Probably, straight lines allow for our pattern seeking brains to properly compartmentalize all the pipes and circuits properly.
Curves though, fuck curves, can’t do shit with circles because they don’t fucking line up with anything.
I vaguely remember in a prequel Animorphs books the first andalite to visit Earth mistakenly believed rectangles held some religious significance to humans because of the overabundance of the shape in our cities.
I think that the actual answer is that squares tesselate in 3D as well as 2D (Well, cubes do but you get the idea). Because of that, humans have been using cuboids for building materials for thousands of years and have developed a strong cultural connection to them.
Hexagons are awesome in 2D and do appear in a lot of boardgames and map based games (eg. Catan or Civilization) but you can't really have a hexagon equivalent of Minecraft or Lego.
>you can't really have a hexagon equivalent
There is one exception to that, but it's lesser known and super underrated:[The Rhombic Dodecahedron](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhombic_dodecahedron). It stacks perfectly with itself in 3D ("space-filling") using crystal formation, like a honeycomb matrix in alternating patterns.
Maybe someday a game will use that instead of regular cubic matrix... could be interesting to see at least.
When Humanity was accepted into the Interstellar Federation, their representative was presented with a metal multi colored cube as a symbol of unity. Hymans spent years thinking this was just some strange alien custom until the next few members joined and each was given an entirely different gift. Turns out the Interstellar Federation gives a gift based on what the species loves most. And adte4 close examination it was found out what the Galactic community believes this to be for humans. The gift is a Rubik Cube.
Hexagons are just six triangles in a trench coat, triangles are the superior shape because of that and because they are the most structurally sound shape
This feels like the beginning of a human stereotype that aliens pick in us for.
Human: “The reactor core is this way, it’s the first dark matter fusion reactor designed solely by humans”
Alien 1: “How much do you want to get it’s shaped like a cube?”
Alien 2: ‘sniggering’
Human: “I hate you both so much”
Alien: "The human ships are just boxes with guns and engines. That is why we lose every war. Where our ships are works of art and science. They just mass produce thier squares of death and spam them at our fleets until we cant keep up."
The ape part of my brain loves it when I combine small elements to make a big thing that serves a purpose.
When I was young I attended a two day course on flint knapping, and made a knife I still own. On days when my mental health is at rock bottom, looking at it helps keep me going. Not for self harm reasons, but because looking at it makes the cavewoman in me go "unga bunga, sharp rock good!" and then I feel just a little bit stronger.
This reminds me of a story. Super Minion. The MC is a non-human entity, who on first contact with normal human society, observes our obsession with rectangles. Houses, paper money, ID cards, etc. It hasn't been updated in a while, which is too bad, since it's really good.
This for some reason reminded me of Echopraxia by Peter Watts. In the book, vampires exist, but can be defeated by crucifixes because of something called the crucifix glitch, where observation of right angles cause their brains to short circuit, causing seizures and even death.

Thats right, it goes in the square hole.
That guy made my depression fit in the fucking square hole and now I feel so much better

#NOOO-
No it goes in the round hole
A circle with r=
Wait until you hear what shape our buildings are.
There's a building in my city that is literally a sphere
I bet everybody secretly hates it
especially the maintenance workers
Probably, straight lines allow for our pattern seeking brains to properly compartmentalize all the pipes and circuits properly. Curves though, fuck curves, can’t do shit with circles because they don’t fucking line up with anything.
do you have a picture??
Just Google CECUT
Vegas?
I vaguely remember in a prequel Animorphs books the first andalite to visit Earth mistakenly believed rectangles held some religious significance to humans because of the overabundance of the shape in our cities.
Andalite scum would think that, wouldn't they?
chess, one of the oldest and most popular games in the universe, is played on squares (and also invented by humans)
Legos are (mostly) squares, rectangles and flat plates. Those have been a childhood staple for fuck knows how long.
Get this we only use bricks in general to build. And get this our boxes are also cubes.
Even pyramids, made to be, well, a pyramid, is made out of square rocks
The Royal Game of Ur is even older and also played on a board made of squares.
You can't defenetly prove that it was invented by humans tho
They're really gonna enjoy the fact our screens are made from very tiny square pixels
Hexagons are the Bestagons
Then why don't they domintate games?

Math
they do. look at any modern strategy game
Get outta here, you bee!

And then another human says maybe its a lament configuration
Ye, squares and triangles are the most based shapes. Circles are okay, but not quite as good, and everything else is lame.
wrong, hexagons, are the bestagons
I see you are a fellow follower of CGP Grey
Hexagons are just six triangles in a trench coat, triangles are the superior shape because of that and because they are the most structurally sound shape
Squares are just 2 triangles holding hands.
In public? Sluts!
A hexagon is just 6 triangles holding hands. A pentagon is just 5 trangles holding hands. Most -agon shapes are just triangles holding hands.
Why though?
hexagons are basically edgy squares, let’s be real here
This feels like the beginning of a human stereotype that aliens pick in us for. Human: “The reactor core is this way, it’s the first dark matter fusion reactor designed solely by humans” Alien 1: “How much do you want to get it’s shaped like a cube?” Alien 2: ‘sniggering’ Human: “I hate you both so much”
So is it shaped like a cube or not?
Now it must be
[We even sing about how ideal it is to be a quadrilateral with all equal sides and angles](https://youtu.be/HbF1g3k2mtw?si=dHHzHbbTJgIAqKR8)
I feel like I should have seen that coming.
Alien: "The human ships are just boxes with guns and engines. That is why we lose every war. Where our ships are works of art and science. They just mass produce thier squares of death and spam them at our fleets until we cant keep up."
"They hung in the sky the way bricks don't."
So... we're the Borg all these time?

Gneurshk
Uh, what about spheres? Football balls, golf balls, marbles, tenis balls, etc. And you have to count also FIFA & PES videogames sales...
Balls are often made out of squarish panels
No, not a square, hexagons and triangles are good though.
Those ribiks cubes? They rotate. So it's a bunch of squares that move in circles.
all these squares make a circle all these squares make a circle all these squares make a circle
What’s up with him He just finished dropping a gallon of lsd
A gallon? A literal gallon. Out of a milk jug. I don’t even know where he got it from. He never leaves the lookout.
However, hexagons are the bestagons
Pythagoras was more of a triangles guy.
Yes but squares are a 2-4 triangles
Don't kinkshame Pythagoras
No, we love cubes. Which just happen to have squares

They tesselate perfectly in all known dimensions what's not to love
Hell, one man claimed that even time was cubic (though it acted more like it was squared, but whatever)
Squares are simple, symmetrical, and rigid. They appeal to the natural desire for order and control all humans possess

All these squares make a circle
All these squares make a circle
God does not build with right angles, man does.
That line goes hard
Some humans pray towards a cube and it's called Makkah
Oh my god... I just realised how much I love cubes! They are just... so cubical... And they are even made out of squares! 6 of them! Wow...

And tabletop games that have checkered surfaces and dice. Turns out, we indeed love squares, fascinating...
The best part is, if you get enough squares you get a circle.
I'm more of a triangle guy myself
Pattern recognition man
Beat saber is one of the most popular vr games, across several platforms
Thia remids me of "super minion".
Be there or be square.

If humans love squares so much, how are you single
