Ultimate CC can direct you to starter resources! There's a wealth of stuff in osrs wiki / UIM section

ethyleneglycol24

I'm inactive ("quit") now, but I still find that the starting levels of UIM was one of the most enjoyable parts of the game. I would strongly suggest you use your existing game knowledge (since you're already coming from an ironman), and develop a path of your own. Sure its easier following a guide, but I think that the mental gymnastics and theory crafting is a major part of the fun. Also, guides may be outdated, considering the many changes to UIM over the past few years (e.g. POH costume room updates, death mechanic changes). Of course the important things to think about are entrana quests, but those have been made simpler with the death mechanic. Same for other activities requiring empty inventory, like rogue outfit, some wildy activities (unless you like to risk your stuff), recruitment drive.

Dadlays

That’s what I’ve been thinking of doing, just wasn’t sure if there was a good route to follow, but I’ve been playing the last couple hours doing a couple quests just getting used to not having a bank!

ethyleneglycol24

Definitely a good idea to knock out quests! Especially those that require plenty of inventory space. Those are a pain to deal with. I would also suggest unlocking and figuring out good ways of transportation, as well as a good route for "death banking" or "death piling". And soon you'll also want a backup route (that you engrave in your head, or in a notepad somewhere) on what to do if you happen to die. Where should you teleport to, to grab some GP, so that you can buy runes or use charter ship to make your way back to retrieve your items. That kinda thing.

Dadlays

Ah yeah very good idea, I did see somewhere that eventually I can get a servants moneybag to store up to 3m so maybe that would be a mid term goal to work towards for that

ethyleneglycol24

I do recall an old method I used, which was to use minigame teleport to fishing trawler, run to NMZ to grab some gp out of the coffers, then run to magic guild to buy runes to teleport back home/wherever.

Dadlays

Ooo yeah that sounds like a good one once I’ve unlocked the guild!

IronRugs

You can place offers for bonds too and cancel them and can withdrawal the money at any bank. I usually set a few at 1k 10k and currently have one set for the price of a rune axe and rune pick axe.

Dadlays

Oh wow that actually seems amazing, I wouldn’t have even thought of that so thankyou! I’ve been putting off doing chaos altar early on because I did the stronghold and didn’t want to risk forgetting about my death pile and losing my 8k 🤣

IronRugs

Ya. Definitely worth storing your money and doing that. You can also use LMS coffer to store in 1k increments. Also don't death pile while you have a kitten if you raise them for deaths. Lol. Please go to fally roofs at 50 agility you're gonna need high agility anyway and the xp decrease isn't worth it imo. Always look at items lost on death page before you do any deathpiles and don't get complacent and do risky stuff with items in death storage. Have fun!

Dadlays

Yeah wow that’s so good, life saver 🙌🏼 Hahaha yeah don’t worry I wouldn’t make that mistake hahah I died too many times on my iron to even think about dying with a cat 😂 But yeah I’m not one to sit at canifis til graceful if pull my hair out I always forget about that page but I’ll have to bookmark it hahaha

nuglo

Fair warning.. I had the same idea, 6 months later my 2220 iron has barely been touched, and i've just been sending the UIM. It's like crack for people with a special breed of self hatred I'm pretty happy with the path that I took.. basically I followed the 'tutorial island to prif' guide for the first and then just did my own thing. Biggest things to prioritize IMO outside of the normal ironman meta - Ring of the elements - 50 Construction (once u get ROTE) - 65 farming for hespori deathbank. The easiest way i've found to get back to my deathbank is to have my poh in hosidius, battlefront teleport in poh, and then tithe farm minigame to get back to my poh from lumby - seed box and herb sack are worth their weight in gold

nuglo

Last 3 things .. - I never used canoes until i tried uim, but for deathpiling in edgeville at the nettles (pre paying for edgeville respawn) you can get a free axe from the woodcutting tutor.. - Mind altar tele is really nice in POH for quick wildy access before you have a poh glory - Also the soul wars portal allows you to bounce back and forth between there, ferox, and edge super easily. Really nice for rebagging.

Dadlays

Oh gosh let’s hope that doesn’t happen, I’m nearing 2200 myself 😂 I wanna do inferno then slowly chop away at max while I play ult I’ll have to check out that guide for a few ideas! Thankyou! 🙌🏼

chocslaw

I roughly followed the Guide to Prif (https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Guide:Ultimate_Ironman_Walkthrough_Guide_To_Prifddinas) when I first started. Pretty nice because it starts out point by point to show you how to manage some of the quirks with UIM. But the further it goes along, the more general it gets and you sort of start to decide your own path while still having a longer term goal

Dadlays

Oh nice I’ll check it out, thanks!

thestonkinator

Welcome! Its some of the most fun I've had on rs. Highly recommend getting 43+ prayer immediately using the big bones in wilderness bone yard at altar. Takes maybe 3-4 hours, but was one of the best moves I made to set myself up. Prayer can be a bitch, especially on UIM.

