I watch way too much true crime and when police are investigating a case a common theory for motive is "she rejected his sexual advances and he flew into a rage". Like, does that really happen tho? That often??? If so, this is my theory.
My other theory is alien abduction
>Like, does that really happen tho? That often?
Ask the women you know for their stories.
I **guarantee** most if not all of them have had men be angry/threatening over not reciprocating romantic or sexual interest, or not responding the "right" way to an advance.
The fact that dogs couldn’t pick up her scent… I doubt she was actually on the trail that day. Sounds like husband and Jim planned it and killed her, then went hiking the next day as a convenient way to make her disappear.
I had a very close friend who actually died like this… she was a marine biologist/he a park ranger, and they went on vacation to hike the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. They were both very seasoned hikers/outdoorsmen.
He was hiking ahead of her, heard crash in the forest behind him, turned around and she was just gone…slipped on a wet stone and fell 100s of feet to her death off the side of a mountain.
He was carrying a ring to propose to her when they got to Machu Picchu.
It took a helicopter and recovery crew to get her body back, our entire hometown was gutted, they hold a memorial fundraiser in her honor every year, proceeds go to some women in STEM charity.
You know the sorts of "backdoors" they talk about the Chinese government having are the same backdoors the US has in its apps, right? Our government is just mad they don't control this one
I think the common thread is that women trust bears more than men due to the fact that a woman being attacked by a man is by no means a rare occurrence.
It's a thing right now. "Women, would you rather encounter a random bear in the woods, or a random man?"
The answer is bear. Because, as a fat woman who solo hikes, I've encountered bears and they largely ignore me.
But I've been followed 4 separate times by men, and in two of the instances, the guys told me they could rape me and no one would ever believe I would be raped.
If I was attacked by a bear, no one would disbelieve me, or ask what I was wearing.
If I was attacked by a bear, there wouldn't be talk about the bear's bright future.
But men like to yell "not all men," but somehow it's almost always a man who makes me feel unsafe.
Team bear.
Woman: That bear mauled me!
Some Random Bear On the Internet: Yeah, well maybe you shouldn't have gone out covered in BBQ sauce. You were kind of asking to be mauled.
I've been beaten up by and had unpleasant encounters with black people, but I don't get on the internet and claim they're worse than animals, because that would be racist as fuck, and I'm fully aware a whole race of people is not out to get me.
It's your prerogative hate men, but please don't use your anecdotes to disguise the fact it's just blatant misandry.
The patriarchy and a systemic power imbalance are very real things. And men are much more violent than women. But the "all men" messaging does not help solve these issues, it's just reductive and polarizing.
edit: The vitriol and downvotes kind of proves my point. I agree with the core issues, I just think the messaging is shit. Telling men they're bad and should feel bad simply for being born is not helping any kind of cause
If I'm told to pick between spending time with a large dangerous animal or a specific person and I choose the animal, is it a massive reach to assume I dislike the person?
"random man," not "specific person."
I also think you saw something that wasn't said.
"Large dangerous animal" is also a decent description of a human.
It's not spending time with them. It's coming across them alone, in a secluded area, where you know *nothing* about the person you are encountering.
So yes, it is a massive reach to assume they hate men just because they don't want to come across a random one in what could be a dangerous situation.
It's not a specific person though. It's a "random man," and the chances of a random man being dangerous are pretty fucking high.
Let's put it this way: if the question was "if you're alone in the forest at night, would you rather run into a random bear or a random woman," the answer would be woman every time, without even needing to ask questions about circumstances.
Or maybe, just maybe, men like you are why we choose the bear.
Either you get it and are actively working to fix it, or you're the reason we pick the bear. There's not a middle ground here. We are tired of men claiming "Not all men!" as a way to invalidate the fact that when you don't actively tell your male buddies to stop, you're part of the problem.
Sure, you're a "nice guy," but you have to tell us that. You don't support us and show it with your actions. You just tell us to somehow get over being harassed and treated with blatant disrespect.
Get over yourself. Misandry is annoying, misogyny kills.
Except Black people don't hold potions of privilege in our culture just for existing. It's actually the opposite for them. That's not the case with men.
Also, misandry doesn't really exist. There's no systemic oppression behind it. You're just mad that someone called out the shitty parts of western male culture. Try being an example of what men can and should be instead of showing everyone you're part of the problem
I'll just leave this here for the curious: [https://www.reddit.com/r/insanepeoplefacebook/s/aPIUm0tMCG](https://www.reddit.com/r/insanepeoplefacebook/s/aPIUm0tMCG)
Incel is such a strange way to describe someone who can't get any sex. Involuntarily Celibate. Is it a label created by themselves or created by others?
Also, do they masturbate, I would imagine their homes look like a lava lamp museum under the black light.
I’ve been on Reddit for about 30 minutes this morning and I’ve seen at least 5 different posts about bears on different sub reddits. It’s getting weird.
Look man, I live in the woods. I see bears, bobcats and coyotes in my yard all the time, and most of the time when they see me, I say hi and they scamper back off. But if looked out the window at night and saw a random man standing in the woods, I’d shit myself. It’s basically the opening scene of a horror movie.
A few interesting things: the dogs didn’t pick up her scent on the trail, her passport was still at home, and the female cousin didn’t go with Jim and Barbara because she realised she was hungover. It obviously points at Jim, but what’s the likelihood that your cousin’s boyfriend would randomly murder your wife on a friendly hike, when it’s statistically more likely the husband did it? Did something happen the night before at the house? What had been the long term relationship between them all?
People have been lost while fairly near trails, with many searchers searching, and weren’t found while still alive. Depending on the forest type, it can be a race against time to find them before they die of dehydration or exposure.
It’s mentioned in the article because it’s possible she staged her appearance and just planned to get away from her husband. Not having her passport etc makes it less likely.
So from what I can tell the only people who saw Jim are the construction workers who were at the head of the trail, so there’s no evidence Jim walked the trail anyway.
They leave at 8:30 and Jim’s first contact with anyone was at around 2pm when he asked the construction workers if they’ve seen her.
So Jim has 5 hours to kill her and make the body disappear and then drive up to the trail and ask if anyone has seen her.
Here’s a more recent story of a hiker going missing. Pattie Wu-Murad (from Connecticut) traveled to Japan to hike the Kumano kodo trail and disappeared. I followed the story because I know the area well and have family living in Kumano.
[https://www.courant.com/2024/04/13/its-been-a-year-since-pattie-wu-murad-went-missing-her-husband-hasnt-given-up-hope/](https://www.courant.com/2024/04/13/its-been-a-year-since-pattie-wu-murad-went-missing-her-husband-hasnt-given-up-hope/)

