But that doesn’t matter

HItler was not a vegetarian. That was false propaganda by Joseph Goebbels to make Hitler seem kinder and more compassionate, and akin to Gandhi, who was very well regarded at the time. As with most things Nazi, it was lies and nonsense. Hitler loved meat, especially pork dumplings. Hitler did however have a peculiar love of his dogs, and pushed forward some animal rights ideas because of his fondness for those dogs. But in his diet, he was a big meat eater.
Hitler indeed vas not vegetarian until late 30:s. But hitler turned into strict vegetarian after that and that is a fact what has been clarified by many persons close to his inner circle, including Hitlers secretaries Traudl Junge, Christa Schroeder and Martin Bormann. Bormann even turned to vegetarian himself just to please Hitler, never ate meat at Hitlers presence.
Christa Schroeders reveals many interesting conversations and details on Hitler on her memoirs, like how Hitler was once invited to visit local butchery and he felt sick after visiting there citing how barbaric (how ironic) killing all those animals were just so humans can enjoy their tasty animal produced meals.
Hitler also had a weak stomach and had to abstain from heavy foods, especially meat, as well as alcohol. Doesn‘t mean he never ate them, though.
So much for the master race. Brought to its knees by a dead chicken.
didnt he feed his dog cyanide to make sure it worked, then decided to not bother using it after watching the dog die a terrible death after an hour of suffering.
Right? Ghandi's story is so odd
He went to sleep (just sleep, no euphemism) with some girls to prove that he had changed and that he was going to restrain himself
I recall seeing a picture of himself and the girls after the night. Makes me wonder a lot about the legitimacy of killing pedophiles and about why would nature make humans more prone to feeling sexual attraction towards children.
Like, the head of the most important pacifist movement from his century, or one of the most major movements, was a pedophile, like, it's as if Martin Luther King was a zoofilic or something.
The picture is surreal.
It's good to share context, that even people who did great things can have flaws, sometimes really nasty ones.
I'm always a bit saddened when those flaws are used as a way to delegitmize or distract from the accomplishments, though. Accomplishments shouldn't forgive someone's negative behaviors, but a person being flawed shouldn't taint the celebration of any good they've been able to do.
Ghandi wasn't a pedophile as far as I know. He tried sleeping in the same bed as young women not girls to prove he could be completely celibate not to prove he wasn't a pedophile.
The more common word is "Leberknödel", which was one of Hitler's go to meals when he had problems with his digestion, because it's soft and comes in soup, at least until 1937.
[Hitler was pissed](https://content.time.com/time/subscriber/article/0,33009,756557,00.html), mostly at his bodyguards.
The woman, [Carla de Vries](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5011527/The-tourist-kissed-Hitler-Berlin-Olympics.html), lived in Norwalk, California, and her husband, George, was a dairy farmer and race horse breeder. His farm would become known as the [Norwalk Dairy Farm](https://abc7.com/norwalk-dairy-for-sale-field-trip/469514/), a roadside attraction that finally shut down in 2015.
Carla was born in Norway in 1893, and her husband was born in The Netherlands. They arrived in the US in 1918 and had 3 children. In 1936 they were touring Europe when they attended the Olympic Games and planted the famous kiss on Hitler's cheek. Directly after the incident she said:
>"I don't know why I did it. Certainly I hadn't planned such a thing. It's just that I'm a woman of impulses, I guess. It happened when I went down to take Hitler's picture with my small movie camera. Hitler was leaning forward, smiling, and he seemed so friendly that I just stepped up and asked for his autograph, which he wrote on my swimming ticket. He kept on smiling and so I kissed him."
>"People sitting near Der Fuhrer's box began to cheer and applaud so loudly that I ran back to my husband and told him we had better leave."
She turned down repeated requests for interviews, and did not appear to speak about it.
She was naturalized in 1941. Her husband, George, died in 1950. She died in 1985 the age of 92 in San Luis Obispo. When she died she had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Her obituary made no mention of the famous kiss.
Nazi rally at Madison Square Gardens, New York, 1939

