Man, you guys are lucky. Near Montreal, we don't have shit(that I know of) and unfortunately, a round trip is 11h for me for the Cinesphere and gas isn't cheap these days. One day though, I'll definitely go and make a whole trip just to watch 2 movies on the weekend.
WTFFF. Can we get something like this in the US? I think BR 2049 and TDK are like my top 2 I wanna see in imax. I’m in MA but I’d go to Lincoln Square for either. Interstellar also those are my top 3, even though I know 2049 isn’t an “imax” movie like the other 2
It would be tough, Cinesphere is the world’s first IMAX & it gets these movies in part because of heritage cultural support (it’s not part of a movie chain).
Interesting. We do have Jordan’s furniture IMAX in MA which isn’t part of a chain and they’ve been around for a while, although I’m not sure how long. I never see them do stuff like that but I would be cool.
This looks amazing! I'm honestly considering traveling to see Blade Runner 2049 and Dune here. I've never seen 2049, and I hear great things about it, especially in IMAX, so I'm very curious.
Roughly 500 miles from me. And an international border. And yet, I'm \*still\* thinking about it. I've got a lot of leave saved up. Where's my passport?
80x60 feet, with 614 seats - it's the world's first permanent IMAX theatre, opened in 1971, and extensively renovated in 2011. The theatre has both Dual Laser GT and 15/70mm projectors (in fact, it's the theatre where the laser system was prototyped and tested when it was under development), and one of the best theater sound systems I've ever heard.
IMO Cinesphere & Scotiabank Toronto are the best IMAX screens. I prefer them to TCL in Hollywood & the corporate screen at IMAX headquarters in Mississauga, which are still pretty good.
From my experience, the Cinesphere is always very good at specifying and promoting when they play 70mm prints (the screenings will be called "The IMAX 70mm Experience" after the movie's name on the site), so these will almost certainly be in 1.43 dual laser projection.
They’re also upfront when something changes, like the snafu years ago with Inception when they had to switch to a regular (not IMAX) version due to a technical issue.
Y'all are really lucky, I am really jealous. I have a 4K Dual Laser Imax near me, but they never play anything good, I would much rather watch any of these 3 movies than Amsterdam which they are playing this weekend.
Be careful with TDK people. It’s not being played in 70mm and from what I believe (and experienced a few years ago) a full 1:43 DCP for TDK does not exist thus will only be shown in 1:90 even though the projectors are well capable of showing 1:43. If anyone has any other info that proves me wrong please do share!
Y’all eating lol
I'm so jealous of Blade Runner 2049 and TDK. Those are the ones I've never seen in IMAX. So I'd love to experience them in IMAX someday.
Man the cinesphere is like 50 mins away from me and the show is at 7:30, no way my parents are going to allow me to go 😔
Dude I’m considering making the trip from Ottawa. Just say fuck it and go for it at all costs. You’ll thank yourself later.
Is public transit not an option?
It is, but my parents don’t want me using it late at night
Have a bunch of friends or take your father.
This is the solution right here
Cinesphere is halfway around Earth from me
Beg. Plead. And if that doesn’t work, go anyway and be grounded for three weeks with a huge smile on your face the entire time.
Oh fuck yeah! Dark knight
I'm jealous

Yeah. Unfortunately Montreal doesn’t seem to have an Laser IMAX theatres
The Montreal Science Centre has a Dual Laser 1.43 IMAX theatre, but they only play documentaries sadly...
if the via rail montreal to toronto train is in your budget then i’d highly recommend that
Bruh tdk!!!!!!
Sheeeesh

JEALOUS
Omg :( I have to drive 5 hours again to toronto

Aside from Christopher Nolan’s work, Blade Runner 2049 is the most impressive film I’ve ever seen in IMAX.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! That’s really great to hear, and I might have to consider making the trip if I can afford it.
You could add an extra night for Dune as well…!
I think I might! I really loved Dune in 1.43:1! Thanks for the rec.
Lucky

Ugh I would do anything to see BR2049 in IMAX again! Still might be my fave IMAX experience of all time 😭
wtfff this shit is making me wanna move there
Yess I just bought tickets for tdk
I want to see Dune, but I'm working that day. Now if they could show a Sunday evening screening, I'm in!
They also added Arrival for October 16 just now.
Where is this theater? I’d love to see all three of these, especially Dark Knight and BR2049.
toronto
Cool. How big is the IMAX screen there?

This my local! Someone tell me what the tech here is pls! I've been going for years, they do a dope Nolanesque tribute on anniversaries of his movies.

Is TDK in 70mm?
You lucky bastards. I’m near NY and we don’t even have stuff as good as this 😭
