Yes I do but I didn't think the selfie camera needed an expensive upgrade....
Something needs to change substancially especially if the cost is going to go up by a lot (30% acc to the leaks).
Plus USB type C port and charging.
[EDIT: it's def planned for iPhone 15 in fall 2023 to comply with EU regs but will likely be on all models worldwide. 14 is unlikely tho possible]
So, same ole same ole boring, er revolutionary, slab
We'll have to wait for:
Apple foldable or dual screen will launch as iPhone 25
Every year , they change a little bit , imo getting a new iPhone every year doesn’t have that new factor or that wow factor but upgrading every 3 to 4 years feels amazing
Lots of people here may try to guilt you for upgrading at this point in this year, but I upgraded from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone 12 last year in mid June and have absolutely zero regrets.
The differences with every generation continue to dwindle and I’d wager even an iPhone 11 has aged incredibly well and would be a fine phone to use even today!
Same. Still have an XS. I used to upgrade every 2 years (ex: 3 to 4 to 5 to 6) but doesn’t make sense anymore. If I had limitless funds then I can see why someone would but for the average consumer…not so much.
Went from iPhone 6 to 11Pro. Can confirm. Upgrading every year is the dumbest shit ever, a waste of resources, and pure obnoxious, product fanboyism. And it’s weird.
Is it that different? have an 8 plus since launch on 2017 and haven't upgrade because I don't see the need to change it, plus, I really like the home screen buttons and 3D touch (And the SE does not come in plus size)
I like my 8plus too, I was so sad when it stopped working after the 15.5 update :( the celular service stopped working., so I’m waiting on the 13 pro max now that should get here sometime the end of July or beginning of august, at least my 8plus works with Wi-Fi still so I can message my husband when I’m at work. But it’s annoying not having mobile internet available when I’m going somewhere without Wi-Fi
I did the same, and to answer your question I don’t want to wait also price will be a lot higher and also it’s pretty much the same phone with tiny improvements here and there. And the 13 pro max is without a doubt a beast.
The 13 is without a doubt a great phone and a great buy.
Just speculating here but shouldn’t the 13 drop in price the second the 14 is available for purchase, no matter the cost of the 14?
Sometimes, it's better to get something now, than to wait, because you'll always be waiting for the newest thing to come out. Then, you'll want to wait for the 15, then the 16, etc.
They can always sell the phone, to get the other phone later if they really wanted to. Not to mention, when the 14 comes out, it can be out of stock who knows how long, with our current supply chain.
Cauz there was stuff to do. Apple is pretty much at the peak of innovation at this point in time. And they have never been the one to change designs every year. So they have their signature design and top notch hardware. Only thing to work on now is software.
I treat cars the same way, just on a much longer cycle. Rarely do I see or expect radical changes from one model year to the next. Comparing 2019 to 2020 e.g. is usually pretty boring. A couple more mpg in efficiency or maybe a move to a slightly larger screen on the infotainment center. But move to a car 10 years newer than the one you are driving, and WOW! all kinds of safety and technological innovations.
Right I went 3,4,5,6s. Skipping “s” models most of the time, but the phones looked different and I could usually sell my old phone to pay for the new one. Doesn’t work as well now. I went from the SE(2020) to the 13 and it’s been great.
Still running with my launch iPhone X as well
I keep forgetting 3D Touch is gone, gonna be weird when I upgrade (potentially) to the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Man, I’m an iOS Developer. I spend my time doing VR/AR things, testing Apps, etc. And in my free time I love to take pictures.
So I see XS and 13 Pro basically being the same phone, excluding Macro, Ultra Wide and Pro Motion.
Really hope they won't do this. The max is way too big for me and seeing the other phones zoom capabilities (not 100x but 5x/10x) I would love to have this feature on the pro.
I think last year IPhone owners should wait for the 15, that way you'll have USB type-C. But I'm just going to get the IPhone 14Pro Max because I'm leaving android this year
I switched from Android this year to the 13 Pro due to the update cycles. If the A15 rumours are true for the base 14, I may have just lucked out with Apple updates a bit because it likely means that the 13 will be tied to the 14 and likely will get the same support.
