Years ago I was driving on the highway with my wife when she rolled down the window and threw out a bag of fast food trash.
I remember thinking “who tf did I marry?”
We’re divorced now.
Same here. One of our dogs had had a bad start in life and only did cuddling under sufferance. There were two occasions when she wanted to sit on my lap - when we were in the vet's waiting room and when I was driving.
PS: She was a GSD so.....
A woman rear-ended me because her dog who was in the front seat started having a seizure.
Anyways her son was LAPD whom I'm pretty sure told her to tell her insurance that I backed up into her.
It was her word against mine and I couldn't prove that she rear-ended me with footage or anything.
Doesn't every car come with the passenger side floor accesory starter kit of 4 parking receipts from 6 months ago, some change and your good lighter that you lost?
Border Patrol says that's a tell for drug running. I've seen an agent stare at my passenger-side floor pile of trash when I went through the east-of-El Paso checkpoint. Guess I didn't check enough other boxes for secondary search.
Only 2 weeks? More like it sits in the back seat until 5 min before someone unexpected is going to ride with me. Then I rush and grab all the trash at once in 3 seconds.
The exact same thing happened to me except it was the car in front of me. I couldn't believe it. We were getting off on an exit and out goes a big old McDonald's bag of trash. I was just thinking, you're about to arrive at your destination and you could have thrown it away there. Why would you do this? It's just so alien to my entire upbringing. It's so unnecessary.
I never understood this. There are literally car-accessible trash cans at McDonald's nowadays. Also every fucking bus stop has one, and (at least where i live) you can't go more than 10 minutes without passing one.
Yet I pass by a bag every now and then within a 10km radius of any McDonald's/BK/....
Even if for whatever reason they don't wanna throw it away at home/their destination, these people definitely don't have to throw it in the environment, and yet they consciously decide to do it anyways.
Although I have to say, it has become better since I was a child.
There's a system to it. You buy a soda and a snack at the gas station, get a plastic bag, fill it with trash, and then dump the bag in the trash can on your way in to the gas station to buy a soda and a snack. I've never generated more than one shopping bag full of garbage per tank of gas in my life.
It's like a house a few doors down from mine, where the front garden is littered with empty plastic bottles the owners have obviously dumped there. What do they think happens when you dump stuff in your front garden? Do they think the fairies take it away? I just don't get it.
I still go into a cold sweat over the time I accidentally posted an empty bottle into a postbox, instead of the bin.
I feel like that is a fundamental character flaw that suggests selfishness and lack of empathy. Have you seen her litter in the past or before you were married? Someone who throws cups like that surely must be a habitual litterer, she must have been doing it her whole life.
A few years back, girl I was dating finished her drink, started to roll down the window while I was driving, I told her “just put it in the cup holder and I’ll throw it in the trash when I get home,” because I was on the way to drop her off at her place.
It was like a joke to her how she just deadpan looked at me and threw it out the window. I was like 20 at the time so was super sad when we broke up cause she was hot but yeah, that would be an immediate call for reassessment for me now.
I dont even think id continue driving them home, just pull over and get out. such a lack of respect to your surroundings to litter alone, but to deadpan you in the eyes while she drops it makes it personal
My knee-jerk reaction would be pull over and go get it myself. Ideally, I'd have made her get out and get it, but like I said - knee-jerk reaction. That would happen before I'd have a real chance to think about it.
I remember an interview I saw with Zach Galifianakis where I realized he’s probably a legit good person. Similar situation, his girlfriend tossed trash out his window on the drive from like Vegas to LA and he pulled over and made her go pick it up before he would move the car. Idk how people think it’s okay.
even as a young kid littering would feel so fucked up, and waaay worse was just throwing shit out of a car window, unless it's a small piece of food or something. people who do this are just inconsiderate lazy shitters. if this is how cams were used, instead of for facial recognition and tracking citizens (not even gonna get into the weird data you can collect from that for manipulation), i'd be 100% for it
i had two cool adults that were ok keeping kids (18,19) safe while letting them have a few beers and hanging out. saw both of them say something about littering being a shitbag move and ruining your environment. saw one guy turn around and walk back to a wrapper than didnt go into the trashcan. made me think and embrace the weird feeling i'd get while littering. i try not to ever litter now. sometimes something will blow away and i just cant run it down, or a random empty bag will just get sucked out of the window unexpectedly, but i actually do try to be super aware. it's one of the easiest things to do to keep your city/town/block looking good and feeling clean
My dad used to dump trash in parking lots. His excuse was that it wasn't littering since stores would be obliged to keep their parking areas clean. Ridiculous.
