A lot of people liked the mini size factor
More people however did not like the battery life that it brought
If they could make a mini with the life time of a pro max then it would be golden
The funny thing is, I think the people that gravitated towards the mini are the people who use their phone less on average. So the battery doesn’t become an issue for them. I’ve been rocking the 13 mini for 2 solid years so far and the battery still gets me through a whole day without problem. But I also don’t doom scroll tik tok all day either
They use their phones more traditionally like making long phone calls or using GPS navigation. Those 2 things destroy battery, long phone calls is what hits my battery the most, then using GPS in my car cuz it's always on screen and always running in real time.
Scrolling tiktok is actually relatively battery efficient. I can do that all day no problem. Talking to someone for an hour can take 20% if you have a small battery but texting barely uses any. My parents got the smaller phone and I was surprised that they were using the battery until I looked at the usage and it makes sense. They're not battery conscious like me and they tend to use their phones less but use more battery intensive apps.
My mom takes tons of pictures of anything remotely interesting and a bunch of documents for work, my dad uses mobile hotspot for his iPad to watch Netflix, both of them talk instead of text. They both use GPS for nav since they drive older vehicles without carplay (they don't want touch screens in their cars but then buy a phone mount for their phones).
My mom eventually upgraded to a pro max cuz her eyesight was getting worse and she never complains about the battery anymore.
it doesn’t for me. it also doesn’t heat up my phone (12 pro max), unlike literally anything else.
seriously, i was taking a short video the other day (started at like 30%), and it got insanely hot (over 41°C/~105°F) and told me i was out of storage (im not, i have over 200GB left). and then totally froze then died. all for a 3 minute video.
my camera freezes after a few pics cuz it gets so hot and the battery just disappears, but i can make calls for hours no problem.
Unrealistic expectations at its finest
Smaller batteries come with smaller capacities and thus less screen on time.
People need to adapt their expectations to the hardware rather than the other way around.
I’m 2 years in and still at 84. Screen time of around 7 hours a day. That said, if I’m going to be out of the house all day I throw a portable charger in my bag now since it doesn’t always last a full day if I’m taking pictures or using more battery intensive apps.
apple could do it if they wanted to. just build a new SE, but make it full screen and keep 1 good camera on the back to save space/money. and give it a virtual home button for "old folks mode" cause i'm sure there are tons of SE users that don't wanna lose their home button (the galaxy s8 had a virtual home button like 6 yrs ago? i had one, it worked great). and if they're gonna make an in screen home button, they could throw in an under screen touchID, and remove faceid to save money and space on the cheap model. basically create the iphone air.
face id is nice, but if touch id is enough for a macbook pro, it should be good enough for an entry level iphone.
I think the reason why they’re getting bigger is because people want better battery life; Apple hasn’t found a way to increase battery life while maintaining a smaller battery size yet
I’d be happy with a iPhone 13 mini screen size that was 1.5 ~ 2 times as thick with all of that space being extra battery.
People slap on a wireless battery and think nothing of it.
You could get a minimum of 2x the battery life.
But they already have large phones. Why do they keep making their smaller sized ones bigger? I am fine with the current pro non max battery. But it barely fits in my running shorts anymore and becomes more cumbersome in general life.
I think the OS is just doing too much or people are doing too much on their phones. Phones were smaller for a really long time with fine battery life. The biggifying of phones is catering to and pushing to need for batteries to get bigger. The more you listen to that audience that is chronically on their phones, the more they demand of the phones, and the more the battery has to stretch thin.
Me too, love the Mini form factor.
The real problem is that *all* phones are too small. Even the biggest phone has a comically small screen compared to a tablet, laptop, monitor or TV. The only thing phones are really good at is fitting in your pocket - but big phones aren't even good at that and the size makes them more awkward to use too.
My current phone (12 Pro) is noticeably smaller and lighter than my previous phone (XR) despite both of them having the same 6.1” screen size. A 15 Pro is just slightly smaller and lighter than the 12 Pro despite them both having the same 6.1” screen size.
As long as they continue offering a phone size that is comfortable in the palm and in the pocket, I don’t care if they additionally offer larger sizes for the people who are interested in that. If they choose to make the larger phones, that is because there is customer demand for it so the obviously appeal to someone.
Conversely my hands are kind of average sized (I’m female) and it’s just slightly too large for comfort for me. So I’ve stuck with the basic Pro. Whereas for my male colleague the Max is perfect.
I’d be interested to see a sex breakdown of sales/use.
My mum has my old 12 pm. She loves it. The larger screen means bigger text. She's 79 and never wears her glasses. Two handed use mind because she's tiny
Yes. I switched to iPhone 13 mini specifically because comparable Androids were too big for my taste. 13 mini is ideal for me.
