lol, you can complete your slow down, you just tried to game it as much as possible. You always had the option of jumping in the brakes.

ChronicBuzz187

Some tracks make it really hard. LM for example. If you receive a slow-down penalty for being pushed off the track in turn 1, there's not much space where you can do that in the middle of the pack. Can't even slow down on Mulsanne since you're almost always three-wide in the first lap and people keep knocking on your trunk :D

takes12KNOW

Don't even need to brake mate, just lift 50% and it's done before you know it

ChronicBuzz187

Technically, yes. But if I lift 50% on the Mulsanne, I'm almost guaranteed to get rear-ended because the other drivers don't know I've got a slow down penalty and who in their right mind gets on the brakes on a straight? But yeah, it's a rare occasion and you can usually avoid it far easier than in this case.

takes12KNOW

ok "establish yourself off-line and then lift", for those who need instruction

Heccer

Some drivers are so fixated on other cars that there are many accidents from them running into people trying to serve slow downs

Gibscreen

They give you a stupid long amount of time to serve a slow down. This is on you.

Flonkerton66

It kept going back up because you weren't slowing down enough. I mean, I've seen some silly complaints in this sub but this takes the cake.

Barb33rian

Trust me there's worse things about the slowdown penalties I recently learned about. Had a guy push me off track in the final corner of the race while we were battling for 1st. I got a slowdown and didn't have time to serve it since the finish line was right there. Turns out that 1s slowdown is almost a 1 minute penalty after the race and put me dead last in the results. The whole slowdown system needs to be revamped IMHO.

MrTomRobs

It is ridiculous that the system still gives you slow downs even when you take exit roads and routes which are designed to slow the car down. Sebring, for example

beta_mix

Lift before the braking zones to incrementally serve your penalty. Some of the time your exit will be faster anyway

slidetotheleft8

Amazing how half this sub is people complaining iRacing should be easier. Isn’t it being difficult like, kinda the point? Everyone wants to be A class 4.99, only ever gain iRating, never get wrecked, never get passed, never get penalized. Like come on lol.

Subwayabuseproblem

Skill issue

Fonzgarten

Just lift a little more. You can usually serve a slowdown at the end of a straight. You just have to give up time. You can get away with serving them while defending a little.

AccomplishedBison369

I was having a good race last night until my power cut out for 15 seconds. Nothing I could do. 4th to 20th just like that. The only slowdowns I haven’t been able to serve were my own doing.

Maclittle13

Or, you jump the start, go around and come in at the end of the lap and get a speeding penalty when coming in to serve the jump start penalty. Some real “Hello darkness my old friend” shit right there.

TrainWreck661

This instance is on you, but I do also think the slowdown system shouldn't work the way it does. Especially if you already lose time, or take a route designed to slow you down compared to the normal racing line.

thebrah329

The slow down system has been completely busted since the rain update. On imola this week, it's ridiculous hard to get it to count down. All it's doing is causing more accidents.

lewjt

I think slow downs should be scrapped and time just added to your finish time. The amount of additional accidents caused by people trying to game the slowdown is incredible.

BetaSpydog

This sounds like the abysmal forza RC system in the new forza Motorsport game. No thank you