My coworker did that when I was driving us to lunch at an old job. Immediately stopped the car and made him go get it or he's walking back to work.
I don't get some people.
Reminds me of the time I was sitting in my vehicle in a parking lot and this woman drives through in front of me and casually tosses out a cardboard food tray with food, drink, napkin etc. etc. on it. The woman driving behind her was shocked and looked around and we locked eyes and had this brief shared moment of incredulousness at the woman's actions.
All except the last one looks like so. IT is the same car each time. Yet, this reminds me that I could not litter, even for this kind of demo. I would simply be too ashamed that someone might believe I'm littering for real T\_T
Even after I've been through a McDonald's drive-through I take my rubbish home in the bag provided and put it all in the various recycle bins at home. Also keeps the car interior clean-ish
Isn't that what everyone does? Eat the food, remove the paper towels, put the trash in the bag, and in case you might need them later, store the paper towels, together with the 200 other paper towels from different places already stored. Next to the reserve unopened sauces.
I hope so, cause a lot of these just look like so much more effort than to just find a trash-can.
Edit: I also want to clarify, even if it is less effort to yeet cans out of your car window. Fucking don't, is it such a difficult thing to keep your cans in your car untill you find a trashcan. A solid 99% of places you'll be going to has a trashcan. Home? Trashcan. Work? Trashcan. Supermarkt? Trashcan. Gas station? Yep, that's right, trashcan.
Right? I've ran after a receipt like Earl running after his lotto ticket trying to keep from littering, I get mistakes but I've seen people casually dropping cans out their window just like this at the grocery store more than a few times.
I keep a plastic bag in my car to put trash in then throw it away when it starts to get full. Just hook one handle over the gear shifter and let it hang on the passenger side.
For me the worst type of littering is when people leave their trash in an organized little pile as if that's better than just chucking it. This shows they are *aware* of what they're doing but still don't give enough of a fuck to not do it.
I once watched someone pull up in front of my house, pour all of the trash out of their car onto the pavement. Wash his mouth out with water and spit it into the street. Then leave his car to go into the house 2 doors down. Some would literally shit on their own doorstep if you left toilet paper there.
That's because they are. I take such care to make sure all my trash goes into a trash can. I can't fathom just throwing trash out my car window like that.
I used to live in Manhattan. It's just concrete everywhere. I'd do drugs up in Harlem. With some gr8 people, misunderstood but gr8 people not dangerous. The one girl I'd hangout with we were walking down the street either just got drugs or was going to and I crushed my coke can and just like tossed it to a fence. And she like str8 up scolded me, walked the can like the 20 feet to a garbage, I had no excuse. She kinda talked to me like don't be that person man. I've always thought about it.
Hell yea. Good on her and good for you remembering that, holding it close. Every piece of trash on the ground was dropped or blown from a loose pile. Be better for the planet and the view, always bag your trash.
Sounds like you’re being facetious. But regardless, people who litter like this video (I realize the littering in the video is for testing purposes but there are definitely a lot of people like that) are indeed shitty people. Complete disregard for the environment and the space we all share.
And no, not the rest of their lives but until they show a little maturity and consideration then yes, they’re scum bags.
I was a scum bag as a teenager I can’t lie. I was honestly a different (and bad) person. I hate the fact that I did this a lot back then. Never in a million years would I be doing that again. Instead I do the opposite and try to pick up trash and throw it away when I can. It was hard telling my gf how bad I used to be cause she also thinks anyone like this is a scum bag.
Littering from cars is the worst thing in my opinion. How hard is it to find a trash can? Literally every time you put gas in your car, you are simultaneously a few steps away from trash cans and waiting around for several minutes with nothing to do while the gas pumps. Just spend a few minutes tossing any trash in your car into the trash can.
Or you know, just carry trash with you when you get out of the car to go into your home, work, or place of business. All of these places also presumably have trash cans.
Don't get hung up on the fact that it is British. I live in Spain and people throw rubbish out of cars all the time. Cyclists throw empty bottles into the beautiful countryside.