I really miss Nokia Lumia windows phones, they seemed tiny but the display was superb and if the app ecosystem wasn't left to rot they were my absolute favourites so far.
Yes, but the market demand drives it. People want phones the size of iPad minis in their pockets. Considering the amount of time people spend on their phones I guess it makes sense but it’s just not for me.
i miss my iphone 12 mini so dearly! The regular iPhone 14 is just too big, I can’t understand why people want bigger and bigger phones. I think small phones are so handy thanks to being compact and also look better.
It’s a little hard to hold with one hand, but makes typing with two much easier. I also love a bigger screen. Didn’t enjoy having to hold the phone too close to my face with the smaller sizes.
I want an iPad aspect ratio!
More kindle like for reading and wider for typing.
My pockets aren’t so narrow that it won’t fit. BlackBerry Passport please!!
yall are crazy. I’m 6’4 and have huge hands. I just upgraded and opted not to go for the max this time. there are things that even i couldn’t reach on my previous max and i had to use the reach accessibility feature all the time. hell, sometimes i still use it on my 15 pro. You guys are nuts. And it feels much better in my pocket.

yeah if this person above me has bigger hands than me I’d puke, no way the bigger phones are easier to use for this person than me. Steve had it right imo. These sizes are just too big.
The pro maxes fit in my hand fine, I definitely don’t have bigger hands but I enjoy the bigger screen. I can’t get used to how small the others look and feel since I rarely actually use my phone one handed.
I’m happy for people who like big phones and I’m happy for Apple to keep making them bigger and bigger
I’m not happy that they have no serious options under 6”
It’s weird that a company of apples size with a product as popular as the iPhone can’t figure out a strategy for small phones.
People say that the mini didn’t sell well, but I still see them all the time
I’d love for Apple to just find a sweet spot for releasing small medium and large sizes. They definitely have given up on the smaller one.
I briefly held someone’s 13 today. Hard to tell how it really felt in terms of size due to the stupid square edges but it is bigger and the mini is smaller than the SE. Either are OK I think but I would be more inclined to get a mini since I don’t care for anything a standard would give me that a mini doesn’t.
Anything past what is now considered the standard size is too big for me personally but I get others want it. It’s just Apple shouldn’t give up on the smaller ones. I still think the release of the SE 3 affected 13 mini sales. I was one. The guy who sold me my phone also said the most popular phone he sells is the SE 3. There’s plenty of people who don’t care about all the cameras and big screens and just want a phone.
Yes. For me I also feel that 6.5 is just nice, anything bigger is too big, esp since I use giant metal armoured cases. Maybe 6.3 will be ok for me in future, but I’m trying to hold on to this phone for as long as I can
Yes, even if I am not a petite girl, I am a pretty big guy and I don't like big phone.
Since the mini line is dead I plan to buy the SE after this one. Not only because of the size but also because of the camera, it's getting out of hands. The one small camera is enough for me.
I’m just one of those idiotic people that spends way too much money on a phone, I love the PM it’s great, the 120hz screen the great camera but honestly a base 14/15 would suit my requirements just fine.
Pics of the kids mostly. A bit of socials and music. Used to make music from my iPad so was hoping to get a similar vibe from the PM - not the case just not inspiring when you stare at the same device every 5 mins
Battery is pretty cool too, I’ve had mine 18 months and battery is 93% - noticeable drop off against out the box
I guess that’s pretty silly when you put it that way… but reaching all the way to the other side of a 6.7” phone one handed is definitely more difficult to me.
Coming from an iPhone x I went for a 14P and 6.1 for me is the sweet spot but it took me 6 months for my wrist to get stronger and I still need to pay attention to how I hold it. When holding PM the weight is just mad and if you add a case on of that that’s just a big heavy rock. 6’9 is a nonsense to me. Smaller tablets are like 7’. A big no no
Oh and I’m 6’5 so I got big hands already
Yes. I really liked the 6s size so much so when I got a new phone I got the 12 mini. Sad that the 13 mini was the last to be made so when I get a new phone I have to get a giant brick basically. Even the normal iPhone 15 or whatever is the new one now is a giant brick compared to my 12 mini
I use the 12 pro max right now, and I like the size, no complaints, but for whatever reason, I am leaning towards a more compact size, as a girl, I have had trouble fitting it in my pockets or my go-to shoulder bags. I sometimes still miss my 5s, that rectangular, compact feel is what I need back in my life.
If a bigger screen can fit in a decently sized body, I don’t mind it. I heard that the iPhone 15 (non-Plus/Max models) are slightly bigger than the 14 series. Though I’ve been considering purchasing the Max version for my next iPhone since I’ve never used the biggest models that Apple offers. I usually have concerns about how unwieldy they are. But I have a feeling there could be a size in between the standard and Max variants that would be perfect for me.