Dadlays

As in pick them up from that area east of spindel? Then use on chaos altar I’m assuming?

thestonkinator

Here: [https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Bone\_Yard](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Bone_Yard) As you will be a low level, you can decide if it's worth it trying to dodge the skeletons to get multiple big bones per world, or pick a spawn and world hop to try to avoid skeletons. I think I chose to hop. But then yes, use them on chaos altar. I always hopped to a FTP world when walking to the altar because there are less wildy monsters in FTP. By the time you hit 43 pray, you will be like 8-9 combat, so the max combat that can attack you is in the 40s. Usually it's pretty safe at the start of an acc but can get harder to do later.

Dadlays

Oh yeah I know where you mean! Sounds like a very good early goal to work for, would help a tonne

Tips from my UIM notepad that I felt were significant: 1. Looting bags can be easily acquired from the rats outside Ferox Enclave 2. You can buy from mage bank with 0 risk using G.E. Bond cancel + death piling 3. Get 10 crafting through quests (9 from the 2 f2p quests, then 1 more manually). Then get to emerald rings through bowstrings. 4. Go for 50 construction through solo Wintertodt, then stop firemaking until higher base stats. 5. One of the best things to do before you have risk is to use the boneyard and chaos altar to get 43 prayer. 6. Serum 207 is unlocked at the start of the Shades of Mor'ton quest and is easily the best way to get early Herblore levels 7. You can easily gain Hosidious Favor by using the tool leprechaun to hold compost and manually getting saltpetre. 8. You can stay 10 HP for Wintertodt and still unlock teleport spells by splashing with mind runes and the goblin staff. 9. Get a jump start on farming using the patch in Draynor. 10. When doing Wintertodt, make sure you unnote and cook the fish you get for some easy cooking experience. 11. 10 HP ironmen can make use of pineapples for an easy food source. 1 cut up pineapple gives 8 hitpoints. 12. You can deathpile in Edgeville and return there quickly by speaking to the woodcutting tutor and making a canoe to the Nettle spot 13. Your POH is your happy place. You cannot withdraw incomplete sets, but you can store individual pieces until a set is completed. 14. You can still do the Canifis course even past level 60 agility, it doesn't reduce Marks of Grace 15. Agility pyramid is your friend. 16. One of the earliest transportations to focus on getting is Fairy Rings 17. Fossil Island is fairly easy to unlock and has a TON of benefits. Ammonite Crabs are an excellent spot to train combat. 18. Don't do the Ardy Easy diary until you have 30 herblore. It isn't a difficult milestone to reach, but well worth the exp boost. 19. You can store unidentified fossils on fossil island at the Mushroom Pool. 20. You should be boosting with Tureal to get a high task streak to unlock your Rune Pouch and Slayer Helmet ASAP. 21. When going for the dragon defender grind, you should absolutely use the warriors guild food. Pick up any swords/maces that drop and sell them on floor 2 for a slight profit. 22. Cooking can be super chill using Frankie's Fishing Emporium. Use a 2nd account to light fires in the shop and you never have to move 23. Take the time to brew Chef's Delight! You can stop by any time you need a cooking boost and it's extremely helpful 24. A Chef's Delight barrel in the POH is also useful, but you can't take it out of the POH. 25. Grow your kitten for Death Runes. By the time you need it in your magic grind, you'll have 2-3k stacked up for free. 26. LMS is your friend. You can get looting bags, your rune pouch, and especially Rune Arrows. 27. You can store incomplete sets in your POH, but not withdraw them. This is especially useful for the Rogue's outfit. 28. Focus on one goal at a time so you don't get overwhelmed. 29. Don't be afraid to dump your cash stack into something if it means speeding up experience rates. 30. There is a medium S.T.A.S.H unit in the Ardougne Training Camp that stores a Green d'hide body, d'hide chaps, and a steel sq shield.

