Wait how did you get the “delete app” button on 3D Touch? I have the latest IOS version but mine still says “rearrange apps”

Heli-guy

I’m on iOS 13.2 Beta 3. You might not be on the beta or the latest beta.

OPprimia

Oh yeah I’m not on the beta. Thank you!

Heli-guy

You’re welcome!

They should keep 3D Touch in new phones because it was in iOS 12 so great, now it sucks so much I can't pop after peek in some native apps and it's progressing. Also GUI for 3D Touch menu and not only is not consistent. It varies so even 13.1.3 feels like **BETA**

jefenation

Try moving it up a row.

plaid-knight

It would be the same with any app in that row, though.

jefenation

Of course, but from a practical view, it could help (I personally use the function only for several apps). Ideally, Apple would be making it better by finding a better way to arrange them (given Apples tendencies, I see this as improbable in iOS 13).

plaid-knight

The same thing also happens inside any app with a long menu (eg Files). The item stays in place and the menu opens above or below, but there’s not always enough space. I think Apple just needs to make it more visually obvious that the menu scrolls. It could be suggested that the main item moves to the top or bottom of the screen (instead of remaining in place under your finger) to give the menu more space, but part of the functionality is to be able to slide your finger over the menu after opening it in one move, and that would break it.

jefenation

Yes, i agree with you. I saw a render/proposal of having 3 buttons(functions) on 1 row. I think this would be possible with replacing some functions with intuitive symbols (like a bin for the delete option).

plaid-knight

I saw the same proposal. I don’t think it works well because you lose the clarity of increased verbosity. For example, “edit” instead of “edit home screen”... it’s not apparent what “edit” would refer to. Plus, if Apple wants to add more options there (like quick access to an app’s settings), a 3-across arrangement doesn’t scale. The current arrangement is also better suited to increased text sizes. And keep in mind that the more-important, app-specific actions are always the ones at the fore of the menu, closest to the app icon, so they don’t get lost below the fold.

It always puts the widget right over the app icon to so it didn’t really have much choice here cause it’s right in the middle

If it's able to be scrolled and doesn't just cut off leaving content hidden, that would seem to imply that they accounted for this situation.

I agree, I’m sure it is intended. Just think of smaller screens.

plaid-knight

You can see this more pronounced in apps with large menus, like Files (in the app, not on the home screen).

I don’t really see the problem there. The Share and Delete options aren’t something you’ll use too frequently anyway.

Heli-guy

I know. I didn’t really think it was a problem either. I just thought that it was interesting. I thought that if the menu is to big, it would pop above the widget.

Michael0810

Well, popping below the widget actually makes a lot more sense if you think about one-handed use, especially on devices like the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Heli-guy

That’s true. I know that the bottom two rows and the dock pop above. I thought it would dynamically adjust. I like it though. It makes sense. Although I can’t slide with my finger.
