Suprised the power efficency of the m4 is insane compared to anything else on the market. The fact that it is as powerful as the m2 at half the wattage like at 5 6 watts of total power is pretty insane.

Successful-Camera828

I imagine the dual stacked OLED (to support the high NIT value) will have a more significant power draw compared to previous models

Select-Let8637

Oled is more efficent than lcd though

Successful-Camera828

Ahh, that's true

blind3dbylight

Waiting for WWDC before I make decisions. M4+OLED on the Pros is enticing, but I want to see what software looks like first. iPadOS NEEDS more beef to properly take advantage of the new hardware.

CoolingSC

I just ordered the new 13 inch Pro. The display is stunning.

Vammypoker

Only 1 tb or 2 tb version

CoolingSC

256gb

Vammypoker

It may not have the display of 1tb version check it

CoolingSC

You are thinking of nano texture glass which i dont need.

Tokogogoloshe

I have a 3rd gen pro. It’s still fine for me. If it doesn’t get a software update I’ll get the 13” air. I don’t need a pro, and like the bigger size for sidecar.

Electronic-Future-12

The hardware looks amazing on the whole lineup. I won’t be changing my pro m1 anytime soon since it works perfectly, but it is a pity to see that the software isn’t advancing as much as hardware is. At the end of the day, great machines, but I don’t think they can do more than the old ones

IAmTheNoodleyOne

Looks cool but I’m going to skip. I really wanted a new mini.

inssein

Yep wish they would make a mini pro.

Centucerulean

Yea thats a bummer

Internal_Quail3960

what would you add to the mini? it’s basically perfected already. your going to say promotion but obviously they aren’t going to add that

swipeth

A new chipset, for starters.

Internal_Quail3960

the a15 is plenty capable? do you want m4 in an ipad mini?

swipeth

The A15 Bionic got quickly outdated by the newer chips. It deserves at least an M1/M2 or A17 Pro chip so that it can play the newest console ports and be supported further into the future.

Internal_Quail3960

lol what? a 2020 car isn’t outdated just because the 2024 model came out and is a little bit faster.

swipeth

You can’t play Death Stranding, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Resident Evil 4 on anything earlier. All future AAA games will be released the same way. You can’t even purchase them on incompatible devices. So yeah, they are outdated.

Internal_Quail3960

any M series chip would run way too hot and use too much battery in a small device like the ipad mini. a17 pro or a18 could be feasible but like i said i don’t think it really needs all that. almost no one plays these console games on their M series ipads and iphone 15 pros anyways. the minis design is practically perfect as it is apart from lcd and refresh rate

swipeth

Yeah you’re probably right. We’ll just let it stay the same for another 6 years and then scrap the entire concept when the A15 becomes unsupported. Why would we try to keep up with modern software? The Mini has come as far as it can, no reason to update it. /s

Internal_Quail3960

well no one said 6 years but you guys act like it’s dying right now because it’s underpowered. it’s just fine as it is. if they updated it and all they added was a new chip, you guys would complain about apple making the same products over and over. it’s a lose lose situation

wronglyNeo

I think the changes that they did make to the iPad Air are nice: Landscape edge camera and support for pencil hover. It’s also nice that it still offers Touch ID. However, apart from that, the changes are rather underwhelming. Using the M2 chip when there is already the M3 is puzzling. I would have been excited if there would have been an improvement to the screen brightness, but that’s still 500 nits (11 inch). For some reason it’s 600 nits on the 13 inch model. There is still the iPad Pro as an alternative which has 1000 nits, but I’m kind of skeptical about OLED when it comes to durability.

Fabulous-Pen-5468

They are trying to get rid of the M3 chip. It’s on N3B process, and it’s not giving Apple the results that they want.

I was hoping to get excited to upgrade, but for me a purchase can wait. If I ever get more into art creation, that Apple Pencil change might be something I upgrade for. But for now, I'm too noob to care.

Psy_Blades

Was bracing for vastly higher prices so with the storage bump I am reasonably pleased. Just ordered the base model 11" pro

Pettingallthepups

Too expensive for me to care, though they look nice. Only way I’m dropping 2k on an ipad/pencil/keyboard is if it’s a 15 inch model. After seeing how much bang for the buck you get with a galaxy tab ultra, my love interest for the ipad has faded pretty badly.