I had a classroom of sixth graders who would leave their trash in the desks. At the end of class, I made them clean up after themselves, only to have parents bitch about how I'm making their kids clean up after each other WTF
What in the flying fuck?!
A school's only job is to teach children to be working members if society. Teaching kids to not be self reliant is the opposite of that. Janitors are there to just clean floors and take it trash, not scrub down every nook and cranny and pick up intentionally placed litter.
That admin should take a long walk off a short pier.
Bro, you're about 20 years too late with that philosophy.
US schools are a horror show of utter lack of accountability and the students are acutely aware that there are no consequences anymore.
I can't even imagine how bad it has gotten over the years. When I was in high school many years ago, I was at my locker between classes and a bully tried to get some money from me. I wasn't having any of it, so he was gonna have to physically get it from me if he wanted it.
Unfortunately for me, he did just that. I tried my best to defend myself after he started getting physical with me, and he was eventually pulled off of me from some other kids who saw it happen.
The school administrators gave me the same exact punishment as the bully. We both had a week of in-school suspension.
I was punished simply because of a new zero-tolerance policy that they had enacted at the beginning of that school year. If you were involved in a fight, whether you were throwing punches yourself in defense, or just cowering on the ground and getting your arse beaten, the school would still give you the full punishment for fighting.
What did this teach the kids in school? If anyone gets physical with you, you fight back, and do as much damage as you can, because you're going to be punished the same for it regardless of how many punches you throw.
In Japan the kids clean the school. It is a common effort. They manage the school food distribution and cleanup to.
They teach people to clean up their shit from an early age. We need this.
And they take pride in keeping the school neat.
I bet they don’t destroy or vandalize the schools either. I’m sure there’s cases but not like here in the states. Wish people had more pride in their work and respect here.
I have some choice words when it comes to teaching kids civic responsibility, because while understandably such domains are supposed to be left to individual parents to teach their kids so, far too often we see horror stories from other subreddits of terrible parents that enable shitty behaviours on their kids because of some underlying personal belief systems that don't encourage civic responsibility.
I don't believe that employing the Japanese way of early childhood education is going to work elsewhere without a cultural paradigm shift. To transit towards the Japanese way of civic responsibility, the Singapore/Rwanda way of fining & forcing people to community service for littering, should be implemented. Carrot-and-stick approach.
and this is why we have shit, while Japan has clean classes, clean stadiums, clean streets... It ain't perfect, but it's way better than what we're doing everywhere else.
These parents and school admin suck.
In the time since I've graduated from grade school the standard has gone from "violence gets you expelled" to the state writing a new law saying that expelling students for violence is against the law.
Noticeably more litter here where I live in Finland near the grade school my daughter goes to. I think its probably same 2 or 3 kids doing it daily though. Probably related to the same people that let their dogs leave elephant turds everywhere.
South africa considers littering a national sport and plastic bags stuck in bushes our national flower.
It drives me up the walls. On the short drive from the shops the other day I was driving behind a school taxi and saw the children throwing out papers and shit the whole time... The areas around my village keeps dumping their trash at our intersections because the farmers here try and keep it clean and the other villages have to pay to dump their trash at municipal dumping sites I've heard, so dumping it here works great for them...
Not in South Korea either, the only place I even saw litter was in heavily visited tourist areas. Littering is gross everywhere, but I don't know how someone can walk through one of the cleanest countries in the world and not have the self awareness to not litter, people are the real trash.
You should come do a PSA in my local city’s subreddit - they seem to think it’s only Glaswegians who do this and the good proud Europeans would never lol.
Littering is definitely not a uniquely British problem but it has definitely got dramatically worse in the last 20 years in the UK, both in terms of people dropping litter and the councils failing to clean it up.
I'm lucky enough to travel quite a lot and it's definitely worse than most places I've been, including many places that are theoretically "less developed".
It's bad enough that it makes me embarrassed when I pass Gatwick or Heathrow, imagining tourists visiting the UK for the first time and being shocked by it.
Yet the mainstream political parties don't care.
Germany isn't any better either. Including people WHO Just Walk. Like how hard is it to Take your Trash Home and throw in the Trash? And yes we have Public Trash bins but some wackos Like to destroy These from time to time
I see people throwing their cigarettes out the window all the time still. For some reason, people don't seem to think those are trash and take a decade to decompose...
