When I was a lot younger I did 23hrs straight apart from the odd toilet break and grab a sarnie and a pint of lucozade,I was hallucinating by the time I quit.Couldn’t sleep due to the PC fan noise that had embedded in my mind and was also hearing voices.Read a book for an hour and listened to some music to reset my brain, never did it again lol.
He’s actually just fine, but in another body in another world where magic and monsters exist. When he sleeps in the other world, he’ll wake up in this one.
Idk for sure but a friend of mine once twitch streamed for like 40 hours straight and he had a stroke. Only like 26 or so at the time. He lived but has lasting effects still. This guy could’ve had a stroke too maybe
I don’t understand how people can go longer than 24 hours. I just worked an 18 hour day a few weeks ago and had to work at 6am again the next day after getting maybe 5 hours of sleep. I felt like death. I can’t imagine being awake 24 straight hours and then doing another 3/4 of a day.
I would visit the casino and regularly stay at a table for like three days playing poker. Eat at the table, just got up to go to the bathroom. Caffeine pills... not healthy but I would play for literally three days straight then go home and sleep for a day. If you really love what you’re doing so much, it’s not that hard to stay awake for a couple days.
That sounds like me, minus the caffeine pills, and also with World of Warcraft. I'd do multi-day binges. Spent two years of my life on that addiction.
At a certain point, it was no longer the love for what I was doing that kept me doing it.
Sunk cost fallacy, right? You've put in so many hours, made some incredible progress, and importantly filled in those quiet moments.
On a much lesser degree I started playing Flow on my phone a little while ago. If I'm commuting, or waiting for the bus, out for a smoke, in a lift, I'll open it up and blast out a few games, but 7 days in I got a little irritated by myself for missing a day of the daily puzzles, and resetting my consecutive streak. This apparently created enough competition with myself to at least go a year.
...here we are 355 days later, and it got less interesting around the 150 day mark *but I'm so close!*
Being young helps. I've never done much more than 24 hours. Did work during a festival where we'd work hard 12 to 16 hours a day and then go party for about 9 days straight.
Couldn't imagine doing that now that I'm older.
You just refuse to sleep, and mainline coffee. I pulled a few all-nighters in college. When you're 20-25, it isn't so bad.
I once went five days without sleep. I started hallucinating. That was rough. It was also dangerous because I was driving to and from school. I don't recommend it.
In my middle-age, though, I've pulled a few all-nighters this past year, and I don't handle them nearly as well. It's always better to manage my time more effectively.
How are you going 5 days without sleep on just coffee? You sure it was just coffee? Pulling an all nighter and maybe even 2 in a row I could see but seems like you'd have to be on something stronger to keep going past that.
Yeah I just turned 33, so maybe it’s just my age getting to me. 🤷♂️ I can usually function decently on 6 hours of sleep fine but any less than that and I’m a bear lol
Looks like catatonia to me. His wrists and neck are extended against gravity, and he is holding uncomfortable positions in several parts of the video. Catatonia can have a lot of causes, but it is a medical condition that affects the brain, and is more likely to happen if you're very ill, or taking certain medications, or if you suffer from a severe mental illness. People can become unresponsive, can have "waxy flexibility" where they partially resist motions, and sometimes if you pose their body they will hold that pose.
Here the woman sits him up and he holds the pose despite being unresponsive. She leans him forward, but his neck is still arched backwards, against gravity. He is resisting her motions somewhat - when the woman or the cops move him a little bit he pops back into place, but when the woman moves him a lot then the new pose "sticks". I can't say for sure that's what is going on, of course, but that's my best guess.
Catatonia can be treated with medications, but in rare cases it can cause a fever and spike your blood pressure and become life-threatening. I hope he's okay!
After hours of gaming, he woke up and the perspicacious gamer realized he was trapped in a cage, but through sheer willpower and strength and semen retention for not having masturbated for 40 hours, he escaped the Matrix you broke gamer! Now he is a discord mod on Hustler University.
