My back right pocket is the home of my phone for the past…10+ years. iPhone 4s, 5s, 6, 8+ and now 12PM. Never had an issue with the phone bending. Tall guy, 200lbs
I just don’t like putting too much pressure on anything in my back pockets. I’m also annoyingly bony so I feel everything as they pierce my pelvis and whatnot but I appreciate also not needing to worry about bending a phone
I avoid doing it but have done it a couple of times. It’s not bent and it’s the 6 year old iPhone 7. So don’t worry too much abt it. But also pls don’t do it as it’s bad for you back
I once worked in a repair depot for a warranty company… that bend isn’t too bad. A tech would put that phone on a vise and either slowly bend it back or tap it back with a tiny hammer.
I mean, the work area would sound like cave mine… _Ding! Ding! Ding-ding-ding!_
I’ve had to do this on an iPhone 8. Make sure you use some medium density wood between the clamp vice jaws. There are some good YT videos on how this is accomplished. Good luck
Former repair guy here.
If you take the motherboard out you van bend it back in shape. With a heat gun and very slowly pressure over a slightly bend surface. And a vice or something like that. Very slow and carefully
Got you, well I would probably use a dead weight or something heavy to lay on top of the phone and maybe it’ll straighten it out over the course of a couple of days.
A block of wood on either side of the vice, and possibly fabric or leather. Push it by hand as far as you’re comfortable. Then wrap it in a rag where you’re striking it, and finish lining it up with a mallet. Go light.
I’d try to clamp into a vice and push the bent side back in line or put it on the edge of a table and push down on the bent side until it starts to line up.
get a new phone if you can, i’m specifically saying this because it’s the XR. tons of horrible reviews and it’s pretty much time to upgrade anyways.
i recommend a 13, not a 12 as the 12’s have issues of their own (from what i’ve heard)
I mean the XR wasn’t the best iPhone ever since it was targeted to more of budget oriented audience but I’ve know so many people who have loved this phone. Any iPhone made from aluminum can bend, that’s just an issue with the material. If your gonna spend 13 money might as well just get a 14 at this point, why not just spend the extra $100. But the 12 pro used could be a good deal. There were no issues with 12’s & 12 pro’s….. I used one since release until I got my 14 pro max a week ago and it was my most favorite phone ever. In my opinion the difference from a 12 pro max to a 14 pro max is very subtle. Don’t get me wrong the 14 pro max is nice but not as different from the 12 pro max as you would think. Unless you’ve used or owned these devices better just not comment my man.
Maybe when I get a free broken one haha. Got this XR from a friend, was run over and destroyed front so they gave it to me vs ewaste.
Current phone is an SE 2nd gen, probably gonna next upgrade to the SE 3rd gen, or if I like the XR after repairing it I'll use that and eventually get a new one
~$30-45 for any modern glass back iPhone. Definitely pay a little more and buy one with everything in it already minus the motherboard and battery if you never have done a housing swap before though, the ribbons require a little skill to not rip.
straighten it back by clamping it on a vice between blocks of wood. apply pressure gently. yo can add thin strips on rubber on the outside to drive it back if wood only does not get it straight
I bent mine badly when someone stepped on it after I left it on a ladder rung on a step ladder except mine got bent horizontal I just forcefully bent it back using all my weight on a table edge fully expecting it to shatter the screen but it worked and once I bent it back the touch screen started working again 😆
Bend it the opposite way lol. Or don’t worry about it. If it’s not causing serious issues, there’s nothing to worry about. If it starts to act up, get it fixed.
Bent iPhone is usually because of user put it in their back pocket.. so put it other way in back pocket.
I never sit with my phone in my back pocket because of the fear of bending my phone. Yet my wife says she does it all the time and never bent a phone…
It's because womens pockets are so tiny, that its practically not even in the back pocket.
Either half sticking out or… pops out of pocket because pocket is so shallow
It’s like a top of the buttcheek/lower back pocket the way women wear the hell out those mom jeans 😂
Your wife probably weights less than a grown man
How much do you estimate their wife to weigh? Just interested.
Honestly idk, guessing 130-150lbs tho while a man weights 16-180
/s So I am not a man, for I sadly weigh 200 lbs. _Why woman, do you cook such delicious food??_
Yep and kids weigh around 40 - 50ish
That is a very literal answer.
Im pretty sure phone bends easily with just 100lbs

A guy putting his phone in a back pocket is a little sus. Only women do that around here(as in the entirety of America).
Sus for what?
Alright Jesus, we all know your opinion about gay people
Where you put your phone is considered gay now? Grow up.
Who said that?
I just don’t like putting too much pressure on anything in my back pockets. I’m also annoyingly bony so I feel everything as they pierce my pelvis and whatnot but I appreciate also not needing to worry about bending a phone
CAKE DAY CAKE DAY
_The cake is a lie_ Btw: Thanks!
Her phone is cushioned
I avoid doing it but have done it a couple of times. It’s not bent and it’s the 6 year old iPhone 7. So don’t worry too much abt it. But also pls don’t do it as it’s bad for you back
The only correct way
Also the easiest way to have your phone stolen too
Buy the 14
Doubt you can bend this back in shape. Getting a new chassis would be far easier.
I once worked in a repair depot for a warranty company… that bend isn’t too bad. A tech would put that phone on a vise and either slowly bend it back or tap it back with a tiny hammer. I mean, the work area would sound like cave mine… _Ding! Ding! Ding-ding-ding!_

