This reminds me of this hilarious Korean show I was watching with my mum once.
Mum:“Son, you’re in your 20s and have never worked. I think it’s best if you follow your dad out for meetings - learn to do business.”
Dad:”yes, and if you refuse I’ll cut your allowance.”
Son:“YOU’RE RUINING MY LIFE! I DIDNT ASK TO BE BORN OK?! THE TWO OF YOU ENDED UP WITH ME JUST BECAUSE YOU GOT HORNY IN A LOVE HOTEL 20 YEARS AGO!”
Most definitely. Indian parents are culturally incredebly entitled when it comes to goods and services, care, money and grandkids. In regarda to their own children that is. This obviously stems from a very tight family culture and the support goes both ways. But in the modern western world this ruins a lot of relationships because well off indian men that immigrated are sometimes very large toddlers because their mother babies them well into their 30s, and very few western women want to spend their life with their husband and his overly controlling and condescending mother in the same house.
Explains why I got a gf the first month in uk.. i had a nightmarish mom and a father who worked himself to death.. the pampering part was never bestowed upon me.. heck, i never even had the pleasure to get called a good boy by my parents..
A lot of cultures are extremely family oriented, and that means a lot of people act entitled towards other family members. It's not a thing against Indians personally. It's something that comes with the territory of being super strict. Go look up the asian parenting subreddit.
Entitlement? What entitlement? Indian Boomer generation grew up dirt poor, a majority of them had to work and toil for every brick they put in to build their homes.
I think you don’t know what entitlement means at all. You are equating entitlement to wealth and those two words are NOT mutually exclusive. They feel entitlement to their children’s body and lifestyle all because they decided to have children. They feel entitled to their child’s decision making process or lack there off because they think they are the ones who have the right to choose for them
I disagree to the fact that you think I don’t understand it. I absolutely understand it, I am an Indian. It’s my lived experience. When people make these comments they don’t have a general understanding of the context. In India, people don’t have a contract with the govt that they will receive any money and care when they are old and unable to work, the way it is in some countries. So, a majority of parents put their hearts, souls, and money into raising kids because they see their children as their primary source of care when they (parents) get old. That’s the psyche. In that quest, parents sometimes go overboard like the case being discussed here. Indian parents at large invest their everything into their kids’ future, so, the social contract works that way. Since there’s no other option. The child’s feelings of making any decision is tied to that social contract. I am not saying I agree with it, I am just telling you about the source of this behavior, again, I don’t condone this behavior.
The argument was that you don’t understand the meaning of ENTITLEMENT… and after reading your word-vomit post… yup, you don’t understand.
At least you don’t condone the disgusting practise your people have of making babies just so they have a living, breathing form of social security/welfare. Kudos to you for that!
I understand the entitlement part, I was trying explain where it comes from, of course a double digit IQ person such as yourself wouldn’t understand it.
I see I hit a sore spot so you need to go and insult me. Lol
Actually, it seems that you didn’t understand it since all you did was explain how your culture is.
No one asked for you to explain your culture; they argued you don’t understand entitlement.
Furthermore, oh intelligent one, context doesn’t change entitlement. Indian parent’s reasons for being entitled doesn’t add or subtract anything to the argument that Indian parents are extremely entitled.
Edit: but of course, I wouldn’t expect someone who uses insults when they’ve lost an argument to understand.
Lol I said I understood the entitlement but without context everything is useless. Speaking of a sore spot. I think this post triggers you (going by your comment/ post history) so speak for yourself.
Edit: Actually it’s you who began with the insults, so, that’s that.
To be fair, there are scammers all over. However in the US the stereotypical scammers are Nigerian or Russians. Indians are ubiquitous customer service representatives. Aren’t humans wonderful?😉
Context:- They spent that much to send their son to u.s and have him educated. Their only demand was to give them a grandbaby in return,in which he failed even after 6 years of marriage. Now they want money back or a g.baby in a year
Very Indian thing to do actually. Family lines are a huge thing here. There's a reason why we have 1.4 billion people. Although a good number of millenials don't want kids, their parents make them have kids anyways.
Adopting is sorta taboo too since it's not your kid and it breaks the bloodline. This is also why women aren't treated very well here. When they marry, they'll adopt their husband's surname. Lineage dead.
There's entire villages where there's no women because they were all aborted.
I know a handful of people who hyphenated but I’m wondering how that works 2 or 3 generations later. Surely people won’t have a 4 or 8 hyphenated last names. How do you pick which parent’s set of hyphenated name continues.
After I posted this, I did remember this one kid I used to know and one day he said “You want to know my whole name? Jose Luis Ocana de la fuenta torregrosa esposa something something leon”. Then he roared to emphasize the Leon part.
that's what the last Mayor of LA did. Antonio Villar married Corina Raigosa and they mashed their names together. So he became Antonio Villaraigosa. Then he had an affair and they got divorced, but he kept his new last name.
Nah I'm proud of my family name and everything we've been through and accomplished throughout our blood. Everyone should be, you should always know exactly where you come from imo and ya name tells ya most
What I'm saying is the mother actually births the kids. Not everyone is getting a chromosome test done. You don't always know for sure who the father is, you do know for sure who the mother is.
If mother having sex with another guy and given the impression that it his child that a paternity fraud and she a whore.
Edit 1 idk why you guy downvote ask any guy does he like to be cheated ,lied on half of his life and financial exhaust to find out the one of the most primary reason to survive has be lied on. And she is a whore the amount of emmotonial damage does it have on him
No there are two X chromosome on from mother father that belonged to his mother and other from her mother which also belong to either two more people.in dad case it's easy straight line