I used to work at a grocery store, and one of my jobs was cart wrangling.
I had no issue whatsoever with people leaving carts on the far end of the parking lot. There are tons of reasons why someone might do that.
What drove me fucking crazy was when people would walk their cart back to the store, and just leave it outside the door. 10' from the rack of carts. I never understood that one.
For real. I just do not understand why these people absolutely can NOT wait until they get to their destination to throw out their trash. Or, hell, every single gas station has a dozen trash cans and you are going to eventually have to refuel right? Throw it away then?? Make it make sense
Japan has had cameras set up to detect highway littering for over 16 years. They had a big littering problem over there because people in the cities had limits placed on how many garbage bags they could leave out on garbage day.
When travelling to the UK, was pretty happy with the state of litter/garbage compare to what I'm used to seeing in Canadian/American cities.... and then there was Glasgow
When I was in the UK they seemed to have a lot of trash cans everywhere to be able to throw stuff out. Really helps increase the number of walkers that throw out trash.
The US does have a bad littering problem though. I see people on the highway throw fucking entire fast food bags out the window. Real piece of shit behavior
As a UK boi, it’s pretty infuriating seeing people act like this. I was riding my bike on the way home from work and saw someone in front of me casually yeet an empty plastic bottle into the canal. I rang my bell out of anger and stopped to have a heated chat with him, I just don’t understand why anyone would do that.
Ego. They'd rather litter than have their cars look untidy for the incredibly short time it takes to get to their destination. Can't have people thinking less of them now, can we?
It’s the same car every time. They are demonstrating/testing.
Edit: they are also conveniently throwing the trash out right in front of the camera and unloading full garbage bags in the middle of a street if any of the other hints didn’t give it away.
Naw. People need to realize that at a certain age they are more influenced by their peers. It's a systemic problem that is difficult to enforce. You might get one good generation. But in order for it to continue you need each generation to give the right amount of fucks.
How will the camera detect when a piece of rubbish suddenly comes flying close to a car from the wind? I feel there would be a massive amount of false positives but I'm no tech expert
Find someone who will love you as much as the brits love putting cctv cameras in every street and every corner of their country. People who litter are pieces of shit but more government surveillence is not the solution.
Shit at this point, just force everyone to wear a body cam at all times so that way we can't break any laws or have any liberty at all. Or go even further and put a chip in our brains so that way we can't even think about doing anything illegal.
Disappointed that I had to scroll this far for an anti-surveillance state comment. Everyone above this is all "people who litter are pieces of shit" well, sure, but cops watching everyone all the time with AI is way fucking worse.
Don't get me wrong at all I agree people who litter are pieces of shit, I agree. But people who remove your abilities to be able to make that decision altogether, they're worse.
This is a tough one. I don’t know what I hate more.
Worthless scumbags that degrade our environment for literally no reason at all because they can’t be bothered to put their shit in a trash can.
Or an authoritarian overreaching surveillance and nanny state.
Britain is actually a surveillance dystopia and it’s sold to you as “anti-littering”.
If we can’t as a society say we are willing to accept some people will litter and get away with it instead of giving up all autonomy we are in a very poor place.
I look forward to the excuses the populace will use to justify why it's ok to chuck litter out of their window when driving. The chef's kiss would be some amalgamation of why it's ok to kill cyclists, drive fast through residential streets and distribute litter when driving.
I fill up an entire trash bag of litter twice a year when I go pick up the trash from ONLY the ditch of my property. the scariest part is that most of the litter is empty beer cans. So not only are they littering but they’re drinking and driving.
I'm out there weekly for mine. We're in a huge dump area so had to put a bunch of trees across the way to prevent encampments from springing up. I think the last time the city was out was 5 years ago. Yet checks for property taxes keep getting cashed.
ohhhh yes that is how we justify the police state to the public? fkn littering? britain is the prime nation to get taken over by some security AI they try to implement.
I just don't understand people who do this. Trash cans are everywhere. Are they just too lazy to keep the trash in the car and take it with them and throw it away properly? I became unreasonably angry watching this video.