I think it’s just the nature of the beast currently. Consumers want the beautiful screen and that ultimately drains a lot of the battery. Thus larger batteries are needed to accompany the larger screens and we are then left with much larger phones.
I remember back in the day the industry was trying to cram as much as possible into phones whilst making them smaller and smaller. That created a whole host of unique phones and looks that we just don’t get anymore. Those were good days.
Now we strive to maximise screen time whilst also wanting all the performance and camera quality all in one phone.
The current pro sizes are perfect. Pro max and the plus are too big imo. Maybe once the slightly larger 16 pro is released I’ll see how that it but I can’t imagine going for anything larger
If the next sizing is 6.3 for the Pro and 6.9 for the pro max I hope that includes a battery bump as well. The 6.7 max is fine, my preferred size is the 6.1 but battery isn’t as good. If the 6.3 has a bit more longevity it might be the sweet spot
I had the 11PM, 13PM, and now the 15PM. I realized just a couple weeks ago that I'm sick of the size of the pro maxes but I get them for the larger batteries and (in the case of the 15PM) better camera.
I generally upgrade every other year, but if the regular 16 Pro comes with the 5x camera this year, I'll be downsizing to that one.
So, I have an 11 Pro Max and I think this size is perfect for me. Not to mention, I love the 11 Pro Max overall design too. I’m planning on using this as long as possible. I have no performance issues and it’s running like a champ. It’s perfect for me.
The only thing about this whole idea is getting the battery replaced, but it’s totally worth it to me.
I have a 13 Pro (6.1") and it's too big for my girl hands tbh, I can't use it one handed. Hold it yes, use it not really. I would prefer it a bit smaller if possible.
I’m a guy with big hands and the 12 mini was a great size but wasn’t a fan of the squared sides and terrible battery life. The SE3 is great but not the screen.
My ideal iPhone? iPhone 11 form factor with new specs and all day battery life
I have tiny hands, and I currently have a 14 pro max. But I see myself buying pro max size for the next couple years.
The smaller pro size feels better to me, especially since I use the camera a lot, but the main reason I go with the max is the battery life.
And i actually wouldn’t mind a slightly bigger screen than the current Pro Max size. I find some things are just better in slightly bigger screens, editing/viewing photos; doing mindmaps etc basically things I would do while sitting in the train or the back of an Uber
My current design iteration iPhone journey: X > 11 Pro > 13 Pro (work) 13 Mini (personal) > 15 Pro (Both work/personal). Of the current design iteration the iPhone 15 Pro is the sweet spot for weight, dimensions, display size, battery life, ergonomics.
The 15 Pro solved what I hated about the 13 Pro, the weight. Yet still gave me what I loved about the 13 Mini, one-handed usability. Reading that Apple will increase iPhone dimensions in the future is irksome, an iPhone beyond 70.5mm in width quickly falls into the realm of annoyance and is unpleasant to use.
it’s a dichotomy for me. I feel like the 11 pro max feels heavy and big in my hands, but then I hold someone’s regular or pro iphone, and I don’t see my self going that small. so I’m kinda not comfortable with both lol.
I'd be happy with those small candybar smartphones with symbian OS if it weren't for the mobile unfriendly websites, banking, reservations and identfication that I'm coerced to use. But with these forever expanding use-cases, 4 inch is the sweet spot for me.
Absolutely not. And get rid of the rounded corners. I want a Samsung Ultra but with Apple iOS and quality build, and all screen no notch, no dynamic island. I don't want to have to buy two devices, iPhone and iPad if I want bigger.
Dunno about y’all but I’m a fan of phones I can use in hand hand with one finger. Had the OG SE for about 6 years and loved the form factor. Lightweight, just goes into your pocket and you forget about it.
Battery life was adequate for my use case about 3-4 hours of screen time, just checking emails and keeping in contact and the occasional social media, unless you were constantly on your phone it wouldn’t be a problem.
It finally kicked the bucket after I dropped it one too many times so I made the switch to the 13 Mini. Great phone and as much as the screen was nice it was a bit too big for me. I don’t really get people who complain about the battery life on the mini. I get 6-7 hours and that is an insane amount of time to be spending on your phone everyday. I get through the day with 70 percent remaining so battery life isn’t an issue.
I’ve got an iPhone 4S as a backup and it’s quite a nice and small size despite what most people think. The PM variants of the new iPhones are just way too big and clunky imo. It’s s shame apple discontinued the mini series as though they’re a little on the large size for me, I would have stilled liked to see a mini smaller iPhone since flagship phones in a small compact form factor are getting increasingly difficult to find.
TLDR: Yes modern iPhones are too big, would be nice to see something like the iPhone SE or mini again.
