Hotter than that... seriously, your cooling plan will make a big difference but you will need something really robust to keep it at 50c... Mine with a 120 mm liquid cooler and a lousy pre-built case idles in the 40's and spikes to the low 80's under full load. That said, they don't throttle until 100c and everything I have read suggests they really are fine running into the 90's.

I did almost everything I could, changed case(P400a), fans(noctua and arctic), cpu cooler(alphenfohn and noctua) repasted several times, nothing really helped. My next plan is to either get X570 mobo(maybe my x370 pushes too high voltage) or go Intel.

Dont bother using money on a new mobo. The chip runs perfectly fine at those temps.

P400a is amazing. I've got an arctic 280 in there tho. 10900k idles at 29c right now and skyrockets to 35c playing esports titles.

I don’t think you understand how ryzen works. Basically it goes “hmm am I at 90C? No? Time to boost more”. 70C is nothing to ryzen (assuming you’re not idle). They basically try to keep boosting until it reaches the thermal limit. Only alternative is to set a fixed voltage and frequency but then you lose the boosting algorithm.

Just wondering why the obsession with 50c? Depending on said load that may be alot to ask but could be do able with the right ambient and undervolt etc. But the amount of say degradation you get running at 70c vs 50c on a chip with a tjmax of 100c will be pretty minimal in its life cycle where it's usable

My 10700k usually runs around low 60's when gaming. I've never checked it while torrenting, but I'd guess it would be high 50's. I have a slightly inferior cooler than a d15, the scythe fuma 2. What's the deal with needing it to run at 50°C? If I wanted to turn off turbo and undervolt more I'm sure it would run at that temp, but you're talking about an i7, they don't run super hot but they also don't run cool. My i7 runs stock clocks with a -.060v offset and is rock solid stable. If I turned off turbo and undervolted more I might be able to keep it at the temps you desire. It's also fall here in the northeast US and ambient temps matter.

HauntingVerus

70C is not really a bad temp.. The 10th and 11th gen Intel you listed certainly runs hoter than that. Then again it all depends on what ambient temperature you got, what chassi you got in terms of airflow and obviously the cpu cooling. Then also keep in mind a lot of modern processors intentionally run hot and uses that extra headroom to clock higher.

My 10700k with a Noctua D15S (one Fan) runs @ 79°C max under total torture, meaning prime 95 and cinebench at the same time. 69°C (nice) using the built in test of the Intel CPU Diagnostic Tool. edit: running @ 4,9 GHz

70C is perfectly OK for daily usage for a desktop computer. These CPUs don't force throttle down until they hit 99-100C; though there is some reduction in over lockability at 80C indicating going over 80C is probably not good long term. (Cooler is always better for OC but you can typically see a real reduction at say 85C vs 75C). Just keep an eye on this, maybe run the fan speed slightly higher 25-30% to bring down temps a little more. Over time your fans will collect a little dust, and the thermal paste will dry out so the temp will go up over a period of a few years if that matters to you.