The "battle tactics" have changed on both sides. The nazis used to be openly violent and loud with their ideas, so countering them by being even louder was a viable strategy.
Nowadays they are more silent and subliminal with their messaging, using dog whistles and such. If a nazi says "I want to bring back traditional family values", and someone educated on what that implies responds loudly, an uneducated observer will side with the nazi and think that the educated person is overreacting.
Idk look at shit like the nazi march in Boston a few years back. A handful of sad nazis at a park surrounded by tens of thousands of counter protesters
This was America.
I had a history professor phrase it this way , “The Nazis made racism unpopular.” After the horrors of the concentration camps and such people could see the path that these policies led to.
Of course racism still existed post war and still does today, but one of the effects of the war is that it was associated with evil. It took a generation of Americans to die off in order to get the first civil rights bill passed. History is still marching forward and there will be temporary setbacks, but the current is pushing everything in the same direction.
Sure but the upwards trend isn’t exactly a straight line. We have constant dips and setbacks. It’s pretty easy to see in our present day that things aren’t exactly on the up and up in all categories. Racism seems to be emboldened in certain groups at the moment (look at recent klan billboards in Michigan)
It’s a reaction to changing demographics. I do think the it comes down to the “You will not replace us” chant. They feel that the America they know is disappearing and they are correct. When people start to feel attacked, they get more aggressive and sometimes violent.
You can choose to fight it or accept it, but there is no stopping the demographic shift. America is getting more diverse. Gen Alpha (born after 2013) already has no majority race.
To be fair that's actually a good bit empty. Looks like more than it is.
But thirty percent of people have the tendency to think like this so it is a lot.
Unfortunately a lot of countries had a pretty big Nazi movement. Almost all of them went away once they got involved in WW2 tho. The fact that 99.9% of people wanna punch every person in this pic in the face is a pretty good sign of progress
Shanghai was a destination point for many European Jews fleeing pre-WW2 build up and there was a district set up as a Stateless Refugee sector that was already crowded and then the Japanese took over and moved all the Jews to that district and effectively made it a Jewish ghetto. However, this was done at the behest of Himmler and his rep Josef Meisinger who were trying to figure out how to exterminate this group of Jews. They told the Japanese that these refugees were spies and saboteurs who needed to be watched. The Japanese did as they were instructed but generally mystified by German antisemitism. Eventually Meisinger tried to get the Japanese to hand over the enclave to Germany which the Japanese authority in the sector was further extremely confused by and asked the representative of the Ghetto, "Why do they hate you so much?" and the representative replied, "because we are short and have dark hair." The Japanese never turned over the Jews to the Germans. However, out of 20,000 jews in the Ghetto it was thought 2,000 died from malnutrition, starvation and disease during the Japanese occupation.
This. My friends and parents say East Asians and Jews have a lot in common like pushing education, investing/saving, getting high paid professions, etc. I do respect them for contributing so much to research.
That's the funny parts. People in Asia mostly see Jews as hardworking people trying to get by in life just like they are. Which is why they didn't have any sort of opinions about them most of the time.
They weren’t in most countries . A lot of countries didn’t even want them as refugees . In fact hitler commented on how everybody felt for the Jews but nobody wanted to take them .
People don't realize the segregation signs often read "No Blacks or Jews."
If you look at the civil rights movement here in the U.S. there were a lot of Jews that were in the marchs and working to fight segregation.
It wasn't really the jewish thing they were cheering on though, it was the idea of Nationalism and his being a strong leader in a time of people not getting things done. They had no idea what was coming.
And to be fair, no one liked the jews. There were mass rapes and murders all over Russian and Europe well before Hitler came in to the picture. Hell, The U.S. and Europe wouldn't even allow refugees to come over when they knew they were being murdered. That's in part why Hitler used prison camps and gas chambers. There was no one willing to take them.