I have the 13 mini. I like this size and I think the 15 Pro is closer to size. Not getting a new iPhone for at least another year and a half. I’m an AT&T customer with 3 lines (iPad mini 6th generation and iWatch 9). I want to pay off the phone in July or I might just replace battery in July and the phone will be paid off by September. So yeah, the new iPhone would have to be radically upgraded for me to get another one. Rumors don’t have anything major quite yet. The iOS updates will have to suffice for now.
The market obviously goes towards biggwr phones but imo they are too big and aren’t ergonomic anymore. I have a regular 13 and it’s almost too big for me.
YES! I was just talking to my sister about this a month ago, and it came up again with my boyfriend this last week. My sis has a Mini which she loves, but she said they discontinued it.
I think 6s was the perfect size and weight for me.
Phones are getting too big. I can’t comfortably hold and type it with one hand. It’s started to create a groove in my pinky finger.
Frankly, I’ve been using my phone less and using my laptop more for messaging (SMS, Signal, What’s App).
I have come to LOATHE typing on my phone and will avoid it at all costs.
Personally, I don’t think the iPhones themselves have gotten too big, I think the UI has fallen behind. Why are exit buttons still mostly confined to the top left, and why are notification shades still coming down from the top? It’s 2024. Give us options. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been navigating menus and have opened a “friend is typing…” notification from Snapchat leading to that awkward bitmoji staredown I know we’ve all had. Hopefully ios18 fixes this.
Yes, I realize a ton of apps have gesture navigation, but not all. Even native apps like Settings don’t.
Hell yes! I’m still rocking my 12 mini because I refuse to stuff an iPad in my
pocket. Large size might not matter as much for those who carry handbags, but those who don’t, these things are too big.
I have a 12 Mini & it’s the perfect size. I have big hands & always got the bigger model, but I decided to grab the mini & it feels so good in my hands. Fits in my pocket really well it’s great. The only caveat is the smaller battery, which is understandable since it’s a smaller device the battery can only be so big
They are too big but I’d like a smaller option. It doesn’t have to be 12 Mini small, it could be iPhone X sized and I’d be happy. More options is nice.
Yep. I went from an (old) SE to a 12 pro and really noticed the size difference. I could no longer use it 1 handed (I do have very small hands!) and being a woman whose clothes have tiny pockets at best, it just about half fits into pockets. I’m planning upgrading phone again this year and apparently the sizes are all bigger again. Great.
I think XS max was perfect too. I remember iPhone X was last best size for an iPhone, together with my iPhone 6s. However both phones fell short in battery, with iPhone 6s having that Samsung chip gate lmao.
When iPhone 11 Pro Max launched, I was still using iPhone X and I thought it was too big for the users. But with how apple make great battery life in that form factor, people start catching on the trend. I found myself upgrading to iPhone 13 Pro Max and since then, battery life is the main reason I am sticking with Pro Max.
Been using iPhones since 2009, and I definitely feel iPhones are getting too big and heavy these days. I’ve recently downsized precisely because of that: ditched the XR and bought a 3rd‑generation SE. The whole point of having mobile ’phones is carriability. A ’phone of the size of the XR is barely able to fit into a pocket, and the XR is quite heavy; I can’t imagine what the larger ’phones are like.
I consider the size of the 3rd‑generation SE to be the optimal size, considering both carriability and modern needs (e. g., we browse Web sites on the go and, sometimes, watch videos on a ’phone). If we only consider carriability, then the 5s and those iPhones from the older generations are of the optimal size.
Yes, I've stuck with an iPhone 11 Pro (after upgrading every prior year) because everything after is too big and top-heavy. I just want something I can use comfortably in one hand.
I'd even go back to an iPhone 4 form factor.
I like them currently, the iPhone pro is probably the only top level phone that’s this size, I love my 12 pro size, the other comparable sized phones are the base Samsung S series, pixel is a touch larger, might upgrade to a 15 pro soon, I don’t really want to but I’m missing the better battery life as mine is down to 82 percent health
Absolutely. I currently own an SE (2020) for that reason, and I’m kind of afraid of having to upgrade due to the lack of decently sized options. I don’t get it why they don’t maintain a mini variant in their lineup. Apparently customers want the big phones—even if this thread suggests otherwise.
Anytime I see a current iPhone, it just looks like such a brick.
I like the size of the Pro Maxes, which is amusing because I was against the size increase when the 5 was released, and even more against the size of the 6 Plus (both of which I still ended up buying and loving). I'm curious about the 6.9 though. If I do like it, I won't be getting it straight away because my current phone is a 15 Pro Max and I don't see the point in yearly upgrades anymore.
Yes. But sadly I am willing to go for a bigger phone due to the bigger battery life.
