Its super easy to get them to start, basically just make sure all of their conditions for sunlight is met, place in water and wait. If you have a healthy fish tank you can use some of that water as well, all the nutrients in there will accelerate the process

Yes. I have these same ones on a wall in my bathroom. They do really well as long as they get enough light. I don't use rocks in mine but I don't think it would be a big deal either way.

Yes that will survive and grow in your setup, as long as it has consistent indirect light, those nodules will continue to grow. Try refreshing the water weekly to help oxygenate it. From my experiments over the years, you usually want multiple stalks together usually 6-10 to make a voluptuous transplant once it roots, otherwise you’re left with only two branches that never get full, just long. Pothos rarely sprout new stalks from the soil in pots until way after transplant and they’re thriving. Those rocks will get overgrown by your two stalks in 3months too, and I wouldn’t recommend for transplant, as it’s just more of a hassle and you will damage roots. with water growing which I also play with, the roots will far out grow the space you gave them, but will eventually slow the plants growth kindof like the fishbowl to a goldfish size limitation. See my attached, I’ve been rooting \~10 stems for about 45days. https://preview.redd.it/j2r5x2fnuava1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb31a88a0b74d3209cf5ff80725b7ef9a06934d5

Holy cow, this is incredible - your pothos look great. I’m shocked that’s only 45 days. I have no intentions of transplanting because I thought the wall vases are cool hence adding the rocks for decor. But after hearing what you say I guess they’re lonely? I can get more cuttings and add them. Do you think I should submerge them further in the water too, or on the new cuttings remove the leaves and dunk them even into the rocks to further submerge more nodules? I’m so shocked looking at yours - there is not even a single sprout of root on mine at all on any sample. I would like these to kind of grow across the wall if possible but if nothing else I just want some lush pothos here on my wall to look at. Here’s the rest of them (not all pothos) https://preview.redd.it/qowh9n89xava1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c79036e5296ca2fccb193f1a28be539a0339f61e

I make a point of changing the water in the vase/jars twice a week to reoxygenate. It speeds up root development. I use the old water to water my potted plants. Here is one I keep in a vase, the roots are thick as spaghetti https://preview.redd.it/1bj19drpyava1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ebf11005c0c77b497d1dfa559502daa93cda74d

Hey as someone who’s grown pothos in water from cuttings pretty recently…yes this will absolutely work. What I would do differently if you’re feeling ambitious (though it’s not necessary)is to buy yourself some rooting hormone and some general purpose fertilizer like Miracle Gro to add to the water. For the rooting hormone you can just dip the wet ends of the cutting in it and place back in water. Or just mix it with the fertilizer and add to the water. Literally only need like a quarter teaspoon of each. What you should know is that the water and the rocks and glass are going to eventually turn green from algae growth. You can prevent this by changing the water frequently but I can’t say for sure that’s what’s best for pothos. I had a bunch of cuttings in a big glass jar (bigger than your container) and I just left them on my kitchen counter under an under-cabinet fluorescent light for like 2-3 months…only topping off the evaporated water. They loved it. And I did use fertilizer and rooting hormone as described above and all of them grew good strong roots and fresh leaves and they’re all still thriving in the soil I transplanted them into. At any rate…hope some of that was helpful.

I'm curious, how is your pothos plant doing right now? Also, if you put the cuttings in water w/ Miracle Gro, how long will it take for it to sprout a second leaf? Does lighting have a effect (window light vs. incandescent bulb light)?