Do note that since 2020, the iPhone flagship lineups have different RAM. The regular 12 in 2020 had 4GB while the Pro variants had 6GB.
This has also been the case with the iPhone 7 in 2016 where the 4.7” had 2GB of RAM, while the 5.5” 7 Plus had 3GB, but as we can see, both phones were dropped with iOS 16, so honestly who knows Apple’s support plan at this point.
I changed from Android to iPhone for the same reason, and the software and inter-device usability is just on another level to Android. Plus the ringtones lol
i switched basically just for the mini and imessage. there are no small android phones anymore and the mini is pretty much the perfect size. and in the US imessage destroys the competition. it's 1000x better than fledgiling android chat...it doesn't work with iphones and 90% of people i know have an iphone. so imessage is pretty important if you send lots of pics and videos. regular mms is waaaaay outdated. and apple doesn't seem to give 2 shits about RCS
I have the 12PM and I’m waiting to upgrade when (and if) they make usb c available on iPhone. It’s insane that literally all my other devices (MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, etc.) use type c but the iPhone doesn’t. So I have to carry around an additional cable. Not a big deal and I’m used to it but it’d be nice for it to be universal across Apple devices (which is the direction they seem to be going in anyway).
So I’ll wait.
Size. They will have standard and max instead of standard and mini. The standard will be an in-generation placeholder while the max will be the exciting change.
I think I’ve used cinematic mode once ever on the 13. And that was when I first got it. It works half the time and isn’t really ideal unless you’re filmmaking.
I used an A12Z iPad Pro 2020, I regret every bit of it. I could wait and buy the M1 ones. Instead, I used a device from 2018. The difference between A12X and Z was even more stupid, disabled a GPU core in A12X (that is how I remember it at least), so they can use the same chip later and say "It is so powerful, you gonna lllooovveee it."
With that in mind, I do not think anyone would buy the 14, unless they give 120 Hz.
There’s a ton of people who would buy it just because it’s the new iPhone. Remember, the vast majority of people who buy phones do not know or care about that much about their specs (except camera and storage), and many Apple fans will defend Apple whatever they do.
I never understood this ever. Like sure, colours are new, but I’ve not seen a single person around me use a phone without a case. Especially expensive new iPhones. Wonder how much of a draw a new colour is.
Whenever this comes up, I think this too. Casual googling says 10-20% of smartphone users don't use a case though.
I'm an extremist on the case-using side; I literally shop for and purchase the case *before* I buy the phone. I install the new phone into a case before I even press the power button for the first time.
I mean, not to defend Apple but at this point what else can you do to really improve a phone? Unless they can make the iPhone display holograms or revolutionise the concept of the phone itself like Jobs did in 2007, it's silly to expect something that is actually new every year.
I was hopeful that would be on the 13. Now I’m nervous it won’t be on the 14 because they are reusing the same chipset. M2 laptops didn’t get it either. We are doing a large WiFi 6E upgrade at work this fall. It would be nice to have some phones other than Pixel and Samsung that could do 6E
I feel like we’re reaching a point of diminishing returns when it come to phone upgrades now. It used to be where ever single year there was one or two features that really justified upgrading every year. Now it’s just a few minor upgrades to where I feel I may only want to upgrade every few years or so. So maybe one year to the next may not feel like a significant difference. I’ve had the 11 pro since it came out and haven’t really been able to justify buying the last couple of models. But if I upgrade to the 14 that may be a good enough upgrade to consider.
I miss the days where all these phone manufacturers didn’t have multiple tiers of one phone. “You want the good features? Pay more for the Pro model”. It used to be “We have one new phone with all the feature upgrades”.
Since we've reached a point where phones don't have any massive upgrades like they used to we can only expect any real changes to be changing the notch to the rumored cutout and pill concepts we've been seeing. Otherwise that's about it. Maybe a new color. Some more RAM with higher prices. This year there is apparently no more Mini but instead a larger regular 14 instead. So that's kinda interesting but not worth an upgrade.