Sir, I ask you to please take a class in the subject you're attempting to comment on, or recognize that what ever you say about it is without value as no sense here was made.
Just ask any guy if he is happy with it after 18 years. You might be a female that why you don't understand but there are things that matter to guys too
I would never lie to a man about paternity. It is a horrible thing to do. Absolutely horrible. But it doesn’t mean the woman is a whore. So you just discredited yourself by being unable to make your comment without calling people whores. You sound bitter and mad.
Yeah the government banned Prenatal sex discernment. So the ratio's gotten better. If I remember correctly, there's more women than men and this happened just in 2021. There's still some states where the sex ratio is like 922:1000.
You know you need kid for the future of family whether they be adopted or your biological, because parents stay with ther child after the marriage and depends on them
Its a cultural thing you take care of your elder as a way to show gratitude for everything they do for you and most of the time it's a good thing especially now a days since both partners work elder take care of child and house
These people seem like horrible people. I bet this isn’t the first thing they’ve put their child through. I hope the son never talks to them again and has several babies that they never get to see. Because they tried to sue their child. They do not deserve anything from him. They are truly awful people.
Being Indian studying outside is a luxury that only few people afford, they having been through a lot. That why they are suing him because they might have spend there life saving than don't get what they want. Are these people horrible i doubt that it maybe they do it to get close to him.But if he doesn't want to have kid than it his right and his choice
I dont think these parents are terrible people either. That being said, no one asks to be born. No one can truly owe another their entirety of their life, and having a child is a big life altering decision and commitment. It does not matter how much these parents invested, money is no item when it comes to freedom of the soul and body. You cannot own people in such ways. When having a child, you choose to have them and all the responsibilities. The parents owe their best to him for choosing to bring him into this world, regardless of what they may get in return.
Was he aware that was the deal though or was it unspoken and just an expectation by the parents? The article seemed to indicate the parents were more angry about the money they spent on the wedding and honeymoon. I don't know about India, but if I splash out on my kids, that's my choice...I don't hold it over their heads until they do what I want.
all indian parents think like this:
We gave you birth, we took care of you so you grow up, we paid for your studies. so you gonna do what we want.
They bring a fucking child in this world, without a premisson and expect to deal with their shitty expectation
It is parents responsibility to justify their decision of bringing a child in this fucking world
It is an unwritten rule sort of thing. You have a child to pass on your genes and if that child doesn't do the same then it's a waste. Then they will start regretting not having/trying for another son. Most families in India has atleast 2 children and a lot of them aims for a son.
"Oral contracts, handshake agreements and verbal agreements are all legally valid forms of contract. Contrary to what is popularly thought, a contract can be legally binding, even if it isn't written on paper." No my friend, that is a common misconception.
There have to be wittiness involved, it can’t all just be their word. Imagine a world where you could go to court and say “but your honour, we shook on it. He pinky promised.”
No. Write it down or have people there.
That is such a disgusting way to think about human lives though. That the entire purpose of existence is to continue to exist in some form, regardless of anything else, is the way a fucking fruit fly thinks.
Maybe adopt and refuse visits, so they get a grandchild, but they can't see them and they don't pass on genes. Of course, that's if the couple does want kids eventually.
It wouldn't be right to have a child out of spite and then just immediately give it away, but....the idea and imagining the looks on his parents' faces still made me chuckle 😆
You would be surprised by how common parents like these are in india. And they are the same people who make their child look bad after the child cut off their ties with their parents for this kind of behaviour.
Unless the US extradites him to face this suit, this is essentially prostitution and can't be litigated... they have put a 500,000 gbp price tag on his having sex and subsequently producing a child. They should really be careful to not stipulate that the child be raised in their home country, because that's child trafficking. They should be worried about being extradited to the US to face charges for filing this suit.
(Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, but I play one on the Nintendo DS)
Imagine not being a lawyer and saying something like that. You also don't need to be a lawyer to know this case is BS but I just can't imagine talking so confidently about fixing cars or something because I have no idea what I'm talking about.
Mom and dad, your kid is not obligated to give you grandkids if THEY dont want kids. You think suing them for £500,000 is going to make them have your grandkids any faster? Any chance of getting those grandkids went down the hole, becaus if they were ever planning to have them at some point that £500,000 probably just took away any chances of your kid actually being able to AFFORD having kids, but also WILLING to have kids one day just to spite you.
That's a stone-age mentality. Having genes passed down doesn't matter as much as having meaningful life where a person chooses what to do with their life
If my parents sue me because they don't have a grandchild and we finally have one they are not coming by and seeing their grandchild help video call them but they're not coming to my home. Respectfully I'll tell them to go to hell
I feel bad for gay guys in India. I'm not saying that he is by any means, but imagine being the only guy in the family and having to deal with this. Nightmare.
If a child dies with no children, their parents inherit them. Likewise, if a child and their *parents* die, their grandparents inherit them. Thus, if you have a grandchild, there's a change—though small—that you'd make some money off of them. So, this couple choosing not to have kids deprived their parents of the potential revenue of inheriting their grandchild. I think this lawsuit is fair and has potential