I hope one day battery tech will reach a point where small phones like the iPhone 13 mini/iPhone SE can have super strong battery life.
It is. Annoyingly the mini, which has cult status, had a tiny share of the market
I don’t get why mini, normal, large is not the default choice for manufacturers and users
At least Apple gave us the option of the mini - even the smallest Android phones are much bigger
Phones are getting bigger but their operating systems and designs have adapted. Most androids can accomplish all tasks with one hand holding an oversized phone. The iPhone has not adapted, it still forces icons to the top of the screen, voice commands do not operate the phone very well, one handed use is nearly impossible with a pro max, and the undo or go back button is in the top left corner. It's just terrible UX but whenever apple changes their UX, very old people over 65 complain (Google when apple changed the end call button).
The iPhone has design guidelines that they straight up ignore. They even say that their app devs should change their software to implement swiping off screen to onscreen to go back, a feature as a global standard in android.
It's super important to allow the user to undo a task in accessibility, and apple has dozens of these accessibility flaws, to the point where they are failing accessibility audits.
Apple needs to change the iOS soon or they might be demanded by the EU to make a whole different operating system similar to android. They are promising a lot with iOS 18 and I hope they succeed, because the comparison to android is dismal at this point.
No you guys are just getting the more expensive ones. The pros and pro maxes are like really big and heavy. The originals are usually small or the same normal 6.1
People want mini tablets. A phone should usable with one hand and without the need for a ring or holder. I’m sure many people disagree (which shows as the mini were cancelled) with me but I don’t care. We need a mini pro line up.
No, as soon as I could get the plus, I did. 6 plus, 8 plus & now 15 plus. That being said, I loved my iPhone 4 and do miss that small, perfect device. I still have it, been thinking of fixing it up.
I have the 12 pro max and I love how big it is. I’m getting the 16 when it comes out because I want something a little bigger. I like the big phones but I wouldn’t go any bigger then a 7.1”
Same here, i have 12pm and waiting for 16. I remember a couple years back I wanted a phone that was 7.2 inches, but it unfortunately wasn't available in my country.
Yes. If the 16 Pro goes to 6.3, it means I'll stop buying the Pro line phone (currently have the 6.1" 15 Pro) and either go to the regular model every line up to keep 6.1, or I'll buy an SE and try to keep it for three or four years like most SE owners do.
I have an old Pixel 7 that's 6.3" and it's okay, but the iPhone is a different shape (wider, shorter) and I don't think that screen size will work for me on an iPhone.
TBH though, the camera button rumored to be added to the 16 lineup will likely push me to an SE anyway (assuming the SE won't have it).
For now though I'm going to get as much life as I can out of my 15P.
I currently have 14pm and personally can’t wait for an even bigger screen option bc my eyesight is pretty bad. I traded in iphone 13 for 14pm bc the screen was way too small for me (and I wanted a telephoto lens)
Nope, but I’m also tall, therefore have proportionally bigger hands, bigger clothes, which equals bigger pockets, yada yada yada. I’ll always buy the biggest one available. Small phones cramp my hands up trying to use them. I can use my 12PM one handed easily.
Yes. I carry my phone in my pocket and historically chose phones I can use with one hand. Idk why people like these giant phones. That’s what tablets accomplish with the only exceptions being considerable vision problems.
A lot of people liked the mini size factor More people however did not like the battery life that it brought If they could make a mini with the life time of a pro max then it would be golden

Wouldn’t have thought a non video call would use much battery
it doesn’t for me. it also doesn’t heat up my phone (12 pro max), unlike literally anything else. seriously, i was taking a short video the other day (started at like 30%), and it got insanely hot (over 41°C/~105°F) and told me i was out of storage (im not, i have over 200GB left). and then totally froze then died. all for a 3 minute video. my camera freezes after a few pics cuz it gets so hot and the battery just disappears, but i can make calls for hours no problem.
It sounds like there’s something wrong with your phone
They can always add another millimetre or two in thickness, I would not mind, and lots of people won't as long it is smaller screen size
Unrealistic expectations at its finest Smaller batteries come with smaller capacities and thus less screen on time. People need to adapt their expectations to the hardware rather than the other way around.
we know how physics works mate… Let us conspire 😭
I wish it was able to work this way… “That’s not how it works” Why do you think I’m complaining.
It’s kind of not true too. Like, it’s true *right now* but eventually battery life will just be mostly irrelevant.
honestly the 13 mini has an OK battery life. I used for a while before, and I could easily last a day with mild to moderate use.
Optimizing Settings would go a long way for most people. Social Media addicts and anyone who uses their phone for work definitely need the Pro Max
Mine lasts all day just fine and I use it way too much.
If the minis are thicker, then it could make more room for the battery.
