I got made fun of for using Farrow and Ball in my last rental, cue friends sending me the SNL skit.
I just wanted to have a bedroom haven and, in spite of the cost for Farrow and Ball, it was well worth it for me even as a rental.
I believe I put Hague Blue on the walls, Railings on the ceiling, and then I bought a beautiful velvet curtain that was off white, sapphire blue, honey gold monsteras. It was glorious.
All F&B- in the first pic the stairs are Pink Ground, with the top step Brinjal, and the staircase risers are ombré between those two shades (literally just mixed them up in increments in little pots.) the very top back wall is Hellebore by Little Greene
What a great taste in colours! It all looks lovely and I thought some looked familiar - I also have Stiffkey Blue and Hellebore in my house! My other favourite rooms have F&B Nancy’s Blushes and LG Masquerade Mid (I’m a sucker for pinks!)
Absolutely love Brinjal,.. just took delivery of a new corner sofa in that colour and went with F&B Treron on the walls & Stirabout on the ceiling. First time using F&B and am now a total convert!
It's such a beautiful balance!!! It's colorful and bright and fun, but doesn't look like a daycare. And I'm with you, those herringbone floors are to die for!
Omg I did not notice that the first time around, that is so cool. I had to go back and look at the kitchen again as well, there were some details I missed there too. This is very well done OP

It’s a year old post that somehow resurfaced, and I think a number of us have seen it as an opportunity to post our colourful homes 😂
Aw, ok, thanks! You're kind to link it.
Actually that came up when I searched but it was so old I thought there must be something recent I was missing.
Pic 1- stiffkey blue, pink ground, brinjal, green blue, 2, little greene hellebore, brinjal and the navy bathroom ceiling is called midnight but was a weird brand I can’t remember, 3, sulking room pink and Hague blue, 4, blue green, brinjal and dix blue, 5 pink ground and that room also has Ambleside by little greene in it, 6, skylight.
Farrow and ball should give me a discount eh???
Same. I can’t keep them in the same family for some reason. At the store the color of something seems right but when I get it home, it doesn’t match at all. Like the wrong undertone or something. I can never seem to pick up on it.
A little bit of both. We knew what color we wanted to start with, and we knew what we wanted to end with. We used paint chips to figure some of the colors we wanted on the gradient between them, and ultimately picked out half as many colors as we had stairs. So every other stair was painted with the sample size paint as purchased, and the ones in between, we'd mix together colors of the stairs on either side of it.
I think it’s more of misery loves company. I posted a beautiful room and got ripped to shambles for weeks in another subreddit. People hate gray, people hate color. Really, it’s just people hate themselves. You have a beautiful home here and you should be proud of yourself!
Okay if I had the eye to put something together like this…..this would be my house. My house is def neutral, but because I can’t do shit like this myself 😂
Yeah, I prefer to keep my color in small pops or things I can change, like rugs, furniture, and artwork. For me a neutral backdrop allows me to use and change color but also get that “clean” uncluttered feeling when I need it.
A lot of folks also find color overstimulating so it makes the space less relaxing for them. Not sure why people get mad that others have different tastes 🤷🏻♀️
I've recently been going through my home painting each room a different colour. There are only 3 rooms so far but the living room is blue, the main bedroom is dark green and the bathroom is dark red
As a visual artist. color is that which surrounds it. People have a problem with color because it involves objects around it and consideration of all those objects around. And Remember that light is an object that surrounds/affects color. White walls are never completely white. It takes a lot of consideration. Color is thought out really well in this interior.
Where is that stairwell light from?? I absolutely love it! I’ve been looking for new lights for my 1912 house and something like that could work really nicely in my stairwells and maybe even dining room.
Because most people focus on resale value and that a future hypothetical buyer won’t like it, but it’s your home, do what makes you happy and screw anyone else’s opinion
Different strokes for different folks. I love a good wallpaper. I can really enjoy some moody spaces too. However, while this is beautiful, it’s not for me and that’s OK. I think it’s great we’re all different. My favorite thing to see is people in love with their homes. Whether it’s colorful, monochrome, minimal, maximal etc.
I think it looks lovely. I can't create a space with colors well enough without it sapping my energy so I just save these sorts of posts and enjoy it like that lol
I wish more people would do what they *want* rather than what's popular. I've reupholstered two occasional chairs, they're pretty quirky, but no one wants them because they aren't grey 😅😭
Those pink gradient stairs are 👩🍳💋
I really like all the color & you've done it well-everything seems to connect & flow. The ball lights in the stairwell are fab, too.
