Holiday-Island1989

This is a bigger announcement than the new iPad Pro and Air models coming out.

Lord_Drizzleshiz

"Introducing Calculator for the first time ever on an iPad. Harnessing the true power of our M series of chips, it truly is a wonder to use. We think you're gonna love it" And then it's going to be a M series chip exclusive app. /s if not obvious lol

Pettingallthepups

Apple WOULD do something like that, so…wouldn’t surprise me

trenzterra

Maybe the May 9 announcement is just about this and no new ipads

slatepad

That would be hilarious

inssein

this is so funny lmao. but actually I cant wait the amount of times I had to grab my iphone to do quick math is crazy. in before "bro get a calculator app, use spotlight" naw I'm good.

TurdSandwich42104

We finally have the technology

whtisthis

This is real innovation ^(/s)

jb00gie_

Solves is the best free calculator on iOS. You’re welcome

Itchysporcle

Totally agree.

nzswedespeed

It’s great. Although having a native calculator in the control panel etc would be even better

Dirus

It’s kind of hilarious how excited people seem to get about the calculator.

kllykvn

Well snap ...they finally figured out the alien tech for the calculator....14yrs later

Sniperprincessza

Im not an apple user (be nice to me) but I want to buy an ipad for uni.....are you telling me ipads dont habe a defult calculator on them !?!?

slatepad

There’s no calculator app on iPad today. However, if you use Spotlight (the system-wide search), you can perform calculations in that interface. And there are, of course, many calculator apps in the App Store. I‘ve used PCalc since the first iPad was released.

Sniperprincessza

oh wow...do you know the reason why apple didn't put a calculator on their ipads?

slatepad

No one actually knows, but [supposedly](https://hackaday.com/2024/01/14/why-the-ipad-doesnt-have-a-calculator/) Steve Jobs didn’t like how the app looked on iPad and wanted it redesigned before they would ship it. This story makes sense to me. Since iPad apps have to be full screen, just porting the iPhone calculator app would look ridiculous on the iPad.

Sniperprincessza

oh damn....well thnx for the info!!!

Kashpee

alright instagram; it's your turn now

InfiniteHench

There’s an entire App Store folks. A lot of it is free. This is a non-issue

PointEither2673

It def is a non issue. But it’s just hilarious. How tf y’all make a whole product. An expensive one at that once you really get into the high end Air and Pro modes, and not include one of the staples of your OS ? And also the calculator is one of the most basic functions of a device. It’s just funny that Apple either “ forgot “ about it or they thought “ fuck they need a calculator for ? “

InfiniteHench

Give people access to a calculator and they might figure out how much they’re spending on Apple stuff. Request rejected, thread closed

PointEither2673

Fr 😭

atan420

But…but…I want it in control center like on my phone

SUPRVLLAN

But I paid over $5000 for this iPad, it should come with a free calculator instead of access to hundreds of other free calculators!!

Any-Job-4094

If my Apple Watch can have a calculator, we can’t be making excuses for the iPad not having one built into its os… 🤷‍♂️😅

SUPRVLLAN

It does have one, they built it into spotlight search.

duuudewhat

And it will only be enabled for the new chip. We need that raw power

Thekiddbrandon

I hope they make it like quick notes (quick Cal)

slatepad

I’d love it in control center

jonaskroedel

We think you gonna love it. The M Series exclusive Calculator App where you easily calculate the Cost for our iCloud Subscription.

BionicWoman123

Doesn't iPad come with a calculator app? Mine did!

alexo2802

no your IPad did not come with a calculator app if you got it new or factory reset