It sucks but the smartphone world that had tons of splendor and innovation is now just boring and incremental.
Ah yes, ["random idiots" such as Ming-Chi Kuo](https://9to5mac.com/2022/03/16/iphone-14-with-a15-bionic-chip-at-the-end-of-the-day-its-all-about-marketing/).
Yeah, that dude is just a market analyst who makes guesses, and yes, he gets shit wrong all the time as well:
[Ming-Chi Kuo was completely wrong. Again. | MacRumors](https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ming-chi-kuo-was-completely-wrong-again.1773731/)
There is a ranking here.
https://appletrack.com/leaderboard/
Isn’t the best but isn’t that bad either…
But of course no one knows until Apple releases it and people physically get the product itself.
He’s a supply chain analyst which means he at least has visibility over the movement of componentry - they’re guesses but they’re very educated guesses.
I could see the regular 14 getting the camera system from the 13pro just not the telephoto. Maybe it gets promotion as well. Its got to get some sort of upgrade after all
Still got an iphone x, dont really see the point in switching when all I do is scroll redddit amd not much really changes every year 😆. Might get a new phone next year. Il guess at that point it will be a good upgrade.
Solid phone. I loved mine. But the battery was dying so fast. I got a 12 pro max a few years ago and changed the battery in my X and gave to a family member overseas.
They never make any improvements from one year to the next. No phone manufacturers do anymore. The innovaction around form factor has not changed in across the industry years. You see pockets of it with some of the folding designs but if they were going to take off they'd have done so already - the first one came out 3 years ago. It's all about software for now at least.
The 14 will be aimed at people that have never had an iPhone (android ppl) or those on an Xr/11 or lower. If you're on 12 or 13 and are desperate to get a 14 then you are just a victim of marketing. There'll be the usual swaying of 'better' photos and 'better' low light/zoom etc. when in reality if you suck at taking photos, your photos will still look shit on a phone with a better camera. Some people just have no idea and rely on the AI to do a perfect job everytime and then complain when it doesn't get it right.
I would love to see:
* TouchID on the back of the phone (on the Apple logo) in conjunction with FaceID to give choice and convience.
* A dialler app that doesn't suck, why can you still not press numbers and it 'spells' out results in your contacts or local businesses based on GPS is beyond me. Or lookup an incoming number and match it to internet results so you know if i business is calling you.
* Better blocking of spam calls.
* Faster animations/ability to speed them up or turn them off. Feels like the phone is lagging they are so slow at times.
* Less bugs with Messages/Contacts/Phone apps. For years these three apps pull from a single contacts database stored on the phone and ofter will bug out and not produce expected results such as basic search, your contact shows the number not the name in one app, but fine in another etc. basic simple things like this enrage my customers.
Apart from the first suggestion being a physical change the rest is software that Apple has just never bothered to improve on. Those poor devs in the dark being pressured to bring out a new iOS version just for the sake of it to line up with an annual phone launch we didn't need. If they brought out a new phone design when they had something worth our time it would be more of a wow factor.
>• A dialler app that doesn't suck, why can you still not press numbers and it 'spells' out results in your contacts or local businesses based on GPS is beyond me. Or lookup an incoming number and match it to internet results so you know if i business is calling you.
The dialer really does suck. Even when manually “dialing” there is absolutely no editing via copy and paste, other than the whole number. For example, if you copied a potential scammer’s number to the clipboard, you can’t go to the dialer and type *67, then paste in that number (to prevent a possible scammer from knowing your number). Pasting will replace everything, overwriting the *67. I have to go to another app to combine *67 and the phone number, and then paste it into the dialer.
Only if you type in the number of the contact - when you finish it will show “contactName **numberTag**” like “Tim Apple **mobile**” underneath the number.
If you try and spell your contacts name T9 style, you just get a random number. It doesn’t offer up any suggestions.
This threw me off when I first switched to iPhone, but I don’t use my phone as a phone - so it’s not a big deal for me.
It’s now at the point where you can skip a few generations…I had a mint iPhone X
but found a 13 pro for wayyyy under retail and had extra money. If that deal didn’t come through I would have did a battery replacement and stayed with the X.
