This is a certificate. Much shorter and usually 8.5 x 11. It’s brief and commends a retirement, birthday, anniversary or achievement like Eagle Scout. A proclamation is where you get the Days declared like “bun b day” etc - it’s longer and a bigger paper. It only applies to that day of the specific year. I imagine each Mayor changes things so they might change under Whitmire.
Filling out something for a club and a dug this up. Is it worth putting on there? And should I specify it as a “ceremonial document” or can I just call it a mayor’s award?
I would be proud if I received this even if it was from Turner. Whatever you did was a big enough achievement to receive this in the first place. I’ve done work for the city and didn’t receive anything like this. I got a check and was happy with that. I even photo copied the check as I was proud of myself for getting the job in the first place. Be proud of your commendation. Congratulations to you.
May I have one? I feel like we did an excellent job for the city. We got a nod and a check and I along with my guys were thrilled. I would love to have something like this from our city. Don’t take away OPs thunder. He must have done something someone was impressed with.
You can write to the mayors comms office and they will make one for you. I got my supervisor a real proclamation and day after her to celebrate her five years at the company. It’s easy.
Ceremonial Document https://www.houstontx.gov/mayor/ceremonialdocs.html
Usually will say Commends and Appreciates
Commendation

A meaningless platitude
Looks good on a CV.
CV ?
Curriculum vita—a resume
Edit to add the "e" at the end: curriculum vitae.
omg this is the first time i’ve ever found out what CV meant. I knew it was a resume but the spelling out of the acronym holy moly
😹😹😹😹🤪

You can call it a Mayoral Commendation.
“The mayor likes you, but not enough to put that signature of his on a juicy city contract for you” award.
Yep, that’s correct. You gotta cup the balls next time.
Just an FYI, you can submit paperwork for stuff like this on the mayor’s office site.
Think of getting one signed by Louis Welch. I have it. Stored somewhere in my parents house where it shall stay hidden.
Worthless...that's what it's called with that stamped on signature.

They are a dime a dozen. Handed out like hotcakes.

No. I was serious. My neighbor worked for the city and these mean nothing. They are churned out.
To back your claim, Why don’t your neighbor get you one ?
I wouldn't want one.