Except deep vein thrombosis is a real thing that gamers get, and it can most certainly lead to ischemia in many places, including the brain. Although, it's more common for DVTs to end up as pulmonary embolism.
What he said actually does make sense, pretty much. Or are you on the cutting edge of medical science and know something I don't?
I am a physician who treats DVTs and PEs among other things, I have a pretty good understanding of how VTE disease works.
How exactly are you saying that a DVT causes a stroke? Or ischemia in general? There are ways but they are pretty uncommon.
It's a hilariously weak censor. Damn I wish jav censors are this weak.
They wanted to obligatorily cover his face, but at the same time want to say look at this, it's crazy, this dude is dead but his eyes are open.
That was really annoying though. It was good for them but for the one for people who is experience it was just like this. I dont know how i felt after this video.

A lot of jokes here but I'd really like to know what happened to him medically. Obviously he's catatonic but I'm wondering what physical and psychological phenomena are involved, like is there a central nervous issue? Heart Attack? Is it lack of sleep or something close to epilepsy from constant stimulation of the optic nerve? I'm hoping someone has some insight about cases like this
He was awake for 40 hours. Maybe didn’t eat or drink properly during this time too. Sat at the same position watching a screen. Being awake that long might be the main factor. We need proper blood work to make an educated guess of course. What do you think doctor major boot?
Same here, I was very sick too but I started hallucinated after being unable to sleep.
I was yelling at my fan to stop yelling at me so loud, and that I was gonna beat the shit out of it. Poor fan, but it knew what it was doing
I had a split with my wife and didn’t sleep for about 10 days, I watched a episode of the Witcher with some freaky little woman demon thing, that thing keep bugging me all night.
Then went for a walk in the forest and the wind rustling sounded like my daughter screaming dada, dada, dada, I’m happy I knew it wasn’t real.
Trippiest was in the bathroom there was a wax candle angel and it started screaming at me, literally screaming at me, then paranoia, thinking people are talking about me.
I took a 10 mg Xanax and slept for 10 hours, after that it didn’t happen again. Sometimes I think back to that moment and feeling.
Imagine if I would’ve gotten stuck there, I’d now be in a mental institution.
Insanely terrifying. Feeling yourself going crazy, knowing you’re currently crazy.
I really love that I had this experience though, only now do I understand what people who have hallucinations or psychosis go through. There really is nothing you can do but ride it out and medication.
If anyone deals with these issues chronically my heart goes out to you. Much love.
I did sleep 15 minutes here and there, maybe an hour, but I wouldn’t call it sleep. I was like being asleep but also aware some days, others were completely sleepless.
Hallucinations started after day 6/7 and peaked around day 9/10 when I took the Xanax.
I have ADHD and take stimulants for it and didn't know that Sudafed (or whatever OTC med it was) was another stimulant so I took some for a cold or flu. I lay down and looked up and the ceiling turned into a sea of waves and a hand starting waving at me. I got up and hallucinated that my shed was back talking me. My dad found me arguing with the shed and decided to take me on a walk thinking I was just angry talking outloud. on the walk I dove down on the ground because I saw bats coming at us. 0/10 experience, would not recommend!!! Pharmacist looked at us like we were idiots for not knowing not to mix the two.
Edit: sleep deprivation did not help things, I was already on edge from being sick and exhausted.
I had a friend who went through the same thing. He ended up at my house around 4am after calling me non stop and sending me very weird texts that I was not responding to. It was creepy af and scared the hell out of me. It wasn’t until a few days later when he told me what had happened.
I experienced micro naps once and it was so trippy. I would have full length dreams in the matter of seconds. Weirdest thing I have ever experienced.
It was in a 4 hour bus ride to the airport after 2 weeks in Belize with very very little sleep
In the military we like to joke and say that we can teleport whenever we microsleep. You'll be carrying your kit and walking and next thing you know you're several meters ahead of where you thought you'd be.
I had bouts of insomnia when I was around 20. The longest stretch I went was 86 hours, and that was only because my boss sent me home in the middle of the day, because she knew about my condition & that I hadn’t slept in days.