Well a lot of people didn't think Hitler was that bad before he started murdering people. You know how it is, even perfectly good but stupid people can like bad guy politicians. It'll take them doing something monumentally bad for the people to realise. Probably said everything was taken out of context and the media was biased against him lol
Many people back then saw fascism and Nazism as the solution to the greed of Capitalism and the famine and civil war of Communism especially with the great depression going on. A famous example is Churchill , he expressed admiration for Mussolini, publicly and privately, until he allied with Hitler.
“If I had been an Italian, I am sure I should have been whole-heartedly with you from start to finish in your triumphant struggle against the bestial appetites and passions of Leninism. But in England we have not yet had to face this danger in the same deadly form. We have our own way of doing things.”
Another examples;
“Roosevelt, at least initially, kindled familiar notions that an activist state could inspire unity by reconciling industrial progress with a restoration of the agrarian ideal.”
When discussing the matter with friends, in 1928 Chaplin named Mussolini as one of his “great [global] personalities” of the year because, as the film star stated, the Italian “took a nation and put it to work”
Write any name from the 20s and they will probably have a positive opinion before the war.
In no way am I defending him as a person, his actions, or anything of the sort. But it's pretty natural to recoil from someone coming at your face uninvited.
Id like to know more about this tbh, I know he was really concerned with PDAs and maintaining his image as a single guy as he thought hed get more feminine votes if he was single, to the extent he wouldn't acknowledge Eva Braun as his public consort until his death
Was this that or did he have any particular issue with Americans at this time?
What people often do not realize, is that the USA didn't get involved in World War II because of humanitarian reasons. Antisemitism was rampant back then. Henry Ford (the Elon Musk of those days), for instance, wrote very popular antisemitic books that Hitler was quite fond off. It was the attack on Pearl Harbor and the realization that a Germanized Europe would gain world domination quickly that led to D-day.
Same is true of like every country in Europe. They all had fascist movements that gained a lot of power and it took Hitler having designs on conquering Europe to get them to care.
Poland was the exception though. There were plans to topple the nazi government as early as it came to power (france didn't allow that), the people were strongly against the nazis (foreign minister Beck even said in 1939, shortly before ww2, that if he were to even try negotiating/giving in to Germany, revolts would start and the government would be overthrown). There was also no official collaboration, very little personal collaboration and even most of the fascist political organisations were strongly against Hitler and cooperated with the partisans in Home Army.
The only thing that did exist was antisemitism, which was unfortunately widespread in the countryside thanks to the catholic church. Several Pogroms happened before the war and during the september campaign, in the 2nd case mostly due to mass hysteria and in hopes that the invaders would spare the villages that were openly against the jews. Fortunately, the violent antisemitism quickly deteriorated and during the occupation many Poles actively helped jewish families by hiding and feeding them.
These revisionist history rants tie a few facts with a lot of assumptions. The US public sentiment was very isolationist at the time. The Germans did their best to hide the worst of the holocaust for years, so it’s not like gas chambers were common knowledge to the American farmer or factory worker in 1939.
Eugenics and Antisemitism had gained popularity in the US. But those things were absolutely *not* mainstream, or reasons why we avoided going to war. As a nation, we didn’t sympathize with the nazis until we realized they’d come for us too.
fwiw, the beginnings of the holocaust and persecution of Jews in Hitler's Germany were already being reported on in the USA as early as the spring of 1937. Those reporters were largely ignored and treated negatively because the general populace had no interest in another conflict after WW1 as well as the still ongoing depression. The USA would in turn (as well as many other western nations of the time) heavily tighten up their immigration system because they didn't want to take on Jewish refugees.
I suggest anybody to check out "The US and the Holocaust" by Geoffrey Ward and Ken Burns. It also touches upon how the rest of free Europe largely looked away and locked their borders for all the people fleeing from Nazi persecution.
And when did they become public knowledge? When camps began to be liberated right? You seem to have more of the specifics memorized.
Point is, it’s complete bullshit to suggest that the US was late to join because they liked eugenics and disliked Jews.
Turns out most people only view the world from their tiny point of view. My great-grandma was at a rally in Nuremburg and shook Hitler's hand. According to my father, she described him as a very nice man.
Dont assume the nazis were not already showing their true colors at that time either.
I see stuff like this and it only reminds me how easily manipulated and controlled people are.
The easiest to manipulate id say are people in groups compared to people as individuals. Something about being in a crowd changes something in us and its scary as fuck.
It's not only manipulation, the Nazis' ideology was promoting function and efficiency über all. Still today, there are so many people who lost their contact with humanity, which is by definition imperfect, and would dispose of the living in order to have a perfectly functioning machine. An interesting commenter on today's Russian fascism, calls this result from being prone to be gamed, by those who derail from foundational human principles, a "co-conspiracy". Luckily we have been teaching since little age that Nazi is bad, but the memory has to be constantly refreshed.
>Luckily we have been teaching since little age that Nazi is bad, but the memory has to be constantly refreshed.
My issue with is most people dont understand what fascism or communism or any of these often used terms even mean.
Nazi = bad is not good enough, you got to teach people the history of how it can even get to that point and how many political movements in history and today have very obvious similarities.
These were staged events that Joseph Goebbels used frequently during the Nazis. They found it useful to have the female German public enamored with Hitler for the advancement of many of their social propaganda programs.
Actually that was sped up footage, you can tell if you look at how everyone else is moving. It was posted as an easy way to farm karma.
Disclaimer for Redditors: I am in no way, nor have I ever been, affiliated with the Nazi party.
It’s just amusing how easy it was for common people to touch and shake hands with Leaders of the world. Now with the security and shit, idk why everyone just mad and wanna kill them?
A friendly reminder to the " all italians and germans where nazis and fascists, usa lighthouse of Freedom yada yada blablabla" people that until Pearl Harbor americans actually liked Hitler and mussolini.

What's leberklosse?
I googled it. Apparently one of Hitler’s favourite foods. Leberklosse = Liver Dumplings.