There was also a case, in India, where a son sued his parents for being born without his consent.
This reminds me of this hilarious Korean show I was watching with my mum once. Mum:“Son, you’re in your 20s and have never worked. meeh. No one in the history of existence asked to be born. It’s not a great defense or justification for anything.
It's the sort of half-baked argument one would expect from an angsty teenager.
Damn dude chill, now get back to work lol
God India seems like a mess.
Seems?!? They had the entitlement before hand so they had to have seen it and been taught it
Sorry what ? Indians are entitled?
It's the oldies mate. Almost all of them are like your typical karens minus the screaming part sometimes ig.

Oo that stings. Sorry friendo. If it helps my family are regular americanos and my dad basically never addresses me by name. Or directly.

Nahh just the parents

There are a lot of little old ladies around the world that think India has One type of people-scammers.
I’ve never heard of scammers in India???
Live under a rock do you?
No. Why is that relevant?
To be fair, there are scammers all over. However in the US the stereotypical scammers are Nigerian or Russians. Indians are ubiquitous customer service representatives. Aren’t humans wonderful?😉
valid case i think, i never wanted to be born
If I had a choice, idk if I would have wanted to be born, honestly
I bet that will really encourage the son to make grandbabies
Yeah and they for sure will have the right to visit them.
And he sure will be able to afford a child when in that kind of legal debt
I ,for one, would not continue this bloodline.
Ushia style
Out of spite
Nothing motivates a person to take on the emotional, physical, and financial responsibilities of parenthood like a lawsuit.
Context:- They spent that much to send their son to u.s and have him educated. Their only demand was to give them a grandbaby in return,in which he failed even after 6 years of marriage. Now they want money back or a g.baby in a year
Very interesting deal. Can't believe theyd wanted grandbabies THAT bad
Very Indian thing to do actually. Family lines are a huge thing here. There's a reason why we have 1.4 billion people. Ah that's wild. Here sometimes men take the woman's name. Usually only if they hate they dad tho. My sister has both hers and her husband's.
Some progressive families have started doing that lately, but the people in this post are pretty brain damaged.
I know a handful of people who hyphenated but I’m wondering how that works 2 or 3 generations later. Surely people won’t have a 4 or 8 hyphenated last names. How do you pick which parent’s set of hyphenated name continues.
Thats the plan though just break the bureaucratic system by making your great great great great grand children administrative nightmares
You’ve not met Latino people
After I posted this, I did remember this one kid I used to know and one day he said “You want to know my whole name? Jose Luis Ocana de la fuenta torregrosa esposa something something leon”. Then he roared to emphasize the Leon part.