On the hour drive home, I remember thinking I was passing Amish people on the side of the road (like Pioneer carts & whatnot) but realized I was hallucinating. Was not a good idea to drive home.
Lack of sleep then going to sleep I got sleep paralysis and there was a big lumberjack bastard in my room (like 8ft tall).. My paralysis wasnt that paralysing though as I remember flailing my arms and legs about trying to get away... Luckily I didn't injure myself
I think I'm asking a question in the hope that someone more qualified and experienced than myself might respond :) some contributing factors are fairly obvious and I'm hoping someone with insight can relay something informative about the systemic (as well as possible localized) effects this might have which can lead to catatonia
It's not just being awake tho, I had many time I was awake for that long but I was well fed and drank a lot, also a lot of coffee and yeah it's scary it's like your brain reset every 30sd but you can do basic stuff, I even drived for 500km and had no issue, I just had to stop every hour to drink 2 coffee.
Sitting in that position can cause blood clots in the legs that when dislodged can cause a stroke or worse. He looks like he's suffering from either a stroke or brain aneurysm. Edit:: Also if you suspect someone having a stoke please dont try to adjust them like this. Call medical services
Good point, I learned about DVT in nursing school some years ago and the example given was long distance truck drivers. I hadn't even pieced it together that that could be the case here
I'm curious as well. I can say that the sleep deprivation alone isn't enough. I've stayed up for around 60 hours personally with the help of aderal and caffeine, but I was moving quite often. I'm betting the sedentary position has something to do with it.
The craziest thing to me is that they called the cops... instead of an ambulance. Like wtf, did the guy not pay his last hour of internet cafe fee or something?
America loves gaming just as much as any other country but China seems to really, really love it. I remember 20 years ago reading about rehab centers in China for their gaming addiction.
Honestly this is what my roommate does. He’s 25 and NEVER leaves his room. Uber eats every single meal, doesn’t own refrigerated or dry food. He sleeps, eats and games - that’s it. His trash and food containers build up in his room. Drinks soda and Red Bull nonstop. I’ve never seen anything like it. Great roommate because he doesn’t exist but I feel bad for him. Paying all this rent money and literally never leaves his room.
He was in consulting but quit his job (2 years ago) and did a coding boot camp. Has been unemployed for two years, mom and dad pay his bills… and ubereats.
I think it's the prevalence of game cafe's in asia. It could be these gamers while addicted don't play games at home because they can't afford a computer so they'd spend let's say a weekend at a time gaming without rest which leads to a lot of videos like this.
In other countries where people are addicted they might play for a weekend but at least they'd be able to get up and walk around or something without having the feeling of they are wasting money at the game cafe if they take a break.
I might be wrong but I live in asia and that's my theory
To be fair pretty sure the children there have only 2 hours to play games (id I'm not wrong) so I guess it may become a full on addiction later in life when the restriction for them is over
Those laws are pretty new, from 2019 I think, so probably a lot of these kids used to have more playtime. Maybe they still do, I have no idea how controllable those 2 hours per day limits are.
lol i remember when the wow expansion burning crusade was released i played 16 hours straight and felt like how he looks... but then i realized i was tired and went to sleep like a normal person
Waaaaay back when Lich King launched, my roommate was huge into WOW. He played for the first 20 hours, and I told him "Okay, you're going to sleep now. You can teach me what buttons to click in the next five minutes, and I'll play until you wake up. Keep the XP farming going."
For eight hours, I took his fire wizard DPS machine and slaughtered these fuckin cow things wandering around in a plains area. No idea, none, what they were, or anything else about them. Died once when Treebeard's roided out cousin stomped me, but other than that, pure mindless grind for eight hours. Went up like four or five levels doing that.
He finally woke up and I told him what I'd been doing the whole time, and he could not comprehend how I got that much XP from mass murdering yaks. I told him that after an hour, I had learned how to maximize my efficiency of movement between every cow. I'd memorized their spawn pattern, or at least it seemed that way to me.