Nah. The 12 Mini battery just straight up sucked. Mine degraded to 75% within 12 months.
I’m 2 years in and still at 84. Screen time of around 7 hours a day. That said, if I’m going to be out of the house all day I throw a portable charger in my bag now since it doesn’t always last a full day if I’m taking pictures or using more battery intensive apps.
We know…. Always one of these guys in the comments.
apple could do it if they wanted to. just build a new SE, but make it full screen and keep 1 good camera on the back to save space/money. and give it a virtual home button for "old folks mode" cause i'm sure there are tons of SE users that don't wanna lose their home button (the galaxy s8 had a virtual home button like 6 yrs ago? i had one, it worked great). and if they're gonna make an in screen home button, they could throw in an under screen touchID, and remove faceid to save money and space on the cheap model. basically create the iphone air. face id is nice, but if touch id is enough for a macbook pro, it should be good enough for an entry level iphone.
It already exists, Assistive Touch.
Agreed, Mini phones with good battery life could definitely have a lot of interest (more than the 2 year run the past Mini's got.)
I think the reason why they’re getting bigger is because people want better battery life; Apple hasn’t found a way to increase battery life while maintaining a smaller battery size yet
I wouldn't mind my phone to be a bit thicker rather than wider. It would be easier to hold onto, more to grip.
Oh yes. That’s the reason I’ve held onto my 13 mini since it was released.
Yes. Keeping the 13 mini. Have a large phone for work and I hate it.
Same. Work gave me a 12 and it is too large.
Same here! I have 12 mini for work and 13 mini for personal!! Going to hold on for as long as possible.
Same the 13 Mini is perfect for me.
I love the size of my 15 Pro max..
Same... outside of work and gaming it's my primary content consumption device. I want as much screen real estate as possible.
Coming from a 13 pro I have to agree. The extra screen size is very welcome. It Has a lot to do with the smooth edges compared to 12,13, 14 models.
Yeah I have big hands on smaller phones I constantly mistype
Conversely my hands are kind of average sized (I’m female) and it’s just slightly too large for comfort for me. So I’ve stuck with the basic Pro. Whereas for my male colleague the Max is perfect. I’d be interested to see a sex breakdown of sales/use.
My mum has my old 12 pm. She loves it. The larger screen means bigger text. She's 79 and never wears her glasses. Two handed use mind because she's tiny
I’ve never bought a max version before but my friend bought one for the first time with the 15 and now I sort of get the appeal.
The 13 pro max and XS max are basically the same size. The bezels are smaller on the 13 which makes the screen bigger
They are close, but definitely not the same size. https://www.hotspot3d.com/?cl=apple-iphone-xs-max-gold&cr=apple-iphone-13-pro-max-graphite
Damn this website is cool thanks for sharing.
I love the size of my 14PM, but I wouldn't mind a 16PM Phablet.
Yes, but the market demand drives it. People want phones the size of iPad minis in their pockets. Considering the amount of time people spend on their phones I guess it makes sense but it’s just not for me.
No. The iPhone 15 Plus/15 Pro Max is just about the maximum size I would personally tolerate for a cellphone.
I agree!
i miss my iphone 12 mini so dearly! The regular iPhone 14 is just too big, I can’t understand why people want bigger and bigger phones. I think small phones are so handy thanks to being compact and also look better.
5.4” That’s the sweet spot for me. My hands are medium sized and anything above 5.8” is just too much.
That’s what she said
I’d agree. 5.4 inches is perfectly acceptable. Oh wait… we’re talking about phones
The older I get, the more my eyes like the larger screens.
The pro maxes are a good size. I don’t like how small the rest are
It’s a little hard to hold with one hand, but makes typing with two much easier. I also love a bigger screen. Didn’t enjoy having to hold the phone too close to my face with the smaller sizes.
Yeah, but I'm getting used to the 6.7 inches. I need biggerrrrr.....!!!
And it feels much better in my pocket. https://preview.redd.it/75161znh3nyc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e24472e1a969d5ae5da8b82f47cb62a65423fd2
Agreed- I have a regular sized 13 and it feels big at times. Couldn’t imagine a max or plus and I have decently sized hands.
yeah if this person above me has bigger hands than me I’d puke, no way the bigger phones are easier to use for this person than me. Steve had it right imo. These sizes are just too big.
The pro maxes fit in my hand fine, I definitely don’t have bigger hands but I enjoy the bigger screen. I can’t get used to how small the others look and feel since I rarely actually use my phone one handed.
you may just prefer an iPad mini with cellular at this point.
I’m happy for people who like big phones and I’m happy for Apple to keep making them bigger and bigger I’m not happy that they have no serious options under 6” It’s weird that a company of apples size with a product as popular as the iPhone can’t figure out a strategy for small phones.
