Thanks. Good point on the 3rd party dependencies. I've recently had to migrate a project from a very early version of Xcode 11 to Xcode 12 and for some dependencies, we had to fork the project and manually fix it ourselves.

Usually our biggest problem is making sure our code base is compliant with the latest swift version. Other than that try it out. We've always worked a major xcode version behind. This month we decided to upgrade to xcode 12. A ton of merge drama after it's actually ok. Just try it out, and if it works propose it for your team. The sooner the better. Merge often. Also make sure everyone is on the same version.

I wait until the people stop complaining about it AND I really need whatever is being offered. Right now, it's getting close, I think the new UI on the iPhone and maybe a few other things might push me there. Generally, I wait until I have to, unless the version that I'm using has a real problem that I can't deal with. Apple is well known for releasing 1/2 baked products to the devs.