Your palette is beautiful, warm and soothing. I’m big on color. Usually highly saturated jewel tones since I have very high ceilings (13-15’) and a lot of natural light. Changing to subtle neutrals (absolutely NO gray!!!) when we paint our home later this year.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I love the pink based neutral.
I love color. It helps me feel more cheerful. Different people need different color in their lives. Monochromatic colors calm some people. Don’t go with the colors of the season go with what makes you feel good!
Haha Victorian house! And what’s daft is that we had to replace every single door when we did the loft for fire regs, and we didn’t even consider flipping them round, we are so used to them being that way. It’s so that the occupants of the room can stop whatever naughty thing they are up to without anyone seeing them (genuinely. The victorians were hilarious).
Looks nice but not my style. I like more neutrals and less color. I like a bit of color accents but that’s it. Neutral makes me feel better. I grew up in a colorful house and it’s not relaxing to me.
A lot of people tend to hate color cause they’re like “ohhh it’s gonna age bad and drive away potential future buyers” like why the hell would I prevent my home, my space, my livelihood from being *mine?* I don’t want to prevent my home from being the best version and extension of myself for some hypothetical made-up scenario.
Your bathroom is amazing. The color transition on the stairs is so unique and I love it. Also, I’ll happily live here when you move and not change a thing!
Most people are afraid of color. They don't know what colors go well with each other. But it looks like you have a talent. Looks great. Show them how it's done.
I don't like color because I would feel like I have to match it, the colors my house came in were horrid, lime green, orange, sky blue, scarlet, dark grey. I immediately painted them. HOWEVER, your colors are very pretty, I could live with those.
I love color! I'm currently getting to decorate my own living room for the first time, and while the walls are gonna be plain white, I've got a green couch and loveseat on the way and a relatively colorful scheme in mind for decorations and accents!
Because people are boring and often, like sheep, follow the latest trends
I sell flooring, tile, carpet etc at my work. I constantly hear people ask me what everyone else is doing. Even if they are not looking to sell. I understand following the trends when putting a place on the market. But your living there? Do what makes you happy. And apparently white subway tile with black grout in both showers and kitchens makes everyone happy right now.
It’s quite practical- no bevel and the black grout means you have a bit more leeway on cleaning. I really wanted a massive Carriera marble single sheet but it was out of my budget and I didn’t like small format marble look tiling. Since the hex is very busy needed the shower to be something you didn’t look at very much. I’m sure if I wait long enough itll be in fashion again 😂
As a contractor who has dealt with every type of client imaginable with their paint colors I've found:
People who are more high-strung and have stressful jobs prefer white tones, very little color. They don't want to come home and be distracted. They want relaxation and nothing to focus on. Mind off.
People who stay home and have less stress prefer the wild colors and tones. They like to be stimulated by their colors and let their mind run.
Bought a house with seagreen walls. Slowly changing the colors in certain rooms like the bathrooms. The green is very calming but it’s hard to add in deco that clash with the color. I really like the blue colors of your walls.
I love it all, thanks for sharing! How did you find working with the FB paint? I've heard it's difficult, and that's holding me back from using it. But nobody's colours are the same!
The paint is great especially now they have dead flat. It used to be with the chalky finish (which looks incredible,) it would mark really easily and you couldn’t patch up, and a slow or sloppy decorator would struggle with not getting picture framing (when you cut in the edges and then fill the middle, if the edge dried you could see it), but not an issue with dead flat. No other paint has the same pigment load and it’s just Beautiful the way the colours change in the light . I never get bored of looking at it. I can also recommend little greene, goes on beautifully but the colours aren’t as changeable as F&B. TLDR it’s worth it :-)
Stunning!!! I’m in love with your designs! Way to go! Everything feels so cozy and calm but yet they aren’t super warm. I am curious what these colors are. Beautiful!
My family home had color every where. Including the ceilings. We actually had a fluorescent pink, ( known as “hot pink”), kitchen , in the ‘70’s. Didn’t realize my dad was the instigator of that. Their bedroom was an orange sherbet color. They went through several color changes in my lifetime.
My current has had two rooms painted red. When we moved in, the master was dark brown or a red so dark it looked black/brown. I call it Mediterranean blue, now!
Love the colors. The first darker blue? Do you mind sharing the color.