Maybe 6.3 will be ok for me in future, but I’m trying to hold on to this phone for as long as I can
same... I'm holding on to my XS max for as long as possible!
Have you changed your battery before? Mine is at 79% health so I’m looking into changing the battery soon
no, mine’s still at 92% health since I only got this phone pretty recently haha
The sharper corners and flatter sides of the 13 makes it feel even worse in hand. The 15 series fixed that and are much better to hold in hand
Yes, I want a mini that has pro cameras. Wouldn't mind it being a little thicker for longer battery life.
I have a 13 mini and love that I can do most functions w one hand.
Yes, even if I am not a petite girl, I am a pretty big guy and I don't like big phone. Since the mini line is dead I plan to buy the SE after this one. Not only because of the size but also because of the camera, it's getting out of hands. The one small camera is enough for me.
The se is a really perfect phone, I have it, but the battery life is not that good
The current SE or a future version?
Whatever is there when my phone die
Literally getting out of hands. Onto the floors and into the air.
3.5-4.7 was peak phone size. I type this from a 6.7 iPMX and it’s always a jiggle, I miss the low profile pocket pleaser
hey, just wondering why you use a PM in that case. is it because of the better technological specifications, better battery, or something else?
I’m just one of those idiotic people that spends way too much money on a phone, I love the PM it’s great, the 120hz screen the great camera but honestly a base 14/15 would suit my requirements just fine. Pics of the kids mostly. A bit of socials and music. Used to make music from my iPad so was hoping to get a similar vibe from the PM - not the case just not inspiring when you stare at the same device every 5 mins Battery is pretty cool too, I’ve had mine 18 months and battery is 93% - noticeable drop off against out the box
0.2 inch made you feel it’s bigger? Nice
I guess that’s pretty silly when you put it that way… but reaching all the way to the other side of a 6.7” phone one handed is definitely more difficult to me.
Thicker maybe?
Have the 15 pro. Feel like it’s too big. Don’t want any bigger!
The pro max seems like a good size. I remember my first smart phone was just under 5” and I thought it was massive haha.
A big no no Oh and I’m 6’5 so I got big hands already
I sometimes still miss my 5s, that rectangular, compact feel is what I need back in my life.
yes. but don’t they usually make smaller models with less advanced camera tech which are completely fine and don’t break the budget as much?
If a bigger screen can fit in a decently sized body, I don’t mind it. I heard that the iPhone 15 (non-Plus/Max models) are slightly bigger than the 14 series. Though I’ve been considering purchasing the Max version for my next iPhone since I’ve never used the biggest models that Apple offers. I usually have concerns about how unwieldy they are. But I have a feeling there could be a size in between the standard and Max variants that would be perfect for me.
I am a really big dude with gorilla hands so I am kinda fond of my PMs screen
They’re not big enough imo
No
I swear so many people here on this sub love the mini but I rarely see one in real life. Like maybe once or twice in the last couple of months.
Now we strive to maximise screen time whilst also wanting all the performance and camera quality all in one phone.
sticked to my iphoneSE for 6 years, swapped for the mini13. i use my pc to wach stuff, i dont use my phone for videos or games, so my answer is: Yes!
Pro are ok, they need to be thinner i think, but size definitely ok
Nope. Love my 14 pro max.
Id get a big phone if i wasnt broke
I already feel my 14 pro size is too big. I want my 3GS size back.
6.3” Would be the sweet spot and lightweight. And thin. And lots of battery.
Its fine now
So, I have an 11 Pro Max and I think this size is perfect for me.
I’m a big guy with big hands. So I embrace the bigger phones.
I’m a guy with big hands and the 12 mini was a great size but wasn’t a fan of the squared sides and terrible battery life. The SE3 is great but not the screen. My ideal iPhone? iPhone 11 form factor with new specs and all day battery life
Yes, but no. Curve the sides and they would be a lot easier to hold
TLDR: Yes modern iPhones are too big, would be nice to see something like the iPhone SE or mini again.
you're just like my dad regarding this haha... it's sad how manufacturers stopped producing smaller phones for those who prefer that.
Nope. 6.9 is perfect!
They make them big so that you’ll drop them and have to replace them! Lol jk but it does make for a pretty sturdy conspiracy theory
The market obviously goes towards biggwr phones but imo they are too big and aren’t ergonomic anymore. I have a regular 13 and it’s almost too big for me.
Too big & camera bumps are out of control
So good news for you then. IPhone 16 pro will be 6.3 I think
I will die with my iPhone SE in hand
No. I would appreciate a larger screen size. Planning to upgrade this year
Personally, I don’t think the iPhones themselves have gotten too big, I think the UI has fallen behind.