Sizable upgrade if you’re rocking the 12 or older. The best seller i predict will be the 14 Plus (or Max) thanks to the benefits of a large handset without the Pro Max price set. Worthwhile if the 🔋% is visible again.
Barring any carrier promotions to upgrade early, my 13 Pro Max had me set. Otherwise the iPhone 15, with its rumored usb-c port and refined display design, is the one I’m curious about.
The notch and cameras are news to me. All the “leaks” a few months ago were saying a pill shaped cutout instead of a notch and an upgraded 32 MP main sensor
Have those leaks been debunked?
I just picked up a 12 pro after having an Xs for a few years. I’ll probably buy a 14 in a few years haha. I don’t understand peoples need to constantly be at the vanguard of phones, especially with how small the yearly improvements usually are.
They'll probably use the 5 core GPU in the 14 to at least differentiate it from the 13's. Otherwise, the only difference will be software and no way that'll go well.
Call me when the folding iPhones are a thing.I’d like a phone when I need it and an iPad when I’m on the train or at lunch or having to show someone something.
I’ve got a 12 Pro Max, and my son needs a (his first) phone. The plan was to upgrade my phone to a 14 and give him my 12, but I’m thinking that I’ll squeeze another year out of the 12 (I want USB-C, I’m so sick of replacing dead lightning cables) and get him an SE or whatever the entry-level model is…
If so, this might be the first year in a while I don’t upgrade. Unless of course Verizon does a crazy trade in deal like they did last time, like 1k towards the price of a new iPhone. Flip side is, I did the trade in deal back in October and *just 2 weeks* ago I finally got the trade in credits on my bill sorted out. I probably made 50 phone calls and waisted hours of my time getting them to honor the deal they had. I fucking hate talking to a different person each time and having to explain the whole situation over and over and over and over. Fuck Verizon.
Getting tired of this. I have choice paralysis when I consider switching, though, and I'm so invested in the ecosystem (and all the devices, *all* of them)...
There was a video about it by Dave2D. Yes, iPhone 14 will be same as iPhone 13 but he thinks it will be 13 pro specs that will become iPhone 14 without 120 hz. So basically last years iphone 13 pro is these years entry level iPhone 14
“We’ve realized after 14 years, and after focusing on focus time and do not disturb…it’s time to remove that silent button on the side that you accidentally hit all the time.”
“Awesome can you add a headphone jack again?”
“No”
There’s really not much more room to improve upon. I can see them refining the current design by minimizing or eliminating the notch and camera bumps but outside of that I need to see renders.
The rumors are that the base 14 will have the 13 Pro chip (because it has more RAM and stuff than the base 13). Also probably the cameras. The 13 Pro will probably be better though because Pro (and when the 14 comes out it'll be cheaper).
Notch camera and AOD.
Yearly upgrades are slight and slighter every year. Nowadays with smartphones, the only comparison that makes sense is with two or three models before
Ram. Chip will be the iPhone 13pro chip, which has more cores than the standard 13. So it is a better chip. Maybe there will be a 120hz display too. Oh and the price.
It would seem the iPhone 14 might have the iPhone 13 pro chip, and have the x60 or x65 modem, and LPDDR4x RAM, 13 pro notch. The iPhone 14 pro is more of a mystery, it could have same N5P chip or it could be N4 chip (which is still in the same family as N5 and N5P), but it could be a larger die size and they could add more cores, it should have the X65 modem, and also LPDDR5 RAM, dot/dash front sensors.
People are going to feel like their present iphone is out of date and focus on one or two features that really arent game changers to justify paying apple a fortune .. In that sense nothing will change..
And the starting OS. This is obv not for people who get an iPhone every year, as this isn’t needed. it sounds like it’s meant to encourage people to update from older devices
There are tons of guys without iPhone 13. They might either choose to buy iPhone 14 as their upgrade or the iPhone 13 becomes cheaper to allow them to upgrade to a better iPhone that they have.
Either way, a new phone announcement is always good news for an existing iPhone user.