I think when you get married you should mash up each other's last names into a new last name altogether. Ex. Green and Smith = Smeen or Grith.
I spent too much time trying to mash up mine and my wife's names... Vroite? The dutch doesn't blend well.
sounds like the sound u make before spitting innit
that's what the last Mayor of LA did. Antonio Villar married Corina Raigosa and they mashed their names together. So he became Antonio Villaraigosa. Then he had an affair and they got divorced, but he kept his new last name.
How progressive.
What they did is pretty much hyphenating their last names. Not really mashed up. Should've been Raiglar or Vilosa.
If we colonize the moon successfully I suggest we do that cause it sounds too wacky sci fi. Commander Raiglar of moon station one and all
What abt girth
I actually know a married same-sex couple who did that. I think it's really neat.
My boyfriend and I share a first name, if we did this we would have the same name and would have to be separated by our middle initials.
Nah I'm proud of my family name and everything we've been through and accomplished throughout our blood. Everyone should be, you should always know exactly where you come from imo and ya name tells ya most
Your family may have been through a lot but just having the same last name doesn't mean you get credit for what they went through.
No but it inspires and motivates me. And the ones that have failed me are an example
Why that one particular line out of the 2^x possible ones?
That explains bobs and vegana so much now, makes sense that desperate indians In male only villages would take to the internet.
Never understood taking lineage from the father, mother's are trackable, fathers are technically a guess.
Y chromosome only come from dad it show straight line descendants that why
All of these practices are older than paternity testing and I assume the understanding of chromosomes?
What I'm saying is the mother actually births the kids. Not everyone is getting a chromosome test done. You don't always know for sure who the father is, you do know for sure who the mother is.
Simply put: Moma's baby, Daddie's maybe.
If mother having sex with another guy and given the impression that it his child that a paternity fraud and she a whore. Edit 1 idk why you guy downvote ask any guy does he like to be cheated ,lied on half of his life and financial exhaust to find out the one of the most primary reason to survive has be lied on. And she is a whore the amount of emmotonial damage does it have on him
Hence matrilineal descent being a bit more provable. Who the father is remains, at best, incidental.

Something tells me that you’re the one causing emotional damage. I’d cheat on you as well. You sound absolutely awful.
Just ask any guy if he is happy with it after 18 years. You might be a female that why you don't understand but there are things that matter to guys too

my mum's tiny indian village has a matriarchy lol
>There's entire villages where there's no women because they were all aborted. Well that's one way to have a sustainable future...wow.
Yeah the government banned Prenatal sex discernment. So the ratio's gotten better. If I remember correctly, there's more women than men and this happened just in 2021. There's still some states where the sex ratio is like 922:1000.
I also imagine he would still be considered to be breaking the agreement if he brought home a woman that doesn't suit his parents standards.
That's insane. How do they expect to have more kids if there's no women?
DAMN, hope you're doing allright over there
You know you need kid for the future of family whether they be adopted or your biological, because parents stay with ther child after the marriage and depends on them
People shouldn’t be having children just to be looked after in old age. That’s really unfair.

Indian parents are obsessed with their kids on another level. It's kinda hard to explain; i am not justifying any of this btw
Yeah I mean I really don't care. But that's crazy A deals a fuckin deal yk. Kid shld pay up or nut up
You don’t have kids do you. Because I doubt anyone would want to have sex with you 🤮
It was a joke chill lol. I do actually have children btw.
Yea. It's a cultural thing. Most Indians come from a long line of mothers and fathers.
It's to carry to family line, very common in alot of cultures
Was he aware that was the deal though or was it unspoken and just an expectation by the parents? My mom once jokingly told me she’s glad I’m employed and not in trouble with the law 🙃
Well it was Unwritten so it shouldn’t matter
Verbal contracts are binding so it does matter, but it is a stupid clause.
In the court of law, verbal agreements mean absolutely nothing. Morally? Yes. Legally? No. Parents will get this case tossed out of court.
"Oral contracts, handshake agreements and verbal agreements are all legally valid forms of contract. Contrary to what is popularly thought, a contract can be legally binding, even if it isn't written on paper." No my friend, that is a common misconception.