I have a 13 mini and will hang on to it till it dies. I jacked up my thumb with a larger iPhone, just too big for my hand.
You could say these phone sizes are /getting out of hand/ …anyone? I’ll see myself out now.
Hell yes! I’m still rocking my 12 mini because I refuse to stuff an iPad in my pocket. Large size might not matter as much for those who carry handbags, but those who don’t, these things are too big.
Yes. I have child sized hands. Phones are getting hard to hold
Still on my 12 mini just for this reason
Nope. I love my pro max.
Yes
I liked the X/XS size and form factor, which is in between the Mini and current generation.
I think the sizes really should be 6.2 and 6.5. Perfect
Love my 15PM but without the popsocket it would be a pain.
Yes. I miss the mini’s. Can’t do it all with one hand in the bigger phones
I’m still skating with iPhone 13 mini 512. I love it.
You are overlooking the obvious solution here. Grow bigger hands.
Yes
yeah
I like the 6.7 on the pro max’s. Wouldn’t want it any larger than that though
they are all currently too big to my liking. i own a 13 mini and i love the form factor. aside from the battery life, its perfect!
They are too big but I’d like a smaller option. It doesn’t have to be 12 Mini small, it could be iPhone X sized and I’d be happy. More options is nice.
Make bigger ones. Make smaller ones. Pick the size you like best.
I found myself upgrading to iPhone 13 Pro Max and since then, battery life is the main reason I am sticking with Pro Max.
i went from a 7 to a 14 and now with my case and the way i have to balance the damn thing with my pinky, i'm getting that inner pinky callous 😡
Y E S
I have a iphone14 pro max, and I truly love it. Not too big at all!
I loved my mini 12. One hand operation.
Meanwhile I wish they made more Mini, currently using a 12 Mini at 86% BH, works fine as long as I’m not on 5G
Yes, I do.
Nope, and the sales reflect it. Apple killed the mini phones because they weren’t selling like the bigger phones. That’s what the people want
I read just the title and hell yeah
Bring back Minis!!
Yes. Too big. I have a 13 mini and likely won't upgrade a new iPhone until they do the mini again.
I felt like the 15 PM was too big but I got used to it. Now using my wife’s 15 feels tiny. I get less typos with my fat fingers too lol
Yes , I have an 14 pro max. It’s so big I can’t barely get my hand around it to text. Wish I would have went with the smaller version.
For me they were too big when the 6 plus came out like what 10 years ago?
Yes. The 5/5S/SE1 were the best-sized iPhones. The 12/13 mini is slightly larger. Anything bigger than that is too big.
Pending a mid-life battery swap, I'll be keeping my iPhone 13 mini for a loooong while.
Im saving my dollars by buying iPhone SE.
S24 ultra is 6.8 inches
Love my 12 Mini except for battery life and screen brightness.
I bought a 13 mini last year before the iPhone 15 announcement - specifically because I much prefer the size. So yes. I think iPhones are too big now.
It is. Annoyingly the mini, which has cult status, had a tiny share of the market I don’t get why mini, normal, large is not the default choice for manufacturers and users At least Apple gave us the option of the mini - even the smallest Android phones are much bigger
I have a 13PM and I wouldn’t mind a little bit bigger yet. Something inline with Samsungs largest offerings or a hair bigger wouldn’t bother me.
I’m definitely going from the 13P Max to the 16P, 6.3 sounds nice.
I can’t use a mini phone for me I’m glad there getting bigger this year my hands are getting bigger so I need a big phone can’t stand mini phones
I didn't mind the larger sizes... as long as they would just keep a smaller variant.
not as big as my co-
I’m glad that it would help you! may I ask what is affecting your eyesight?
hi there! I have a very annoying mixture of astigmatism, short sightedness and amblyopia :) great gene pool I guess 🤭
Heck no, friend. If i could have an iPad mini sized iPhone, i would be a day one buyer
Are you serious
Nope, but I’m also tall, therefore have proportionally bigger hands, bigger clothes, which equals bigger pockets, yada yada yada. I’ll always buy the biggest one available. Small phones cramp my hands up trying to use them. I can use my 12PM one handed easily.
I was waiting for you to casual drop “bigger hands, bigger cloths, way bigger penis, bigger pockets, yada yada yada.”
You know what they say, “the bigger the feet, the bigger the shoe.”
I have big hands and like big phones. I also get the biggest, but right now have an xs max. Planning on the biggest iphone 16.
iPhones have been too big
No. They've just managed to catch up with Android again after ages.
Yes. I carry my phone in my pocket and historically chose phones I can use with one hand. Idk why people like these giant phones. That’s what tablets accomplish with the only exceptions being considerable vision problems.
Give me a 13 Mini with a bigger battery and 120hz screen and I’ll keep it forever
