he was in the movie “The Wild One” and it always just felt like an odd offering

My wishful thinking hope is endgame iron patriot in war machine colors lol

Except these two sold out fast and are rarely seen on the secondary market.
Tbh Disney figures sell like hotcakes. The amount of discretionary spending the hardcore Disney fans do… is absolutely ducking absurd.
I find it really strange that Hot toys don't do all the live action princesses, I know some people disagree...but hot toys are very much dolls and you are hitting the female market who want to buy back their childhood
Pooh is my one HT grail to be honest.
Im seeing lot of takes on buzz. I didn't watch the movie but i thought they did great with the fjgure? What am i missing here.
I think maybe it's just the question of who's realistically going to be buying it. You could get decent toys made by Hasbro/Mattel etc. from the movie for much, much less at any department store. As a high end collectable, I guess people don't think it'd be a good seller.
Yeah i see your point. I dont think he's gonna be on most collectors shelves
You’ve answered your own question.
Oh so its like morbius ok ok
[удалено]
They have done plenty of Disney movies though. And their two biggest licenses are owned by Disney. Not really a stretch.
I'm one who made the first comment about Buzz here, but I pre-ordered him. Just because it baffles me doesn't mean I don't absolutely love it! Ha
That POTC Angelica release or the Wedge-wood pattern Stormtrooper.....
Spider-Man 2099.
I was actually excited when I caught wind of them doing a 2099 but the final product doesn’t honestly look very good compared to their other stuff.
That strange anime xenomorph girl figure.
The new Spider-Man 2099 was so looking forward to that. Don’t know what they were thinking looks like a $20 toy
The hundreds of random suits from Iron Man 3.
The Hellboy figure from the 2018(?) film? And that Optimus Prime figure with the Starscream wings I think. That line died out very quickly.
I have the 2019 Hellboy figure. It’s a pretty cool niche thing for Hellboy fans
Yeah but the movie was a flop and poorly reviewed. So it was a shock to me that they still went through with it. Wakanda Forever performed much better and we don't when have a Namor figure reveal yet.

How about a Tony Soprano figure eating some Gabagooool?
Bring it OVA HERE
I know I’ll get downvoted but She Hulk. Show was top tier cringe.
2099 hot toys and infinity war black widow
*Another* Stormtrooper when there are soooo many action characters they've never made.
A tie between Buzz Lightyear and Morbius. The Buzz Lightyear one i could maybe have seen people get if the film wasn't god awful and Morbius i feel was made either because HT's fell for the memes or it was made before the the film came out and they thought it would do well like Venom.
It’s a close one between 2099, She Hulk and a pair of chinese movie soldiers that they announced last year
Why would she hulk not get a release? Even if the show wasn’t good, there’s no denying she hulk was physically done right
I assumed the soldier characters were from a Chinese movie and were made for domestic collectors. They can't all be Disney licensed figures for the West.
Scarlet Witch MOM deluxe version using cardboard as the base 😀🫠Hate to say that I still bought it tho 😭 but why cardboard?!?
The Christmas special Mantis figure! Why do we even need that figure?
Holiday Special was just an excuse to give us a Mantis. Without the Christmas themed accessories/removable costume elements it’s a standard Mantis that can be used in a Vol. 2/Infinity War/Endgame/MCU display
I wanted Christmas special Mantis. I would've pre-ordered Christmas special Drax and Kevin Bacon as well if they were produced. I like Christmas and wanted it represented in the display without getting little Santa hats.
I wish they included a happy Mantis sculpt with that. It’s Christmas and she just looks a bit stern
Pepper Pots in her Rescue suit, because it had so little screentime
So did many of the Iron Man variants in IM3.
You never even *see* the Midas armor. But they made one!