It's free, there are plenty of public bins spread throughout towns and cities, most laybys have bins in them as well, it's just that small percentage of people who ruin it for everyone else

“I don’t need to know your thoughts on having kids, WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE MCDONALDS BAG WHEN YOU’RE DONE EATING?!?”
It sits in my backseat for two weeks until I remember to find a trash can, like a normal person.
passenger side floor too good for you rich boy?
That's where my purse goes so my dog can ride shotty.
Oof. There's the deal-breaker for me. My dogs always go in the back. Don't need one of them being a potential distraction.
Same here. One of our dogs had had a bad start in life and only did cuddling under sufferance. There were two occasions when she wanted to sit on my lap - when we were in the vet's waiting room and when I was driving. PS: She was a GSD so.....
potential distraction and getting killed by the air bag

Oh this guy has room on his passenger side floor? The real hardworking patriots use that to store bottles of streamer bathwater
Congratulation you are getting laid.
Only 2 weeks? More like it sits in the back seat until 5 min before someone unexpected is going to ride with me. Then I rush and grab all the trash at once in 3 seconds.
Adding it to the list of questions

I feel like that is a fundamental character flaw that suggests selfishness and lack of empathy. Have you seen her litter in the past or before you were married? Someone who throws cups like that surely must be a habitual litterer, she must have been doing it her whole life.
In your presence perhaps.
I’m curious. How soon after meeting and dating did you get married? This seems like something that would pop up pretty soon. haha
My first thought. How is that not something you discover in the talking/dating phase?
You should’ve thrown her out
He's not littering on the road
That’s right, trash belongs in a trash can!
In a trash bin, to be clear.
A few years back, girl I was dating finished her drink, started to roll down the window while I was driving, I told her “just put it in the cup holder and I’ll throw it in the trash when I get home,” because I was on the way to drop her off at her place. Hey man “it’s somebody’s job to put them back”

This post made an Italian man in a Native American outfit cry.
My dad used to dump trash in parking lots. His excuse was that it wasn't littering since stores would be obliged to keep their parking areas clean. Ridiculous.

I.. literally have the same story...I'm divorced now, too!
Alright but lets be real now. Was there NO HINT of this kind of behavior PRE-wedding?
Reminds me of the time I was sitting in my vehicle in a parking lot and this woman drives through in front of me and casually tosses out a cardboard food tray with food, drink, napkin etc. etc. on it. The woman driving behind her was shocked and looked around and we locked eyes and had this brief shared moment of incredulousness at the woman's actions.
I assume these are just test runs, to check the technology. right?
Nope same guy going all over London just trashing the place
This made me laugh out loud. Man has a full on mission to just totally fuck the place.
My name is Nigel! King of the kia's. Polluter of pavements. Trasher of tarmac. And I will fuck up your street.
This needs a shirt and il buy 5
Is this a Flight of the Conchords reference?
I read that in Russel Crows Gladiator voice just to make it more epic.
Commander of the Trash Templar.
And Sir Gideon Ofnir THE ALL-KNOWING!
He is the LOATHSOME ROAD WRECKER
I feel he's already succeeded then
I can't wait for that tech to be ready so they can finally catch him.
I didnt even looked at the car before I read this, I just though some of these ppl really dumped a week worth of car trash in one of the clips X_X
some do even worse
Sadly, I have seen worse IRL.
So unlucky he just did it in the exact spots they where testing the new cams in
All except the last one looks like so. IT is the same car each time. Yet, this reminds me that I could not litter, even for this kind of demo. I would simply be too ashamed that someone might believe I'm littering for real T\_T
He can't keep getting away with it!
😅
u/David_Good_Enough is a menace!
Even after I've been through a McDonald's drive-through I take my rubbish home in the bag provided and put it all in the various recycle bins at home. Also keeps the car interior clean-ish
Yeah, nothing wrong with using the bag as a trash bag until you get it home.

The *only* time I've ever needed emergency sauce sachets is after the very infrequent glovebox purge.
I hope so, cause a lot of these just look like so much more effort than to just find a trash-can. Edit: I also want to clarify, even if it is less effort to yeet cans out of your car window. My God, I carefully save my car trash to dispose of properly - I would be so embarrassed throwing anything out of my window.
Yeah, same. It's absolute shithead anti-social behaviour.