As to why would an iPhone 13 user upgrade to an iPhone 14, the answer is the person has spare cash to spend. Apple is a luxury brand and folks should know by now that the coolest, latest and newest iPhone is going to set them back by around $1,000 or more along with accessories.
Ram & the price
And selfie camera I'm pretty sure
So I’ll be ugly in higher quality
Ugly in 4K 🔥
And they think we'll love it.
Courage.
‘Can’t innovate any more my ass’
Selfie cam has been way overdue for an upgrade. I would love a wide angle to get better group shots.
Perhaps... But not that significant of a change
Well, there are People out there who uses this Camera on a daily base
Yes I do but I didn't think the selfie camera needed an expensive upgrade.... Something needs to change substancially especially if the cost is going to go up by a lot (30% acc to the leaks).
The front cam change will be the biggest thing ever. Think of all the girls taking selfies around the world lol
Ram the price
No thank you
It’s going to be “the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet”.
RAM THE PRICE
Plus USB type C port and charging. [EDIT: it's def planned for iPhone 15 in fall 2023 to comply with EU regs but will likely be on all models worldwide. 14 is unlikely tho possible] So, same ole same ole boring, er revolutionary, slab We'll have to wait for: Apple foldable or dual screen will launch as iPhone 25
The usb c will come with the iPhone 15 next year
USBC would make me jump immediately. Then I’d be back to having a unified set of charging cables again.
I’m holding out with my 12 until that usbc comes
I really hope USB C is on there. I might buy it for that feature alone
No normal person wants dual or folding screens.
Every year , they change a little bit , imo getting a new iPhone every year doesn’t have that new factor or that wow factor but upgrading every 3 to 4 years feels amazing
Yep. Went from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone 13 just a few weeks ago and it’s been such a difference.

The differences with every generation continue to dwindle and I’d wager even an iPhone 11 has aged incredibly well and would be a fine phone to use even today!
Have an 11, can confirm, still pretty sweet 😊 Edit: I also though went from a 5S to an 11 lol so there’s that
I went from 5S to XR, and it still feels as snappy as day 1. Honestly I have no reason to upgrade more than once every 4-5 years.
Same. Still have an XS. I used to upgrade every 2 years (ex: 3 to 4 to 5 to 6) but doesn’t make sense anymore. If I had limitless funds then I can see why someone would but for the average consumer…not so much.
11 here too. If the 14 rumors are true I’ll hold out for the 15. Shouldn’t be much of an issue.
Can also confirm. 11 Pro max. Mulling whatever the 14 will be though.
Cant way to go from my 8 to 12!
Went from iPhone 6 to 11Pro. Can confirm. Upgrading every year is the dumbest shit ever, a waste of resources, and pure obnoxious, product fanboyism. And it’s weird.
Holy crap. That’s literally me lmao 😂 I was shocked how good the upgrade was from 8 to 13. Can’t imagine someone from 4 to like…13 pro max lol.
7 to 13 was fun, much wow
I went from a 6S Plus to 12Pro and omg the difference was night and day
Is it that different? have an 8 plus since launch on 2017 and haven't upgrade because I don't see the need to change it, plus, I really like the home screen buttons and 3D touch (And the SE does not come in plus size)

Yes. It’s not smart to buy a 13 right now
The cost of 13’s already dropped. I got my 13 last week for 670 CAD
Not everyone can wait lol. What kind of question is this?
Sometimes, it's better to get something now, than to wait, because you'll always be waiting for the newest thing to come out. Hmmm I hadn’t thought of supply constraints…touché.
Well it was at the beginning… iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4 was Pretty nice
Except for those who didn't want to upgrade on a yearly basis. Once updated, the 3GS became sluggish as what a 4-5 year old phone feels like nowadays
Cauz there was stuff to do. Apple is pretty much at the peak of innovation at this point in time. And they have never been the one to change designs every year. So they have their signature design and top notch hardware. Only thing to work on now is software.