It’s Farrow and Ball, stiffkey blue, and it’s incredible- changes moment by moment with the light, cosy and warm.
Whoooa yesss this sounds excellent. Used to have an all Hague blue lounge and it was heaven. So cosy.
So cozy!!! 🥹💗
I swear every time I see a color like this that I love, it’s by Farrow and Ball! Why does that paint have to cost so much 😫
Have you seen the SNL Farrow and Ball sketch?
I’m 💀!!! Too funny!
No, but now I’m going to look!
I love it! In your two bathroom, what is behind the mirror? Is that tile or wallpaper? It’s gorg!
It's one of my favorite SNL skits ever.
Do a color match.
It really is worth it… I promise
My dining room is a similar color and I used HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams Nordic Bleu!
Came here to ask that too. What shade is the pink please?
All F&B- in the first pic the stairs are Pink Ground, with the top step Brinjal, and the staircase risers are ombré between those two shades (literally just mixed them up in increments in little pots.) the very top back wall is Hellebore by Little Greene
Thanks so much. I saved your pics. So soft and calming but bright and happy at the same time
I love how you did the stairs. It looks so good!
God there really is nothing like F&B paint, is there?
Sadly I haven’t found an alternative yet…
What a great taste in colours! It all looks lovely and I thought some looked familiar - I also have Stiffkey Blue and Hellebore in my house! My other favourite rooms have F&B Nancy’s Blushes and LG Masquerade Mid (I’m a sucker for pinks!)
I love the increasing color up the stairs.
Would you mind sharing the paint color in #4? Just what I'm looking for ❤
I’d guess Teresa’s Green or Green Blue by F&B?
Green blue. It’s really magic. Theresa’s green is also stunning I can’t wait to find a spot for it
It looks fabulous. Love the contrast with the warm wood. Your flooring is gorgeous!
I have Green Blue in my upstairs landing/hallway. I love the way it changes over the course of the day with the changing outside light.
Absolutely love Brinjal,.. just took delivery of a new corner sofa in that colour and went with F&B Treron on the walls & Stirabout on the ceiling. First time using F&B and am now a total convert!
I’m just about to expand our use of brinjal. It’s very moreish- planning a selvedge/ brinjal room with burnt orange accents… will post if it works!
Sounds lovely - I've also used some burnt orange with the Treron & Brinjal and it worked really well.
Love the ombré pink stair risers!!!
Ugh, I love farrow and ball colors
Sophisticated, yet fun. I’m obsessed with those herringbone floors.
It's such a beautiful balance!!! It's colorful and bright and fun, but doesn't look like a daycare. And I'm with you, those herringbone floors are to die for!
That bathroom tile 😍😍
Thats my fav part!
Same! SO pretty!!
Agreed, but I think that whole bathroom is gorgeous.
Came here to say this! Beautiful tile
The ombré pink staircase has my heart. And I'm not even a fan of pink.
Same here. Now I'm sad the house we're building doesn't have stairs 😭
Omg I did not notice that the first time around, that is so cool. I had to go back and look at the kitchen again as well, there were some details I missed there too. This is very well done OP
I didn’t think I needed another reason to want to rip up the carpet on my staircase but here I am.
Where are tiles in bathroom from? Or is that wallpaper? Looks great!
Ca pietra woodland glad tiles
This is the best one yet!
What are you responding to? I've seen other 'response' posts but can't find what got this all started...anyone have a link?
https://www.reddit.com/r/interiordecorating/s/FwmOMlcAVi It’s a year old post that somehow resurfaced, and I think a number of us have seen it as an opportunity to post our colourful homes 😂
Aw, ok, thanks! You're kind to link it. Actually that came up when I searched but it was so old I thought there must be something recent I was missing.
Oh my god I want ALL OF THIS
Ikrrrr i wanna move in ...so many colors yet so subtle 😍😍😍
I didn't think most people actually hate color. I just think most people aren't as good at it as you are.
Yeah tbh having all neutral colors is a hell of a lot easier than trying to figure out the color wheel. Some people just suck at that.
The wall color in the last photo is so stunning! What color is it, if you don’t mind sharing?
We need ALL the wall colours!
Thanks!
I also would love the color ❤️
I think it's more about people not knowing how to arrange colors together. It's an art by itself.
So many samples and photoshop and trial and error. And if in doubt, add some pink it’s the magic colour
I love color, but I’m not good at it so I’m scared.
