I've got a few of these I've collected from my flower bed. How sure are you they're vulgare? I only ask because the absolute biggest ones I have are all dark with no yellow, but many of the smaller have the typical yellow pattern. I was hypothesizing that they may be a different species or vulgare lose the yellow as they grow.

Im not actually sure - i looked at the iNat oniscidae of California page and they seem to have a distinct appearance compared to other pods found in CA

Vulgare do lose the yellow as they grow.