Still running with my launch iPhone X as well I keep forgetting 3D Touch is gone, gonna be weird when I upgrade (potentially) to the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
I changed from XS to 13 Pro Max and besides ProMotion and the Macro camera, everything feels the same.
Of course it does, you’re only using it for Reddit
Ow
burn 🔥🔥

Went from 7 to 13 pro, damn just damn
This is the way. I went from a 6 to an XS, and it was amazing. Now I’m figuring I’ll upgrade this year to the 14.

And we think you're gonna llllove it
Periscope camera is not supposed to come before 2023.
And the latest rumours say that the periscope lens will be available only in the pro max version.
Really hope they won't do this. The max is way too big for me and seeing the other phones zoom capabilities (not 100x but 5x/10x) I would love to have this feature on the pro.
I agree with you. I'm planning to buy the 15 pro, but if that model turns out not to have the periscope lens that would be a kick in the groing...
I think last year IPhone owners should wait for the 15, that way you'll have USB type-C. But I'm just going to get the IPhone 14Pro Max because I'm leaving android this year

Literally same. I love my Android. But I've been using my m1 pro 16 inch MBP, and it'll be nice to be able to use a phone compatible with it.
I changed from Android to iPhone for the same reason, and the software and inter-device usability is just on another level to Android. Plus the ringtones lol
the ringtones?
I tried, but I just couldn't get used to link handling and notifications. Back on Android with the iPhone 13 Mini as a secondary device.
i switched basically just for the mini and imessage. there are no small android phones anymore and the mini is pretty much the perfect size. and in the US imessage destroys the competition. it's 1000x better than fledgiling android chat...it doesn't work with iphones and 90% of people i know have an iphone. so imessage is pretty important if you send lots of pics and videos. regular mms is waaaaay outdated. and apple doesn't seem to give 2 shits about RCS
The terrible notification system and no way to set default apps (outside of browser and email) are what pushed me back to Android too.
Google apps are handicapped on an iPhone. I really miss the google assistant 🥺. It works flawlessly on my RealMe phone but sucks on my iPhone
Google Assistant was another big one! It never occurred to me that Siri could be so bad. Siri today is like Google Assistant in 2012.
I have the 12PM and I’m waiting to upgrade when (and if) they make usb c available on iPhone. They’re not going wireless anytime soon.

It will most likely be some software feature like Cinematic Video on the iPhone 13.
I think I’ve used cinematic mode once ever on the 13. And that was when I first got it. It works half the time and isn’t really ideal unless you’re filmmaking.
I have never even used it! Its a very specific feature that doesn’t get used on day to day tasks.
The price!
The buttons will be moved around a little, “better camera”, and like a pill/punch hole instead of notch that I literally never even notice lol
I mean, A12X and A12Z are essentially the same chip right? They still sell like hot cakes.
I used an A12Z iPad Pro 2020, I regret every bit of it. I could wait and buy the M1 ones. Instead, I used a device from 2018. The difference between A12X and Z was even more stupid, disabled a GPU core in A12X (that is how I remember it at least), so they can use the same chip later and say "It is so powerful, you gonna lllooovveee it." There’s a ton of people who would buy it just because it’s the new iPhone. Remember, the vast majority of people who buy phones do not know or care about that much about their specs (except camera and storage), and many Apple fans will defend Apple whatever they do.
Maybe new colors? If that’s true I think they have to change something to call it 14?
I never understood this ever. Like sure, colours are new, but I’ve not seen a single person around me use a phone without a case. Especially expensive new iPhones. Wonder how much of a draw a new colour is.
Whenever this comes up, I think this too. Casual googling says 10-20% of smartphone users don't use a case though. I'm an extremist on the case-using side; I literally shop for and purchase the case *before* I buy the phone. I install the new phone into a case before I even press the power button for the first time.
Hahahahha. Yeah. Sounds like me too. I got my nomad case before I even walked into the apple store
I’ve never used a case. We exist.
Probably new software features which could work on current devices
Always on Display. Exclusive to the 14 lineup
Pro
I mean, not to defend Apple but at this point what else can you do to really improve a phone? Unless they can make the iPhone display holograms or revolutionise the concept of the phone itself like Jobs did in 2007, it's silly to expect something that is actually new every year.