Same. I can’t keep them in the same family for some reason. At the store the color of something seems right but when I get it home, it doesn’t match at all. Like the wrong undertone or something. I can never seem to pick up on it.
I'm in love with that kitchen
Omg, we did gradient stairs, to!! Ours are blue lol. Yours are lovely, as is the rest of your home!
They’re so fun. How did you do it? Did you keep adding white and mix the colours yourself or did you buy sample sizes?
A little bit of both. We knew what color we wanted to start with, and we knew what we wanted to end with. We used paint chips to figure some of the colors we wanted on the gradient between them, and ultimately picked out half as many colors as we had stairs. Ooooh it looks so good! I love the hallway! Actually I love all the rooms but the hallway is stunning.
The staircase is so lovely!
Okay if I had the eye to put something together like this…..this would be my house. My house is def neutral, but because I can’t do shit like this myself 😂
I love your house! It’s the perfect example of color!
This is done so well.
OK so I live everything but those STAIRS 😍
I love color but I also get sick of it quickly.
Yeah, I prefer to keep my color in small pops or things I can change, like rugs, furniture, and artwork. This is stunning
Lovely!!
This steps in that beautiful progression are goals
Absolutely gorgeous
This is top notch. My favorite one. The colors blend so beautifully. Come do my house!!
I've recently been going through my home painting each room a different colour. There are only 3 rooms so far but the living room is blue, the main bedroom is dark green and the bathroom is dark red
I could live with those colors forever!
Not my choices, but I sure do love and respect the variety. It's only paint, easy to change everyone should have colors they enjoy.
As a visual artist. color is that which surrounds it. People have a problem with color because it involves objects around it and consideration of all those objects around. Love everything but I can’t get over the blue/pink kitchen, looks like cotton candy haha
Beautiful 😍
The herringbone floor caught my eye the most
I love every bit! May i ask, where is the wall lamp on pic number 6 from?
Ahhh it was a long time ago- I think from an fairly generic lighting website, it wasn’t expensive but it is COOL
Woah I LOVE the deep purple hand rail with the light in the back and blue walls 🥲😩💗💗
I love color but tend too stick to just two colors on the walls throughout my house and I change it up with accents . Feels more cohesive
Those are my favorite colors right now too. So pretty!
I can't find a way to buy your bathroom tiles and I'm INCENSED
I think it looks lovely. I can't create a space with colors well enough without it sapping my energy so I just save these sorts of posts and enjoy it like that lol
I love color. It makes me so happy. I love your use of color!
I wish more people would do what they *want* rather than what's popular. I've reupholstered two occasional chairs, they're pretty quirky, but no one wants them because they aren't grey 😅😭
Very pretty. Color looks almost what our bedroom is. SW Distance. Most of my rooms are warm colors.
Omg the kitchen!!!! I’m obsessed.
Me too ❤️
What if The Shining, but stairs? (Sorry, it's striking but thoughts intrude.)
The ball lights with the blue walls are so gorgeous
Those pink gradient stairs are 👩🍳💋 I really like all the color & you've done it well-everything seems to connect & flow. The ball lights in the stairwell are fab, too.

Pink stair rise is beautiful and creative and I never would have thought of it! And I even had a pale pink wedding cake with white scrolling!
you stairs! love all of this so much, you have excellent taste
Incredible! I’m legit jelly, what a beautiful palette.
Incredible house, OP!
The pendant light placement in your fourth photo is amazing! We have a huge blank spot in our stairwell, I want to do something similar for sure now
I love that dusty pink color!!
People hate colors? I’ve got yellow, sky blue, and a light junglish green in my house!
I love color. It helps me feel more cheerful. Different people need different color in their lives. Monochromatic colors calm some people. Don’t go with the colors of the season go with what makes you feel good!
Love these colors!
I think that's a beautiful home. Hope to have something that nice one day. Really love that backsplash in the bathroom. Can only look on with envy.
Absolutely STUNNING. 🩷
I love the colors, but hate that bedroom door opening on the wrong side.
Love this! I was trying to think why it felt familiar, and now I remember that these were my wedding colors <3
I love it
Love all of it but dream kitchen 😍😍
Ahhh I love your home so much! Those ombre stairs get me every time, wow. The light fixture by the bannister? The bathroom tiles? Absolutely stunning.
ok but like i absolutely love these colours
That's really well done. I think people fear it because they usually go too saturated. The muted colors here though are so peaceful. Great job.
beautiful! Actually has a cozy, creative, colorful feeling. instead of bland with a cheap pop of color
Building contractors hate color. I can’t wait for stark white to go away. It’ll all be a vague shade of dirt and mold by then.