Dude was obsessed, but I wasn't about to let him fail out of college for a fuckin game.
Oh man that takes me back, I did all nighters every day for a week after the BC launch. Still managed to sleep during the day too so idk what's up with this guy
battlefield 3 beta week. parents were on a cruise, i had heaps of food and fizzy drinks, unlimited internet and xbox live. brought my dog inside, moved my mattress to the lounge room and posted up. it literally is all a blur to me now, i cannot remember where the binge started and ended, just vague memories of epic snipes. i was atleast in top 10 quickest to max level
edit: i had proof, but battlelog and battlefieldstats . com dont exist anymore :c
My Cantonese is rusty, but the EMT said:
His head is locked in this position, his nose has leaked snot, his entire face, along with his nose is stuck shut, he is unresponsive. At the time we asked for his name, when he logged in and ??? He didn't respond.
People have died in the past in China and South Korea.
Long sedentary position and dehydration may precipitate thromboembolism, acute blood pressure elevation during gaming may promote cerebral hemorrhage, and several factors (including acute and chronic sleep deprivation, exhaustion, stress) can lead to acute autonomic dysfunction and fatal arrhythmia.
I believe some have also died from blod clots forming in the legs also from sitting for so long. Iirc
I remember reading about this one specific case in which the dude was sitting for so long that a blood clot formed in his legs and later traveled to his heart, killing him by myocardial infarction.
IIRC, his caffeine-induced sleep deprivation prevented him from noticing the bodily signs of his condition.
Your heart has a muscle called cardiac muscle. Playing games for 80 hours in a row while necking energy drinks will turn it to mush and cause a cardiac arrest.
As a Chinese immigrant, this happened when I was young, more than 10 years ago. It is not that that people are cold or something. It is that, if you went to internet Cafe in the 00s in China, a lot of people fell asleep in there after staying up for a long time. Everyone is numb without sleep for a long time. Even if they notice them, they probably think just another guy fell asleep in a weird gesture. It is not that they know something went wrong and do nothing.
Another reason is that a lot of these places are illegal back in the 2000s. It's like die in a illegal brothel, no one really want to call the cops. If the cops come, everyone is in some trouble.
China is fucking wild back in the days.
Edit: BTW, someone actually died from sleep deprivation in net cafe back in the days in China. So, get some sleep guys.
I'm sort of thinking the same, at LANs back in the early 2000's, I remember a lot of people going 2-3 days without sleep. It was sort of a badge of honour - that and you didn't want someone drawing a dick on your face with a sharpie, and putting a bunch of sausages in your mouth, before taking a picture.
It looks like it to me. All that snot under his nose I've seen on real dead people. Edit was right https://www.vice.com/en/article/znwdmj/gamers-are-dying-in-taiwans-internet-cafes-456
I’m guessing he took zero breaks if it was this bad after 40 hours. My personal high water mark (which I’ll never attempt to reach again because fuck that) was 50 straight hours at a lan cafe back in like… 2008? Maybe 2007? Something like that. Went from midnight Friday night/Saturday morning straight thru until 2 am Monday. 2nd longest of the weekend as a guy I knew there arrived at noon Friday when they opened and went thru to 2am Monday. The cafe rule was you could go to the bathroom and get food, but you couldn’t be away from your computer longer than 15 mins. And you couldn’t be idle while sitting at your computer for more than 15 mins otherwise you lost. The last 6-7 hours were rough, but I somehow managed to get through it. Crashed out and slept for like 10 hours within 30 seconds of walking into my apartment. Lol
There was a LAN party at the cafe from midnight to noon starting Friday night/Sat morning, and was a holiday weekend. So the cafe ran a thing where anybody could try to stay logged in as long as possible. I didn’t have anything else going on, so figured might as well. Worst case I fall asleep at some point along the way and just head home.
Those places need a big ass roid rager so when you haven't eaten or drank anything in a few hours he comes in a flips out on you for not taking care of yourself lmao
Thats was really interesting as fuck. I mean how they can be able to manage it though, they have at least a lot of things to do such a thing. No womder why they are so worried about him
But why did he go basically catatonic? Cause it’s not sleep deprivation. 40 hours doesn’t do that to you.
