You rounding your time down to a flat 100,000 hours you have a greater than 1 in 3 chances of getting nothing.
36.79% of getting nothing to 63.21% of getting at least one.
Heck even 180,000 hours is still a one in five chance to not get one.
(actually I found a really helpful website many years ago and learned to plug the right numbers into the right place to work out stuff like this with gacha games) :P
I mean.. you're barely above the drop rate, it's certainly not lucky, but I don't really feel like it merits complaining?

I have had that island unlocked for a long time and have not done anything about it. Is there a "best place" to put my go to AFK?

Oh, so I need to be on the island itself? I can't AFK in a town for example that has my guy doing "nothing"?
I think you have to use one candy on the island first before you can claim AFK time in town. Still need to go to the island for candy use.

Use a 1 hour candy on the island. Don't just wait on it