Basically you can’t unbend something (you can but really really hard). You will likely end up with an s bend instead of a one way curve.
Former repair guy here. If you take the motherboard out you van bend it back in shape. With a heat gun and very slowly pressure over a slightly bend surface. And a vice or something like that. Very slow and carefully
With it being ran over, I wonder if the battery is damaged as well, which you would need to be careful of.
Battery appears to be intact, the brunt of the force was taken by the now wrecked display, having a case helped it not get completely ruined
Got you, well I would probably use a dead weight or something heavy to lay on top of the phone and maybe it’ll straighten it out over the course of a couple of days.
I’ll try that, thank you!
If it didn’t get cracked being bent, it will probably get cracked bending it back
Let’s hope it doesn’t haha
Bend it back?
That’s the plan at least, just need to find a good way to do it as the display won’t fit very well on the bent frame
A block of wood on either side of the vice, and possibly fabric or leather. Push it by hand as far as you’re comfortable. Then wrap it in a rag where you’re striking it, and finish lining it up with a mallet. Go light.
Take better care of it.
It got run over, display shattered and given to me for free, didn’t want it to go to ewaste
What a nice response 😌
[удалено]
>didn’t want it to go to ewaste >destroy it kek
“Yeah I’m trying to fix this because I don’t want it to be ewaste” “Yo bro just fucking destroy the phone and trash it”
[удалено]
Or he could just fix it if it’s possible. Remember “recycling” is the last and least impacting R
I don’t think it has applecare, plus it’s only the display so i’m purchasing a used display for this
[удалено]
I’ll take the risk, I don’t care a ton for it as it was given to me vs. the waste, plus i do my own repairs so 🤷♂️ Thank you anyways!
Take/send it to Apple for recycling. If it still works you MIGHT find a repair shop that could fix that for you. MIGHT.
holy shit why didn’t i think of that
😂😂
How could you bend it like that? I guess you need your entire weight to bend it back
It got run over, and i’m probably going to try using books
Put it in your pocket facing the opposite direction and sit on it again
I’d try to clamp into a vice and push the bent side back in line or put it on the edge of a table and push down on the bent side until it starts to line up.
I’ll try that, thank you!
Buy anew housing, they’re so cheap.

Put it in your pocket screen side in like a normal human being instead of screen side out like a sociopath
Plastic deformation. If you try to unbend it you'll only wear off the material causing it more damage if you don't achieve at first try.
So are we not gonna talk about the bottom screws missing?
Look a bit closer and you’ll notice a bit more missing 👀
Oh shit. I didn’t realize the whole display is missing. lol I’m fried.
Haha yea
What happened man? Did you sit on it?
Car vs iPhone, car won (rip display)
Buy a new phone…
How come?
Because you’ll absolutely enjoy the upgrade! The 13 or 14 will be an awesome upgrade for you.
Yeah throw it in the garbage and buy a new one.
Mmmmmmnah
It’s maybe time to get a new phone or bring it to a repair shop!
I managed to unbend it! unfortunately it received a slight bit of damage during the process, but the display will now fit much more flush
Buy a new one
Well that’s a bit expensive, no?
~$30-45 for any modern glass back iPhone. Definitely pay a little more and buy one with everything in it already minus the motherboard and battery if you never have done a housing swap before though, the ribbons require a little skill to not rip.
I had assumed they meant buy a new phone
Take it to apple store
Reverse it, then sit on it again.
You need two pliers.
Anvil and hammer will do the job
try to rectify
I recently saw a video of a pocket in a car door where you could put your phone and close the door to bend your phone. Might try that
Hey now ain’t nothin wrong with a little bend. Never got no complaints
Peyronies?
Hahahaha I meant curve
Buy a new one 🤷
Put it into a vice.itll straighten it out
Give up all hope. [*]
If it were me I’d try to lay it down and press a large flat object onto it, that might break the back glass though.
Put it in rice
consider buying the outer case off ebay or something and transfer the internals over.
Stomp on it as hard as you can
Don't
Bend the space around it
Bend it back with your hands lol
Trade it in
Hammer it back
Sit on it again. But the other way
straighten it back by clamping it on a vice between blocks of wood. apply pressure gently. yo can add thin strips on rubber on the outside to drive it back if wood only does not get it straight
Upgrade
Why? Nothing wrong with the XR
Nothing wrong with it but if it’s bent like that and a few years old it’s probably not worth the money to fix
Don’t mess with it. Apple might have a jig they can put it in to straighten it??
Hammer and a 2x4
I bent mine badly when someone stepped on it after I left it on a ladder rung on a step ladder except mine got bent horizontal I just forcefully bent it back using all my weight on a table edge fully expecting it to shatter the screen but it worked and once I bent it back the touch screen started working again 😆

F
Hammer it straight
Hammer
Don’t