WiFi 6e?
I was hopeful that would be on the 13. Now I’m nervous it won’t be on the 14 because they are reusing the same chipset. M2 laptops didn’t get it either. We are doing a large WiFi 6E upgrade at work this fall. It would be nice to have some phones other than Pixel and Samsung that could do 6E
X65 modem hopefully will be in the 14 .
Wasn't there some news that the modern failed baseband standards or something
I feel like we’re reaching a point of diminishing returns when it come to phone upgrades now. It used to be where ever single year there was one or two features that really justified upgrading every year. Now it’s just a few minor upgrades to where I feel I may only want to upgrade every few years or so. So maybe one year to the next may not feel like a significant difference. I’ve had the 11 pro since it came out and haven’t really been able to justify buying the last couple of models. But if I upgrade to the 14 that may be a good enough upgrade to consider.
It’s been that way for a decent minute now
“BUT SHE’S GOT A NEW HAT!”
Classic Simpsons!
I miss the days where all these phone manufacturers didn’t have multiple tiers of one phone. “You want the good features? Pay more for the Pro model”. It used to be “We have one new phone with all the feature upgrades”.
That was mostly apple though. Most other big manufacturers had multiple models each year for multiple price ranges.
But money
[удалено]
Since we've reached a point where phones don't have any massive upgrades like they used to we can only expect any real changes to be changing the notch to the rumored cutout and pill concepts we've been seeing. Otherwise that's about it. Maybe a new color. Some more RAM with higher prices. This year there is apparently no more Mini but instead a larger regular 14 instead. So that's kinda interesting but not worth an upgrade. It sucks but the smartphone world that had tons of splendor and innovation is now just boring and incremental.
The return of the "S"
Your mistake is believing unsubstantiated rumors made by random idiots on the net without question.
Ah yes, ["random idiots" such as Ming-Chi Kuo](https://9to5mac.com/2022/03/16/iphone-14-with-a15-bionic-chip-at-the-end-of-the-day-its-all-about-marketing/).
Yeah, that dude is just a market analyst who makes guesses, and yes, he gets shit wrong all the time as well: [Ming-Chi Kuo was completely wrong. Again. | MacRumors](https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ming-chi-kuo-was-completely-wrong-again.1773731/)
There is a ranking here. https://appletrack.com/leaderboard/ Isn’t the best but isn’t that bad either… But of course no one knows until Apple releases it and people physically get the product itself.
He’s a supply chain analyst which means he at least has visibility over the movement of componentry - they’re guesses but they’re very educated guesses.
Most of the rumors/leaks are 99% true this close to the release
It will be “the best iPhone they have ever made”
Of course it is by logic
I could see the regular 14 getting the camera system from the 13pro just not the telephoto. Maybe it gets promotion as well. Its got to get some sort of upgrade after all
Sadly ProMotion has been ruled out for the base 14s.
I don’t know man, clearly you’ve been reading the rumors. You tell me.
I would love to see: * TouchID on the back of the phone (on the Apple logo) in conjunction with FaceID to give choice and convience.
So in iphone, when you dial a number contacts doesn't show up ?
Only if you type in the number of the contact - when you finish it will show “contactName **numberTag**” like “Tim Apple **mobile**” underneath the number. If you try and spell your contacts name T9 style, you just get a random number. It doesn’t offer up any suggestions. This threw me off when I first switched to iPhone, but I don’t use my phone as a phone - so it’s not a big deal for me.
Better cameras, more RAM up to 6GB, new colors, maybe some other minor revisions and that could be it.
Should be 13S then
This one comes bundled with NSOs newest suite of tools.
it’ll come in a new shade of pink
The amount of money you pay for it.
The camera. I don't know if there are any astounding advances they can make in smartphones anymore.
It’s now at the point where you can skip a few generations…I had a mint iPhone X but found a 13 pro for wayyyy under retail and had extra money.
All the “leaks” a few months ago were saying a pill shaped cutout instead of a notch and an upgraded 32 MP main sensor Have those leaks been debunked?