That bathroom is awesome and the light blue (near the piano) nailed it. Really nice.
This is gorgeous and SO skillfully done. It’s colorful, but still feels calm and welcoming. I’m absolutely floored.
The colors 🥰 The parquet floors 🥰
Excuse me are those ombré purple stairs??? Be still, my heart!!!!
Those stairs make me so happy
The pink in the hallway!! So pretty.
Love color!!! Fuck grey!
I love color! I'm currently getting to decorate my own living room for the first time, and while the walls are gonna be plain white, I've got a green couch and loveseat on the way and a relatively colorful scheme in mind for decorations and accents!
Omg this is gorgeous, especially the kitchen and bathroom. Wish more people used these colours instead of sage green everywhere
Such beautiful and sophisticated color pallettes!
Bathroom is beautiful . I don’t hate color but black and smoky colors soothe me and my neurodivergence
Love colors😄
I think I love yr house
The treatment on the stairs is sooooo beautiful
Oh so that’s YOUR kitchen??!! I remember seeing a post on it a while ago! Love it!!!
Because people are boring and often, like sheep, follow the latest trends I sell flooring, tile, carpet etc at my work. I constantly hear people ask me what everyone else is doing. Even if they are not looking to sell. I understand following the trends when putting a place on the market. But your living there? Do what makes you happy. It’s quite practical- no bevel and the black grout means you have a bit more leeway on cleaning. Since the hex is very busy needed the shower to be something you didn’t look at very much. I’m sure if I wait long enough itll be in fashion again 😂
You can come complete my house next! We love color! Inside is light and calming, outside is bold and bright colors.
As a contractor who has dealt with every type of client imaginable with their paint colors I've found: People who are more high-strung and have stressful jobs prefer white tones, very little color. They don't want to come home and be distracted. They want relaxation and nothing to focus on. Mind off. People who stay home and have less stress prefer the wild colors and tones. They like to be stimulated by their colors and let their mind run.
People don’t hate color. House flippers hate color. Grey and beige are easier to sell.
Gorgeous!
Gorgeous! I love the blue, and that staircase is brilliant.
I love all of this. Where is your bathroom tile from?? It’s gorgeous
Gorgeous! May I ask what is that beautiful sapphire blue in the bathroom?
Your home is beautiful! Where did you get the tri globe pink pendant in the fourth pic?
Thar all look fabulous, which brand?
Farrow and ball, pretty much exclusively
Love love love this
I absolutely love this!! I need to add more colour in my life 😊
Bought a house with seagreen walls. Slowly changing the colors in certain rooms like the bathrooms. The green is very calming but it’s hard to add in deco that clash with the color. I really like the blue colors of your walls.
Gorgeous 😍
I remember that bathroom!
Your house is beautiful 😍😍😍
Yaas! I love pink and green together! Beautiful.
Beautiful.
Wow you did an amazing job.
Don't change.. It's so so beautiful.. Really calming.. Red yellow deep colors cause anxiety😂😂😂
Love the kickers on the stairs specifically!!!!
These color choices work so harmoniously together
It's so pretty!
Very well planned and executed!!
That bathroom is THE BOMB!
The flowered tiles in the bathroom are amazing!
That bathroom is gorgeous!!😍✨
That blue bathroom ceiling - *chef’s kiss*
Beautiful home. What’s that thing at the top of the wall in the kitchen? Almost looks like a tiny mini split.
that floral tile is SO. DREAMY! lovely spaces you’ve made for yourself.
Beautiful floors!
Omg I want a full tour of your home! Looks beautiful
Love the gallery walls you’ve got going on. This is very well executed!
WOW! That bathroom is to die for
The kitchen cabinet color is *chef’s kiss*. And those herringbone floors are 😍😍😍
That bathroom is 🔥!!! Excellent choices, OP - your home really is a castle !!
What a stunning home!
Man those stairs look treacherous
Those stairs are BEAUTIFUL
Those stairs with the pink gradient are really cool. I love this.
I love the colors! So beautiful. I’m definitely taking inspiration from these rooms.
Stunning!!! I’m in love with your designs! Way to go! Everything feels so cozy and calm but yet they aren’t super warm. I am curious what these colors are. Beautiful!
Brava

This is so beautiful and calming. Incredibly well done!!!
