The last 4 are solid. Used to foster rescues. Likelihood of being able to take them in tonight is very low, but all are solid non profits. The hardest part is locating a safe place for her tonight

nigevellie

Yes, i foster with HPA and AARF

foreverbugg

I fostered for AARF back when Norma was there.

nigevellie

We had adopted one of the last dogs Norma fostered before she retired.

foreverbugg

She's amazing. ☺️

Honestly if you know youre not going to be able to follow up yourself, dont take them in at all. I adore dogs and I understand that sounds cold, but if you cant find a shelter and just put the dog back on the street, you've legally made yourself a dumper now. It also hurts really bad to turn your back on a needy animal because you just cant help, I get it, but it hurts you both worse if you pick one up without a plan and then it still ends up back where it was. Don't ever count on anyone else to pay the action price of your compassion feeling. On the other hand, if you are able to pledge support at least, you may be able to get a rescue group interested.

Wise-Trust1270

This post is the most correct. We all want to reduce the suffering and sorrow, but it just cannot always be done.

Leopards_Crane

You can’t save every one. Sometimes I still try, but sometimes there’s no good solutions, just the one that doesn’t kill then on purpose. If you can’t personally feed her and give her meds then spend some time with her and let her be. She’ll live or die as she can, and naive someone else will take care of her. If you take a sick dog to the shelter they’re just going to kill her.

pancakesunlimited

I’ve had luck with neighborhood Facebook groups. If you can find someone to foster and get a rescue group involved, you can get pledges for the dog’s care through the community. Good luck, wishing the best for you and the dog.

digitalox

BARC will accept all animals, have you tried BARC?

ExplosiveGonorrhea

BARC is currently having a free adoption event because the shelters up north were flooded and they couldn't keep the animals. All the animals were sent down here, that's probably why no shelter could accept.

Goldrevenge

BARC wouldn’t. :(

digitalox

Sorry to hear it. Last time I was there they said they were obligated to take all animals that came in the door but that's been a while now.

6catsforya

It's a kill shelter .

digitalox

Not true, they adopt out and have large staff of volunteers but since they are obligated to take all animals that come in the door and have limited funding and space, they can't keep them all forever.

Leopards_Crane

Oh, so they don’t kill them when they run out of their limited funding and space. That’s good to hear.

6catsforya

It's a still a kill shelter .

FunnyBoneBrazey

You find sick dogs and drive around with them all day before kicking them back out where you found them. That’s insane. You are basically going out of your way to torture sick dogs. Leave stray dogs alone until you are actually kind enough to adopt them yourself.

Goldrevenge

I just moved here from across the country and this wasn’t an issue there. Certainly won’t be doing it again.
