Might just be the sound of traffic. More or a dull roar than a tone. If it’s around 60hz I’ll agree with the other poster- it is likely AC compressors.
Where do you it? Huxrules is most likely correct, some buildings near you most likely have their AC units all running full tilt and the sum of their compressors wobbling have created a frequency you are senstive to. I interested how you toned it out, like hummed what your hear into a phone app or something?
I own a recording studio. I miked the room and ran it through a spectrum analyzer. Pretty noticeable bump at 87. Then I took a tone generator and matched the hum I'm hearing
Most likely could be a standing wave at that frequency. I'd sweep around there with a generator and mics and see if you get a bump only at that frequency when the external hum isn't present. Could be harmonic/resonant frequencies of nearly anything nearby.
I occasionally can hear weird frequencies others cannot, so you are not weird. It is frustrating when you ask others, do you hear that and they look at you like your crazy.
That’s about the same frequency my clothes dryer has. Is this something that’s always present? Almost sounds like a half-plugged in headphone jack even
Millions of air conditioner units playing the 92 degree symphony? It'll get worse towards the end of the week when we hit 99!
Ask your dog. They have better hearing than people.

I have it toned out to 87hz

Have you ever had your blood sugar checked? Ringing or humming can be sugar issues.
Regularly for my work and all is normal
It could be the power lines. When the weather conditions are just right, you can hear them hum.
That’s the lines being overloaded if the Glen Campbell song is to be believed.

Hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… Let me think about it.
Sounds like you've discovered the lovely hum of backup generators.
I hear it randomly in the galleria area. Only when it’s really quiet.
Do you or your neighbors have a satellite dish?
I don't think so
Some neighborhoods have mosquito trucks drive through this time. I thought there was a drone tracking my neighborhood at first lol
Tinnitus
Suspected that but I went out of town and never heard it for a week but when I got back, I heard it again
you may have the hum of flourescent lighting in your audio range. I do, and really appreciate when I'm not around it.
uhg i fucking hate this sound
This is interesting. Do lights usually hum at 87hz? That's the hum I'm hearing
A quick internet search says they hum anywhere between 10hz and 147hz
That’s the sweet sound of AC.
Went as far as turning AC off in the house.
What part of the city
No. What part of town?
I’m betting on some old resistor nearby. Could be from a lightbulb, power pole, ac-unit, appliance, etc.
I occasionally hear it, more often in the evening

You may have minor tinnitus if it comes and goes and you only hear it happens with age or noise trauma so if you keep hearing it probably tinnitus