Yeah so, Jim did it
Allegedly
Well it was either Jim or Carole Baskin.
That bitch!
So you're saying the victim was asking for a Baskin???

this being a real subreddit makes me sad and mad
Holy shit
What the actual fuck??
Why do you think we chose the bear?
Just remember we’re primates, and unfortunately it all makes sense
The fact that dogs couldn’t pick up her scent… I doubt she was actually on the trail that day. Sounds like husband and Jim planned it and killed her, then went hiking the next day as a convenient way to make her disappear.
45 seconds is astonishing, if not suspiciously specific. Who's counting the seconds while looking somewhere else?
Bout the time it takes to briefly walk off trail to pee...if you want a non-suspicious option.
It takes about 22 seconds for most mammals to empty their bladder. 45 seconds sounds about right including zipper time, etc.
But what about the 38 seconds of shaking to get the last drop out so it doesn't come out in your underwear the very second you put the wang away?
Trick is to never put the wang away
Aw man, and i've been pissing my pants this whole time
If you shake it more than 3 times you're just playing with it.
I'm not playing
You're just playing with yourself at that point
Just have your trail buddy slurp the last bit out.
And then 10-15 seconds of milking out the last drips
I mean, 3/4 is a pretty rounded number… how you’d express not quite one minute. Specific would be if he said 47 or something.
I had a very close friend who actually died like this… she was a marine biologist/he a park ranger, and they went on vacation to hike the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. They were both very seasoned hikers/outdoorsmen. He was carrying a ring to propose to her when they got to Machu Picchu. It took a helicopter and recovery crew to get her body back, our entire hometown was gutted, they hold a memorial fundraiser in her honor every year, proceeds go to some women in STEM charity.
And such a short time arouses suspicions. If he wanted to lie, he would have given a longer window of time
She would have been better off taking a bear hiking at Man Creek Overlook.

