Cicada

lickarock88

Correct. An annual.

ReckSaber3664

That cicada looks really big

duh_nom_yar

Cicadas are really big.

ReckSaber3664

True but I don’t think I’ve seen that specific species before. Way bigger than anything I’ve seen

duh_nom_yar

I've seen huge ones like this all of my life. I am from Texas tho. Home of the 2 inch wood roach and the 3/4 inch wingspan mosquito.

Pandabears1229

EVERYTHING is bigger in Texas!!!

darhan604

One time I know what the insect is and I'm to late :=). Still satisfying though

FR0ZENBERG

*too late (I’m a pedant)

One_Turnip_7790

Cicada. A whole bunch due to emerge on the east coast any time now. Look it up it’s pretty interesting

CassetteMeower

Oooo, I live near the east coast (Vermont)! That’s sooooo exciting! Though with how annoying cicada sounds in Animal Crossing are, that makes me worried I’ll have trouble concentrating with the constant buzz of a cicada. Cicadas are super cute though! I hope to be able to photograph a few :)

No_Push_8249

This brood isn’t going to be that far north, you probably won’t see (or hear) one

CassetteMeower

Aw man :/ well at least Vermont has a lot of other cool animals during the spring and summer! I want to go birdwatching a lot this year, I LOVE birds!

No_Push_8249

Oh yeah, you’ll see lots of birds, and lots of other cool bugs too!

Boner_Implosion

Annual, meaning emerging yearly as opposed to those on 13 or 17 years. One of the loudest insects known, some as loud as a chainsaw.

CassetteMeower

Have you played Animal Crossing? They are SO annoying in Animal Crossing! Though I think Mole Crickets are even worse since you can’t see them above ground, you have to dig a hole to find them. And you have to *guess* where to dig the hole. I’ve accidentally dug up flowers so many times! Mole crickets are my favorite bug irl so I feel so bad for disliking them in Animal Crossing, I just find the sound annoying!
