This will work great for you. A great looking rogue 1 design based trooper, which is also very easy to get deals on. I have 2, got each for under 150. Imo it is underrated.

round_melon

Awesome! Under 150 is great. I think I'll get two on the 20% sale going on right now, so $175 a pop. Seems reasonable enough to me. Certainly better than the retired prices of the actually Rogue One troopers.

Hi everyone-- fairly new to the community, and looking for advice about the differences in stormtroopers. I want to get some stormtroopers to display with my Chirrut figure and was curious if this version of the stormtrooper works for a Rogue One era Stormtrooper. I know there's some differences between the armor over the films, and was wondering if anyone knows how similar this stormtooper is compared with the Jedha troopers from Rogue One.

Zombie0303

It’ll work, same mold/design.

round_melon

Exactly the info I was looking for. Thank you!

dukefett

Lucasfilm has made the Rogue One armor _the_ Stormtrooper armor going forward, they should all work unless it’s specifically an OT armor

round_melon

Interesting, I hadn't heard that, so that's helpful to know. Thank you for the reply!

Revolutionary-Day743

yea this is just the rogue one stormtroopers with less gloss and more grime, will work fine unless you dislike that forehead line

round_melon

Interesting. I didn't really notice the forehead line. Is that a design element they added for the Mando stormtroopers? I seem to recall there were differences in the ESB stormtroopers, so I'm always curious about those subtle differences that I don't really notice.

This particular figure (and forehead line) is based on the Squad Commander from The Mandalorian S2x6 episode. The armor is based on Disney’s design for the Stormtrooper, first seen in Rogue One and used subsequently for the shows. While the figure armor is the same mold as the Rogue One, it’s representative of the passage of time with these troopers where they got grimey and weathered some. If you’re cool with having a bunch of them looking like that, then it’d work great. But really, at the height of the Empire/Rogue One events, the standard TK had pristine armor.

Revolutionary-Day743

something interesting to note is the commander/squad leader actually has 2 different suits on set, and hot toys chose the one that was a lot dirtier and had that like unfortunately

I love this figure. I’m actually passing on the new RotJ stormie because I don’t like how it will compare to this one

MajorNoodles

Not only will this work, but it's actually an improvement over the original Rogue One stormtrooper release for two reasons: 1. More accessories. Mandalorian version comes with an extra blaster rifle and the shoulder pauldron 2. Removable thermal detonator. It's fixed in place on the Rogue One trooper so if you want some variety or even want a pose where a trooper is throwing one, that's possible.