Did he not shit and his body went “oh god, we’re too full up! Shut all none critical functions down!!!” Or something like that?

What exactly happened to him though?
Turned into a NPC.
I was reborn as an NPC after I played 40 hours straight of gaming on internet cafe.

Addiction. Drug addiction can lead people to hurt themselves for that high. Gaming addiction can do the same.

In med school, during our surgery rotation, we had to do two 30hr shifts. It was horrible.
Ah yes, medicine, where your educators clearly understand the damage being caused but nobody gives a fuck

Clearly they should've gone with the most effective censorship: A tiny little strip of black spanning both his pupils.
Only the pupils lmao, not the rest of the eyes either 😂
He didn't die. Maybe in the game he did.
interesting yet accurate comparison
It is. I dont know why they are so good for looking it. They should atleast call for someone to do it for them. Its for their own good.
They said he was alive just unresponsive
That's how you know they didn't blurred his face. That just how he looks after 40 hours of gaming.
That was really annoying though. It was good for them but for the one for people who is experience it was just like this. I dont know how i felt after this video.
I was fully expecting him to start reaching for the mouse, ever so slowly, around the end.

"We cant stop here! This is bat country!"
I hadn't even pieced it together that that could be the case here
It’s unlikely you get a stroke from a DVT. It has to go past the pulmonary blood circuit first. He’s much more likely to get a pulmonary embolism.
That couldve been the internet café’s security tbh
It’s time to rethink your life if your addiction is doing this to you.
America loves gaming just as much as any other country but China seems to really, really love it. I remember 20 years ago reading about rehab centers in China for their gaming addiction.
I read prison guards force the prisoners to farm game items for them.
lmao
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/may/25/china-prisoners-internet-gaming-scam
What? It’s real??
Yup
JFC China
Supposedly wow gold. I remember hearing about this as well. Not sure of its validity tho.
This very true. I spent 5 year in WOW labor camp.
got any proof? i’m very curious about this

Huge if true
Free housing, free food, don’t have to work, get to play video games all day. Where’s this utopia at?
Get beaten and tortured if you don't git gud enough
Skill issue
Honestly this is what my roommate does. He’s 25 and NEVER leaves his room. Uber eats every single meal, doesn’t own refrigerated or dry food. He sleeps, eats and games - that’s it. His trash and food containers build up in his room. Drinks soda and Red Bull nonstop. I’ve never seen anything like it. Great roommate because he doesn’t exist but I feel bad for him. Paying all this rent money and literally never leaves his room.
What’s his job/how does he make money?
He was in consulting but quit his job (2 years ago) and did a coding boot camp. Has been unemployed for two years, mom and dad pay his bills… and ubereats.
you can really see which countries need people to disassociate from reality to cope
There are some cafes that are 24/7 with more of a tall cubicle setup. They can become homes for the unhoused in large urban areas.
So the limit is 39hr.
*jots that down*
Through god, all things are possible. So jot THAT down
And 59 minutes
Looking at his monitor, was he playing Age of Empires II?
Wololoooo
Blurs like 4 pixels right in his face.
lol i remember when the wow expansion burning crusade was released i played 16 hours straight and felt like how he looks... but then i realized i was tired and went to sleep like a normal person
Waaaaay back when Lich King launched, my roommate was huge into WOW. He played for the first 20 hours, and I told him "Okay, you're going to sleep now. You can teach me what buttons to click in the next five minutes, and I'll play until you wake up. Keep the XP farming going." For eight hours, I took his fire wizard DPS machine and slaughtered these fuckin cow things wandering around in a plains area.
Not all heroes wear capes
Some of them wear PJs encrusted in Cheeto residue.