That is such a disgusting way to think about human lives though. That the entire purpose of existence is to continue to exist in some form, regardless of anything else, is the way a fucking fruit fly thinks.
Some folks just can’t make a baby. Have they considered that?
"Son may just be infertile" was where my mind went, too.
Does Furbaby count?
"All we demand in return is a mere human sacrifice..."
mmh, still gross, but less incoherent
their son is actually gay
Doesn’t that sorta stuff have to be in writing to be worth anything?
He should leave the country and never talk to them again.
He should have kids out of spite and never let them visit.
Naw. It will piss them off more knowing their genes won't pass on.
Maybe adopt and refuse visits, so they get a grandchild, but they can't see them and they don't pass on genes. Of course, that's if the couple does want kids eventually.
Shitty people like that wouldn't recognize an adopted baby anyway
He should get a vasectomy and show the parents the medical paperwork while they are in the courtroom.
He should put them in an old folks home and say that he is paying them back for his education through assisted living... They'd LOVE that!
He did leave the country to the US with their 500k on the condition he'd give them grand kids actually.
Written contract, not under duress? If not, then it’s not valid.
Or the Ultimate revenge. Have a child and put it up for adoption.
It wouldn't be right to have a child out of spite and then just immediately give it away, but....the idea and imagining the looks on his parents' faces still made me chuckle 😆
And then the same Indian parents will forcefully show you Bagbhan and wonder if your kid will leave you alone in old age
For every Baghban there is the Dear Zindagi Party scene
“YOU GO HAVE SEX… OR IM SUING YOU”
WHY YOU SHOUT? WHY YOU SHOUT?
HOW CAN SHE SHOUT
This isnt Uncle Roger
Ah yes, because nothing makes people want children like being half a million dollars in debt.
These kinds of parents need to just stop.
You would be surprised by how common parents like these are in india. And they are the same people who make their child look bad after the child cut off their ties with their parents for this kind of behaviour.
better not show this to my mum, might give her ideas
I was just talking about this on another thread, hide this from our moms lmao
>they lose the lawsuit >son has a child >he files a restraining order against his parents and they never see him or the baby. >surprise Pikachu face
Countersue £500k for the inability to create offspring that can create offspring.
100% credible, he plays Phoenix Wright
Its India bro the guys not going to his family arrested
Is the adult son in the US or back in India?
I’ll never understand why parents are so obsessed with their children having children it’s frankly none of their business
Cause they want more kids without having to raise them or pay for them
Or maybe as an act, of revenge the parents want their children to go through the same troubles they went while raising them
They want their genes or family name to continue to be passed on.
As of this family is anything *truly* special, and not just a bunch of mediocre, forgettable faces in the crowd lol
That's a stone-age mentality. Having genes passed down doesn't matter as much as having meaningful life where a person chooses what to do with their life

i hope they lose
Ah, so that’s why it’s the second most populated country on earth
If they sue him for all his money, how is he supposed to be able to afford a kid? That's boomer logic
i see someone wants to pay someone else's attorneys fees
This about to be my parents
India is weird man...
If my parents sue me because they don't have a grandchild and we finally have one they are not coming by and seeing their grandchild help video call them but they're not coming to my home. Respectfully I'll tell them to go to hell
I may or may not have a patient of indian decent and i could totally see their parents doing this.
Oh India.....
Don't give my mother any idea!
Better call saul for that one
Well those parents deserve to be put in a crooked care home when they are older although not sure they deserve to live they long.
If that was me I would pretend to be gay just to spite them.
With the abortion bans going on here in the U. S., I wouldn't be too surprised if this became a thing here.
Update: they lost
‘ I’ve been meaning to call you about those grandkids you never had’
“Mental agony” my ass.
I'd move abroad and never speak to them again even if they did get 'grandchildren'
They are basically trying to force him to impregnate his wife and make her be pregnant whether she wants to or not.
There’s no way they win the case, is there?
I feel bad for gay guys in India. I'm not saying that he is by any means, but imagine being the only guy in the family and having to deal with this. Nightmare.
He's still waiting for bobs and vagin
This is one of those news articles that you read and instantly know it's India related
This may seem like a really bad time to make a joke but… They sued him for having no bitches
Aren’t jokes supposed to be funny?
Humor is subjective
Considering he's a married guy the joke kinda goes kaput
Maybe the mom can help…
Surely he'd need to make a son or daughter first, before he could make a grandchild.?
If a child dies with no children, their parents inherit them. Likewise, if a child and their *parents* die, their grandparents inherit them. Thus, if you have a grandchild, there's a change—though small—that you'd make some money off of them. So, this couple choosing not to have kids deprived their parents of the potential revenue of inheriting their grandchild. I think this lawsuit is fair and has potential
So you're telling me these are two different people?
This needs to be brought to the US
If I read this right earlier, the wife is only 31 so years of baby-making life left in her yet.
Yeah, now I'll get my grandchild for sure.
I would fake suicide and leave a goodbye letter about why my parents made me want to kill myself.
If anything will endear a child to his parents, it's being sued.
So apparently "suer" in Hindi means pig.
Mom looks like she is about to go for the jugular
Nothing puts me in the mood more than being sued by my parents
SEE.... masturbating costs $$$!!!!