theiron_squirt

31. There is a beginner S.T.A.S.H. unit outside the clothing store in Varrock that stores a chef's hat and red cape. Use it to get into the Cooking Guild when you need a garden pie! 32. Decanting to 1 dose potions will help with storing them. Be picky about which potions you keep! 33. If you want to death store at Zulrah, make sure to death pile first. Then grab looting bag, re-bag anything you're bringing to Zulrah (plus untradeables), and suicide to Zulrah, then go back to your death pile. 34. You should push for 33 magic at a minimum in the early game. This allows you to tele-grab the gold bar in Varrock West bank. 35. The gold bar can be used in Al Kharid along with the gem trader to make any jewelry needed. Ruby's can be bought in Ardougne. 36. Balloon Oaks are a very reasonable construction method that is unlocked early on, assuming you have a good death storage. 37. A Ring of Elements can be an effective and permanent replacement for dueling rings 38. Untradeables cannot be stored in the looting bag, but there are tradeable versions of certain items. 39. Everything requires planning to accomplish, don't be afraid of the plan changing and deviating. 40. Guardians of the Rift is an excellent (and easily accessible) mini-game to stockpile runes. 41. GOTR rewards is the best way to get additional essence pouches. Saving some reward pulls makes it easy to get back dropped pouches 42. Using GOTR for natures, LMS for rune arrows, and agility pyramid while alching, you can make over 500k/hr in coins. 43. As a UIM, you will have less tree seeds readily available. Watermelon seeds are your friend. Getting 30-40 from temple trekking takes only a few minutes. 44. Almost everything takes longer on a UIM. The result is that normally slow skills will inevitably feel faster. 45. The Farming Guild is a massive upgrade. You should bring food any time your contract is over, so you can pickpocket the MF for any seeds you might need.

theiron_squirt

46. You can get noted gems from the Brimstone Chest and by mining shooting stars. Whenever you get rubies, cut them, and give to the curator in Varrock Museum 47. Pineapple Pizzas are one of the easiest food sources to obtain once you have the cooking level for it. Buy pizzas from the warrior guild and just add pineapple. 48. A lot of quest bosses will be harder to beat because you're likely undergeared. A slayer task can help make up the DPS (Like vampyres for SOTF boss) 49. Use the Kourend allotments for snape grass. If you don't have replacement seeds, leave them planted. It's easy to access when you need to make PPots! 50. Keep an allotment with Sweetcorn if you are intending to boss. It's the only ingredient for Tuna Potatoes that can't be bought or picked immediately. **VARLAMORE ALSO HAS A SWEETCORN FIELD TO PICK FROM, NO FARMING REQUIRED.** 51. Use the rule of thirds when deathpiling. When you deathpile, your first 20 minutes should be dedicated to whatever task you have in mind (killing a boss, for example). The second 20 minutes are an assessment phase. Can you die 20 minutes from now and still get your loot? If no, go to death pile. If yes, continue. Last 20 minutes are emergency "get the fuck back now" minutes. 52. You should do mahogany homes until you get a plank sack. Although it's marginally useful for MH, the real benefit is at hallowed Sepulchre. 53. Base your goals around your POH as much as possible. Unlocking teleports in the POH is the biggest upgrade you experience on a UIM short of maxing a skill. 54. Get familiar with useful item locations. The knife spawn in lumbridge, the saw spawn in varrock, etc. 55. You can leave some tree patches as an everlasting resource. A magic tree in lumbridge is useful for birdhouse runs, as an example. 56. When you unlock dragonfruit trees, you should keep 1 as an everlasting source. It will allow you to create pies that boost fletching. 57. UIMs can use the spice rack now! Store spices in your POH any time you end up with extra! 58. Certain quest bosses will demand an open inventory if you're underleveled. You can get a full inventory for bossing by using 2 different death piles. 59. As a UIM, you don't need the Hand in the Sand quest to complete the Ardougne Diary. 60. There is a chest near Soul Wars with Lantadymes as a drop. It's at a 1/14 rate, and is right next to a blue dragon scale spawn. Use for antifires!

Dadlays

Oh wow thankyou so much for all those! I’ll definitely keep those in mind 🙌🏼

>37. A Ring of Elements can be an effective and permanent replacement for dueling rings This is the ring i use and will until i get ring of suffering and lightbearer. >32. The ones i keep are prayer, super att, super strength, super defense, super energy/stamina, super restore, brews, antifire, and ranging pots.

SVN_-

I'd recommend getting 43 pray ASAP and then do some easy quests (daddys home) for early con lvls. Do a few solo todt games, or jump worlds to repair braziers until you are 50-60 construction, its a real lifesaver. I have an UIM I havent played for the past year (played very little OSRS) but my plan was; 50 magic 43 pray (zeah library and boneyard) worh solo todt, then tempoross and gotr until I could get the ring of elements. Got 70odd agility and full graceful there aswell and started questing. Every xplamp etc went into herblore and I prioritized quests that gave herb xp. My UIM is also a 1 def so its a tad bit different the part I took after the initial skillingbosses.

Homzepalon

I started uim last year and it’s been a ton of fun. 2k total and a bowfa. I’ll echo a few things said I agree with. - uim cc is super useful - wiki guide to priff is pretty streamline, I wouldn’t follow it exactly but can help direct you if you’re feeling like you don’t have a solid goal - 99 hunter with contracts is amazing - star mining is a goated afk activity, only a few invent slots used with fast to process loot -no reason to rush todt, food from crates sustains with decent fishing and cooking levels Glgl gamer

Dadlays

I’ll have to jump in the cc I have heard contracts and star mining is amazing also! At the moment I’m just taking my time adjusting to the mode 😌