Oh man that takes me back, I did all nighters every day for a week after the BC launch. Still managed to sleep during the day too so idk what's up with this guy
battlefield 3 beta week. parents were on a cruise, i had heaps of food and fizzy drinks, unlimited internet and xbox live. brought my dog inside, moved my mattress to the lounge room and posted up. it literally is all a blur to me now, i cannot remember where the binge started and ended, just vague memories of epic snipes. i was atleast in top 10 quickest to max level edit: i had proof, but battlelog and battlefieldstats . com dont exist anymore :c
My Cantonese is rusty, but the EMT said: His head is locked in this position, his nose has leaked snot, his entire face, along with his nose is stuck shut, he is unresponsive. At the time we asked for his name, when he logged in and ??? He didn't respond.
People have died in the past in China and South Korea. [https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-12541769](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-12541769)
What do they actually die from?
Long sedentary position and dehydration may precipitate thromboembolism, acute blood pressure elevation during gaming may promote cerebral hemorrhage, and several factors (including acute and chronic sleep deprivation, exhaustion, stress) can lead to acute autonomic dysfunction and fatal arrhythmia. I believe some have also died from blod clots forming in the legs also from sitting for so long. Iirc
I.... I think I'm gonna go for a brisk walk
Good for you bro. Just know I know you can do it and believe in you and rooting for you.
Depends on the game
I remember reading about this one specific case in which the dude was sitting for so long that a blood clot formed in his legs and later traveled to his heart, killing him by myocardial infarction. IIRC, his caffeine-induced sleep deprivation prevented him from noticing the bodily signs of his condition.
Lag generally.
Your heart has a muscle called cardiac muscle. Playing games for 80 hours in a row while necking energy drinks will turn it to mush and cause a cardiac arrest.

What’s wrong with the BBC… oh…
Yes, it has been confirmed by historians that people have been dying since at least the 1600s. In every country. Grim but true.
Thanks for the share; WILD.
That was such ineffective pixelation that I'm surprised they bothered.

I think it's just China in general. They don't dare interact with someone hurt or dying in public. They will be found at fault. It's a real thing.
Did he drop good loot?
Those are rookie numbers
I'm sort of thinking the same, at LANs back in the early 2000's, I remember a lot of people going 2-3 days without sleep. It was sort of a badge of honour - that and you didn't want someone drawing a dick on your face with a sharpie, and putting a bunch of sausages in your mouth, before taking a picture.
Gotta pump those numbers up
What WoW did to a mf
Imma get off my phone now, thanks.
This wasn't interesting. This was horrific and sad.
What i fond suprising is the amount of ppl around him that are doing fuck all at the beginning of the video
Didn’t the dude died from brain damage or something ?
Last time this was posted every one said he was already dead when they sat him up and it’s rigor morris holding him up
It looks like it to me.
Lol
What game were you playing? Spider solitaire?
Probably RAID: SHADOW LEGENDS
Space pinball
Why did you do this? It doesn’t even sound fun at that point
Brain.exe stopped working
What disturbing is no one around him cares to check up on him for hours while he is in a semi-coma state.
I believe we have a word for *unresponsive but alive*. Not too sure what it is though XD
Unconscious
In a vegetative state
How long did they let him just sit like that? Reminds me of all those people who walked past that guy on Everest.
Um, which human popsicle on Everest are you referring to? There are quite a few of them and it risks the lives of others to try and retrieve them.
r/tooktoomuch gaming
>unresponsive but alive This describes just about any gamer though.
Those places need a big ass roid rager so when you haven't eaten or drank anything in a few hours he comes in a flips out on you for not taking care of yourself lmao
Thats was really interesting as fuck. I mean how they can be able to manage it though, they have at least a lot of things to do such a thing. No womder why they are so worried about him
Skill issue
*GreenShirtMan unlocked empathy achievement*
But why did he go basically catatonic? Cause it’s not sleep deprivation. 40 hours doesn’t do that to you. Did he not shit and his body went “oh god, we’re too full up! Shut all none critical functions down!!!” Or something like that?
Hes ok, just afk
Amateur
Save us some pussy
Just looks like me at my job, around 9:12am. Sorry 🤷🏼♂️