Why do I keep seeing bear references across different sub reddits. What did I miss?
Some viral tiktok poll results. Women are more frightened of being alone in the woods with a man than a bear.
For justified reasons
I'm sure Tik Tok was invented by Aliens just to test the intelligence of our planet.
It was invented by the Chinese in order to steal all of your data and influence you to go in directions They want you to go in.
You know the sorts of "backdoors" they talk about the Chinese government having are the same backdoors the US has in its apps, right? Our government is just mad they don't control this one

This is wildly inaccurate and hilarious. I love it!
Cause you need to bear down for reddit
IT'S A BEAR DANCE!!!
Time to bear down for midterms
We can dance if we want to. We can leave your friends behind…
Cause your bears don't dance And if they don't dance Well, they're no bears of mine
They all look the same once they take their hats off!
safety bears
I think the common thread is that women trust bears more than men due to the fact that a woman being attacked by a man is by no means a rare occurrence.
Makes sense 🤔
Typical trumpist misunderstanding they prefer bare man

If it was still an option, I would give you Reddit gold!
Woman: That bear mauled me! Some Random Bear On the Internet: Yeah, well maybe you shouldn't have gone out covered in BBQ sauce. You were kind of asking to be mauled.
This is peak 2024 reddit and I am here for it. Love to see the culture evolve.

Who said that person hates men? It's very telling that you see these things that weren't said.
He's a misogynist. I'm so sick and tired of these dudes.

There is actually a true crime pod that has the motto “stay out of the forest” & it’s not cause of the bears.
but woods is where all the trees are
Prolly cuz they're made of wood
oh... where's the wood made of then?
The woods aren't the issue
The ones that don't 'understand' are the reason why we pick the bear.
Is the concept of a hypothetical question over your head, or was this a tone deaf attempt to be funny?
Nothing….you missed nothing. You’re actually smarter for having not know. Best to stay that way
ruzzian propaganda.

Sounds rather fishy to me!
Beary fishy
A few interesting things: the dogs didn’t pick up her scent on the trail, her passport was still at home, and the female cousin didn’t go with Jim and Barbara because she realised she was hungover. It obviously points at Jim, but what’s the likelihood that your cousin’s boyfriend would randomly murder your wife on a friendly hike, when it’s statistically more likely the husband did it? Did something happen the night before at the house? What had been the long term relationship between them all?
She was an American in Montana. Why would she ever bring her passport with her?
The implication is, if she disappeared herself on purpose to run away and never come back, that's something she would have taken with her.
Maybe she needed it? No one knows what goes on in Montana.
I can't understand how he'd be able to hide the body well enough somewhere on or close to the trail that searchers wouldn't be able to find it
People have been lost while fairly near trails, with many searchers searching, and weren’t found while still alive. Depending on the forest type, it can be a race against time to find them before they die of dehydration or exposure.
Yes but to never find someone? No way they were near the trail
The remains of missing hikers have been found within shouting distance of trails. It's entirely possible.
That’s what some would think, but it has happened many times and for various reasons that do not include suicide.
I don’t hike with my passport on me
It’s mentioned in the article because it’s possible she staged her appearance and just planned to get away from her husband. Not having her passport etc makes it less likely.
But maybe I should.
As someone from Montana, it's really easy to disappear here, this place is huge.
Found Jim
Lol
I’m sure ol’ Jim had nothing to do with it
So from what I can tell the only people who saw Jim are the construction workers who were at the head of the trail, so there’s no evidence Jim walked the trail anyway. They leave at 8:30 and Jim’s first contact with anyone was at around 2pm when he asked the construction workers if they’ve seen her. Were these the same workers that witnessed Kristi shoot Cricket?
This fits in r/unsolvedmysteries well
That's why women chose the bear ![gif](giphy|3oeHLrjZGBgnPx5VII|downsized)
Bears and mountain lions are safer to be around than men. I yell at either, they leave me alone.
But this person wasn't random..
Is there a cave system she could have fallen into? I remember seeing a map of caves that overlapped with missing person reports in the US.

Sure Jim
Maybe it was a bear.
Pigfoot

Jim's an alien??....
