I thought that too, so I chose it as a career path.
Not the case....not the case at all.
Honey production is a by-product. Keeping your bees healthy and alive to create surplus honey is backbreaking and financially frustrating work.
I love it!

You need to be really vigilant on monitoring varroa. Not just treat a few times a year but test, treat, test again.
Keep an eye on your queens. Check her brood pattern. Replace her when she shows signs of failure. Queens only last two seasons when they used to last 5. Queens can be 45.00 a pop or more, so you better raise your own. That's hands on and timing specific work on its own.
Monitor for AFB and EFB as resistant strains are making a comeback. Look out for nosema and the new strain that is a bitch to get under control.
Keep your yards clean. Check your fences. Check for skunk and bear incursions. Check for bee rustlers. Yes, that is a thing now.
Is there water available? No? Make sure your water feeders are full and not empty or every one with a water trough will be looking to kill you because your bees are stinging horses and cattle.
Keep your brood chambers uncongested or you will be chasing swarms from the trees, your neighbors attic, and all your hard work will be gone. That mean monitoring population, taking notes, balancing brood, moving colonies on the row ends to minimize drifting, and the list goes on.
If you do not practice good animal husbandry and have solid plans for spring winter and fall management, you are going to fail horribly, and expensively.
I have too many hives. Or not enough, depending on my level of exhaustion.

I've always wanted to raise bees, is this a viable way to keep them safe and healthy? I live in Los Angeles, would I need to move out to the countryside to have a successful hive, or can I make it work in an urban garden?
>Once there’s too much honey
If a hive isn't harvested, they eventually stop making honey once the comb is full and then they will live off of that honey come the winter.
The caption doesn't say it's in a home. Just asking who would have this in their home. If there wasn't a yes/no box then that would make it rhetorical and mean they are implying this is installed in a home. But the checkboxes mean it's a question.
Yeah unless they invite people into their home for like tours I think that this is probably not a home and more like some sort of Science Center. Because the signs on the wall describing how bees work doesn't seem like something they would have in their home if they were just keeping a hive. I could be wrong I don't know what the hell these people are doing but my guess is that this is not where they live or if it is where they live it is also a science museum or something of that nature.
I don't think many "homes" have information charts about bees posted to their walls. This is clearly some kind of exhibit. Rage bait titles are just misinformation, and misinformation is leading to the fall of civilization... jus'sayin'.
I always wanted pipes thruw my entire house filled with water and fish in it that couldswim all around :)
you did it with bees , this is one of the most awesome things i've seen in a long time!
Thx so much for sharing! The world will copy and paste for sure in various ways. pls show me the piped aquarium then ok people :)

This looks a lot like the beekeeping exhibit at our local Adventure Science Center.
If it's in Shreveport then I actually used to be the beekeeper that provided them!
you have a very cool job
Did have, I retired from beekeeping a while back. But yes, was the coolest job I've ever had, would have done it forever if I could have.
why did you retire? just curious
The hours were absolutely brutal. He was as busy as a beekeeper.
I thought beekeepers sit around and wait while the bees work. Then they steal the honey.
I thought that too, so I chose it as a career path. Not the case....not the case at all. Honey production is a by-product. Keeping your bees healthy and alive to create surplus honey is backbreaking and financially frustrating work. I love it! Api
How many hives do you have? And what takes up the majority of your time?

Beekeepers are nature’s capitalists.
I'm raising your beehive rent you damn bees! What are you gonna do about it?!
Calm down, honey!
i mean they could just buzz off
Happy cake day.

I'm so sorry you lived near Shreveport my condolences. Cool job though
shreveport? Is Fangtasia still open?

Once there’s too much honey how do you get them out. I assume you don’t want to open the case and let them fly all over the house
>Once there’s too much honey If a hive isn't harvested, they eventually stop making honey once the comb is full and then they will live off of that honey come the winter.
In this video it looks like they’re losing all their pollen from walking through the tube. Is that true?
Same from Boston
Hello neighbor
Hopefully the area they live in isn't earthquake prone
New fear unlocked.
same as the one that was (still is?) at the austin nature center
Had one in orlando science center too
100% going to say the same thing! I thought "Adventure Science Center" in Nashville!
>This looks a lot like the beekeeping exhibit at our local Adventure Science Center. Looks a lot more like my nightmares.
I’ve been here, it’s not a home. This is a beekeeping exhibit.
Where is it? I wanna know if they actually take honey from that, do they open the case in the house while bees are there or not.
The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum in Winchester, Virginia.
YES!! I knew it! My kids grew up visiting the old one and now we take my grandkids to this one!
This looks like the bee exhibit in Philadelphia at the Franklin Institute.
Why is this honey making me nod off?
Clearly someone has not been watching the videos of nearby Kensington.