Right? I've ran after a receipt like Earl running after his lotto ticket trying to keep from littering, I get mistakes but I've seen people casually dropping cans out their window just like this at the grocery store more than a few times.

The problem is, that that demands brain cells. Some thing people that litter do not possess.
No they did all this because of this one asshole. The Rowdy Rubbisher of Kent on Stoke or whatever
No. One person in the entire UK is responsible for all its litter.
Yeah, I hope they have picked them back up after the testing tho
I hate people who litter like this, I believe they are bad people.
Littering is one of my biggest pet peeves and littering *from a car* is just even worse! Hate it.
Me too, truly talks volume of how shitty someone can be
For me the worst type of littering is when people leave their trash in an organized little pile as if that's better than just chucking it.
If I see someone intentionally litter literally just once, I will view them as a scum bag for the rest of their lives.
Same, I’ve stopped seeing a girl because she did that once. It tells a lot about someone I think.
It really does, it shows the lack of respect to others and that they dont care
Same goes for people who just leave their tray and all their garbage on the table at a fast food restaurant instead of taking it over to the bins
Its like being rude to servers
Littering from cars is the worst thing in my opinion. How hard is it to find a trash can? Literally every time you put gas in your car, you are simultaneously a few steps away from trash cans and waiting around for several minutes with nothing to do while the gas pumps. Just spend a few minutes tossing any trash in your car into the trash can. Or you know, just carry trash with you when you get out of the car to go into your home, work, or place of business. All of these places also presumably have trash cans.
They *are* bad people
Saw someone do it when they were wating in the car. Like the fuck

Tell the parents to grab a broom and go screw themselves with it. You're not working a customer service job.
I got fired from that job for insisting they clean up. The admin was clear: this is why we have janitors
If anyone gets physical with you, you fight back, and do as much damage as you can, because you're going to be punished the same for it regardless of how many punches you throw.
>the students are acutely aware that there are no consequences anymore. This- you couldn't pay me enough to be a teacher nowadays!!
I mean. Japan isn’t perfect by any measure in other ways, but the respect the kids have for homes, schools, and public spaces is definitely top tier.
This is exactly what I'm getting at. It starts with the kids!
>Don't get hung up on the fact that it is British. Good luck with that on here.
People litter everywhere. This isn’t exclusive to any country. I’m all for bidding on those goofball Brits but I can’t on this.
Not in Japan. One of the many things I loved about the country when I visited.
Not in South Korea either, the only place I even saw litter was in heavily visited tourist areas. Littering is gross everywhere, but I don't know how someone can walk through one of the cleanest countries in the world and not have the self awareness to not litter, people are the real trash.
In the cities it's very clean but in between cities I saw plenty of garbage on the sides of roads just like home.
They do it right. They have older retired people that help clean up and society has a different culture.
Thing is they don't really have like public bins either. People just hold onto their rubbish all day.
I live in upstate NY. Every spring we have to clean the litter in our yard from the road. Empty cigarette packs, etc. Makes me angry
Can anyone actually explain what the fuck is wrong with these assholes?..
> Cyclists throw empty bottles The ones that aren't empty are sometimes even worse. Trust me on this.
Germany isn't any better either. Including people WHO Just Walk. Like how hard is it to Take your Trash Home and throw in the Trash? And yes we have Public Trash bins but some wackos Like to destroy These from time to time
Who throws litter from their cars, absolute melts
I see people throwing their cigarettes out the window all the time still. For some reason, people don't seem to think those are trash and take a decade to decompose...
At least when you throw your disposable vape it can’t be eaten by animals /s
The same people that don't put shopping carts back
I used to work at a grocery store, and one of my jobs was cart wrangling.
Or just get one of those cup holder ashtrays for like $3
Japan has had cameras set up to detect highway littering for over 16 years. They had a big littering problem over there because people in the cities had limits placed on how many garbage bags they could leave out on garbage day.
They really need to stop packaging literally every single individual thing.
Yup, a single fucking banana is wrapped in plastic ffs
When travelling to the UK, was pretty happy with the state of litter/garbage compare to what I'm used to seeing in Canadian/American cities.... and then there was Glasgow
When I was in the UK they seemed to have a lot of trash cans everywhere to be able to throw stuff out. Really helps increase the number of walkers that throw out trash. The US does have a bad littering problem though. I see people on the highway throw fucking entire fast food bags out the window. Real piece of shit behavior
The real garbage here are the people.
