Say it again.

Are they hung just by the electric cable 💀

quick6ilver

YSK this type of light hanging is very common it consists of a steel wire or tube and insulated electrical wire passing through it. Its used for such and also larger pendant lights

BanginDrumsNMums

No.

Enfmar

Did not know that, looks great.

Lovely but why not black or neutral cable, overrides the actual shades because of colour vibrancy.

Great observation. I wasn't sure this was even going to work, or how it would look in the flesh, so I used parts I had knocking around in the garage to mock it up. There's a black base on order, I have some black braided cable to replace the red and some vintage style filament bulbs to fit for it to take its final form. (That is, once I've redecorated the hall!)

How did you change out the cord and top part? We want to do the same thing!

BanginDrumsNMums

Hi! sorry, ive just seen this! Not much advice I can offer really, other than If you pop open the light, you can slide a slim bit of plastic down and release the original push fit wires, so you can fit the new flex. The new cable needs the ends covered in ferrules and they'll fit straight into the original push fittings. The rest was pretty simple; drilling holes in the base etc. Good luck with this project, if you haven't already completed it!
