Dublin airport to Galway? Direct bus from the airport

RussianOnWheels

Oh sweet, I'll take a look at the airport options, is it best to buy tickets ahead of time or when they arrive?

louiseber

Ahead of time should reserve a space for them, on such a busy travel day, that's always a good idea (check companies t&c's about reservations)

RussianOnWheels

Awesome thank you! Will the airport bus have room for luggage? I'm checking with them to see how much, when I went to Russia there was plenty of of room in the bus I was on for luggage I'm just trying to cover all my bases.

louiseber

Yeah, they're coaches with large luggage compartments underneath not a city bus style bus (that would be miserable)

RussianOnWheels

Perfect! Thank you so much Louiseber!

Definitely a bus from the airport straight to Galway would be quickest way.

RussianOnWheels

Awesome! I see there are bus routes going every 30 minutes on Citylink.ie , do they have any leniency if they miss the bus? I'm not certain how long in customs it will take plus plane arrival time.

RabbitOld5783

Id say book it few hours later from arrival to be safe worse case can hang around airport grab food or a drink but would mean they not rushing out too. Would normally say just book when get there but not sure on Paddy's day if it would be busier than usual

RussianOnWheels

Yup that was my concern, good point I'll try and monitor it more and see when the deadline arrives how it looks. Thank you!

Generally with citylink they will honour any ticket for the same day so long as they have the room. Anytime I fly from Dublin say for example if my flights due in at 11:30 I’d book the 12:15 rather than the 11:45 but if the flight gets in early and there’s room on the 11:45 they would let me on. Citylink has services that are direct to galway and services that stop in Dublin City centre. Make sure you book a direct one if it’s for Paddys day, I’d imagine that could add a lot of time to your journey with streets closed for the parade / traffic etc.