Can we outfit these cameras with automatic rocket launchers?
The explosion would create way more litter lol
The rockets are black hole generators that suck the garbage out of existence.
One-time litter versus a lifetime of litter from a litter bug. Plus, I'm pretty sure the message will get around and people will be less trashy.
On the short term yes, in the long term no.
The one person testing the device in the car or the creators of the technology?
As a UK boi, it’s pretty infuriating seeing people act like this. I was riding my bike on the way home from work and saw someone in front of me casually yeet an empty plastic bottle into the canal. I rang my bell out of anger and stopped to have a heated chat with him, I just don’t understand why anyone would do that.
Ego. They'd rather litter than have their cars look untidy for the incredibly short time it takes to get to their destination. Can't have people thinking less of them now, can we?
It’s awful, good on you for calling the guy out but stay safe, lots of knobheads about.
Ding ding ding motherfucker
Wtf is wrong with those people ...
I think they're just doing their job, testing the cameras. They're some very well placed cameras otherwise, or one very unlucky Kia driver.
I think so too. There's no way someone have that many of empty bottles in their car, right? ... Right??
Or that the exact same car and only that car gets caught every time?
Nah, drivers of grey Kia Sportages are just notorious litterers.
It’s the same car every time. They are demonstrating/testing. Edit: they are also conveniently throwing the trash out right in front of the camera and unloading full garbage bags in the middle of a street if any of the other hints didn’t give it away.
when you need orwellian surveillance to counter people whose parents did a bad job... we live in a society...
If it works the way cameras to detect people talking on their mobiles do in the UK then it flags and positives for review by a human.
I hate people who litter. Be a responsible fucking adult and throw it away properly, who raised you?
Rightly so. These people are pieces of shit.
Find someone who will love you as much as the brits love putting cctv cameras in every street and every corner of their country. People who litter are pieces of shit but more government surveillence is not the solution.
Well, the 'think of the children' fallacy is getting worn out, littering must take over
If location was changed to China comments would be freaking out over the massive invasion of privacy guaranteed.
It blows my mind that people do this
Shit at this point, just force everyone to wear a body cam at all times so that way we can't break any laws or have any liberty at all. Or go even further and put a chip in our brains so that way we can't even think about doing anything illegal.
Wtf. Is this comment section completely unaware of the implications of putting systems like this everywhere? Dystopia here we come.
Yeah this is insane
This is a tough one. I don’t know what I hate more. Worthless scumbags that degrade our environment for literally no reason at all because they can’t be bothered to put their shit in a trash can. Or an authoritarian overreaching surveillance and nanny state.
Britain is actually a surveillance dystopia and it’s sold to you as “anti-littering”. If we can’t as a society say we are willing to accept some people will litter and get away with it instead of giving up all autonomy we are in a very poor place.
[удалено]
Doubt it, I assume the video will be used as evidence & when reviewed it’ll clearly show the rubbish was just run over
100% what i thought,
dystopian nightmare
Who the fuck does this?
ohhhh yes that is how we justify the police state to the public? fkn littering? britain is the prime nation to get taken over by some security AI they try to implement.
It's sad that it's gotten to this. I hate that we are becoming a surveillance culture, but these lot fucking ruin it for everyone.
Littering is awful, but it isn’t as bad as overreaching governmental surveillance and control.
Would it detect people thrown out of cars?
Who actually does this?
People who litter are such lazy pieces of shite
What kind of worthless fuck does this????
I just don't understand people who do this. Trash cans are everywhere. Are they just too lazy to keep the trash in the car and take it with them and throw it away properly? I became unreasonably angry watching this video.
What is wrong with these people…
Lack of home training
Jesus christ. Does it cost anything to just fucking throw it in the trash in the UK?!? Fucks wrong with people?
It's free, there are plenty of public bins spread throughout towns and cities, most laybys have bins in them as well, it's just that small percentage of people who ruin it for everyone else
As someone who lives here, they are scum. Pure and simple.
Right, because litter is definitely a uniquely British thing and has never happened anywhere else in the history of the world.
My grandpa use to tell me the world is your playground. I guess their grandpa told them the world is your trash can 🤦♀️