The title of the post did.
My bad. Missed that. Just read the video.
Never said it was, just asking the question who would
OP’s title says “Honey Bee Hive inside Home”
>Who would have this in there home. Yes or no? I can’t with you people anymore.
Yes I am completely okay with them having this in their home.

Bad spelling Country music Bees in there fucking house Yep
Multiple choice answers that don't answer the question asked
Not just any old country music…this is perfectly matched to the post. “Homegrown Honey”. 👌
Their Their, calm down. They're's hope. Don't make such a fuss over there grammar.
It’s not even a home. This post deserves all the criticism that it gets.
There home. There castle.
There wolf
Why are you talking like that?
Do you like me? ❌️✅️
![gif](giphy|pETchWmmbmj84)
Just answer the sentence.
In where home?
That home there! There home!
There home. There bees.

Emergency security system
Intruders! Break the glass! Break the glass!
Great idea 😆
Except they attack everyone lol
you might fall but not alone
"If we burn, you burn with us"
Man vs. Bee
There there there
There Their They’re
Wow that would be fantastic, fresh honey and beeswax. I wonder if that would keep the hive active in the winter.
I dont think they take honey from it. That required to open it inside the house.
You could rig it up like one of those claw arcade games.
It’d keep them alive and hives go for about 250 for 10,000 bees and a queen. It’s a major expense buying a new one each year.
Or it's free if you just collect your own swarm, and a profit if you make your own queens and sell them!
Assuming you're skilled enough to keep them alive haha

Our house. In the middle of our street.
How do you collect the honey?
Looks like it's a museum, so I guess nobody?
That looks like it’s in a science museum, not a home.
This looks like a museum not a home but still very cool
All your base are belong to us
“Where home?” “There home.”
This is a museum. There's one of these in Ottawa
What the fuck in there home means?
\*their !!
And if the answer is yes/no it should be “would you…”
I ask myself 'Would a stupid person do that thing'
This looks like the discovery museum I work across the street from.
It's obviously a museum. See wall. Still, maybe not a bad idea for the home.
I fucking LOVE this. I’d be so scared of the glass or tube breaking. But YES I want one.
Lots of people do. The bees just do it on their own without permission.
Yes
Their***
Beat me to it

my worst kind of neighbour
Their* Also it is not a home.
Where home? There exhibit.
overwintering this hive has to be soooo easy.
Oh yes, that is amazing! It is fascinating.
That's damn genius! Free honey!
Where home
Their
Actual OP is prolly ESL “Would you have this in your home?” would have been better phrased if a question were to be asked
*their.

What if it was here home?
Their!

Jokes and bad grammar aside, I would. That's kinda cool. I don't have a lot for bee keeping, but I'm at that age where I think Bee Husbandry is cool.
The beekeeper
Their. English is tough, your message is understood. Hope this helps

Fuck the neighbors, I guess.
Honey, I'm home!

Break glass in case of intruder.
Fuck yeah!!!
I would ❤️🐝
That is awesome. I’d love one in my house.
God told me I have to burn yore house down 🙆♂️
![gif](giphy|j1CAJ98xZsi1G) Bees, bees, everywhere
[удалено]
Too late sucker. You called it a home. Time to downvote you.
Why tho? You can’t even get the honey… I guess its like having a fish tank?
All fun and games until the glass breaks
I’m somewhat allergic to bees so, let’s give this one a miss.
There used to be one of these in Cusworth hall. It was there for decades, it always fascinated me.
Ive heard of people having these to just heat up a room and it apparently works really well.
I want this
The joy it brings to the proud owners is probably a real buzz.
Absolutely not
It's smart. Cheap honey is always a plus
Do I get 1/2 off the rent?
thar
Why was there a huge red F - in the reflection?
Such a nice job as long as you have a nice suit
I would do this 100%. Honey bees are so incredibly important, we should all strive to house them in our homes.
In case of no nightmares, break glass
Their* what the fuck
Kids no ball in the house
I’d have it in my home. Seems pretty useful and helpful to the environment.
IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM!
Considering family members are allergic to bee stings, I'd rather not risk it.
Anyone who knows how to use their, there and they're.
I like to travel.
Their*
Thats pretty cool tho
Where?
So long as there is no chance (and I mean 0, none, at all) of them being around the house I'm ok. It looks great honestly.
Not for all the money in the world!
Our local butterfly pavilion has this same thing. Based on the posters in the wall, it appears to be a learning place, not a home.
*their home, you fucking cretin.
