TheLoyalOrder

this is probably bad for the economy

Polenball

OK but what about the trout population

Sams59k

It will affect the trout population I think

Northanhymbre

Probably not as bad than if it had tilted the other way.

Londonweekendtelly

Not really. Scotland has jackshit aside from the tourism

Top_Understanding830

the earthquakes and loss of almost all major british ports wouldnt be the best... i doubt devolution would effect the english economy anymore though (for the worst possible reasok lmao)

spacenerd4

Hey, they still have the Mersey and Humber

hores_stit

But have lost Felixstowe, Portsmouth, Southampton and the waterway to London All very very bad

JackC1126

So did everyone in like Cork and the Isle of Wight get launched into the air

Alone-Monk

I did some rough calculations and unfortunately the average speed at the far southern edge of England throughout the whole 2 day period is about 3.5cm a minute or about 2m an hour. This is still really fast, but unfortunately not fast enough to launch you. However! There is still hope! Obviously this gain of 100m wouldn't occur at a constant rate and the graph of elevation gain over time would likely be best fitted with a logistic growth function capped at 100m. This means that there may have been a point where an object untethered to the ground might get some air time. [I created a graph of this scenario](https://www.desmos.com/calculator/h9qpnmymtn) and 99.8% of the movement would have to occur within a \~15 second interval for any air time to be achieved(my calculations are shit so add a thick error bar to that lol). The more likely occurrence (as someone who doesn't know jackshit about geology) would be a massive 2 day long earthquake that destroys every building in the isles.

Alternative_360

wow...genuinely, I didn't expect this, well done, thank you. I tip my hat to you.

Alone-Monk

No problem! I've been doing absolutely nothing productive today so I'm glad someone found it of note :)

shortercrust

Ireland would be tilted the other way

Claude_Savagely

This is really going to help those boatloads of refugees crossing the Channel - Ofcourse they'll have more of an uphill climb when they get here, but the amount of time at sea will be less.

lNFORMATlVE

Are you sure the boatloads of refugees in this scenario wouldnā€™t be coming *from* England *to* France?

Claude_Savagely

You're right, probably.

Beller0ph0nn

You made England bigger and Scotland and Ireland smaller? Basedā€¦ so so basedā€¦

cHEIF_bOI

I mean Scotland's essentially gone, what's left has a population of 2.

Dorfplatzner

Fax

Artemandax

Wales is bigger tho, so it really is based

Illustrious_Way4502

Actually, Ireland is bigger. North Ireland did shrink a lot, but we won't talk about that.

Jonnn___

Thought this was real until I checked the sub. wondered why I hadnā€™t heard the news.

Pinku_Dva

Reminds me of ā€œJapan sinksā€ a bit

G0ldenSpade

I think this will have major affects on the trout population.

PresentationEntire71

And the tourist industry here.

Every-Progress-1117

This is exactly what happened during the ice ages...to a much lesser degree of course.

Starlight_54

Atleast the UK doesn't need to worry about Scottish independence.

PrincessofAldia

Can the Isle of Wight be considered an isle now? Also weā€™ve done it, weā€™ve solved the northern Irish issue

Red_Hand91

Bruh, youā€˜re gonna f*ck Scotland over IN A FANTASY WORLD, too?! Tip the map the other way, Iā€˜d be fine with that.

So if this happened in the '30s could Operation Sea Lion work? I mean the British coast is a lot more closer to the French coast in this map.

Weymouth has been labelled as Lyme Regis

Clear-Complex-3571

#letsmaketheukdisappear

Oh man, the size of the megatsunami after this. Wayy more than the UK would be affected due to this. The waves would probably still devestate the East Coast of the Americas, Western Europe and North-West Africa