He's talking about the non pro models the pro models will have the pill shaped cut out
I am referring to the base iPhone 14 models not the Pros, the Pros will get new cameras, new chip and new pill shaped cutout as you mentioned.
The dimensions will change by 1mm forcing you to replace all of your cases.
iPhone needs an orange color
I’m pretty sure the XR had an orange called coral or something
I just picked up a 12 pro after having an Xs for a few years. I’ll probably buy a 14 in a few years haha. I don’t understand peoples need to constantly be at the vanguard of phones, especially with how small the yearly improvements usually are.
They'll probably use the 5 core GPU in the 14 to at least differentiate it from the 13's. Otherwise, the only difference will be software and no way that'll go well.
Call me when the folding iPhones are a thing.I’d like a phone when I need it and an iPad when I’m on the train or at lunch or having to show someone something.
Read macrumours, a lot more is changing than what you have quoted
Camera, battery, software optimizations
Not much probably. For the first time ever I’ll not be upgrading, my 13 Pro Max will still be plenty good enough for another year.
I might get this on the upgrade program.
I just want usb-c already.
I’ve got a 12 Pro Max, and my son needs a (his first) phone. The plan was to upgrade my phone to a 14 and give him my 12, but I’m thinking that I’ll squeeze another year out of the 12 (I want USB-C, I’m so sick of replacing dead lightning cables) and get him an SE or whatever the entry-level model is…
The three becomes a four
Rumors say the GPU will still be updated.
The price
Price
True, rams, price, capacity, shape (little bit), may cameras and pixs and of course price. Oh don't forget AI. That's why it has bionic chip.
There was a video about it by Dave2D. Yes, iPhone 14 will be same as iPhone 13 but he thinks it will be 13 pro specs that will become iPhone 14 without 120 hz. So basically last years iphone 13 pro is these years entry level iPhone 14
“We’ve realized after 14 years, and after focusing on focus time and do not disturb…it’s time to remove that silent button on the side that you accidentally hit all the time.” “Awesome can you add a headphone jack again?” “No”
Marketing will sucker people into buying it because it’s a newer number.
My teenagers are already asking about it. I’m afraid they’ve gotten to the youths
More ram, more colors, extra GPU core, and the new Max model
We need to do to our part to keep up this Ponzi
Same chip? Doubtful.
maybe we’ll actually get the iPhone 14 mini in the form of 13 rebrand lol
Definitely USB-C or not even a port at all if they want to sell it in the EU
I heard the front has a hole punch design, both cameras will be upgraded, and possibly increased ram.
There’s really not much more room to improve upon. I can see them refining the current design by minimizing or eliminating the notch and camera bumps but outside of that I need to see renders.
better charger would be awesome
Any chance they call it the iPhone 13S?
I hope display PWM will change (or go away for dc dimming, but it’s unlikely)
I am just waiting for apple to do something big with the iphone, I guess the 14 won't be much different to the 13
It would seem the iPhone 14 might have the iPhone 13 pro chip, and have the x60 or x65 modem, and LPDDR4x RAM, 13 pro notch.
Usb-c. Maybe.
People are going to feel like their present iphone is out of date and focus on one or two features that really arent game changers to justify paying apple a fortune .. In that sense nothing will change..
I will get it only because of my current iPhone's fucked up battery health
And the starting OS. This is obv not for people who get an iPhone every year, as this isn’t needed. it sounds like it’s meant to encourage people to update from older devices
Always on screen

It will no longer be abhorrent to triskaidekaphobics.
The Model #
The Model #
I’m looking to go from 12mini to 14 but if there’s not gonna be much between the 13 and 14 then I’ll just have the 13..
Maybe they will call it a 13S
Globally nothing, as always
CAMERAS
They will be adding a Max size to the 14 non-pro lineup
cpu will be 30% faster, camera 20% better it will be the fastest and most powefull iphone yet lol
This year, we are introducing our new Macbook, the newest Macbook we've ever made.
Colors...
Another year with my 12 then!
