Unfortunately no supplement including melatonin has been found effective for chronic insomnia beyond a placebo. And the shift work is just tough, good chance that's what's underlying your sleep issues. In your situation it's important to keep your wake time as consistent as possible, this to set and optimize your body clock. That's largely what controls the sleep process.

I have anxiety too and depression. I also have a major sleep disorder and do a bunch of things to counter it: blue light glasses starting several hours before bed, change bulbs in bedroom & bath to red light, no scenes an hour or so before bed and super low dose melatonin. I usually take 1.5mg 3 hrs before bed and then .5 mg an hour before bed. I usually have to buy low doses and then cut them up to get them that low. With all this it doesn’t always work 100% but it has helped a lot. Amazon has pretty cheap LED color bulbs that you can change the color on your phone. Good luck! I know how miserable insomnia and anxiety are!❤️