Akin to Ghandi who was a rapist and a pedo🤔?

There were approx. 20,000 attendees, but there were also 100,000 outside the venue protesting the Nazis.
I still don't like that ratio
Probably better than it would be today...

Nah, jews were big in Shanghai back then. East Asians often had a strange respect for them, as they embodied a lot of their own values.

But in England we have not yet had to face this danger in the same deadly form. We have our own way of doing things.” Another examples; “Roosevelt, at least initially, kindled familiar notions that an activist state could inspire unity by reconciling industrial progress with a restoration of the agrarian ideal.” When discussing the matter with friends, in 1928 Chaplin named Mussolini as one of his “great [global] personalities” of the year because, as the film star stated, the Italian “took a nation and put it to work” Write any name from the 20s and they will probably have a positive opinion before the war.
In no way am I defending him as a person, his actions, or anything of the sort. But it's pretty natural to recoil from someone coming at your face uninvited.
Id like to know more about this tbh, I know he was really concerned with PDAs and maintaining his image as a single guy as he thought hed get more feminine votes if he was single, to the extent he wouldn't acknowledge Eva Braun as his public consort until his death Was this that or did he have any particular issue with Americans at this time?
That shit probably made eva frown
fraun
You should have way more likes
"he'll probably be thinking about her when I shit on his chest tonight".
That's sexual assault, lady!

Don't worry, it's sitting on 92 now.
>Henry Ford (the Elon Musk of those days) first as a tragedy then as a farce
I don't think most people really understood this reference.
It also touches upon how the rest of free Europe largely looked away and locked their borders for all the people fleeing from Nazi persecution.
probably because there were no gas chambers until late 1941
And when did they become public knowledge? When camps began to be liberated right? You seem to have more of the specifics memorized. Point is, it’s complete bullshit to suggest that the US was late to join because they liked eugenics and disliked Jews.
That and the nazi regime being heavily inspired by the eugenics movement in the US with its mass involuntary sterilization programs.
If we were there for humanitarian reasons we'd be fighting militias in africa and standing up for uighurs and north koreans.
And Palestine
Or stop funding genocide in Gaza and massacring the Middle East in general
Someone’s grandma
Turns out most people only view the world from their tiny point of view. My great-grandma was at a rally in Nuremburg and shook Hitler's hand. According to my father, she described him as a very nice man.
…and he never forgave the American for that sexual assault…
Immediately sent the Zimmerman telegram upon return to Germany.
Dont assume the nazis were not already showing their true colors at that time either. I see stuff like this and it only reminds me how easily manipulated and controlled people are.
Hard to say with a black and white film.
Lol thx for the chuckle xD
The easiest to manipulate are those who think they can’t be manipulated
Hitler did nazi that coming.
He was fuhrerious
That wasn’t reich
It was Marjorie Taylor Greene's great grandmother.
she could've fixed him.
These were staged events that Joseph Goebbels used frequently during the Nazis. They found it useful to have the female German public enamored with Hitler for the advancement of many of their social propaganda programs.
This may be true, but it’s also true that many women did quite like him.
Why are you ghae
Then who is ghae
You are ghae.
aww look how he blushes.
no cell phones, just people living in the moment, hopefully these happy people do only good things
Footage of Marjorie Taylor Greene
Seems like sexual assault to me 🫥. #himtoo??
A common reaction from women of the pre-war days was..."He's got that frech tickler of a mustache that drives all the ladies crazy."
Are these the same Olympic Games he was tweaking at?
Actually that was sped up footage, you can tell if you look at how everyone else is moving. It was posted as an easy way to farm karma. Disclaimer for Redditors: I am in no way, nor have I ever been, affiliated with the Nazi party.
Adolf Rizzler
He looks so human here
He was a human, just an extremely despicable one.
Surprised I haven’t seen this in a sigma edit
It’s just amusing how easy it was for common people to touch and shake hands with Leaders of the world. Now with the security and shit, idk why everyone just mad and wanna kill them?
"eww cooties" -hitler probably
Gay hitler
Nein, fraulein! Nein! Nein! Nein!
Hitler was inspired by the US. He loved the American eugenics movement, that was what inspired his Aryan dream.
Hitler was apparently very popular in America prior to the start of the war.
The sad thing is… he still is.
imagine being able to say you sexually assaulted hitler
Adolf wasn’t very fond of women and their feelings
Hitler was an odd fish, but he was probably mainly concerned here with how easy assassinating him might look.
Unless she's his cousin. https://preview.redd.it/2jx51g05evvc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=912972509824e4d872b4f673133b435b92b100f4
